Little by little ISIS is moving in on their target Israel! As you can see from the photo Egypt is one of the nation that is mentioned in the Psalm 83 war against Israel. If ISIS is not stopped they will no doubt begin their assault on Israel. The only remaining question to be asked is this. Will ISIS take Egypt and Hamas and in the process bring them all against Israel. At this point no one nation has been able to stop ISIS from advancing into the bordering nations of Israel. Here is the bottom line. At the end of the day every nation in the photo above will attack Israel. Weather all these nations will be controlled by ISIS or not I can not say but, they will all attack Israel soon. Israel is getting ready for the next war!
The Jewish Press » » All-Out War South of Israeli-Sinai Border
The northern Sinai Peninsula south of the border with Israel is engulfed in an all-out war. Egyptian F-16 warplanes attacked Islamic State (ISIS) and other jihadists’ positions for several hours Wednesday afternoon and killed more than 90 jihadists following massive ISIS attacks. Most of the 70 Egyptian casualties were soldiers and policemen, and the death toll is not final. Egypt retaliated immediately and fiercely, and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said: Terrorism is knocking on our borders. ISIS is not only across from the Golan Heights, it is also in Egypt, across from Rafah…And we are together with Egypt and other states in the Middle East and the world in the struggle against extreme Islamic terror. Look what God said in Psalm 83:4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.” Now look at the following quote from the same news article. “ISIS declared yesterday that it will wipe out both Hamas and Israel. Who do you think is going to destroy ISIS? The only nation with the true guts at this point who can stop ISIS in their tracks is the smallest nation of all, Israel and, soon ISIS will see just how strong and determined the Jews are.

Headline: ISIS Vows to Conquer Gaza, Israel & Palestinian Authority
Headline: ISIL’s genocide threat against Christian Arabs in Jerusalem ignored by Palestinian Authority
It had to happen sometime. ISIS (Da’esh in Arabic) – not satisfied with the way Hamas terrorists have governed the Gaza region – has decided to seize control of the enclave itself. And the terrorist organization says it does not plan to stop there, either — the group apparently issued a video statement Tuesday warning of its intent to conquer the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority as well, according to the Reuters news agency. The video has been removed from the Internet, however. “We will uproot the state of the Jews and you and Fatah, and all of the secularists are nothing and you will be overrun by our creeping multitudes,” a masked member of the terror group proclaimed in a message addressed to the “tyrants of Hamas,” according to Reuters. “The rule of Shari’a (Islamic Law) will be implemented in Gaza in spite of you,” he went on. “We swear that what is happening in the Levant today, and in particular the Yarmouk camp (the Palestinian settlement in Damascus), will happen in Gaza.” Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz accused Hamas on Tuesday of partnering with ISIS affiliates in the Egyptian Sinai – a charge long denied by Hamas.

Headline: Netanyahu: We are partners with Egypt in the fight against ISIS that has reached our borders
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the four Israelis at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem who were injured in two separate terrorist attacks over the last two days, and from near their beds sent condolences to Egypt for the terrorist attacks that rocked that country on Wednesday. “Terrorism is knocking on our borders,” he said. “Islamic State is not only across from the Golan Heights, it is also in Egypt, across from Rafah, in other words across from our borders,” he said. “And we are together with Egypt and many other states in the Middle East and the world in the struggle against extreme Islamic terrorism.” While the terrorists have managed to hit inside Israel over the last few days, Netanyahu said that the IDF and the security services have “thwarted more than 200 terrorist attempts from the start of last year.” He pledged that Israel would apprehend those responsible for the recent attacks and “extract a heavy price from the terrorists and those who dispatch them and support them.”

Headline: Hamas Claims Responsibility for Shvut Rachel Shooting
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian terror group Hamas, has claimed responsibility for the shooting attack near Shvut Rachel on Monday night. Four Israeli civilians were injured in the terror attack, with one, Malachi Moshe Rosenfeld, a 25-year-old resident of Kochav Hashachar, succumbing to his wounds on Tuesday evening. The Al-Qassam Brigades asserted the attack was part of “a series of quality operations” carried out by the group’s members in recent months, and that the attackers opened fire at point-blank range on a car of “settlers” before managing to escape safely. On Tuesday, sources in the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) admitted that a terror cell appears to be at large in the Binyamin region north of Jerusalem, although they did not say if the cell had any connection to Hamas. Sources credit the cell with firing at a civilian vehicle and an ambulance on Saturday evening, as well the murder of Danny Gonen, near Dolev, 12 days ago. Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Husam Badran called ongoing attacks against Israelis “an important quality development,” whether it be shooting at “settlers or soldiers” or stabbing attacks carried out by lone-wolf Palestinian terrorists. Badran urged Palestinians to continue escalating attacks against Israelis in order to return to a situation of confrontation with the Jewish state as well as to “revive the Al-Aqsa Intifada” to end the “occupation.”

Headline:Op-Ed: The Vatican Wants the Temple Mount Taken From the Jews
In 2000, speaking in a mosque in Palestinian-held Ramallah, Yasser Arafat declared, “No one will succeed in removing us from our land, including Jerusalem, and the Palestinian flag will fly from the Temple Mount and from the churches in Jerusalem.” Arafat could say that because he had won the Vatican’s support for his terroristic strategy. On June 26th, 2015, the Vatican signed its first treaty with the “State of Palestine”. It is the logical conclusion of a long path. When the pontiff John Paul II ascended to the Temple Mount in 2000, Judaism’s most holy site, he wasn’t welcomed by Israeli officials, but by representatives of the Palestinian Authority, and the holy complex was bedecked in Arab flags. It was the Pope’s implicit recognition of Islamic hegemony. It was taken to mean that Islam and Christianity superseded Judaism and have the right to “inherit” its holy places. Since then, the Holy See’s taking a stance as the ally of the heads of the Palestinian Authority in the place most holy to the Jewish people, became almost a fait accompli.

Headline: Israel, Jordan may open Dome of the Rock to non-Muslims
Israel and Jordan are discussing opening Temple Mount sites, including the Dome of the Rock, to non-Muslims, after 15 years of restrictions, the Haaretz daily reported Tuesday. The negotiations between Israel, which handles the security of the holy site, and Jordan, which has influence over the religious management of the site, have been going on for months, the Belgian International Crisis Group said. Increased tourism — and the revenue from it — would encourage the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, the religious body that formally runs the Temple Mount’s day-to-day operations, to maintain the peace, the NGO said. Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority, which controlled the Waqf until recently, are hoping to stave off violence of the sort that rocked the Temple Mount last year, culminating in a murder attempt against Jewish activist Rabbi Yehudah Glick in October 2014 and the temporary closure of the site to both Muslims and Jews, the International Crisis Group said. The Prime Minister’s Office denied the existence of the talks, however. “There are no negotiations and no change in the status quo at the Temple Mount,” a representative told Haaretz.

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline: Hezbollah prepares all-out attack on Syria’s Zabadani
Hezbollah is set to wage an all-out offensive on one the largest towns in the Qalamoun mountain range this week, in a push to seize one of the Syrian militants’ last strongholds along Lebanon’s border. Hezbollah reinforcements and large quantities of weapons and ammunition are being transferred into Lebanon’s eastern mountain range ahead of an offensive on the Syrian town of Zabadani at the southern end of Qalamoun, a security source told The Daily Star. Hezbollah’s determination to push ahead with the attack, according to the source, comes after negotiations with rebels failed to secure militants’ withdrawal from the area. The offensive, which is expected to start in the coming days, seeks to clear the area of Syrian rebel factions who have maintained control of the town despite being surrounded by Syrian troops and Hezbollah fighters.

Headline: Lebanese army says kills five militants at Syria border
Headline: Sectarian Shooting Wounds 7 People South of Lebanese Capital
The Lebanese army said on Wednesday it had killed five militants in a clash at the border zone with Syria, the second such confrontation in less than a week. A security source identified the militants as members of the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, one of the insurgent groups fighting in the Syrian civil war. An army statement said they were targeted as they attempted to cross between the Lebanese town of Arsal and the nearby border zone and identified one of the dead as a Syrian. The army said on Friday it had killed two militants who were trying to reach the town of Arsal from the border zone. Meanwhile, Supporters of rival Lebanese factions clashed early on Wednesday in a coastal town south of Beirut, leaving several people wounded, the country’s state news agency and a security official said. The National News Agency said the fighting in the town of Saadiyat was between supports of the Sunni Future Movement and the Resistance Brigades, which is close to the Shiite Hezbollah group. Sectarian tensions have increased in Lebanon since the start of Syria’s crisis four years ago. The civil war has spilled over into Lebanon in the past, killing and wounding dozens. According to a Lebanese security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media, seven people were wounded. The Lebanese army said one soldier was lightly wounded in the shooting, adding that troops are patrolling the area.

Headline: Sinai: Egypt Air Force Hits ISIS Positions After Deadly Assault
Approximately 64 Egyptian soldiers and police officers have been killed in a multi-prong attack at five checkpoints in the Sinai Peninsula, according to international media sources. Clashes first erupted Wednesday between Da’esh (ISIS) terrorists and security personnel in the northern Sinai town of Sheikh Zuweid, according to Daily News Egypt. According to the Egyptian Army spokesperson, the numbers are quite different, with approximately 70 terrorists were involved in five ambushes in northern Sinai. “Our forces returned fire, killing 22 terrorists and destroying three land cruiser vehicles loaded with 14.5mm anti-aircraft weapons. Ten of our valiant armed forces were martyred thus far. Our forces continue to comb the areas around the site of the attacks in order to eliminate what’s left of the terrorists. Clashes are continuing,” he said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page. The attack came as a follow-up to Monday’s assassination in Cairo of Egyptian chief prosecutor and Attorney General Hisham Barakat. Nine other people died in the car bombing which wounded dozens of others. A separate car bombing and mortar attack in the city of El Arish has left at least 32 people dead as well, according to The Guardian newspaper, which reported that ISIS terror group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis — now known as “Province of Sinai” — has taken responsibility for the attack on an army barracks, an army-owned hotel and a polcie headquarters. DEBKA military sources also report that US Middle East forces located in Jordan and at Sharm el-Sheikh are on the ready in case the Islamic State decides to attack the US officers and men at the Multinational Force facility in Sinai, which is located near the Sheikh Zuwaid battlefield.

Syria Headline: Fresh violence hit Homs as clashes intensified between Syrian army and ISIS militants
At least 10 people, including two children, were killed in Syrian government airstrikes on the rebel-held Damascus suburb of Douma Tuesday, an activist group monitoring the war said. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said another 50 people were injured in the strikes, adding the death toll was likely to rise because a number of the wounded were in serious condition and other residents missing under rubble.

The Local Coordination Committees says the attack on the town of Ihsim killed 17 people and wounded dozens. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 18 were killed, including four members of the same family. Syria Headline: Syrian Kurds say thwart big Islamic State attack on border town
According to the Syrian Observatory on Human Rights (SOHR), armed militias have already captured an entire district in the east of Tal Abyad. The town serves as a key supply route for ISIS and many Western fighters use the crossing to enter the group’s territory on their way to their self-declared capital in Raqqa. ISIS rebels took control of Tal Abyad last year but Kurdish forces had declared just days ago that the town was back in their hands.

Headline: Clarion Project Claims 42 Million Muslims Support ISIS
Headline: New ISIS Video: The Reward for Jihad Is Doubled in the Month of Ramadhan
The Clarion Project, a neocon nonprofit that has produced videos warning of the dangers of Islam, has released a study claiming 42 million Muslims support the Islamic State and its brutality. Ryan Mauro told the Daily Express “ISIS is only a fraction of what it could potentially become.” If we don’t act quickly, this is still going to grow – and what we’re looking at today is going to look like the good old days compared to the future,” he said. The Clarion Project report is based on figures from a March 2015 poll by the Iraq-based Independent Institute for Administration and Civil Society Studies, a November 2014 poll by Zogby Research Services, a November 2014 poll by the Doha-based Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and an October 2014 poll by the Fikra Forum commissioned by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, according to Fox News. In October, David Horowitz’s Freedom Center claimed 80% of Muslims in London support ISIS. “Good luck with your integration and your moderate Islam,” wrote Daniel Greenfield.

Headline: FBI sets up 56 centers to monitor Fourth of July terror threat
Headline: ISIS Publishes Map of July 4th FBI Command Centers
The FBI is setting up command centers at all of its 56 field offices across the country ahead of the July 4 weekend, to monitor any potential terrorist threats, law enforcement sources have revealed. Sources told Fox News that local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. will be reporting any information about possible attacks to these command centers – where officials will decide how to respond. The move comes amid growing fears that the terror group ISIS is working to awaken sleeper cells in Western nations, after sympathizers were linked to three back-to-back attacks in France, Kuwait and Tunisia last Friday. While the FBI says there has been no specific credible threat so far, it seems to be more active in its warnings and actions ahead of Independence Day this year than previously.

Headline: Syria’s Kurds warn Turkey not to intervene militarily
Syria’s main Kurdish party warned Turkey on Wednesday that any military intervention would threaten international peace and said the country’s main Kurdish militia is ready to face any “aggression.” The statement by the Democratic Union Party, or PYD, comes as Turkish media is abuzz with talk of a long-debated military intervention to push the Islamic State group back from the Turkish border — a move that would also outflank any Kurdish attempt to create a state along Turkey’s southern frontier. “Any military intervention in Rojava will have local, regional and international repercussions and will contribute to complicating the political situation in Syria and the Middle East and threaten international security and peace,” the PYD statement warned. Rojava is a term that refers to Syria’s predominantly Kurdish region. The PYD called on NATO members to prevent Turkey from carrying out any “reckless” intervention. It added that Syria’s Kurds want good relations with their neighbors and have no intention to set up an independent state.

Iran and six world powers have extended into next week their talks on finding a comprehensive agreement of Tehran’s nuclear programme. The deadline for reaching an agreement was 30 June, but all parties agreed to extend it by another week, to 7 July. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that a deal was now “within reach”. But US President Barack Obama has said he will still “walk away from the negotiations if… it’s a bad deal”. And Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani warned: “If the other side breaches the deal, we will go back to the old path, stronger than what they can imagine.”

Headline: Suicide bomber targeting American forces convoy blows himself up in Kabul
A suicide bomber blew himself up in Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul Tuesday, within 500 meters of the American embassy and reportedly targeting an American forces convoy, a source tells Fox News. There were no reports of injuries or casualties, an Interior Ministry official tells Fox News. An American Humvee was partially affected by the blast, according to witnesses. The attacker was driving an explosives-packed vehicle, the Associated Press reported. Police on the scene said casualties were expected. “It was a suicide car bomber, there are casualties but it is too early to know the extent of the damage,” said Kabul deputy police chief Sayed Gulagha. A spokesman for the NATO mission in Afghanistan, US Army Col. Brian Tribus, said that a coalition convoy had been attacked. “We can confirm there was an attack on coalition forces. We are gathering information,” he said. The explosion happened at 1.20 p.m. on the main airport road in eastern Kabul. The blast sent a huge plume of black smoke over the city. It happened as government employees were leaving their offices and roads were choked with vehicles as the working day is shortened during the Ramadan fasting month.

Headline: Fighting between Afghan, Pakistani forces on border kills one
Border clashes between Pakistani and Afghan security forces broke out Wednesday morning, officials said, killing at least one person and potentially undermining efforts by both sides to improve relations. One Afghan border policeman was killed in the fighting near the border town of Angoor Adda, Afghan Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said in Kabul. Pakistan’s military said two troops were injured and none were killed. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has tried to improve relations with his nuclear-armed neighbor to the east, saying unless the two sides work together, they will never end the war with hardline Islamist Taliban insurgents who threaten both countries. His overtures have drawn criticism among Afghan critics, and border clashes such as the one Wednesday threaten to raise tensions. Afghan spokesman Sediqqi indicated that the fighting started when Pakistan attempted to build an illegal structure on the border. “Afghan border police intervened and exchanged fire. As a result, one Afghan border policeman was killed,” he said. The Pakistani military said in a statement that the clashes were touched off by Afghan firing.

