Headline:    ISIS ‘Mein Kampf’ Blames Israel for Global Terrorism

Intelligence officials are comparing a newly discovered secret Islamic State document to Hitler’s “Mein Kampf,” as it blames Israel for the rise of the Islamic State and crowns U.S. President Barack Obama as the “Mule of the Jews.” Found in Pakistan’s remote tribal region by American Media Institute (AMI), the 32-page Urdu language document promotes an “end of the world” battle as a final solution. It argues that the Islamic leader should be recognized as the sole ruler of the world’s 1 billion Muslims, under a religious empire called a “caliphate.” “It reads like the caliphate’s own Mein Kampf,” said a U.S. intelligence official, who reviewed the document. “While the world is watching videos of beheadings and crucifixions in Iraq and Syria the Islamic State is moving into North Africa the Middle East, and now we see it has a strategy in South Asia. It’s a magician’s trick, watch this hand and you’ll never see what the other is doing.” Retired U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency Director Gen. Michael Flynn and other U.S. intelligence officials confirmed the authenticity of the document based on its unique markings, specific language used to describe leaders and the writing style and religious wording that matched other Islamic State records. Flynn said the undated document, “A Brief History of the Islamic State Caliphate (ISC), The Caliphate According to the Prophet,” is a campaign plan that “lays out their intent, their goals and objectives, a red flag to which we must pay attention.”

Headline: Netanyahu’s office: Israel is not holding direct or indirect talks with Hamas

Israel and Hamas reportedly are negotiating a long-term deal that would end Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip in exchange for an end to Hamas attacks on Israel. Based on Arabic-language news sources, Israeli papers are reporting that negotiations on the agreement are in their final stages, and that the agreement has been approved by the Shura Council, Hamas’ legislative body. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is mediating the accord, and Hamas is negotiating it in partnership with Turkey and Qatar. The agreement reportedly would include the construction of a port in the Gaza Strip. En route to Gaza, ships would pass through another port in Cyprus, where they would be examined by either Turkish or NATO authorities. According to the Times of Israel, the agreement also would include permits for thousands of Gazan day laborers to work in Israel. In exchange, Hamas would commit to ceasing all rocket attacks and tunneling into Israel. Negotiations received encouragement recently from Saudi Arabia, which aims to create a broad, Sunni-based alliance to counter Iran’s regional ambitions, according to Haaretz.

Headline:   Israel offer to exile Palestinian hunger-striker rebuffed

Lawyers for a Palestinian in the ninth week of a hunger strike against his detention without trial took his case on Monday to Israel’s Supreme Court, where a new offer to free him in exchange for exile was rebuffed. The condition of Islamic Jihad activist Mohammed Allan, who is unconscious in an Israeli hospital, is being closely monitored by opposing forces in an Israeli-Palestinian conflict that could erupt in new violence if he dies. Israel sees his hunger strike, which began more than 60 days ago, as a powerful challenge against “administrative detention,” a practice that has drawn criticism from Palestinians and human rights groups but which Israel calls a security necessity. It fears that his unconditional release – Allan’s lawyers argued that in his current condition he posed no security threat – would only encourage several hundred other Palestinian detainees suspected of anti-Israeli activities to refuse food. Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan, writing on Twitter, called the petition for his release “ludicrous,” as Allan’s medical endangerment was self-inflicted.
As the hearing got under way in Israel’s highest court, the Justice Ministry said it would consider freeing Allan, 31, if he agreed to be exiled abroad for four years. Jameel Khatib, one of his lawyers, rejected the offer of exile, calling instead for his immediate release but also raising the possibility of setting Sept. 23, the start of a Muslim holiday, as a date for freeing him. In its High Court response, the Justice Ministry said “classified information” warranted keeping Allan detained, unless he was sent abroad.

Headline:   IDF plans for possible Syria operation as jihadist, Hezbollah threats mount

The Israeli military is preparing for a possible ground operation on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights in the event of sustained rocket strikes or coordinated terror attacks against Israel either by Sunni jihadists or Hezbollah operatives. The number of Islamists flooding into the area close to the border with Israel has the IDF on high alert, Channel 2 reported Sunday, adding that the military held a large-scale drill last week simulating a possible advance into Syria and the evacuation of Israeli civilians from border communities. According to a Channel 10 report Sunday, the drill included preparation for a scenario in which Islamist forces launch a sophisticated, multi-pronged attack on Israeli troops, similar to attacks against Egyptian security forces in Sinai in recent months. The IDF is also planning for a possible Hezbollah offensive directed by Iran, with an IDF source saying that hundreds of Hezbollah members are present in the Golan, and that Tehran has been behind several recent attacks against Israel. Israeli officials have routinely raised concerns over the presence of Iranian and Hezbollah fighters using positions in the Syrian Golan, partially held by rebel forces, to attack Israel.

