For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline:  Saudi Arabia: Israel visit doesn’t reflect government stance

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry is distancing itself from a recent visit to Israel by a number of Saudi citizens, including an outspoken former military general. The Saudi-owned al-Hayat newspaper quotes Wednesday an unnamed ministry official as saying the rare public engagement “does not reflect the views of the Saudi government.” The official referred to Israel as “the occupied territories.” Saudi Arabia and Israel have no official relations and the kingdom prohibits its citizens from traveling to Israel. It also does not grant visas to Israelis. However, Saudi government permission was likely necessary for Anwar Eshki and the delegation of Saudi academics and businessmen to make the visit. While in Jerusalem, Eshki met with a senior Israeli Foreign Ministry official and a group of Knesset members.

Fierce clashes continued on Wednesday between Yemeni resistance forces and Houthi militias in the areas of Masloub and al-Aqba in the Jawf district. Sources close to Al Arabiya News Channel confirmed that Houthi militia commander Mabkhoot al-Husan and his supporters surrendered themselves to the popular resistance forces. Coalition forces also confirmed that they were able to successfully strike Houthi targets and destroy vast weapons cash in the district of al-Ghayl. The clashes comes after Saudi Arabia ramped up its shelling on Houthi targets near the border a day after five of its soldiers were killed in the frontier province of Najran.

Syria Headline:      Deadly IS blast rocks Kurdish city of Qamishli

Forty-four people have been killed in a massive bombing in the Kurdish-controlled city of Qamishli in north-east Syria, Syrian state TV reports. The blast was caused by a truck bomb which struck near a Kurdish security headquarters, according to a UK-based monitoring group. So-called Islamic State (IS) has said it was behind the attack, in Hassakeh province, near the border with Turkey. The jihadist group said Wednesday’s attack was in response to air strikes on the IS-held city of Manbij in north-west Aleppo province, where the SDF is on the offensive. IS said on its self-styled Amaq news agency that a suicide bomber had blown up a truck at a local Kurdish police centre and a nearby government building. The attack was initially reported as a double bombing, but it now appears that the first blast caused a gas tank to explode, according to AFP. Hospitals in the city are calling for blood donations, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) monitoring group reports. The dead include civilians and members of the security forces, it says. While Qamishli has been targeted before, the group says this is the biggest explosion ever to hit the city. The blast shattered windows in the Turkish town of Nusaybin, directly across the border, Reuters reports.

Syria Headline:    ISIS launches a new offensive in Aleppo

The Islamic State launched a new offensive against the Islamist rebels of north Aleppo targeting the jihadist stronghold of Mare’(Marea on map), a city that has always been a thorn in the throat of the terror group. The attack began after a hail of locally-made missiles struck the rebel defenses in the city. ISIS attempted to advance on the city’s southern flank. While it is unlikely that ISIS will manage to seize the town, heavy clashes are ongoing. Suffering a string of defeats in both Syria and Iraq in addition to risking the loss of the Turkish border crossings under its control, ISIS is desperate to capture Mare’ and the adjacent Bab Al-Salama border crossing. Not only would such a major victory boost the jihadists’ morale, but it will also safeguard the group’s border access for the time being.

Iraq Headline:  Militant attacks kill 14 in, around Baghdad

At least 14 people have lost their lives and 29 others were injured in a spate of attacks carried out by militants in and around the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad. In the deadliest assault on Wednesday, a bomber set off his explosives-laden vest at a police checkpoint in Baghdad’s Shia neighborhood of Shula. A police officer, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, said the attack left three policemen and three civilians dead and at least 15 more people injured.

Three shoppers were killed and nine others injured in another bomb explosion that hit a commercial area in the town of Yusufiyah, situated 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Baghdad, an unnamed police officer said.

Additionally, a similar explosion took place in the capital’s southwestern Sa’adiyah neighborhood, killing two civilians and injuring five others.

Elsewhere in the northeastern Baghdad suburb of Rashidiyah, police said that three intelligence officers affiliated to Iraq’s Interior Ministry were gunned down by drive-by shooters armed with pistols fitted with silencers. Local medical officials confirmed the number of casualties in Wednesday’s attacks.