Headline: South Sudan Military Is Accused of Widespread Abuses
South Sudan’s army has burned people alive, raped and shot girls, and forced tens of thousands from their homes, according to interviews with survivors by The Associated Press and corroborated by human rights groups. The scorched earth campaign is apparently aimed at driving civilians out of the rebel-controlled parts of an oil-rich state, according to Human Rights Watch. South Sudan’s military is trying to depopulate the rural areas of Unity state through violence and hunger, said the group. The tactics, which include the alleged burning of grain stocks and the looting of life-sustaining property like cattle, are believed to be part of efforts to drain the rebels of their support base. “They are trying to destroy our lives,” said survivor Angelina Nyaboth Chap Tang, who fled to a U.N. base in the state capital of Bentiu. “I lost my son. I lost my grain. I lost my cattle. Everything has been destroyed.” Tang said armed men killed her son in an attack two weeks ago in which her village was torched, grain stocks destroyed and cattle looted. Another survivor, Theresa Nyakama, said she lived off wild plants for a month before seeking shelter with the U.N. in Bentiu, where some 28,000 civilians have fled since the start of the offensive in May. Although both warring factions in South Sudan’s current conflict are accused of carrying out widespread abuses against civilians, government troops are increasingly reported to have committed large-scale atrocities in conflict zones where the rebels are perceived to have support.

Headline: Tunisia terrorist cell promises more attacks in video
For the security services of Tunisia and those connected to them, this latest atrocity not only marks the arrival of the Islamic State (IS) on Tunisia’s shores, but it also carries with it the sure promise of further violence to come from sources they are not equipped to predict. Since December 2014 and with increasing frequency since, IS has been making its ambitions for Tunisia ever clearer. On May 18, hitherto unknown Tunisian terrorist cell, the Mujahideen Tunisia Kairouan, declared both its presence within Tunisia and fealty to IS, giving the terror group its first tangible foothold within North Africa’s most celebrated democracy. On June 28, it published a further video featuring Rezgui and footage of an attack it claimed was aborted due to the presence of good Muslims, a distinction echoing that of Rezgui’s on Friday. Chillingly, the video promised more attacks. “I think we can assume that Rezgui was one of the ‘lone wolves’ of the Mujahideen Tunisia Kairouan,” Tarek Kahlaoui, a researcher on jihad and ex-director of the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies said.

Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)
Headline: Bombers attack Nigeria’s Maiduguri while vice president visits camps
Two suicide bombers blew themselves up near a hospital in Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria on Wednesday, shortly after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo arrived in the city to visit camps for people fleeing a militant Islamist insurgency. The blasts injured two people and happened at about 11.30 a.m. (1030 GMT) near the gates of a hospital where suicide bombers killed three people and injured 16 last Saturday, a military source and a witness told Reuters. “The second blast occurred two minutes after the first one, killed the bomber and injured two other people nearby,” said Mohammed Haruna, who helped to evacuate people from the scene. Maiduguri has been the target of several attacks since Muhammadu Buhari, president of Africa’s most populous nation and biggest economy, made it the command center for the campaign against Boko Haram militants after being inaugurated on May 29. It was not immediately clear whether the bombers had been targeting the hospital again or whether the bombs had gone off accidently.

Clashes between Burundian police and an “armed group” in the capital city of Bujumbura have left at least six people dead, including one officer. Police sources said at least three grenades exploded and gunfire was used in the Cibitoke district, which is the opposition stronghold. The incident is the latest in weeks of unrest, and comes as the country awaits the results from the June 29 elections that were boycotted by the opposition and widely condemned. The election commission claimed a huge turnout in the local and general elections, despite many polling stations seeming to be quiet. Despite international outcry, Monday’s elections will be followed by the presidential vote slated for July 17.

Headline: Protests Mark Handover Anniversary in Hong Kong
Hundreds of pro-democracy activists took to the streets of Hong Kong Wednesday as the city marks the 18th anniversary of its handover from British to Chinese rule. Thousands of police were on standby for the annual march, the first large-scale protest since police forcibly cleared pro-democracy demonstrators from the streets late last year. The protest comes less than two weeks after pro-democracy legislators blocked a China-backed proposal that would have let a committee of elites screen candidates for the city’s first leadership election. Around 500,000 pro-democracy protesters joined the July 1 march last year, when police arrested more than 500 people who blocked a road in the financial district, in what was seen as a prelude to the massive 79-day Occupy movement of civil disobedience that kicked off in September. The protesters decried Beijing’s reform proposal as a plan for “fake democracy,” saying it did not fulfill a promise to hold democratic elections by 2017.

Around 1,200 prisoners, including al Qaeda suspects, escaped during clashes at a jail in central Yemen on Tuesday, officials said. The incident is the biggest in a series of prison breaks that have freed Yemeni militants in recent years and signals the further erosion of the state amid a raging civil war. “Groups of al Qaeda supporters … today attacked the central prison in the city of Taiz and more than 1,200 of the dangerous prisoners escaped,” state news agency Saba quoted a security official as saying. Another local official told Reuters some of the escapees were “suspected of belonging to al Qaeda” but said they left amid heavy clashes between warring militias in the city.

Russian gas purchases have been suspended by Ukraine after a breakdown in talks aimed at keeping supplies running for three to six months. The Ukrainian state energy company, Naftogaz, said it would continue transporting Russian gas supplies to other European customers. It will be the second time in less than a year that Russian fuel supplies have stopped running to Ukraine. Russian energy minister Alexander Novak called the decision “unfortunate”. Moscow hiked prices after Kremlin-backed leader Viktor Yanukovych was ousted in February 2014. It cut off gas supplies in June 2014 as the conflict between the government in Kiev and pro-Russian rebels in the east escalated. Since then, the European Union, which mediated at the price negotiations in Vienna, has forged a series of temporary agreements that need to be renewed every three months.

Headline: Obama signs trade bills into law, says tough battle still ahead
U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday signed into law legislation that gives him “fast-track” power to push ahead on a Pacific Rim trade deal that has been the subject of intense debate in Congress and across the nation. Flanked by some of the lawmakers who supported the bill through a six-week congressional battle, Obama acknowledged that his fight to secure the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership was far from over. “We still have some tough negotiations that are going to be taking place,” Obama said at a signing ceremony. He noted that lawmakers and the public will be able to scrutinize the trade deal before it is finalized. “The debate will not end with this bill signing,” he said. The package also included aid for workers who lose their jobs as a result of trade, and an Africa trade preferences bill. Obama wants the trade deal to be a central part of his administration’s foreign policy pivot to Asia and to help serve as a counterweight to the economic might of China. Headline: Turkey ‘ready to help’ Greece out of economic crisis
Greek leader Alexis Tsipras made a last ditch attempt to reach a deal on Tuesday (30 June) by offering to accept most of creditors’ demands in return for a new €29 billion loan but Germany’s Angela Merkel has said there will be no negotiations until Greece’s referendum on 5 July – a referendum that it is itself clouded in confusion. Tsipras’ letter to the EU commission, European Central Bank, and IMF said he would accept proposals laid out by creditors with amendments that included a reduction on VAT for Greek islands and maintaining some pension supplements. It came as Greece’s second bailout expired at midnight on Tuesday along with a deadline to pay back a bill to the IMF – with its default putting it in a small club of nations that include Zimbabwe, Somalia and Sudan. It also means the country is without an international financial lifeline for the first time since 2010 – bringing more uncertainty for the Greek people who are already faced with closed banks and a €60 cap on daily cash withdrawals. However an evolution in the process is set to come only after Sunday’s referendum.

Headline: Puerto Rico governor calls for bankruptcy; adviser says island ‘insolvent’
Headline: Puerto Rico poses bigger threat to U.S. investors than Greece
Puerto Rico’s governor on Monday called for the commonwealth to be allowed to restructure its debts under U.S. bankruptcy code, while a newly appointed adviser to the U.S. territory said it is “insolvent” and will soon run out of cash. Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla, in a televised address, said sacrifice must be shared by bondholders, as he called for Washington to allow a bankruptcy debt restructuring. The Caribbean island is struggling to relieve a $73 billion debt burden. It came to a crunch point on Monday – ironically at the same time as did debt-laden Greece – after a dire report on its stability by former International Monetary Fund economists was released ahead of key deadlines on Wednesday to repay debt. Steven Rhodes, the retired U.S. bankruptcy judge who oversaw Detroit’s historic bankruptcy and has now been retained by Puerto Rico to help solve its problems, gave a blunt assessment on Monday. Puerto Rico “urgently needs our help,” Rhodes said. “It can no longer pay its debts, it will soon run out of cash to operate, its residents and businesses will suffer,” he added. Puerto Rico’s bonds skidded on Monday as investors sought greater compensation amid the heightened risk. Puerto Rico is not eligible for debt restructuring under the U.S. bankruptcy code because it is not a municipality.

Headline: Ebola crisis: Liberia quarantine after death
Liberia’s authorities have quarantined the area where a 17-year-old boy died of Ebola. This is the first reported case of Ebola in Liberia since it was declared free of the disease seven weeks ago. Deputy health minister Tolbert Nyenswah said tests confirmed that the teenager from Nedowein village, near the international airport, had died of the disease on 28 June. Officials are investigating how he contracted Ebola, Mr Nyenswah said. More than 11,000 people have died of the disease since December 2013, the vast majority of them in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. The countries had largely curbed the spread of the disease – but the number of new cases has risen recently, with the start of the rainy season in West Africa.

Headline: Mozambique decriminalizes gay and lesbian relationships
Mozambique has decriminalised homosexuality in its new penal code, making it one of a few African countries where same-sex relationships are legal. The revised code, in force from Wednesday, drops a colonial-era clause outlawing “vices against nature”. There were no prosecutions under that clause but rights activists have said this change is a symbolic victory. It comes as other African countries have moved to tighten anti-gay laws. In Nigeria, a law that came into force last year banned same-sex public displays of affection and introduced a possible 14-year prison sentence for gay sex. A study released on Tuesday found that 87% of Nigerians supported a ban on same-sex relations. In Uganda, the government has pledged to introduce a new restrictive law after the last law which criminalised homosexuality was successfully challenged in the constitutional court. Mozambican rights activists say that the changes in their country could have an impact elsewhere on the continent.

Headline: Teen Leads Mob In Ransacking Of Georgia Walmart
Led by a teenage boy throwing gang signs, a mob of vandals descended on a Walmart store in Georgia early Sunday and trashed the business in a reported attempt to “see how much damage they could cause,” police allege. During the 1:45 AM ransacking of the Walmart in Macon, rioters pulled a patron from an electric wheelchair and dragged him to the floor, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office report. As seen below, a Walmart surveillance camera recorded the vandals racing through store aisles. Investigators say that a “crowd of 40-50 individuals consisting of black males and females” were led into the store by Kharron Green, 17, who can be seen on surveillance video “presenting gang signs in the air with his hands.” For about a minute, Green & Co. ran through store aisles “destroying merchandise and vandalizing the property,” cops reported. Upon arriving at the trashed Walmart, a deputy noted that one aisle was “destroyed and coated with broken merchandise” and that the “length of the store from front to rear was lined with items which had been shattered, destroyed, turned over and thrown about.”

Headline: Now’s the Time To End Tax Exemptions for Religious Institutions
The Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage makes it clearer than ever that the government shouldn’t be subsidizing religion and non-profits. Two weeks ago, with a decision in Obergefell v. Hodges on the way, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah introduced the First Amendment Defense Act, which ensures that religious institutions won’t lose their tax exemptions if they don’t support same-sex marriage. Liberals tend to think Sen. Lee’s fears are unwarranted, and they can even point to Justice Anthony Kennedy’s opinion in Friday’s case, which promises “that religious organizations and persons [will be] given proper protection.” But I don’t think Sen. Lee is crazy. In the 1983 Bob Jones University case, the court ruled that a school could lose tax-exempt status if its policies violated “fundamental national public policy.” So far, the Bob Jones reasoning hasn’t been extended to other kinds of discrimination, but someday it could be. I’m a gay-rights supporter who was elated by Friday’s Supreme Court decision — but I honor Sen. Lee’s fears. I don’t, however, like his solution. And he’s not going to like mine. Rather than try to rescue tax-exempt status for organizations that dissent from settled public policy on matters of race or sexuality, we need to take a more radical step. It’s time to abolish, or greatly diminish, their tax-exempt statuses.

Activist Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, is demanding the U.S. military conduct a purge of chaplains who holds to the traditional teaching of homosexuality and marriage espoused by the first commander in chief, George Washington. Weinstein claims chaplains who are “maintaining the state of antagonism between their religion and the sexual/gender identities of service members” have no business serving in the military. “Nobody is arguing that these losers don’t have a right to their religious beliefs,” wrote Weinstein in an op-ed. “At this stage, the only honorable thing that these losers can do is to fold up their uniforms, turn in their papers, and get the hell out of the American military chaplaincy. If they are unwilling or too cowardly to do so, then the Department of Defense must expeditiously cleanse itself of the intolerant filth that insists on lingering in the ranks of our armed forces.” Meanwhile, Two street preachers were brutally beaten — punched and kicked — by a crowd at a gay pride festival in Seattle and the entire melee was captured on video. The preachers were holding signs reading “Repent or Else” and “Jesus Saves From Sin.” The video shows a group of people initially screaming and threatening the men during Pridefest at the Seattle Space Needle.

Headline: Explosive helium is leaking from massive earthquake fault under Los Angeles
A huge fault in the Earth’s crust near Los Angeles is leaking helium, researchers have found. They say the unexpected find sheds new light on the Newport-Inglewood Fault Zone in the Los Angeles Basin. It reveals the fault is far deeper than previously thought, and a quake would be far more devastating. It follows a report from the U.S. Geological Survey has warned the risk of ‘the big one’ hitting California has increased dramatically. UC Santa Barbara geologist Jim Boles found evidence of helium leakage from the Earth’s mantle along a 30-mile stretch of the Newport-Inglewood Fault Zone in the Los Angeles Basin. He claims the results show that the Newport-Inglewood fault is deeper than scientists previously thought. Using samples of casing gas from two dozen oil wells ranging from LA’s Westside to Newport Beach in Orange County, Boles discovered that more than one-third of the sites show evidence of high levels of helium-3 (3He). ‘The results are unexpected for the area, because the LA Basin is different from where most mantle helium anomalies occur,’ said Boles, professor emeritus in UCSB’s Department of Earth Science.

Headline: 5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Felt Throughout Israel
Tremors from a 5.2 magnitude earthquake were felt throughout Israel Saturday, at around 6:30 p.m. The earthquake’s epicenter was some four kilometers southeast of Nuweiba, in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula which borders southern Israel. But the tremors were felt throughout Israel as well, from Be’er Sheva, Arad and Eilat in the south, to Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Rehovot in central Israel, and even as far north as Nahariya, Acco and Afula. No damage or injuries were caused. Flights from Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport were halted for ten minutes, due to the tremors which were felt there as well. After a series of checks on runways and technical equipment, flights were quickly resumed.