Headline:  Syrian rebel group says cease-fire with Hezbollah over

A rare cease-fire negotiated with Hezbollah fighters in a Syrian town and two villages collapsed Saturday after several days during which guns fell silent, a rebel group involved in the talks and activists said. The cease-fire in the northern rebel-held town of Zabadani, near the border with Lebanon, as well as in Foua and Kfarya, two Shiite villages in Idlib province, was reached Wednesday and was to last until tomorrow. But Ahrar al-Sham, the main rebel group involved in the negotiations, announced today the negotiations had collapsed.
The talks were focused on securing safe passage for Ahrar al-Sham and civilians out of Zabadani in exchange for allowing humanitarian aid to the two besieged villages with a majority pro-government population sympathetic to Hezbollah. They also involved an exchange of prisoners. Activists said the cease-fire was brokered with the help of Turkish and Iranian mediation. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the talks collapsed over how many prisoners the Syrian government would release, among other things.
Fighting in Zabadani resumed on Saturday. Residents of eastern Lebanon reported hearing the thud of explosions from across the border that broke several days of calm. Shells were also reported to have fallen yesterday on the village of Foua.

Syria Headline:  Air strikes near Damascus kill at least 80 people: activists

A Syrian government air strike northeast of Damascus killed at least 80 people in a marketplace on Sunday, rescue workers in the rebel-held area and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. At least 200 more people were wounded in the attack on Douma, about 15 km (10 miles) northeast of Damascus, according to the British-based Observatory and the local arm of Syrian Civil Defense, a rescue service operating in rebel areas. The Observatory said at least 10 rockets were fired during the air strike and accused the warplanes of bombing again after rescue workers had arrived at the scene. “This is a documented massacre,” said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the Observatory. A Syrian military source said air force strikes on Douma and nearby Harasta targeted the headquarters of the rebel group Islam Army. The insurgent group attacked government positions in Harasta on Saturday. A video released by Islam Army showed its leader Zahran Alloush taking part in the attack. The group is one of the most powerful insurgent factions operating near Damascus, the seat of President Bashar al-Assad’s power more than four years into the civil war that has killed a quarter of a million people.

Iraq Headline: Suicide attacks, clashes kill 17 troops near Fallujah

Iraqi officials say ISIS militants have launched an attack against government troops outside the militant-held city of Fallujah, killing at least 17 troops. The officials, a police officer and an army officer, say three suicide attackers drove explosives-laden military vehicles into government forces’ barricades outside Fallujah, west of Baghdad, on Sunday. Clashes broke out afterward. The officials said 15 other troops were wounded. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.

Kurdish Headline: Iran Deploys Reinforcements to KRG Border

The Iranian government has tightened its borders with the Kurdistan Region by sending extra troops to the area. BasNews understands that the Iranian army recently moved soldiers and heavy arms to its north western borders with the Kurdistan Region, sparking increased concerns among residents. General Director of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Iranian Relations Department, Abdullah Akrayi, confirmed the reports and told BasNews that the reinforcements started last year. He revealed that the KRG has not deployed forces to the area but the Iranian Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) maintains a presence. “PJAK has conducted several assaults on the Iranian army since last year, resulting in Iran reinforcing the area,” Akrayi said.

Clashes broke out on Sunday between Turkish army forces and fighters from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Kars province in eastern Turkey. At least one Turkish soldier was killed and others injured during the clashes, army sources reported. The clashes took place in Kağızman sub-district of Kars province. “One of our soldiers was killed and few others wounded during the clashes. While our forces killed at least three PKK militants,” Turkish army said in a statement on Sunday. This comes one day after PKK fighters bombed a Turkish military convoy in the Bingol district near Karliova, killing three soldiers and wounding six others. Over the last few weeks, Kurdish fighters of the PKK launched a series of attacks on Turkish military and security forces southeast the country in response to the airstrikes launched by Turkish warplanes on the group’s positions in northern Iraq. According to Turkey’s General Staff, at least 39 soldiers have been killed in the PKK-led attacks in the past weeks. On the other hand, the PKK has lost more than 200 fighters under Turkish airstrikes.

Headline:   Khamenei: Deal or No Deal, Iran Will ‘Shut’ US Out

Headline:   Obama can do Iran nuclear deal even if Congress disapproves

The fate of Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers is still undecided but it will not leave the country open to US influence, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Monday. Khamenei, the country’s highest authority, said in a statement quoted on his website that Tehran would block any US attempt to influence Iran despite the historic accord. “They think that through this agreement – the fate of which is not clear as no one knows if it will be approved here or in America – they could find a way to intrude into the country,” Khamenei said. “We have closed such a path and will decisively shut it. We’ll allow neither economic nor political nor cultural intrusion by the United States.” The deal, reached in Vienna last month, must still be ratified by the US Congress and could face the need for parliamentary approval in Iran. Khamenei, quoted as speaking to members of the Islamic Radio and Television Union in Tehran, also accused the United States of trying to “infiltrate” the Middle East. “They seek the disintegration of Syria and Iraq, (but) with God’s help it will not happen,” he said.