Turkish authorities on Wednesday announced the dismissal of more than 1,600 military personnel and the closure of more than 100 media outlets, CNN Turk reported, in a widening crackdown following this month’s failed coup attempt. A total of 726 military officers and 1,684 soldiers have been discharged, the broadcaster said. In addition, three news agencies, 16 television channels, 45 daily newspapers, 15 journals and 23 radio stations have been ordered to be shut down, it said. Among the newspapers ordered to shut down is the Zaman newspaper, Turkey’s largest-circulated media outlet, which was seized by the government and reopened under the charge of government-appointed trustees in March.

Headline:    Is the Iran-Saudi Cold War Heating Up?

Throughout decades of ferocious rivalry, Iran and Saudi Arabia have, even while backing competing forces across the Middle East, generally maintained one red line: They wouldn’t interfere directly in each other’s domestic security. Policy makers in Riyadh and Tehran have known that backing militant groups among their rival’s Shiite minorities in Saudi Arabia or Sunni minorities in Iran could lead to an escalation for which neither country is ready. But that tacit agreement might be unraveling. While no hard proof has been presented, in the past month Iran has ratcheted up claims that Saudi Arabia is supporting groups working to overthrow the government in Tehran or to destabilize the country, in particular opening a new front with Kurdish separatists. The Saudis, for their part, say Iran is increasing support for Shiite militants. Both countries deny the allegations. Last week, the Saudi foreign minister, Adel al-Jubeir, accused Iran of managing and executing the 1996 Khobar Tower bombings and harboring Al Qaeda’s senior leaders in 2003, when they ordered the bombing of housing compounds in Riyadh. Saudi Arabian officials also point to increasing fears that Iran, together with Hezbollah al-Hijaz, a Saudi Shiite militant group, has recruited and trained separatists.

About 800 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division’s 1st Combat Aviation Brigade will deploy to Afghanistan this summer, the Army announced Tuesday. The soldiers from Fort Riley, Kansas, are deploying as part of the regular rotation of forces to support Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Meanwhile, A SENIOR ISIS commander has been killed in a military operation in Afghanistan, according to the country’s security forces. Afghan officials said he was among 120 suspected militants killed in the pre-planned ground offensive which was supported by foreign airpower in the Kot district. Emarati was formerly a Taliban chief but switched allegiance to ISIS following the death of Taliban founder Mullah Omar.

Headline:    Shootout injures one officer, 4 gunmen in Armenia

A police officer and four gunmen have reportedly been injured in an exchange of fire at a police compound in the Armenian capital, Yerevan. Police spokesman Ashot Aharonyan said Wednesday that the clashes broke out at the police compound that was seized over ten days ago. Aharonyan said that two of the gunmen and the police officer were in hospital being treated for their wounds while another two wounded armed men remained on the compound. He said gunmen, holed up in the police station, took four medics hostage, as they “went into the captured territory to assist two members of the armed group who refused to go to hospital.” “The police are taking steps to free the doctors through negotiations,” Aharonyan said. The armed men have been demanding the release of Zhirair Sefilyan, an opposition leader accused by the government of plotting civil unrest. Sefilyan was jailed in June over allegations of illegal weapons possession. Also on Monday, thousands of people staged a rally in Yerevan to voice solidarity with the pro-opposition gunmen.

nation against nation 3CooltextprophecysignLuke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword.  Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions)   Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)

At least 13 people have been killed in two car bomb attacks near an entrance to the airport in Mogadishu, Somali police say. Thick smoke could be seen rising from the area, where there is also a base for African Union (AU) peacekeepers. Local journalists said one of the bombs was detonated by a suicide attacker near a checkpoint. Another blast hit the airport’s perimeter wall. Those killed were believed to include security guards at the checkpoint. The militant Islamist group, al-Shabab, has said it was behind the blasts and its target was the AU force’s headquarters.

Headline:    ISIS Claims Responsibility For Normandy Church Attack

ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack at a church in Normandy, where two hostage-takers killed a priest and injured another person on Tuesday.  A police source told Reuters it appeared the priest’s throat was slit in the attack, which ended when police shot and killed the assailants. The ISIS-linked Amaq News Agency posted a statement on its Telegram group hours after the incident saying the attackers were “soldiers of the Islamic State” who carried out the attack in response to calls by the terror group to target nationals of states that are part of the coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria. ISIS supporters on social media celebrated even before Amaq released the claim of responsibility. “Yesterday in Ansbach and before that in Nice, and today in Rouen,” a major ISIS channel on Telegram declared. “Slaughtering, stabbing, ramming and killing in Europe. This is what you brought for yourselves, you Crusaders.” The violence, which unfolded in the the Normandy town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, marked the third attack in Europe claimed by ISIS this week.