Headline: Flotilla MK Ghattas: Don’t Try And Stop Us
The IDF is scrambling to face the threats of another “Freedom Flotilla” arriving in Gaza Sunday, security officials revealed – and may have to use force. As of Sunday morning, the ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ is comprised of 47 people on 4 boats – Marianne with 18 people, the Rachel with 12 people, Vagoliano with 12 people, and the Vitrio with 9 people. Tens of activists are rumored to be attempting to join; a fifth ship is due to join as well, but as of Sunday morning has not. A security official explained Saturday night to Walla! News that the IDF is prepared to act with this flotilla as they did in the past – and hinted to the Mavi Marmara incident of 2010, where Shayetet 13 stormed the vessel after the flotilla ignored several demands to stand down. Israeli authorities discovered the vessel to be carrying no humanitarian aid – in fact, no aid supplies at all – indicating how the true goal of the provocative move was to open Gaza to free naval access, which it has consistently used to smuggle in weapons to be targeted against Israel.

Headline: Israeli navy peacefully intercepts Gaza-bound vessel
Israel’s navy intercepted a vessel attempting to breach a naval blockade of Gaza early Monday and was redirecting it to an Israeli port, the military and the activists said. The military said that after exhausting all diplomatic efforts the government ordered it to block the Swedish vessel. Israeli naval forces visited the Marianne ship and searched it in international waters without needing to use any force, the military said. The ship was carrying about 20 activists, including Israeli Arab lawmaker Basel Ghattas and former Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki. The Freedom Flotilla group posted a photo on Twitter apparently showing a group of its activists onboard a ship. It said in the post that Israeli forces intercepted the Marianne and it was currently en route to Ashdod port. Calls to Ghattas and his assistant rang unanswered.

Headline: Palestinian Arab Hunger Striker to be Released
Israel last August 26 ended Operation Protective Edge by sealing a ceasefire agreement with a confederation of terrorist organizations in Gaza, foremost among them Hamas and Islamic Jihad, but that deal now appears to be on the brink of collapse. Khaled Al-Batash, a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad terrorist group, announced his organization may soon breach the agreement, in statements made during a speech to Islamic Jihad members at an event showing support for Khader Adnan, a jailed Islamic Jihad leader hunger-striking in an Israeli prison. Al-Batash said that if Adnan dies as a result of his hunger-strike, the ceasefire with Israel will end, and “the enemy, the security of its settlers and cities, will be the target of the Islamic Jihad.” “Khader Adnan may suddenly die at any moment, doctors have confirmed to me,” Jawad Boulos, legal counsel for the Ramallah-based Prisoners Club of the Palestinian Authority (PA) told AFP on Saturday. In 2012 Adnan was released from prison after a 66-day hunger strike.

Headline: France Pushes New Plan for Israel-PA Talks
France wants a new international group made up of the United States, European powers and Arab countries to be set up to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Monday. “It could be a sort of Quartet-plus,” Fabius told reporters, according to AFP, referring to the foursome led by former British prime minister Tony Blair that included the United States, Russia, the European Union. Fabius said including Arab states “makes sense” because they have a role to play in the peace process and have put forward a plan in 2002 that the foreign minister described as “interesting.” The 2002 Arab Peace Initiative calls for an Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria in exchange for full normalization of ties between Israel and the Arab world. “It will be necessary to have an international accompanying body,” Fabius told reporters in New York where he was to attend a United Nations meeting on climate change.

Headline: Syria, Hizballah torpedo understanding between Druze and Syrian rebel Nusra Front near Israeli border
Syrian ruler Bashar Assad and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah have gone all out to stir up adversity between the Druze communities of the Golan and Israel, and the Syrian rebel Al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front. To torpedo the armistice deal brokered between them earlier this month by the US, Jordan and Israel, 200 Syrian and Hezbollah troops were pumped into the Druze village of Khader on the Syrian Golan, 3 km from the Israeli border. Since Friday, June 26, these troops have been attacking Nusra and the other Syrian rebel groups fighting to capture the Golan town of Quneitra. This has stalled the rebel operation for taking control of the highway to Damascus. Rockets from this battle strayed over to the Israeli side of Golan Sunday. debkafile’s military sources reveal that Nusra hit back over the weekend. They warned Druze leaders that if they don’t stop cooperating with Assad and Nasrallah, “their blood will be on their heads.” Fighters of this Islamist group then surrounded another, smaller Druze village, Skaska, on the western slopes of Jabal Druze and threatened to go in and massacre its inhabitants. The Nusra ultimatum, posted Saturday, June 28, made it clear that since Syrian and Hezbollah are firing against them from a Druze village, the Druze are held responsible for getting it stopped. Otherwise, they will be deemed collaborators of the Assad regime and in violation of the non-belligerence deal struck between them earlier this month. Our sources add that Syria and Hezbollah accompanied the 200-man force which infiltrated Khader, with Iranian and Syrian television crews and a group of Lebanese Druze members. The footage they showed was intended to demonstrate to the world that Lebanese Druze strongly challenged the Syrian rebel takeover of southern Syria including the Golan, and sided with Bashar Assad. ***See ETRM Facebook or Twitter page regarding the weekend rocket attacks in Golan

Headline: Car bomb attack kills Egypt’s top public prosecutor
Egypt’s top public prosecutor died of wounds sustained in a car bomb attack on his convoy as it was leaving his home on Monday, the most senior state official killed in militant violence since the toppling of an Islamist president two years ago. Monday’s attack stirred fears of yet more turmoil in Egypt, which has been struggling since the 2011 popular uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak to regain full-fledged stability and revive the economy of the Arab world’s most populous country. The bombing also showed the risk of militant Islam threatening the Egyptian state leadership as it did in the 1980s and 1990s.

Syria Headline: Islamic State uses US-made anti-tank missiles in Hasakah offensive
An Islamic State (ISIS) group suicide bomber killed at least 20 regime troops in Hasakeh city in northeast Syria on Friday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said, according to the AFP news agency. “The attack by a booby-trapped car targeted the criminal security service headquarters in the south of the city” where deadly clashes have been under way since Thursday, the Britain-based monitor said. The attack came hours after the Observatory said ISIS had killed 164 civilians in its offensive on the Kurdish town of Kobane, describing it as one of the jihadists’ “worst massacres” in Syria. The killing spree, which took place mostly inside Kobane itself, was widely seen as vengeance for a series of defeats inflicted on the jihadists by Kurdish militia in recent weeks. At least 120 civilians were killed in a 24-hour rampage on Kobane, and another 26 were executed in a nearby village, the Observatory said.

Syria Headline: ISIS raids kill 40 Syrian troops in central Syria: activists
ISIS militants have killed at least 40 Syrian government forces in consecutive attacks on three checkpoints in central Syria, activists said Saturday. In less than two hours of clashes on Friday, ISIS seized the checkpoints near Sheikh Hilal, a village in Syria’s Hama province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. “The clashes killed 40 government loyalists, including soldiers and members of the National Defense Forces,” a local pro-government militia, said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman. He told AFP that the ISIS militants later withdrew from the checkpoints when it appeared that government forces in the region had called for reinforcements. “There’s fighting almost every day in this area, but usually the toll is two or three people. Forty is very high,” he told AFP. The checkpoints lie along a road used by government forces to dispatch reinforcements to Aleppo in the north, where the regime has been battling rebel groups since 2012. “If they seize control of this road, they’ll cut off the regime forces in Aleppo, since the government won’t be able to send reinforcements or supplies there,” Abdel Rahman said.

It described it as a “terrorist attack” without giving further details. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but insurgents based in the Eastern Ghouta region near Damascus have carried out rocket and mortar bomb attacks on the capital in the past.

Headline: Turkey readies Syria ground incursion
Turkey wants to construct more walls along its border with Syria to strengthen security against Islamic State militants and crack down on illegal border crossings, senior officials told Reuters on Saturday. Turkey shares a more than 900 km (560 mile) border with Syria, and much recent fighting has taken place on its doorstep. On Saturday Syrian Kurdish fighters secured the town of Kobani near the Turkish border, two days after Islamic State launched a deadly attack in the area. Turkey has already erected more than 10 km of walls along its borders, supported by additional measures such as thermal cameras. Now, the government wants to add to that and is considering adding portable concrete walls in some locations, two officials told Reuters. The portable walls, which are made up of concrete slabs, can be taken down and reassembled in different locations. Ankara decided that constructing a wall along the length of the border would be too costly. The officials declined to say how long a wall the government was looking to build, or where it would put it. ***The second headline : “Erdogan Vows Turkey Will ‘Never Allow’ Kurdish State in Syria”; we’ve been seeing almost daily news stories about Turkey ‘warning’ the US and everyone else that they won’t allow a Kurdish nation. Headline: On eve of Iran deal, US retreats on inspections of nuclear past, speeds up sanctions relief
Former CIA Director Michael Hayden said Sunday that the United States has lost its edge going into the final days of a nuclear negotiation with Iran. “I would actually fear that the Iranians have the upper hand right now,” Hayden said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I actually fear we have painted ourselves into a corner where we believe that any deal is better than no deal at the present time.” Hayden said the framework of the deal doesn’t go far enough in preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear arsenal in the future. On Sunday, U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News that world powers meeting in Vienna to hammer out the nuclear deal will miss their June 30 deadline. Iran’s foreign minister Mohammed Javad Zarif’s returned home for consultations on Sunday. Zarif is expected to return to Vienna to join counterparts from other countries at the negotiating table to push for a breakthrough on the talks. U.S. officials said they are “unconcerned” about the pace of talks and that Zarif’s trip home had been scheduled in advance.

The United States supported the secret supply of weapons to Libyan rebels while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State according to federal court documents obtained by Fox News. In a sworn declaration to the District Court of Arizona May 5th 2015, a career CIA officer David Manners said, “It was then, and remains now, my opinion that the United States did participate, directly or indirectly, in the supply of weapons to the Libyan Transitional National Council.” The timing matters because in the Spring of 2011 the Libyan opposition was not formally recognized, and the direct supply of arms was not authorized. At that time, the CIA Director was David Petraeus.

Headline: Armenians continue protest despite suspension of power price rise
Thousands of Armenians launched a second week of protests on Monday against a hike in electricity prices, rejecting the government’s concession to suspend the increase temporarily. The government decided on Saturday to cover the price rise out of state funds, rather than increase customers’ bills, until an independent audit of the electricity supply company is completed. But thousands of protesters remained at their sit-in on an avenue near the presidential palace in the capital Yerevan, while hundreds moved to nearby Freedom Square. “We will stay here until our demand is fulfilled … Electricity tariff rises will lead to rises in all other prices,” activist Hmayk Mkrtchyan told Reuters. The crowd, which has tended to dwindle during the day but swell again at night, has made barricades of rubbish bins and carries posters with slogans like “I’m not going to pay! Will you?” and “Stop robbing people!” The rally has been peaceful since last Tuesday, when police used water cannon against demonstrators and detained about 200 but were unable to break up the rally.

Muhammadu Buhari, the new president of Africa’s most populous nation and biggest economy, made Maiduguri the command center for the military campaign against Islamist militant group Boko Haram after being inaugurated last month. More than 100 people have been killed in northeast Nigeria in the past few weeks in a spate of bombings, mostly in Maiduguri.

Headline: Suicide blast in Chad capital kills 11 during police raid
Suspected Boko Haram fighters blew themselves up during a police raid in Chad’s capital early on Monday, killing five officers and six militants, police and government officials said. The raid of an illegal arms cache was part of a security operation aimed at dismantling a network of Boko Haram militants blamed for twin suicide bombings in N’Djamena on June 15. The apparently synchronised attacks were the most deadly that Western ally Chad has known and killed 34 people.“After an interrogation, a suspect showed us a house for building bombs,” said interior minister Abderahim Bireme Hamid. “When we arrived on the scene at 5 a.m. our forces came across the…terrorists who blew themselves up.”A police officer who participated in the raid said one of the militants was wearing an explosive belt and detonated it as police arrived.A Reuters witness outside the house in N’Djamena’s eastern neighbourhood of Diguel saw Red Cross workers load at least four white bodybags onto a truck. The torso of one of the dead lay in the sand outside the house.Prosecutor Alghassim Khamiss said the house was an arms cache and that authorities had seized a large number of home-made explosives and eight mortars there.

Jihadists have attacked, and briefly held, the small Malian village of Fakola, just miles away from the border with Ivory Coast on Sunday. The attack marks the second time in a month that jihadists in Mali have attacked close to the West African country. It is also the second jihadist assault in two days in the lower half of the country. The Associated Press, quoting a local Malian official, said “armed individuals identifying as jihadists today attacked the village of Fakola. They came on motorcycles.” A Malian military police official said that the attackers carried the “black jihadist flag” and exclaimed “Allahu Akbar,” or “God is the Greatest,” during the attack. The AP also reported that the jihadists burned down many administrative buildings, and a building being used as a headquarters for the military police in the area. However, no military police personnel were in the city when the attack began. No casualty numbers have been given at the time of this writing, however, the AP notes that the Malian army was able to regain control of the town after arriving on scene and driving the jihadists out. This is the second attack this month to have taken place near Ivory Coast.

Headline: Bahrain hit by fresh anti-regime protests
Bahraini protesters have held fresh demonstrations against the ruling Al Khalifa regime in different parts of the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom. Anti-regime protesters rallied in the towns of Nuwaidrat, Eker, and Bilad al-Qadim on Sunday. Security forces attacked the protesters, who were demanding the release of all political prisoners, including the main opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman. On June 16, a Bahraini court sentenced Salman, who is the secretary general of Bahrain’s main opposition party, al-Wefaq, to four years in prison on charges including insulting the Interior Ministry and inciting others to break the law. He was acquitted on charges of seeking regime change.

Headline: Saudi soldier killed in cross-border shelling from Yemen
Yemen’s Houthi fighters fired missiles at storage tanks at an Aden refinery on Saturday, starting a large fire, and 14 people were killed in clashes between the Houthis and Saudi-led forces near the southern port city, witnesses and residents said. The attack on the refinery in the Buraiqah area sent black smoke billowing into the sky. After months of conflict, Yemen is suffering from severe fuel shortages and its oil and gas industry has all but ground to a halt. Industry sources said in April that the 150,000 barrels per day refinery had shut its operations and declared force majeure on its imports and exports due to the war. In northern Aden, medical sources reported eight civilians were killed, including a woman and her three children, in random shelling by Houthi fighters on residential areas in the al Mansoura and Sheikh Othman districts. Four people from the Yemen’s southern resistance movement and 10 Houthis were killed in clashes early on Saturday near Aden, sources from the resistance movement and residents said. The fighting took place in Ja’wala and Bir Ahmed, north of Aden.

Headline: 60,000 military involved in E. Ukraine op
The number of government troops deployed in the conflict in eastern Ukraine has reached 60,000 troops, according to President Petro Poroshenko. The statement comes as the total of Ukrainian refugees has exceeded 900,000 people, according to UN. On Thursday, the Ukrainian president signed amendments allowing the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine, as part of an international peacekeeping force. The law also has the provision to let the country have weapons of mass destruction stationed there. At present, 380 American and 75 British troopers are training Ukrainian soldiers, but in the autumn members of the Canadian military could join their ranks. The two-year agreement was reached at a meeting of Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Stepan Poltorak and his Canadian counterpart Jason Kenney on Saturday, RIA Novosti reported. British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon said on Wednesday: “We are doubling up our training of Ukrainian forces. We’ve already trained around 650. By this autumn we will have trained nearly 1,000,” as cited by Reuters. “We’ve already been training in battlefield medicine, infantry skills, logistics, in tactical intelligence,” Fallon added.