Headline: Libya government calls for Arab airstrikes against IS

Libya’s internationally recognized government has appealed to Arab countries to carry out airstrikes against the local Islamic State affiliate which is expanding its hold on the coastal central city of Sirte. The statement late Saturday came after the IS affiliate seized control of a new neighborhood in Sirte. The affiliate shelled the area, killed a senior cleric and hung the bodies of prisoners they killed over bridges. The government also called for an end to the arms embargo imposed since 2011. The Arab League said Sunday it will hold an emergency meeting on Libya Tuesday. Egypt, which is lobbying for a more active international role in Libya against IS, has carried out multiple airstrikes inside Libya against IS, including some after the group killed 21 Egyptian hostages held in Libya.

A militant ambush killed at least two soldiers in northern Algeria on Friday, according to reports. The incident occurred in the northern woods of Colo, in the Skikda province, during an anti-terrorism operation. Local media reported security sources as saying a commander and soldier were killed in the encounter. Reaction forces, backed by helicopter air support, deployed to track down the militants. A group of up to 30 armed militants had been reported in the area two weeks ago, according to Xinhua news agency. The fighting comes after an ambush last month claimed the lives of 11 soldiers in a forested area of Ain Delfa, 150 miles southeast of the capital Algiers.

Headline:   Brazil street protests demand Rousseff impeachment

Protesters took to the streets of Brazil Sunday, kicking off nationwide rallies expected to draw hundreds of thousands demonstrating against corruption and economic slowdown, and calling for President Dilma Rousseff to step down. Organizers promised large demonstrations in the capital Brasilia, the 2016 Olympic host city Rio de Janeiro — where an Olympic bicycling test event had to be rerouted — and in the country’s financial capital Sao Paulo. In all, some 200 towns and cities were expected to participate across Latin America’s biggest country. In April, at least 600,000 people turned out against Rousseff and more than a million in March. The extent and intensity of the latest protests will be a key indicator of public support for calls from some in Congress for Rousseff’s impeachment.

Tuareg rebels in northern Mali attacked the positions of a pro-government militia on Monday, in fighting that is undermining government attempts to pacify the region, sources from both groups said. But tensions have been rising again, and neighbouring Niger is due to host talks to ease the situation on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Platform, an alliance of pro-government groups, said fighters from the Tuareg Co-ordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) had attacked two Platform positions in the early morning, in the third day of clashes. “I think that they are looking for a pretext to boycott the meeting in Niamey by saying there are clashes in the north,” said Fahad Ag Almahamoud, a leader of the Gatia militia, which belongs to the Platform.

Headline: Deadly blast rocks Thailand capital

A bomb has exploded close to a shrine in the centre of Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, killing at least 16 people and injuring more than 80. The Erawan Shrine is a major tourist attraction and foreigners, including Chinese, were said to be among the casualties. No-one has yet said they carried out the attack. Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwong said the bomb had “targeted foreigners… to damage tourism and the economy”. The Nation TV channel quoted Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha as saying the government would set up a “war room” to co-ordinate its response. Nation put the death toll as high as 27, saying at least three foreigners were killed, but there has been no official confirmation. The explosion occurred at about 19:00 local time (12:00 GMT). The Bangkok Post quoted police as saying that 3kg of TNT had been stuffed in a pipe inside the shrine and that an electronic circuit suspected to have been used in the attack was found 30 metres from the scene. Police checked the area for other devices but no further bombs have been found, the paper said.

Forces loyal to exiled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi seized Yemen’s southern province of Shabwa on Saturday, residents and tribesmen said, building momentum after weeks of victories against the dominant Houthi movement. The loyalist fighters, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, have advanced on a broad front through southern Yemen in recent weeks, forcing the Houthis and army units aligned with former strongman Ali Abdullah Saleh into retreat. Tribal sources said a pro-Saleh military commander in the area had agreed with tribal forces to withdraw from the provincial capital Ataq after a week of fierce fighting throughout the province. “As per the agreement with tribes that pledged not to allow Al-Qaeda members to be present in Ataq, the city was handed over to the tribes,” a Houthi official told Reuters. Residents said they saw military vehicles retreating north from Ataq on Saturday morning, as pro-Hadi forces advanced into the city with a column of tanks and armored vehicles.

