Magnitude 7.0 quake hits off Chile’s northern coast
A magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit off the northern coast of Chile at a depth of 21 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Sunday. The quake was centered 40 miles northwest of Iquique, the USGS said. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami expected. Chilean authorities said they ordered a preventive evacuation of part of the northern coastline after the quake. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. March 16, 2014

Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)

Obama to Putin: U.S. Will Punish Russia for Ukraine Vote
President Obama warned Vladimir Putin of “additional costs” for Russia after a weekend referendum to separate Crimea from the Ukraine went forward. In a phone call between the leaders on Sunday, Obama told the Russian president that the U.S. and its allies were “prepared to impose additional costs on Russia for its actions.”And the U.S. signaled it could act as soon as Monday to impose sanctions against Russia for its incursion into Crimea, and for conducting the referendum while occupying troops were in place. The referendum to break Crimea away from Ukraine and make it a part of Russia reportedly passed overwhelmingly although the U.S. and other Western nations have rejected the legitimacy of the vote.