Headline: Austrians launch petition to quit EU
Austrians have launched a petition to quit the EU, arguing that the nation will be better off economically if it leaves the union. To force the national parliament to consider the initiative activists need to have gathered 100,000 signatures by July 1. The petition was started by a retired 66-year-old translator, Inge Rauscher, who has collected enough signatures to launch an official campaign. The plea seeks to request that the national parliament debate the idea of a referendum on quitting the EU. However, to get that issue even discussed, the petition must gather 100,000 signatures. “We want to go back to a neutral and peace-loving Austria,” Rauscher said at the start of the campaign this week. Austrians have until July 1 to sign the petition which they can do in municipal or district offices.

Headline: World markets plunge, bank lines grow as Greece financial crisis deepens
Headline: Gov’t Official: Default Tomorrow…
Long lines formed at ATMs and bank branches across Greece Monday as the nation’s financial crisis worsened, limiting cash withdrawals and causing global markets to plunge. Senior citizens looking to collect their monthly government benefits swarmed closed bank branches Monday in the hope of getting their checks, and lines formed at ATMs as bankers gradually began dispensing cash again following the imposition of strict controls on capital. Greece has imposed restrictions on money withdrawals and banking transactions to keep its financial system from collapsing due to a run on the banks. The government has imposed a stringent daily limit of 60 euros ($67) on cash withdrawals from ATMs this week. The banks and the country’s stock market have been closed for the week after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ surprise call for a referendum next Sunday on creditor proposals for reforms Greece should take to gain access to blocked bailout funds. Tsipras is advocating Greeks reject the creditor proposals, in the popular vote, which increasingly has the look of a vote on euro membership itself.

North Korea threatened the United States on Monday after a guided missile cruiser arrived at Yokosuka Naval Base. Pyongyang’s state-controlled media outlet KCNA said the Aegis cruiser USS Chancellorsville was being deployed in Japan in response to North Korea’s nuclear threat, Yonhap reported. The move was not welcomed by North Korea, and KCNA said in a statement the United States had “better heed past warnings.” “The cloud of flames of a nuclear war is finally gathering en masse,” KCNA stated. “But the U.S. should heed the truth: We already have strategy and tactical missiles capable of a strong offense.” South Korean news network YTN reported KCNA also denounced U.S. plans to dispatch four drones to Misawa Air Base in Japan in July. “The U.S. imperial invasion has undoubtedly revealed its true colors,” North Korea said in statement. “From the fire they start, they themselves will burn as a result…and their ruin would only be accelerated,” Pyongyang said in reference to the “U.S. nuclear fanatics” fanning “nuclear war’s flames” on the Korean peninsula.

Headline: Week-long heat wave kills 1,233 people in southern Pakistan
A devastating weeklong heat wave in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi killed 1,233 people, an official said. Nazar Mohammad Bozdar, operations director at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, said about 65,000 heatstroke patients were treated by doctors at all of Karachi’s hospitals since June 20 when the heat wave struck Sindh province, where Karachi is the provincial capital. He told The Associated Press that 1,923 patients with heat-related ailments were still being treated. “The government quickly responded by making arrangements for the treatment of heatstroke patients and the situation has improved now,” he said. Pakistan’s deadliest heat wave on record coincided with the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, when Pakistan’s Muslim majority observed a dawn-to-dusk fast. The temperatures in Karachi came down to 93 degrees Fahrenheit after reaching 113 degrees Fahrenheit a week ago amid chronic power outages, which forced many residents to spend nights outdoors. The heat wave shocked many Pakistanis just weeks after soaring temperatures caused nearly 2,200 deaths in neighboring India.

Headline:The U.N.’s Treatment of Israel Summed Up in One Stunning Graphic
Headline: UN Chief Urges Israel to Restore Travel Permits to Gazans
It probably won’t come as a shock to know that since its formation in 2006, the United Nations Human Rights Council has passed more resolutions condemning Israel than any other country. But more eye-opening is that it’s condemned Israel more times than every other country combined. The Geneva-based U.N. Watch counted all of the resolutions out and summed up the findings in one stunning table:
Headline: PA Officially Submits Case against Israel at ICC
The Palestinian Authority has officially submitted the first batch of legal documents to the International Criminal Court in its attempt to have Israel prosecuted for “war crimes.” The Palestine Liberation Organization’s official Twitter feed posted pictures of some of the hundreds of documents it said were “just submitted” to the ICC at around 4 p.m. Thursday. It said the documents were concerning “settlements, Gaza and prisoners.” Earlier Thursday, the PA’s ambassador to the Netherlands told the Bethlehem-based Maan news agency that PA foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki was set to lead a delegation to the Hague to personally submit the documents at around 3 p.m., while acknowledging it could still be many years before the case was actually heard even if it is accepted. “It will take the ICC a long time to take action, possibly 5-10 years as this is one out of a hundred steps,” Nabil Abu Zneid said. The PA’s legal case is being drafted by “five senior international lawyers,” according to Maan. Ahead of the move, on Wednesday morning Palestinian National Initiative party head PLO Central Council member Mustafa Barghouti said the PA’s goal “is to prove war crimes were carried out so the chief prosecutor will launch an investigation.”

Headline: Vatican Signs Historic First Accord with ‘Palestine’
Headline: Vatican formally recognizes Palestine as a state
The Vatican on Friday signed an historic first accord with “Palestine,” two years after officially recognizing the Palestinian Authority (PA) as a state. The accord, a treaty covering the life and activity of the Church in Judea and Samaria, was the first since the Vatican made the controversial step of recognition in February 2013. It also recognizes the PA as having authority in eastern Jerusalem, the undivided capital of the Jewish state. The treaty, which took 15 years of negotiations to complete, was agreed in principle last month and condemned by Israel as a setback for the peace process. Signing international treaties unilaterally is a breach of the 1993 Oslo Accords which created the PA. Israel’s Foreign Ministry responded to the move, expressing its “regret regarding the Vatican decision to officially recognize the Palestinian Authority as a state, in the agreement signed today,” spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said in a statement. “This hasty step damages the prospects for advancing a peace agreement, and harms the international effort to convince the PA to return to direct negotiations with Israel,” he said. “We also regret the one sided texts in the agreement which ignore the historic rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel and to the places holy to Judaism in Jerusalem.” “Israel cannot accept the unilateral determinations in the agreement which do not take into account Israel’s essential interests and the special historic status of the Jewish people in Jerusalem,” he added. “Israel will study the agreement in detail, and its implications for future cooperation between Israel and the Vatican.” The Vatican’s recognition of “Palestine” followed a November 12 vote in favor of recognition by the UN General Assembly, although the Vatican is supposed to be an apolitical religious body.

Headline: Gaza Flotilla NGO Funded by French Government
Headline: First ship in Gaza-bound flotilla sets sail from Crete
One of the NGOs behind the latest anti-Israel flotilla to Gaza is funded by the French government, Arutz Sheva has learned. The Platform of French NGOs for Palestine (Plateforme des ONG françaises pour la Palestine) is among the groups supporting the Freedom Flotilla III, which seeks to directly defy the Israeli government’s blockade of the Hamas-ruled enclave. On Friday the Platform announced that the latest boat to join the flotilla, The Marianne of Gothenburg, had set sail from Sicily and was set to join four other vessels carrying some 70 anti-Zionist activists en route for Gaza. Among those on board will be former Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki, Spanish MEP Ana Maria Miranda Paza and Arab-Israeli MK Basel Ghattas (Joint List), whose planned presence has triggered widespread controversy in Israel. But another potentially controversial aspect of the flotilla that has been largely overlooked is the role played by European government-funded NGOs. The Platform of French NGOs for Palestine is an umbrella organization for more than 40 anti-Israel groups, and is very active in the so-called BDS (Boycott Divestment and Sanctions) movement against Israel. Among other things, the Platform demands an end to all agreements and relations between the European Union and Israel. It is also a regular recipient of French taxpayers’ money, via the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement or AFD), a public aid agency which works on behalf of the French government to carry out “sustainable development programs” around the world.

Headline: Israel Freezes Defense Aid Talks with US Pending Iran Deal
A joint meeting of senior representatives in the Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry and Prime Minister’s Office resulted in the decision to temporarily suspend dialogue with the United States regarding defense aid to the Jewish state. The freeze will remain in place until the conclusion of talks between Iran and P5+1 world powers on Tehran’s nuclear program, if not later. The main reason for suspending the dialogue, officials told Walla! News, is the mounting tension between the White House and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s government. According to a senior defense official, who confirmed the report, freezing talks now will allow Israel to present a new request for defense materials after a deal with Iran has been finalized. The official asserted that Israel is waiting for negotiations between Iran and Western powers to conclude, to see what exactly the US signs, and from there make demands for maintaining Israel’s security in the region. Other officials though have suggested Israel may prolong the freeze until a new US president is inaugurated in early 2017, thereby avoiding contact with current US President Barack Obama, whose relationship with Israel has been contentious. The pressure of a looming nuclear deal with Iran has also begun to affect US officials.

Headline: Terrorist Killed in Gun Battle with IDF Soldiers
An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Gaza, apparently belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization that rules the coastal enclave, breached Israeli airspace on Thursday afternoon. The drone crossed over the security border in southern Gaza, but soon thereafter fell to the ground even before the IDF decided whether or not to shoot it out of the sky. IDF engineering corps forces retrieved the vehicle in order to inspect it and investigate its capabilities. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) emphasized that throughout the security incident the drone was being closely monitored and posed no direct threat. Fighter jets were launched and rushed to the area out of fear that the drone may have been armed and intended to conduct an attack, or else was conducting surveillance and gathering information in preparation for an attack. However the drone fell to the ground without a shot being fired. Meanwhile, An Arab terrorist tried to conduct a shooting attack on an IDF checkpoint in the Jordan Valley region on Friday. The terrorist was shot by IDF forces soon after he pulled out his weapon and started firing, and he was seriously wounded. The terrorist later died of his wounds. No wounds were reported among the IDF forces. An initial investigation of the incident reveals that the terrorist got out of a vehicle and opened fire at the IDF troops, although miraculously none were wounded.

A flier published by in the name of the brutal Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization was put up around eastern Jerusalem on Thursday, in what is thought to be the first such announcement in the Israeli capital. The flier threatens Christians in the area with “revenge,” and is signed by the organization “ISIS Palestine,” reports Channel 10. ISIS does not have an operational presence in Israel, but support for the group among Islamists is on the rise, with dozens of Arab citizens leaving for Syria and Iraq to fight for the jihadist organization after ISIS members took part in Hamas’s terror war against Israel last summer. An ISIS-inspired cell was nabbed in Hevron in Judea last November, while in Gaza an affiliate of the group has clashed with Hamas and repeatedly fired rockets at Israel to spark fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Hezbollah-planted land mines and mortar attacks left at least nine Nusra Front militants dead outside an east Lebanon border village Friday, a source close to Hezbollah told The Daily Star. The incident occurred on Syrian territory on the eastern outskirts of Maaraboun, which is southwest of the border enclave of Tfail, in southern Qalamoun. Media reports said militants from Al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate were attempting to carry out an attack on Hezbollah positions in Maaraboun when they passed through a minefield. The mines managed to kill and wound a number of militants. The sound of the blasts alerted nearby Hezbollah fighters of the ambush attempt. Hezbollah then shelled the area of the militants, killing and wounding several other militants.

Islamic State fighters have attacked the Syrian city of Kobane, months after being driven out in a symbolic battle that made international headlines. They detonated car bombs and launched an assault. Kurdish media say at least 50 civilians have been killed, including 20 in a nearby village. The IS attack on Kobane began with militants detonating a car bomb, followed by an assault from dozens of fighters from a number of directions. There are reports that some may have hidden themselves among returning refugees, and disguised themselves by wearing Kurdish militia uniforms. A reporter with the privately-owned Kurdish television station NRT said they infiltrated the city at dawn “and then went on a killing spree”, targeting people in their homes as they slept. Hours later two more car bombs exploded. In the nearby Kurdish village of Bakha Botan, at least 20 civilians – among them women and children – were reportedly shot dead by IS fighters. At least eight IS militants and a number of Kurdish fighters have been killed in the fighting in Kobane, activists say. One senior local official told BBC Persian that the situation in Kobane itself was now “under control” but clashes were continuing on its eastern and northern outskirts.

Syria Headline: Military Situation in Northern Syria
ISIS launched a series of spectacular counterattacks on June 24-25 in a two-pronged line of effort targeting Kurdish and regime forces in northern Syria. ISIS conducted a wave of suicide attacks in Hasaka City in northeastern Syria on June 24, detonating two SVBIEDs as well as three or four SVESTs targeting Kurdish internal security and regime-held checkpoints in a move likely intended to soften the city’s defenses. ISIS later launched an offensive against Hasaka City on June 25, detonating at least one VBIED and seizing the regime-held southwestern neighborhoods of the city. ISIS’s advance allegedly received support from tribal fighters previously aligned with the Assad regime. Simultaneously, approximately thirty to forty ISIS fighters disguised in Kurdish YPG and Free Syrian Army (FSA) rebel uniforms infiltrated the Kurdish border town of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) on June 25, detonating twoSVBIEDs at the border crossing to Turkey and clashing with YPG forces.

Syria’s official SANA news agency said “terrorists hit neighbourhoods of Daraa city with mortar rounds and gas canister bombs,” adding that there were reports of casualties. “Army units foiled attempts by terrorist groups to attack several military positions in Daraa province destroying several armoured vehicles and killing dozens of terrorists,” state television said. It made no mention of fighting inside Daraa city, parts of which are already under rebel control.

A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two civilians lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries when a bombing attack struck the Sha’ab neighborhood of northern Baghdad on Thursday, Arabic-language satellite television network al-Baghdadia reported. Security forces immediately cordoned off the site of the attack, and ambulance workers ferried the wounded to a nearby hospital. Elsewhere in the capital’s western neighborhood of Baiyaa, an improvised explosive device exploded near car showrooms, killing one person and injuring seven others. Two people were also killed and five others wounded when a bomb placed inside a garbage can went off in the industrial park of Bismayah, situated about 10 kilometers (six miles) southeast of Baghdad. Also on Thursday, a bomb detonated in the capital’s southern neighborhood of al-Mahmoudiyah, killing a child and injuring two passersby. A civilian was also gunned down during a drive-by shooting in the al-Baladiyat neighborhood of eastern Baghdad. Additionally, one person was killed and three others injured when a bomb exploded close to a fish farm in the town of Madain, some 30 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Baghdad.

Headline:Bloody Friday: ISIS Celebrates Terror Attacks In France, Tunisia, Kuwait
Headline: Tunisia attack on Sousse beach ‘kills 37’
Headline: Muslim Terrorist Beheads Man in France Attack
Headline: Kuwait Shia mosque blast death toll ‘rises to 25’
ISIS extremists celebrated terror attacks today in France, Tunisia and Kuwait, heralding the killings as “Bloody Friday” in discussions across secretive online forums and social media, a Vocativ analysis reveals. “This Friday is a holiday for the Muslims,” one ISIS supporter wrote, while many others used a hashtag praising the “lone wolves” around the world and celebrating the day as “Bloody Friday.” ISIS did not claim responsibility for all of the attacks. The worst unfolded at a luxury resort in Tunisia where an attacker blew himself up at the Hotel Riu Imperial Marhaba in the city of Sousse. Gunmen also opened fire on guests of the hotel, killing several and leaving others face down in the sand near their lounge chairs. At least 27 were killed at the resort and officials cautioned the number could rise, according to the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior. In recent months ISIS increased its activities in Tunisia and claimed responsibility for several attacks there, including the assault on the Bardo Museum last March that killed 22 people, most of them European tourists. In southeast France, two people entered a factory of a U.S.-owned gas company and detonated gas containers by ramming a car into them, leaving one dead and several wounded. Local reports say a decapitated head was found at the entry to the factory, covered in Arabic script. A suspected ISIS flag also was reportedly found at the scene. At about the same time, an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself up at a packed Shi’ite Muslim mosque in Kuwait city during Friday prayers, killing at least 15 people according to local reports. ISIS released an official claim of responsibility for the Kuwait attack, and social media users uploaded graphic images of dead bodies and victims were wounded in the attacks. As many as 2,000 people were thought to be in the mosque at the time of the explosion. The attacker in France is still unknown, and ISIS has not claimed responsibility for the attack in Tunisia. Regardless, its supporters began to celebrate the three attacks on forums and social media.