Headline: Civilians and soldiers die in east Ukraine fighting, Putin in Crimea

Military authorities in Ukraine believe the number of Russian troops within and close to its borders has risen to more than 50,000, raising fears of a substantial escalation in the conflict raging in Ukraine’s eastern regions. Almost 9,000 Russian Federation Armed Forces personnel are believed to be based inside Ukraine, according to reports from the country’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) seen by The Independent on Sunday. The rest are based in the neighbouring Rostov region of Russia, including mechanised assault units and communications command systems. This is in addition to 33,400 so-called “illegal armed formations” of Russian-backed separatist soldiers inside eastern Ukraine, with 400 main battle tanks and close to 2,000 armoured troop carriers reported to be at “full combat readiness”. Western countries have repeatedly accused Russia of becoming involved in the conflict, a claim Moscow has denied – despite what Ukraine and other observers see as evidence of troop build-up.

From China to Brazil, the central banks have lost control and at the same time the global economy is grinding to a halt. It is only a matter of time before stock markets collapse under the weight of their lofty expectations and record valuations. The ministry, in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, added that it is carrying out awareness campaigns on coronavirus in places where camels are herded and among camel owners and herders while asking them to take precautions when dealing with camels. The ministry said that the total number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the appearance of the disease reached 1072. Of these 588 cases were cured and 25 cases are still under treatment, it added.

Headline: North Korea threatens imminent strikes against South, warns US

North Korea on Saturday threatened South Korea with “indiscriminate” military strikes unless it halts cross-border propaganda broadcasts, and issued fresh nuclear weapons warnings against the United States. The threats came amid escalating military tensions on the Korean peninsula following a landmine attack South Korea blamed on the North and ahead of a major South Korea-US joint military exercise condemned by Pyongyang. They also coincided with celebrations in both Koreas to mark the 70th anniversary of the Korean peninsula’s 1945 liberation from Japanese colonial rule. Initially there were hopes the anniversary might be an opportunity for some sort of inter-Korean rapprochement, but instead ties have spiralled downwards to the familiar accompaniment of angry rhetoric and mutual recrimination. After three landmine blasts maimed two South Korean soldiers on border patrol, Seoul this week resumed high-decibel propaganda broadcasts across the heavily-militarised frontier, using batteries of loudspeakers that had lain silent for more than a decade. Pyongyang rejected accusations that it was behind the mine incident as “absurd”, and its frontline army border command on Saturday demanded the broadcasts be halted immediately.

For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due”(Romans)

Headline: Gay marriage bill introduced to Australian parliament

A controversial bill to legalise same-sex marriage has been introduced to the Australian parliament. The private member’s bill comes amid heated debate among government MPs about whether to change the law or put the matter to a plebiscite. The government’s official position is that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has denied government MPs a free vote on any bill legalising same-sex marriage. The bill allows couples, regardless of “sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status” to marry. Australia’s Marriage Act limits marriage to a union of a man and a woman. The bill was introduced by government backbencher Warren Entsch, one of several government backbenchers who plan to defy Mr Abbott by crossing the floor of the parliament to vote in favour of marriage equality. The ban on a free vote for government MPs means it is likely to fail.

Headline:  Astronomers discover the biggest thing in the Universe

There’s some pretty big stuff out there in the Universe, but how big is the biggest? According to a team of Hungarian-US scientists led by Prof Lajos Balazs, the largest regular formation in the Universe is a ring of nine galaxies 7 billion light years away and 5 billion light years wide. Though not visible from Earth, the newly discovered feature covers a third of our sky. The ring was revealed by nine Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) originating from the nine galaxies. GRBs are the brightest, most energetic events in the cosmos, putting out as much energy in seconds as the Sun will in its entire lifetime. They’re caused by supernovae or hypernovae – supermassive stars collapse into neutron stars or black holes in times ranging from milliseconds to a few hours. Aside from their spectacular deaths, they also help astronomers to measure the distance of other galaxies. In this case, the observed GRB’s indicate that the nine galaxies are positioned in a ring shaped like a shell. They also show that the galaxies are all of a very similar distance from Earth – according to Prof Balazs, there’s only a 1 in 20,000 chance that the ring’s arrangement is accidental. If it was visible to us, the ring would cover 36 percent of the sky, making it 70 times bigger than a full moon.

Headline: Ecuador Declares National State of Emergency as Volcano Erupts

Cotopaxi, a volcano not far from the Ecuadorean capital of Quito, spewed ash several times, sending large gray puffs 3 miles into the sky, officials said. Ash could reach Latacunga, Machachi and Quito on Friday, officials at the Geophysics Institute told the state news agency ANDES. They have declared a yellow alert, but said there is no impending probability of a major eruption. Meanwhile in Japan, the Sakurajima volcano showed increased activity Saturday, experts said. Japan’s meteorological agency warned residents on the country’s southwestern island of Kyushu to get ready to evacuate. It issued a level 4 emergency warning, which urges residents to prepare to evacuate. Level 5 is the highest.