Headline: ISIS dinar exchange rate is equal to $ 139
Social networking sites published pictures of a coin attributed to the ISIS where the latter has previously announced its intention to create its own currency in November of last year in order to be free from “satanic global economic system,” as it mentioned. The pictures showed the currency, which ISIS plans to use, with a design showing “a succession on a platform of prophecy,” another image showed a picture of the map of the world. The organization announced the exchange rate of its currency, saying that” 1 Golden Dinar is equal to $ 139, and it is expected that the dinar will be officially used by June 29, 2014.

Headline: Kurds, Ankara trade accusations after Kobane massacre
Turkey on Thursday rejected as “black propaganda” claims that Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists crossed from Turkey to carry out deadly bombings and raids on the Syrian town of Kobane, AFP reports. Dozens of civilians and fighters on both sides were killed in a day of violence as ISIS launched car bomb attacks on the Turkish border crossing adjacent to Kobane and battled Kurdish fighters in the city. Turkish officials said four victims had died in Turkish hospitals while 135 injured received treatment on the Turkish side of the border. Claims circulating on the Internet suggested several cars loaded with ISIS members passed through the Mursitpinar border crossing in Turkey to make their way into Kobane. “The claim that Daesh militants passed through the Turkish border is entirely a lie and part of a black propaganda,” Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said in a message on Twitter, using an Arabic term for ISIS. The governor’s office in the border region of Sanliurfa said its information “proves” ISIS members infiltrated Kobane from Jarablus in Syria. “Turkish armed forces are monitoring our borders 24 hours as part of security measures,” it added, according to AFP. The Turkish government said video footage taken from Turkish border security units and broadcast by the state-run Anatolia news agency showed a bomb-laden car did not pass through the Turkish border crossing. Kurdish activists, however, accused Turkey on social media of assisting the IS group, with the hashtag #TerroristTurkey becoming a trending topic on Twitter. The accusations come amid growing tensions between Syrian Kurds and Turkey, the report noted.

Headline: Libya rivals back in Morocco for fresh peace talks
Libya’s warring factions arrived Thursday in Morocco for a fresh round of U.N.-brokered peace talks aimed at putting an end to months of fighting in the stricken North African state. The talks involving rival parliaments are expected to begin on Friday, as U.N. envoy Bernardino Leon struggles to bring the factions to agree steps aimed at forming a national unity government. The U.N. has tried for months to broker a compromise in Libya, which descended into lawlessness after the 2011 NATO-backed overthrow of veteran autocrat Muammar Qaddafi. The oil-rich nation has rival governments and parliaments, and jihadist groups and militants have seized on the chaos to make strategic gains. The Tripoli-based parliament was set up by the Fajr Libya (Libya Dawn) militia alliance that seized the capital last year to contest the legitimacy of the Tobruk-based internationally recognized legislature.

Headline: Russian Officials See ‘Color Revolution’ in Armenia
Demonstrators protesting against a hike in electricity prices are dancing and singing on the Armenian capital’s main avenue, maintaining pressure on the government. Hundreds of protesters gathered on the road for a fifth straight day Friday behind a barricade of large trash containers separating them from police. Others were hiding from sweltering heat under roadside trees and umbrellas. Following Monday’s unsuccessful attempt to end the protest by force, authorities have taken a wait-and-see approach and police didn’t interfere with the protest. There was no end in sight, however, to the worst unrest the ex-Soviet nation has seen in years as the government rejected the protesters’ demand to annul the price hike. The country’s power grid is controlled by a Russian electricity giant, and Moscow watched the protest with concern.

Headline: Somalia attack: Al-Shabab ‘kills 30’ at AU military base
At least 30 people have been killed after gunmen attacked an African Union military base in southern Somalia, witnesses say. A suicide car bomber drove into the main gates of the base in Leego, along the main road connecting the capital, Mogadishu and the city of Baidoa. The militant Islamist group al-Shabab says its fighters have taken control of the base but this is not confirmed. Al-Shabab is battling Somalia’s government for control of the country. The base is manned by Burundian soldiers from the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom), which has more than 20,000 troops in the country. Amisom confirmed on its Twitter account that an attack was ongoing, but has not given any details on casualties. Leego residents have seen militants burning vehicles, carrying off weapons and removing the bodies of their fighters killed in the attack, reports the BBC’s Mohamed Moalimu from Mogadishu.

Headline: Gunmen kill Houthi chief in Sanaa
Shelling by Yemen’s Houthi militia killed four soldiers from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates stationed on Yemen’s border with the kingdom, Saudi state media reported on Thursday. The Houthis have stepped up attacks on Saudi border posts in recent weeks, despite three months of bombardment by a Saudi-led coalition intent on restoring Yemen’s government in exile. Two soldiers from the Royal Saudi Land Forces, one from the kingdom’s Border Guards, and a UAE officer were killed on Wednesday in three incidents along the border, a mostly mountainous area. The Houthis and their allies in Yemen’s army have managed to hold most of the populated western part of the country against armed groups in Aden, Taiz, Dhalea and Marib backed by coalition air strikes. But a spate of bombings in the Houthi-controlled capital continued on Thursday, as a remote controlled bomb detonated outside the state news agency according to residents, killing a Houthi fighter and wounding two others.

Headline: Greece must agree to bailout terms Saturday to get funds
Eurozone finance ministers will meet for the fifth time in ten days on Saturday after the latest talks aimed at sealing a Greek debt deal were hastily aborted on Thursday (25 June). It was the second false start in as many days, despite a morning of feverish negotiations between Greece and its creditors in the European Commission’s Berlaymont headquarters. “The institutions informed us that on a number of issues there is still a wide gap with the Greek authorities,” Dutch finance minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who chairs the Eurogroup, told reporters. Greece’s creditors – the European Commission, ECB and the International Monetary Fund – will now be tasked with assessing the latest offer from Alexis Tsipras’ government which had been tabled just moments before the start of the meeting. “In the meantime, the door is still open for the Greek authorities to accept the proposals tabled by the institutions,” he added.

Headline: Supreme Court rules in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide
In a landmark opinion, a divided Supreme Court ruled Friday that states cannot ban same-sex marriage, establishing a new civil right and handing gay rights advocates a victory that until very recently would have seemed unthinkable. In a 5-4 ruling, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority with the four liberal justices. Each of the four conservative justices wrote their own dissent. Nearly 46 years to the day after a riot at New York’s Stonewall Inn ushered in the modern gay rights movement, the decision could settle one of the major civil rights fights of this era. The language of Kennedy’s opinion spoke eloquently of the most fundamental values of family, love and liberty. “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family,” Kennedy wrote. “In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than they once were.” “Their hope,” Kennedy wrote, “is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.” Kennedy has written the opinion in significant gay rights cases and when he uttered the key sentence that same-sex couples should be able to exercise the right to marry in all states, people in the Court’s public gallery broke into smiles and some wiped tears from their eyes.

Headline: California wildfires force residents from homes in two towns
Residents of two California towns were under mandatory evacuation orders on Thursday as a burgeoning wildfire swept through drought-parched mountains, officials said. The fire in the mountains of San Bernardino County east of Los Angeles was among scores of wildfires raging along the U.S. West Coast, from Alaska through California, in areas hit by drought and suffering record-low snowpack. In Idaho, officials issued a health advisory tied to extreme heat, as weather forecasters predicted record-breaking highs. The northern end of the Sacramento Valley in California was also unusually hot with 111 Fahrenheit (43.9 Celsius) reported in Redding. In Southern California, firefighters were losing ground to the long-burning San Bernardino County blaze. It swelled to 23,199 acres (9,388 hectares) in the face of gusting winds, according to fire-tracking website InciWeb, which pulls information from multiple agencies. The blaze, now nine days old, prompted evacuation orders late on Wednesday for the towns of Burns Canyon and Rimrock and a voluntary evacuation for Pioneertown as containment dropped to 21 percent. The fire had been about one-third contained the day before. In Los Angeles County, roughly 1,000 residents in Santa Clarita were ordered from their homes late on Wednesday as a hard-charging fire spread across some 350 acres (140 hectares) in a matter of hours, the county fire department said. Those evacuation orders were lifted on Wednesday night and the fire was about 60 percent contained by Thursday morning, the department said. In southern Oregon, firefighters had contained 60 percent of a 5,341-acre (2,161-hectare) fire in Cave Junction that has closed forest lands but not damaged property. Another 21 fires in Alaska ignited overnight, making a total of nearly 300 active blazes, according to the state’s Division of Forestry.

Headline: Gigantic Black Hole Wakes Up After 26-Year Sleep
A supermassive black hole that was dormant for 26 years has once again begun devouring material from other the star in its binary system, according to the European Space Agency (ESA). V404 Cygni, a system in the Milky Way galaxy comprised of a black hole and a star orbiting each other, has again started emitting X-rays and gamma rays after a 26-year sleep, ESA reported. Erik Kuulkers, a project scientist at ESA, explained that “the behavior of this source is extraordinary at the moment, with repeated bright flashes of light on time scales shorter than an hour, something rarely seen in other black hole systems.” “In these moments, it becomes the brightest object in the X-ray sky — up to fifty times brighter than the Crab Nebula, normally one of the brightest sources in the high-energy sky,” he said. The V404 Cygni system is located almost 8,000 light years away in the Cygnus (Swan) constellation of the Milky Way. The black hole’s sudden awakening activity was first spotted by the Burst Alert Telescope on board NASA’s Swift satellite on June 15. The gamma ray burst from the black hole was automatically detected by Swift’s X-ray optics, something that was also tracked by MAXI (Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image), a sensor on the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module of the International Space Station.

Headline: Indonesian volcano spews towering gas cloud
Indonesia’s Mount Sinabung spewed searing ash and gas 4 kilometres into the sky Thursday, officials said, as the number of people displaced by the latest round of eruptions exceeded 10,000. “There were two strong eruptions today and the ash travelled far to the east,” said Subur Tambun, chief of the disaster management agency in Karo district in North Sumatra province, where the volcano is located. The volcano erupted 11 times on Wednesday, sending ash to the provincial capital Medan. There have been no fatalities since the volcano began its latest period of activity early this month, he said. Indonesian President Joko Widodo this week arranged 6 billion rupiah (US$450,000, RM1.6 million ) to help local authorities cope with the displaced. The National Disaster Management Agency said more than 10,000 had fled their homes and more than 6,000 of them have to be relocated for good because they live too close to the volcano. The relocation is estimated to cost around 600 billion rupiah, said agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho.

Headline: PA to Use UN Report in Suing Israel at ICC for ‘War Crimes’
Headline: Washington calls on UN to ignore ‘biased’ Gaza war report
The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Tuesday warmly welcomed the new UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) report, which accuses Israel of “war crimes” in last summer’s war against Hamas, a day after it was released. Ahead of its plan to sue Israel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over “war crimes,” the PA said it views the UN report as an important weapon in the legal battle it is waging against the Jewish state. Ibrahim Khraishi, the representative of “Palestine” at the UNHRC, said that the PA intends to submit to the council a proposal to adopt the new report. Khraishi said in an interview that the proposal will be submitted after the new UN report is officially presented at the UNHRC next Monday in a meeting open to all member states. The goal of the PA is to obtain an official approval of the report by the UNHRC, said Khraishi, so as to use it in suing Israel on the international stage. He emphasized that UNHRC adoption of the report is of the highest importance for it will allow the PA to use it at the ICC against Israel.

Headline: UN report denies Israel’s right of self-defense, advocates arrest of Israelis instead
Arrest Benjamin Netanyahu and any other “suspected” Israeli war criminals wherever and whenever you can get your hands on them. That is the shocking bottom line of a scandalous report released today from the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva. The report emanates from a board of inquiry the Council created in the midst of the 2014 Gaza war. In legalese, the call to arrest Israelis either for trial before the International Criminal Court (ICC), or before any court in any country that the U.N. labels “fair,” reads like this: The board “calls upon the international community … to support actively the work of the International Criminal Court in relation to the Occupied Palestinian Territory; to exercise universal jurisdiction to try international crimes in national courts; and to comply with extradition requests pertaining to suspects of such crimes to countries where they would face a fair trial.” To be fair, the U.N. report says this could apply to both parties. In other words, the democratic state of Israel, with a moral and legal obligation to defend its citizens, and the Palestinian attackers bent on genocide are moral equals. Throughout the 183-page tome, the U.N. council “experts” play the old “cycle of violence” trick, otherwise known as “it all started when you hit me back.”

Headline: Druze ‘Lynching’ on IDF Ambulance Tipped Off by Soldier?
Headline: Several Druze arrested following deadly attack on ambulance
In the last day the IDF has been investigating the Israeli Druze attack on an IDF ambulance Monday night, and dramatic new revelations indicate a possible betrayal from within the army. In the incident Druze residents of the Golan Heights murdered a Syrian national who was being brought for treatment, and likewise critically wounded another Syrian in addition to lightly wounding the two soldiers in the ambulance. The Hebrew-language Channel 2 reports that the investigation has raised suspicions that the Druze youths received information about the Syrian wounded from an IDF soldier. It was also found that the soldiers tried to physically defend the Syrian wounded with their bodies while trying to calm the Druze assailants. Israeli Druze have accused Israel of providing medical treatment to jihadist rebels, who have carried out massacres against Druze in Syria. Both Israel and the IDF have strenuously denied providing medical care to terrorists. Several Druze communities in the Golan Heights from which the attack emanated are loyal to the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, further intensifying their animosity to wounded Syrian rebels. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded to the incident on Tuesday, saying, “we will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands. We will not let anyone interfere with IDF soldiers in their mission. We’ll find the perpetrators of the lynching and we will bring them to justice. We are a lawful state, not part of the anarchy around us.” Druze leaders widely condemned the attack overnight Monday as “serious and unnecessary,” even as Druze residents of the Golan town of Majdal Shams celebrated it.

Headline: Israel Blocks Gazans From Temple Mount After Rocket Attack
After the rocket attack from Gaza on Tuesday night, Israel on Wednesday decided to cancel the Friday entry permits for 500 Gazans to Jerusalem that had been given as part of unprecedented “gestures” for the Muslim fast month of Ramadan. A spokeswoman for COGAT, the defense ministry unit which coordinates with Gaza, told AFP the move to cancel the concessions applied to this week only, and was “because of the rocket” which hit southern Israel on Tuesday night. The rocket, launched just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, struck open field in the Ashkelon region to the north of Gaza, fortunately causing no damage or wounds. In response the IDF conducted airstrikes in Gaza, taking out the very rocket launcher that was responsible for the attack. In the lead up to Ramadan which began last Thursday, Israel for the first time allowed direct buses for Arab residents of Judea and Samaria in to the Temple Mount – the holiest site in Judaism – where between 150,000 to 200,000 Muslim Arabs are expected to visit each Friday of the month.

Headline: France, Saudi Arabia inch closer to civil nuclear deal
France and Saudi Arabia agreed on Wednesday to press ahead with feasibility studies to build two flagship Areva-designed EPR nuclear reactors as the two allies firm up business ties amid tensions across the region. The countries set up a joint committee in May to finalize some 20 projects across sectors ranging from defense to transport infrastructure and civil aviation over the coming months worth billions of euros. “We are about to sign deals worth $12 billion,” French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told a news conference ahead of a ceremony between President Francois Hollande and Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. France has been able to nurture new links with the Gulf Arab region due to its tough stance on Iran, similar positions on conflicts across the Middle East and in the face of what some Gulf countries perceive as disengagement on the part of traditional ally the United States.

Syria Headline: Syrian Kurds claim capture of key northern base from ISIS
A Kurdish forces (YPG) spokesman Tuesday reported that they had gained complete control of the Liwa (Brigade 93) base, deep inside Islamic State territory on the outskirts of Ain Issa. This town is 50 km north of ISIS’s Syrian capital of Raqqa. “In the last few moments, Ain Issa has come under our full control, along with dozens of villages in the surrounding area,” YPG spokesman Redur Khalil told AFP. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor, said Daesh forces had withdrawn from the town and YPG and rebel forces were now sweeping it to clear mines laid by the jihadists. Ain Issa’s fall comes after Daesh ceded control of the Brigade 93 base on Monday night and the border town of Tal Abyad more than a week ago.

Two suicide bombers from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group have killed 10 Syrian soldiers in the northeastern city of Hasakeh, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday. Separately, at least 13 civilians were killed in a car bomb attack against a mosque in a village near the capital Damascus, the monitor said. All three incidents occurred Tuesday night. “Ten soldiers were killed and 16 others injured in two suicide attacks carried out by ISIS against army positions in Hasakeh,” the Britain-based Observatory said. “The first attack was carried out by three jihadists against a military barracks in the center of town, while the second was carried out by one suicide bomber against a checkpoint near a children’s hospital.” A third suicide bomber hit a post manned by the Kurdish security forces in the city, causing serious damage to buildings in the area but no deaths.

Iraq Headline: IS suicide bombing kills 14 at Sunni tribal meeting in Iraq
A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb at a gathering of Iraqi Sunni tribal leaders, killing 14 people in an attack claimed Wednesday by the Islamic State group, police said. “Fourteen people were killed and at least 24 wounded,” a police captain said of the Tuesday night bombing in the Baladruz area of Diyala province, north of Baghdad. A medical source at the Baladruz hospital confirmed the toll. The bomber struck “a gathering of notables and figures, most of them from the al-Nida tribe,” the officer said. An army colonel said that the Al-Nida – a major Sunni tribe in Diyala province – had supported the government against Islamic State (IS) group. IS claimed the suicide bombing in an online statement Wednesday, saying a Tajik man carried out the attack.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) has begun minting its own “Islamic dinar” coins, Syrian activists claimed on Tuesday night. Pictures posted on social media showed a series of gold sovereigns bearing Isil inscriptions, and with a reported value of one gold dinar being with $139 (£89). An anti-Isil activist by the name of Abu Ibrahim Raqqawi, who lives in the Isil controlled city of Raqqa in Syria, posted photographs of the coins on his Twitter account, saying they were due to come into circulation soon. Pictures were also posted on pro-Isil social media accounts. Isil announced last November that it would start producing their own currency in areas under its control, in an effort to “emancipate itself from the satanic global economic system”. The currency, based on the original dinar coins used during the Caliphate of Uthman in 634 CE, was set to include seven minted coins: two gold, three silver and two copper. Designs due to be embossed on the gold coins included a symbol of seven wheat stalks – a Quranic reference – and a world map. The prototype design had also shown that the coins would carry an Arabic message on the lines of “The Islamic State – A caliphate based on the doctrine of the Prophet”.

Headline: Turkey confirms secret talks with Israel
Turkey Wednesday said it was holding talks with Israel over a deal to reconcile the two former allies following a deadly Israeli commando raid on a Turkish aid vessel bound for Gaza. “It’s quite normal for the two countries to talk for the normalization of the ties. How can reconciliation be achieved without holding any meetings?” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters in Ankara. Cavusoglu’s comments came a day after reports that Israeli and Turkish officials had held secret talks in Rome Monday in a bid to restore relations between the two countries. Cavusoglu confirmed such a contact had been made and said: “These meetings are not new. Expert-level talks have been held between the two countries for a while.” The talks come two weeks after the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), co-funded by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is known for his angry outbursts at the Jewish state, lost its majority in parliament.

Headline: New ally? Administration confirms Iranian militias are sharing Iraqi base with U.S. forces
Reports that American forces and Iranian militias, at least one of which is tied to a terror attack on U.S. troops, are sharing a base in Iraq have baffled and infuriated U.S. officials. “Even if these guys don’t attack us … Iran is ushering in a new Hizbullah era in Iraq, and we will have aided and abetted it,” a senior U.S. official said. Officials are hesitant to buy Iran’s pledge that the Shi’ite militias at the base would not interfere with American operations. “There’s no real command and control from the central government,” the U.S. official said. Two Obama administration officials on June 22 confirmed that the Taqqadum military base in Iraq’s Anbar province that is being used to train Iraqi forces to fight Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) is also being occupied by Iranian Shi’ite militia groups that were brought in by the Iraqi government. One of those groups at the base, the League of the Righteous, was responsible for a roadside execution of five U.S. soldiers in 2007. “It’s an insult to the families of the American soldiers that were wounded and killed in battles in which the Shia militias were the enemy,” Sen. John McCain told Bloomberg. “Now, providing arms to them and supporting them, it’s very hard for those families to understand.” U.S. officials acknowledged that, in the fight against ISIL in Iraq, cooperation with known terror groups is largely unavoidable but they also admit it could wind up hurting American interests in the Middle East.

Headline: Iran nuclear talks: Khamenei rejects key US demands
Headline: US, West ready to offer nuclear equipment to Iran if it limits possible atomic weapons programs
Iran’s supreme leader has hardened his stance on the nuclear negotiations with world powers, with the deadline for a comprehensive agreement only days away. In a speech on Tuesday night, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei insisted Iran would only dismantle its nuclear infrastructure if economic sanctions were lifted first. He also ruled out a freeze on research and development for 10 years, as well as inspections of military sites. The demands appear to undercut a framework deal announced in April. They could also limit the ability of Iran’s negotiating team to make key concessions as the self-imposed 30 June deadline approaches. As supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei has final say on all state matters.

Headline: ‘Unprecedented’ Surge Of Militants Plagues Afghanistan, UN Told
Afghanistan’s intelligence service on Wednesday said a Pakistani intelligence officer helped the Taliban carry out an attack on the parliament in Kabul earlier this week. Afghan intelligence services spokesman Hassib Sediqqi said the officer in Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence helped the Haqqani network carry out the attack outside parliament, which killed two people and wounded more than 30 as lawmakers were meeting inside. He identified the officer as Bilal, without providing his full name. Sediqqi says the suicide car bomb used in Monday’s attack was manufactured in Peshawar, Pakistan, just across the border. He says Afghan authorities were made aware of the attack on June 10 and had deployed extra security. Pakistani officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

At least 17 Libyan army soldiers belonging to former General Khalifa Haftar’s brigades were killed while 50 others were injured when violent clashes broke out between Haftar’s forces and the Shura Council forces, near Benghazi on Monday night. Local sources confirmed that only one fighter among the Council’s forces was killed during the clashes which continued for several hours into the night, reported Aljazeera. The clashes, concentrated in Sabri and Groth north and west of Benghazi, broke out after council forces advanced into areas controlled by Haftar, while his forces withdrew from their positions leaving behind weapons, ammunition and military vehicles. At the same time, Libya’s self-declared government in control of the capital Tripoli has launched airstrikes on Islamic State fighters in the city of Sirte, officials and witnesses said yesterday. Suleiman al-Tariki, a security source in Sirte, told the Anadolu Agency that the Tripoli-based government’s air forces’ strikes killed more than a dozen IS fighters east of Benghazi. Officials said the late on Sunday night that attacks were launched on a building where fighters had gathered. Against a backdrop of increasing chaos, forces from Libya’s Tobruk-based government warned European countries that any vessels entering Libyan waters without permission would be targeted by airstrikes. The warning came after European Union foreign ministers agreed on Monday to launch a naval operation to combat people smugglers who have brought thousands of migrants on perilous journeys to Europe from Libya.

Headline: Former Tunisia president to join Gaza flotilla
A former Tunisian president will join the flotilla currently en route to the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip and which Israel charged has “no other purpose than breaking the boycott” imposed by Israel on the coastal enclave. The first ship of the so-called Freedom Flotilla III set sail last week with the stated aim to deliver medical equipment and solar cell panels for use in Gaza. There are two additional vessels in the flotilla. Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement it was aware the former leader joined the pro-Palestinian activists and that it is preparing to stop the flotilla once it reaches Gaza territorial waters, which it controls. Marzouki, a French-trained doctor and veteran rights activist, was Tunisia’s head of state between 2011 and 204. He came to power almost a year after the self-immolation of a Tunisian street vendor sparked a protest movement that precipitated the ouster in 2011 of longtime strongman Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. The movement spread across much of the Arab world, sweeping away long-time dictators in Egypt and Libya.

Headline: 6,000 rally in Armenian capital after police crackdown
Nearly 6,000 demonstrators rallied in the Armenian capital Tuesday after riot police used water cannon to break up an earlier protest against electricity price hikes. Waving national flags and chanting “Shame!” and “No to robbery!” angry protesters flooded Yerevan’s central Freedom Square Tuesday evening, an AFP journalist reported from the scene. They also demanded the release of nearly 240 people that were detained at dawn when police dispersed a protest near the presidential palace. “We will not surrender,” young protester Artak Harutyunyan told AFP. “We will continue our peaceful struggle until the government fulfills our demands.” Public anger has mounted over the government’s decision to hike power prices by over 16 percent from August 1 in the ex-Soviet country of 3.2 million, already badly hit by the economic crisis in Russia.

Headline: Car bomb aimed at UAE officials kills three Somali soldiers in Mogadishu
A car bomb targeting a convoy of military instructors from the United Arab Emirates exploded in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Wednesday, killing at least three Somalis but injuring no UAE citizens, security officials said. The officials said the UAE ambassador was also traveling in the convoy, which was attacked in Mogadishu’s Hodan District. He was unhurt. Seven other people were wounded, police said. The Islamist militant group al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack and said it had “inflicted casualties”. Hussein Afrah, a Somali military officer, said the car bomb targeted the UAE trainers, who were in a bullet-proof car. Those killed were Somali soldiers, he said. “The incident took place near the military hospital where UAE trains Somali military. Three Somali military … died and several other civilians who were passing by were injured,” Afrah told Reuters. A wounded soldier who preferred to be named only as Ahmed said the UAE ambassador to Somalia was also in the convoy and was unharmed. “The UAE ambassador was in a bullet-proof car ahead of us and the car bomb missed its target,” he told Reuters.

Headline: 40 Killed in Suspected Boko Haram Attacks in Nigeria
About 40 people have been killed by suspected Boko Haram militants who torched houses and shot people as they fled in two villages in northeast Nigeria’s Borno state, witnesses told Reuters on Wednesday. The attackers, who arrived on motorcycles and vehicles mounted with guns, shot residents and looted shops in the villages of Debiro Biu and Debiro Hawul late on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, the witnesses said. Local police confirmed the attacks took place but declined to comment further. Details of the attack did not emerge for several hours due to poor telecommunications networks in the remote villages in northeast Nigeria, a region in which Boko Haram has killed thousands in a six-year bid to set up an Islamic state. “They were shooting sporadically and then they started looting shops and setting places ablaze,” said witness Hussaini Adamu, who fled with other villagers to hide in bushes after fleeing Debiro Biu. More than 100 people have been killed in northeast Nigeria in the past few weeks in a spate of bombings, mostly in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

Headline: Obama trade agenda clears key Senate test vote
President Obama’s trade agenda narrowly survived a key Senate test vote on Tuesday, moving the legislation toward likely passage just days after congressional leaders helped rescue it from a Democrat-led rebellion. The Senate voted, 60-37, to cut off debate and move toward a final vote. The bill needed 60 votes to advance. The result is a big win for the White House and Republican congressional leaders who allied with the president on the package — an issue that has created unusual alliances and stirred deep tensions within the Democratic caucus. The bill itself would allow Obama to obtain “fast track” authority on trade deals, which would let him negotiate deals that Congress can ratify or reject, but not change. He wants that power to move the so-called Trans-Pacific Partnership with Japan, Mexico, Canada and several other countries. Tuesday’s result comes after House GOP leaders employed some legislative gymnastics to advance a new version of the bill last week, after a prior attempt had failed. Republican leaders — who support Obama on trade while most of his fellow Democrats oppose him — restructured the package and then passed the key elements, with only 28 House Democrats.

Headline: Liberia Watches Nervously as Ebola Spreads Near Border
Sierra Leone has recorded two new cases of Ebola in Freetown in the past few days, disproving the assumption that the capital city had already defeated the deadly virus, officials said on Monday. The worst known Ebola epidemic in history has killed more than 11,000 people in West Africa, about a third of them in Sierra Leone. Liberia became Ebola-free in May, but its neighbours Sierra Leone and Guinea are still struggling to get to zero cases despite hundreds of millions of dollars in aid. “This is worrisome because we had already closed all Ebola quarantine structures in Freetown since we had gone for weeks without a case,” said Sidi Yahya Tunis, a spokesman for the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC). The spokesman said there were concerns about further infection since the two cases were reported in Magazine, a densely populated slum lacking adequate hygiene facilities.

Headline: CDC tests for plague in Colorado after teen’s death
he Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to determine how prevalent the plague is in a rural area of northern Colorado where a 16-year-old boy died of the disease. Taylor Gaes of Livermore died June 8, but the cause was only made public late Friday when health officials, at the urging of the boy’s parents, put out a warning to make sure others who may have visited his family’s rural home northwest of Fort Collins hadn’t been sickened by fleas that could have infected him. Those visitors are now considered safe because the incubation period for the disease passed on Monday. Gaes likely was infected with a rare form of the disease, septicemic plague, by fleas that put the bacteria directly into his blood stream, making it difficult to spot in time to stop its spread. Larimer County and CDC officials said Tuesday they likely won’t ever know how Taylor was infected but were canvassing the area to try to gauge the plague’s presence.

Headline: US military moving tanks, other equipment to allied nations near Russian border
Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Tuesday that the U.S. will deploy heavy weaponry — including about 250 tanks, armored vehicles and other equipment — across six European nations including those along the Russian border. The move is meant to help reassure NATO allies facing an array of threats from Russia and terrorist groups. It is only the latest message being telegraphed to an increasingly assertive Vladimir Putin, in the wake of his country’s intervention in eastern Ukraine. The equipment is set to be stationed in the Baltic states — Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania — as well as Bulgaria, Poland and Romania. Each set of equipment would be enough to equip a military company or battalion, and would go on at least a temporary basis to those six nations. Carter said the equipment could be moved around the region for training and military exercises, and would include Bradley fighting vehicles and self-propelled howitzer artillery guns. “We intend to move those equipment sets around as exercises move around,” Carter told a news conference. “They’re not static. Their purpose is to enable richer training and more mobility to forces in Europe.” He said the U.S. presence will be “persistent” but “agile.”

Headline: Earth’s weakening ‘magnetic shield’ could see life WIPED OUT as skin cancer levels soar
Our planet’s magnetosphere, which prevents solar winds and radiation from reaching Earth, is currently DISAPPEARING, affecting the WEST first according to researchers. While we are in the grip of a surge in solar storms – when radiation blast from the sun across near space – scientists have discovered our magnetic field and only defence against them is thinning. The news comes as a level G4 solar blast from the Sun yesterday morning threatened to interfere with satellite and GPS communications systems, as we reported. This natural shield reaches thousands of miles into space and also has an affect on weather patterns and global communication systems. But yesterday’s blast and more that are prediced are not expected to reach us due to our planet’s magnetic field. A European Space Agency mission, now at the end of the first of its four-year programme, has concluded the Earth’s magnetosphere is losing strength. A spokesman for the agency said: “Measurements made over the past six months confirm the general trend of the field’s weakening, with the most dramatic declines over the Western Hemisphere. “This will provide new insight into many natural processes, from those occurring deep inside our planet to space weather triggered by solar activity. In turn, this information will yield a better understanding of why the magnetic field is weakening.” Researchers have warned if it weakens further or were completely eroded away, radiation levels reaching our planet’s surface would double – leading to a huge spike in deaths from skin cancer. ***SEE ALSO SIGNS IN HEAVEN BELOW

Headline: Death toll from Pakistan heatwave exceeds 700
Lake Mead sunk to a record low Tuesday night by falling below the point that would trigger a water-supply shortage if the reservoir doesn’t recover soon. Water managers expect the lake’s elevation level to rebound enough to ward off a 2016 shortage thanks to a wetter-than-expected spring. But in the long run, as a Bureau of Reclamation spokeswoman said, “We still need a lot more water.” The reservoir stores water for parts of Arizona, other Western states and Mexico — all of which have endured a 15-year drought with no end in sight. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation would announce a 2016 shortage this August if it projects Lake Mead won’t rise above 1,075 feet by January. Assessments are updated in the middle of every month. This month’s report forecasts an improved outlook. But Tuesday’s record low — registering 1,074.99 feet — signals that Colorado River water users consume more than the river provides, said Drew Beckwith, water policy manager with the Western Resource Advocates, a non-profit environmental law and policy organization.

Ubinas volcano exploded this morning, spreading ashes over the Ubinas valley, reports El Comercio. The explosion occurred at 8:50 a.m. this morning and spread ashes 15 kilometers wide around the volcano. The ashes primarily affected those in southeasterly direction at Ubinas Valley villages. The Volcanological Observatory Metallurgical Mining Geological Institute (Ingemmet) reported the locals of Ubinas, Tonohaya, Anascapa and Sacohay were the most affected. Ingemmet recommends that the valley’s citizens take precautions to protect against the layer of ash that could harm livestock and water sources. Locals should wear masks and glasses. The volcano recorded numerous explosions earlier this month and for the last few months in high frequency. In late April Ubinas and Matalaque declared state of emergency for the high level of activity registered by the volcano.

Headline: Geomagnetic Storm Slams Earth Causing Radio Signal Blackouts and Possible Auroras
Headline: GEOMAGNETIC STORM WARNING:
A geomagnetic storm hit Earth Monday as energy from a series of solar explosions reached Earth’s magnetic field — and space weather forecasters say it could be a multi-day event. NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) said the magnetic storm, which is forecast to hit a “severe” G4 level, slammed into Earth a little before 3 p.m. EDT Monday. The solar activity is the result of the sun releasing a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which NASA describes as “huge explosions of magnetic field and plasma from the Sun’s corona.” NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded a CME June 18, a second on June 19, and then a third on June 21. Energy from the third CME traveled swiftly enough to join the previous two. Spaceweather.com reports there was a “moderately strong blackout of shortwave and low-frequency radio signals over North America,” and that the Earth’s poles were experiencing a deeper blackout. A blackout map from NOAA shows the reach of the blackouts. Meanwhile, NOAA forecasters estimate a 80% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on June 24th when another CME is expected to hit Earth’s magnetic field. The intensity of the storm is hard to predict. It could range from mild to severe.

Every since I became a Christian one of the things I have asked of Jesus Christ was that if I were to ever say or teach anything that was not correct that you would step in and show me what wrong I have commented so that I may always be right with Christ. A real follower of Christ will always seek to teach all things in accordance with the word of God. I take what Jesus told Paul to heart in Galatians 1:10 which says, “10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
For some time now I have been continually bugged by the doctrine of the rapture of the Church. Jesus just would not let up on me until I did what I read about for the Bereans who checked the word daily as you can read about in the book of Acts 17:11 I quote, ” These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Since I became a Christian every Pastor that I have ever sat under taught that the rapture of the Church would be before the tribulation. I can honestly say for years I did not feel the need to even change my views on this doctrine because I really felt that the way I was taught was the way it is to be believed.
Two weeks ago I prayed to Christ a prayer because I just had this feeling in my spirit that I had been teaching something that needed to be changed. So I did what I normally do I asked Jesus to show me what was wrong! After speaking to Christ about this He began to speak to me about this pre-trib rapture doctrine.
I came to find out that if a person were to put aside all the teachings that he or she had gotten from some one and, went solely by what Jesus says via His word in the Bible than truth would come into focus. Little did I know that what I saw from such a study would rock my world. I ask you this question. What if you were taught something by your pastor that you came to find out was a false doctrine. Would you be man enough to hold to what Paul wrote us in Galatians 1:10 which says,“10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” ? Life is very short and if you truly want to make an impact for Christ you will follow Galatians 1:10 to the letter. I want to thank Jesus for doing what I asked, to give me correction though my own son Adam DiMora. I came to learn that my son Adam was also going though the same thing I was with the pre-trib doctrine. I was going to make an in depth video on this issue but again the Lord me a video that sums it up best. I will say this, this video did not cover the issue of who it is that is withholding the Antichrist back before the Antichrist is revealed. If you do a in depth study of who has been holding the force of Satan back you will discover it has been Michael the archangel. I will cover this issue below as well.
For years I have been warning that Christians were not ready for what is coming on this Earth. After coming to see what Jesus has given me on this topic from His word it is much worse than I ever realized. I welcome your comments after you watch this long video.

Today someone emailed me to tell me that Michael archangel cannot be the one holding back the Antichrist from being revealed. He cites Jude 9 and says that Michael wasn’t even strong enough to handle getting Moses body. Which by itself may appear to be true but it is not. Let me explain.
In the Book of Jude, we read that Satan and the Archangel Michael were having a dispute, and the text says that Michael dared not rail against Satan:
But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” (Jude 9)
Michael deferred to Satan; so apparently, [before his fall] Lucifer was higher than Michael. Lucifer never had more inherent authority than the other highest created angels; however, initially God granted him administrative authority over all the angels: You were the anointed cherub who covers. (Ezekiel 28:14)
Who covers tells us that Lucifer was the ruler over all of the innumerable angels. It seems that he had the top position in the governance and control among the angels in God’s service on behalf of the entire created realm until he fell [and became Satan]:How you have fallen from heaven O star of the morning, son of the dawn! (Isaiah 14:12)
Today, Satan has remarkable forces (the one third of the angels who defected), but he is not more powerful than the other Archangels are — including Michael. That is important to say because if Satan has more inherent power than the others do then he would be stronger than they are, and he is NOT. Michael Michael is the only Archangel who is named and identified as Archangel in the Bible. In 1 Thessalonians 4, we read:…with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God… (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
Did not God promise in Daniel 12:4 that in the last days knowledge would increase? I do believe this is part of this last day knowledge. For many Pastors they will not change course in the matter of this doctrine but I like Paul want to preach what Jesus has given me from His word!

I take what Jesus told Paul to heart in Galatians 1:10 which says, “10 For do I now persuade men, orGod? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”
Would you be man enough to hold to what Paul wrote us in Galatians 1:10 which says, “10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” ?
For years I have been warning that Christians were not ready for what is coming on this Earth. After coming to see what Jesus has given me on this topic from His word it is much worse than I ever realized. I welcome your comments after you watch this long video.
Did not God promise in Daniel 12:4 that in the last days knowledge would increase? I do believe this is part of this last day knowledge. For many Pastors they will not change course in the matter of this doctrine but I like Paul want to preach what Jesus has given me from His word!

People are writing me concerning the mid-trib. I am posting my answers in order to help people see why I am holding to the mid-trib view. j
You can not just dismiss one of the most important bible verses concerning the exact timing of the rapture. Jesus told Paul us in 2 Thess 2:3 as you will see in the attachment I have sent you that two things that have to take place before the gathering of the saints. The first thing is a falling away first and notice what is second, the antichrist has to be revealed first. Now take a look in the Revelation when that happens and you will notice that it happens right after the 7th seal. This is right in the middle of the tribulation if God’s word is correct and we know that it is then the Christians will find themselves living during the 7 seals which is the tribulation being poured out by Satan on the believers. You can not get around this verse. Show me from the Bible where the antichrist does not have to be revealed first . What I am finding out from those who do not like the mid-trib view is that they have no answer to Thess 2:3 and the reason why they can not answer this is because they simply do not like the fact of where this event is seen which is right after the 7 seals, or to be exact in the middle of the tribulation.
I wanted to tell you that I agree with you that the pastor in the video I put up about the rapture is a hateful person in many ways and, I do not agree or accept the way he teaches on many issues. Not sure if you noticed but I removed his video because he is not a loving pastor but, the verses he used from the Bible to show the rapture were correct. Please stay with me on this and you will see why. Just about every person I talk to or who writes me quotes the exact same bible verse you sent to me to try and prove there is a pre-trib rapture. However, It is also very common for these same people to leave out 2 Thess 2:3 which is the scripture which gives us the very time of the rapture. I went to rapture ready since you gave me their link and once again I found the same thing to be true. Rapture ready used the exact same bible verses to try and prove pre-trib. If you go back to the link you sent me you will also notice Rapture Ready did not, I repeat, did not post 2 Thess. 2:3. Ask yourself why? Because what Paul writes us about takes place right in the middle of the tribulation when the Antichrist is revealed! Rapture ready can not get around this scripture and that is why they did not post it. I ask you this question Lori, do you believe Rapture ready or what Jesus told Paul?
Let me now address the 3 verses you sent me, first Rev. 3:10. Revelation 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
Did you notice Jesus said what this Church kept my command to endure patiently? Endure what? Endure the tribulation that Satan would be pouring out on the last days Church as seen from the 7 seals. The 7 seals are tribulation coming from Satan not God. Now also take notice our Lord tells us He will keep us from the very hour! I want you to notice what Christ first tells you in Matthew 24: 29. He says IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DISTRESS OF THOSE DAYS. What days is He talking about? Again this is the tribulation from Satan not from Christ. The wrath God talks about begins after the seals and, that is the time Christ is showing us He will keep us from. This becomes clear when you read verses 29-31 below. Please read them than I will continue.
Matthew 24:29-31 “Immediately after the distress of those days“‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky,and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[a] 30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[b] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[c]31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
Look at verse 31. and ask this question. When are the angels coming with this trumpet call? Immediately after the signs Jesus gave us in verse 29 which are: Immediately after the distress of those days“‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky,and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ Lori, this happen in the middle of the tribulation and as soon as this happens Jesus calls His Church. At this point the falling away has taken and the Antichrist is revealed and now the wrath of God begins and the Church at the very beginning of the Lord’s wrath is taken out to be with Christ. When Jesus comes back He will come back at the time when their is no light as you can see from verse 29. Remember what Jesus said how He would return? Look at Matthew 24:27 “For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
Picture what Jesus is showing us in these verses. In the middle of the tribulation everything will go dark and out of no where Jesus comes back as lightning. While the entire Earth is in darkness everything suddenly lights up and everyone see Him come back for His Church. Once again this is in the middle of the 7 year tribulation. When you put these scriptures together everything lines up but if you delete the warning in 2 Thess. 2:3 nothing lines up and that is why most pre-trib people will not say anything about this verse.
You also sent me Revelation 6:17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” What wrath. John is not talking to us about Satan’s wrath he is warning us about God’s wrath that begin to fall on the entire world Immediately after the 1/2 hour of silence in heaven which again you will see that does not happen until the 7th seal is broken at the mid point not at the beginning of the 7 year tribulation.
The last scripture you sent me was 1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, This verse still holds true as the Church will immediately be taken away after the 7th seal and see no wrath.
You also pointed out to me the following: “Not to mention the accounts of Noah, Lot, and Enoch.” I ask you this, how long did Noah have to endure the sins and live among those who defiled God? We know for sure at least 120 years because that is about the time period it took Noah to build that ark. As with the last generation Noah also had to endure patiently until God sealed Him and his family up in the Ark. Revelation 3:10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. Do you think Noah liked living with the ungodly until the Lord sealed him in the ark?
Lot lived in Sodom for a long time before the two angels came to get him out of the city before God’s wrath was poured out on those who have been vexing Lot. So like Noah who endured so did Lot until God stepping in to save them. However, for some reason people fail to point this out because it would not flow will with the pre-trib message.
You also mentioned Enoch in your email to prove God would remove us from the entire 7 years. However it possible that Enoch may have been chosen for an end time mission. According to the Bible, Enoch and Elijah are the only two people God took to heaven without them dying. Genesis 5:24 tells us, “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” Second Kings 2:11 tells us, “Suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.” Enoch is described as a man who “walked with God for 300 years” (Genesis 5:23). Elijah was perhaps the most powerful of God’s prophets in the Old Testament. There are also prophecies of Elijah’s return (Malachi 4:5-6).
Why did God take Enoch and Elijah? The Bible does not specifically give us the answer. Some speculate that they were taken in preparation for a role in the end times, possibly as the two witnesses in Revelation 11:3-12. This is possible, but not explicitly taught in the Bible. It may be that God desired to save Enoch and Elijah from experiencing death due to their great faithfulness in serving and obeying Him. Whatever the case, God has His purpose, and while we don’t always understand God’s plans and purposes, we know that “His way is perfect” (Psalm 18:30).
Here is the bottom line. If those you are asking about a pre-trib rapture make sure they also account for what we are told in 2 Thess. 2:3. If the person you speak with can show you that the Antichrist’s revealing comes at the beginning of the tribulation then you will have a case to stand on but the bible is very clear that this event takes place after the 7th seal. If I were you I would write the Rapture Ready people and ask them why they left out 2 Thess. 2:3?
Let us keep in mind the rapture is not a salvation issue but an issue of being right with Christ at all times so you don’t have to worry about the rapture at all!

Detailed report from investigators led by American Mary McGowan Davis calls on Israel to release details regarding its ‘targeting decisions’ while questioning ‘lamentable track record.’ The United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on Operation Protective Edge was released on Monday, saying Israel and Palestinian groups both committed abuses in the Gaza war that may amount to war crimes while also citing a press release from Hamas’ military spokesperson Abu Obeida, saying that, “In some instances, Palestinian armed groups in Gaza reportedly attempted to warn civilians in Israel of imminent attacks.” The report also suggested that Israel doesn’t do enough to investigate and punish alleged war crimes, saying that the Jewish nation must “break with its lamentable track record” and hold perpetrators accountable. Israel was called on to provide further details of its “targeting decisions” in the report, saying that this would allow for further independent assessment of its attack on Gaza. Investigators also took aim at Hamas in Gaza however, condemning the executions of alleged “collaborators” that amount to war crimes and demand that someone be held accountable.

A leaked diplomatic cable has revealed that Russia and Saudi Arabia agreed to trade votes for spots on the UN Human Rights Council. In a document hosted by WikiLeaks as part of its staggered release of 500,000 files taken after an electronic attack on the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations proposed an “arrangement of reciprocal support to the candidature of the Government of Russia to the Human Rights Council on the understanding that the Government of Russia would also extend its valuable support to the candidature of Saudi Arabia” in the elections to the body held in May 2013. Both countries have been criticised for human rights abuses in the past and the revelations in the cables have confirmed for some commentators the irregularity of the UNHRC’s selection process. “Ever wondered how the world’s worst regimes get on the UN Human Rights Council?” questioned executive director of UN Watch in Geneva, Hillel Neuer, on Twitter. “Now we know.” Though Saudi Arabia and Russia have often been at odds internationally – most notably backing different sides in the Syrian Civil War – the two countries have worked in tandem in other areas.

Headline: Egypt names first Israel envoy in three years
Egypt on Sunday appointed a new ambassador to Israel to fill a post that had been vacant since ousted Islamist president Mohammad Mursi recalled the previous envoy in 2012. State news agency MENA said that Hazem Khairat, a former ambassador to Chile, was appointed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. It did not say when he will take up his post. Khairat’s appointment was immediately “deeply” welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.“We’ve been informed by the government of Egypt that it is dispatching an ambassador to Israel. This is an important piece of news, we appreciate it,” Netanyahu said in Jerusalem.“It’s something that is deeply welcome in Israel, and I think it’s very good for cementing the peace that exists between Egypt and Israel,” he said at a joint news conference with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. Egypt was the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel in 1979. Jordan followed suit in 1994.

Leaders of the Jabal Druze and southern Syrian Druze community have reached a mutual non-belligerence understanding with heads of the Syrian rebel militias fighting in the region, including Al Qaeda’s arm, the Nusra Front. This is reported exclusively by debkafile’s military and intelligence sources. The United States and the King of Jordan gave the Druze guarantees that the deal struck Friday, June 10 would be honored. There and then, our sources add, Jordanian opened up a cross-border corridor to supply the half million dwellers of the Druze mountain villages with military assistance and essential supplies. debkafile has obtained the four main points of thes deal:
The Syrian Druze and anti-Assad rebel forces fighting under the Jordan-based joint command are committed to refrain from attacking the other party’s positions or places of habitation.
The Syrian rebel forces [battling Assad government forces] pledge not to enter or attack Druze villages on the Golan including Al Khader.
The Druze pledge not to permit Syrian government military and intelligence units based in their territory to operate their bases or use them for intelligence surveillance. The Druze village of Al Khader, for example, houses a Syrian air force surveillance base, which communicates directly with Syrian operational intelligence. The Druze will make sure to put it out of action.
The eight Druze militias loyal to Bashar Assad or tied to his regime and army will not be allowed to operate from southern Druze territory. All day Friday, Arab sources reported Israeli Air Force activity taking place over Syrian and Lebanese air space. Shortly before midnight, air strikes were claimed to have been conducted against targets inside Syria with no details. These reports were not confirmed.
Syria Headline: Suicide attack hit Kurdish security center in Syria’s Qamishli
On Sunday, a suicide attack hit the headquarters of the Asayish forces in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria. The attack, according to eyewitnesses, was carried out by a suicider wearing an explosive belt, who blew himself up in the Kurdish security center. “The attack killed a Kurdish security member and injured several others, as well as causing a huge damage in properties in the vicinity of the explosion area,” the Asayish administration in the city told ARA News. Activists accused militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) of being behind Qamishli’s attack. Following the attack, the Asayish forces closed all the roads leading to the explosion area in central Qamishli. Also on Sunday, the Media Center of Asayish reported the death of one of its members, Mohammed Alwan, when an IS-linked gunman opened fire against an Asayish patrol in the town of Chel Agha (Jawadiya) in the province of Hasakah. “The Asayish forces were searching for some IS-linked wanted men from the village of Kardim near the town of Chel Agha,” the statement added. “The attacker was finally shot dead when our forces failed to capture him,” the source said, without providing further information about the rest of the IS-linked wanted men.

Kurdish Headline: Kurds find ISIS tunnel near Turkish border
Kurdish forces have discovered a 400-meter (440-yard) long tunnel dug by ISIS militants near the Turkish border with Syria, a spokesman for the militia said Monday. Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG, discovered the half-completed tunnel after they captured the border town of Tal Abyad last week, spokesman Redur Khalil said. He said it wasn’t clear whether it was eventually meant to lead into Turkey as the tunnel splits into two different directions at one point. A tunnel linking Turkey to ISIS-held territory might offer some insight into the many ways in which Muslim radicals from around the world have slipped across the Turkish border to reach the fanatical group, whose territory straddles Syria and Iraq.

Headline: Chechen jihadist group with 15,000 fighters pledges allegiance to ISIL
A Chechen terror organization which boasts “as many as 15,000” fighters has pledged its loyalty to Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL). The Caucuses Emirate is responsible for over 900 attacks in Russia since 2007 and includes extremists from Chechnya, Daghestan and Ingushetia. We need to hurry up and unite so we can cut off the heads of the infidels,” the group’s leader, Aslan Byutukayev, said in a new propaganda video. Professor Gordon Hahn of the Monterey Terrorism Research and Education Program said the Caucuses Emirate could furnish ISIL with thousands of new fighters. “The entire CE [Caucuses Emirate] insurgency and terrorist movement may be estimated to number some 15,200 soldiers, leaders and facilitators,” Hahn wrote in his book The Caucasus Emirate Mujahedin. ISIL may add several thousand more fighters if a recently released video entitled “Soon, Soon” proves to be true. In the video, an unknown organization called “ISIL Tunisia Province” said it planned to set up a base and supply ISIL with 3,000 jihadi soldiers.

There should also be no demographic changes or population shifts on the Syrian side of the border as a result of Kurdish military offensives against Islamic State (IS) militants, also known as ISIL, according to a policy document reportedly approved by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The document was drafted during two high-level security meetings at Turkey’s foreign ministry, after Kurdish fighters captured the Syrian border town of Tal Abyad from the Islamic State last week. “No one can act in their own interest just because they are fighting ISIL…. The demographic structure of the region cannot be changed through a fait accompli,” states one section of the document leaked to Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper.

Headline: Saudi top secret memo says Iran bombed South Sudan
Top secret Saudi documents published by Wikileaks Friday reveal intrigue surrounding politics in the Middle East, making claims about Iranian military involvement in South Sudan as well claiming Gulf countries considered buying freedom for Egypt’s ousted strongman Hosni Mubarak to the tune of $10 billion. WikiLeaks has so far published roughly 60,000 documents, of which The Associated Press has only been able to authenticate a handful. But the organization has a long track record of hosting large leaks of government material and insists the latest batch is genuine. Saudi officials have not explicitly challenged the authenticity of the documents and Saudi diplomats have not answered repeated requests for comment. One memo, marked “top secret,” makes the startling claim that Iranian fighter jets bombed South Sudanese forces during a 2012 standoff over the oil-rich area of Heglig. AP noted there are many such hard-to-confirm stories in the Saudi documents. According to the documents, Saudis kept a watchful eye on Iran’s friends, real or perceived. One 2012 memo warned that Iran was getting “flirting American messages” suggesting that the U.S. had no objections to a peaceful Iranian nuclear program so long as it had guarantees, “possibly Russian ones.” Another memo, dated to 2012, accuses the United Arab Emirates of helping Russia and Iran circumvent international sanctions.

Headline: Iran lawmakers ban nuclear inspectors from military sites
With some lawmakers chanting “Death to the America,” Iran’s parliament voted to ban access to military sites, documents and scientists as part of a future deal with world powers over its contested nuclear program. The bill, if ratified, could complicate the ongoing talks in Vienna between Iran and the six-nation group — the U.S., Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — as they face a self-imposed June 30 deadline. The talks are focused on reaching a final accord that curbs Iran’s nuclear program in return for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Headline: Afghans counter Taliban offensive in northern Kunduz province
Government forces in northern Afghanistan have launched a counter-offensive against the Taliban, after they took control of a key district. Chardara is just a few kilometres from the city of Kunduz, and a major road to the capital Kabul runs through it. A Taliban website showed militants parading around a well-fortified police post they had seized. The government says it has regained control of another northern district, Yumgan in Badakshan province. Chardara local official Muhammad Yusuf Ayubi told AFP news agency that the district had fallen to the Taliban after hours of fighting, adding that 12 soldiers had died and 17 were wounded. Last month tens of thousands of people were displaced after the Taliban moved into the same area. The government believes that there are many foreign fighters allied to Islamic State fighting alongside the Taliban here.

Headline: Leaks allege assassination plot hatched by Egypt and Sudan
Egypt and Sudan collaborated in a plot to assassinate the president of South Sudan after the country secured independence in 2011, according to a document allegedly leaked from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A document released on Friday by WikiLeaks, part of the first batch of 500,000 set to be published in the coming weeks, appears to show that the Saudi Foreign Minister, Saud al-Faisal, wrote to the Saudi king, who also serves as the prime minister, about the plan to kill Salva Kiir Mayardit. Kiir led the government of southern Sudan until the secession of South Sudan from the north in 2011, when he became president – the leaked letter is not dated, but refers to the statesman as “the president of South Sudan”. According to the document text, Egypt’s intelligence apparatus sent “three of its most dangerous agents” to stay in the upmarket Khartoum district of Garden City. “The aim of sending them to Khartoum is to formulate a joint plan with the Sudanese intelligence for the elimination and assassination” of Kiir and some of his aides, Faisal allegedly wrote. The letter, which is not marked as confidential, ends with a plea for the Saudi prime minister to “examine” the contents of the document. The Egyptian and Sudanese authorities have not given any official statement about the allegations.

Headline: Tripoli forces hit Islamic State in Libya with air strikes
Libya’s self-declared government in control of the capital Tripoli has launched air strikes on Islamic State fighters in the city of Sirte, officials and witnesses said on Monday. Officials said the late Sunday night attacks were on a building where fighters had gathered, but gave no details of casualties. Witnesses reported they were accurate and said wounded militants had been taken to hospital. Fighters allied to Islamic State commanders in Iraq and Syria have been gaining ground in Libya, where two rival governments are battling for control and militants have taken advantage of the security vacuum. Islamist State has gained ground in cities like Sirte and Derna to the east, challenging local armed groups and government forces alike. “Warplanes of the air force of the National Salvation government conducted air strikes last night on an internal security building in Sirte,” ministry of defense spokesman Mohamed Abdulkafi said by phone, referring to the Tripoli government. “The strikes targeted a gathering of militants of Islamic State. No figures of casualties from the strikes have been reported so far,” he said. An eyewitness said the bombs hit a former headquarters of former ruler Muammar Gaddafi’s security forces in Sirte.

Headline: Thousands march in Armenia against price hikes
Some 4,000 Armenians took to the streets of the ex-Soviet republic’s capital Monday to protest against the government’s decision to hike electricity prices, an AFP journalist reported. Chanting “No to robbery!” and “Don’t slip your hands into our pockets,” protesters marched from Yerevan’s central Freedom Square toward the presidential palace where they were met by police cordons. Protesters accused President Serzh Sarkisian’s government of hiking power tariffs and failing to stem poverty in the landlocked Caucasus nation. A country of 3.2 million, Armenia has been badly affected by the economic crisis in Russia. Exports to Russia have fallen, as have remittances from Armenians working there. On Monday, EU foreign ministers agreed to prolong damaging economic sanctions against Russia until January 2016 over Moscow’s role in the Ukrainian crisis. In January, Armenia joined the Russia-led Eurasian Customs Union, further increasing Yerevan’s dependence on its former imperial master. The ex-Soviet country is economically isolated as its borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are blocked due to ongoing international disputes.

Headline: Islamists kill 8 officers in attack on Somali police station
Al Shabaab, al Qaeda’s official branch in Somalia, claims to have ambushed and killed more than 60 Ethiopian troops in southern Somalia last week. The claim has not yet been independently confirmed by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and the Ethiopian government has yet to release a statement about the attack. The statement from Shabaab’s media office, which has been translated by the SITE Intelligence Group, says that the “highly successful ambush carried out by a company of Mujahideen fighters from the ‘Sheikh Abu Zubayr Battalion’ began on Thursday (June 11) afternoon.” The battalion identified in the statement is named after the former emir of Al Shabaab, who was killed in a US drone strike last year. The jihadist group continues by saying that the unit destroyed 13 vehicles and killed dozens of soldiers in the Ethiopian convoy after “mowing them down with machine guns.” Shabaab claims that this ambush caused many in the Ethiopian ranks to retreat, leaving behind military hardware and “many of their comrades.” When the Ethiopian contingent sent reinforcements to the area the next morning, Shabaab said that it targeted the convoy “with a martyrdom operation,” or suicide bombing. The jihadists claimed to have destroyed many more vehicles and killed several more Ethiopian troops in this attack.

Headline: 30 dead after 2 girls blow selves up near northeast Nigeria mosque
Two girls blew themselves up on Monday near a crowded mosque in northeast Nigeria’s biggest city, killing about 30 people, witnesses said. It is the fourth suicide bombing this month in Maiduguri, which is the birthplace of the Boko Haram Islamic extremist group. Fishmonger Idi Idrisa said one teenager exploded as she approached the mosque crowded with people from the nearby Baga Road fish market, performing afternoon prayers during the holy month of Ramadan. The second teen appeared to run away and blew up further away, killing only herself, he said. Civilian defense fighter, Sama Ila Abu, said he counted at least 30 corpses as he helped to collect the dead. Both men said said there were many injured being sent to the hospitals. Boko Haram has kidnapped hundreds and hundreds of girls and women and the numbers of female suicide bombers has raised fears that it is using the captives in its campaign. A military bomb disposal expert has told the AP that most bombs carried by girls and women have remote devices, meaning the carrier cannot control the explosion.

Tens of thousands of anti-austerity protesters massed outside Britain’s parliament on Saturday to demonstrate against the newly re-elected Conservative government’s plans for further public spending cuts. Holding banners saying “End Austerity Now” and “Defy Tory Rule”, protesters had marched from the Bank of England in the heart of London’s financial district, in a rally which organizers said drew several hundred thousand people. Police declined to estimate numbers for the event, which featured speeches from celebrities such as singer Charlotte Church and comedian Russell Brand as well as trade unionists and Labour Party leadership contender Jeremy Corbyn. “Everyone from up and down the country is here because they have had enough of austerity, cuts and privatization,” university scientist Gareth Hardy told Reuters Video News. Headline: Car bomb explodes in Sanaa near Houthi mosque, 2 dead
ISIS said it was behind a car bomb that exploded in Yemen’s capital Sanaa Saturday near the Qiba al-Mahdi mosque, killing two people and wounding six others, witnesses and a security source told Reuters. The group said in a statement published on militant Twitter accounts that the attack was targeting the Houthi militia, whose fighters have used the mosque, located in the old city of Sanaa. On Wednesday the Sunni Muslim jihadi group claimed responsibility for four car bombs that detonated near mosques used by the Houthis and the group’s headquarters in Sanaa, killing two and injuring around 60 people. Two coalition air raids early on Saturday hit the al-Dulaimi air base near Sanaa’s international airport, while several others targeted Saada in northern Yemen and areas near the border with Saudi Arabia, witnesses and the Houthis said.

Headline: Russia warns Sweden it will face military action if it joins Nato
Russia would take military “countermeasures” if Sweden were to join Nato, according to the Russian ambassador. In an interview with Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, Viktor Tatarinstev warned against joining the Nato alliance, saying there would be “consequences”. Decrying what he called an “aggressive propaganda campaign” by the media, Tatarinstev stressed that “Sweden is not a target for our armed troops”. But with a recent surge of Swedish support for joining Nato, the ambassador said: “If it happens, there will be counter measures. “Putin pointed out that there will be consequences, that Russia will have to resort to a response of the military kind and re-orientate our troops and missiles. “The country that joins Nato needs to be aware of the risks it is exposing itself to.”

Headline: At least 10 wildfires rage on in four states
Wildfires have destroyed more than 45,000 acres in the West this week. At least ten major fires are burning in Arizona, California, Oregon and Alaska. One of the biggest is in the San Bernardino Mountains, east of Los Angeles. Helicopters are attacking the 11,000-acre fire from above, as hundreds of firefighters battle it on the ground. About 400 campers and residents were ordered to evacuate the heavily-wooded area. Further north in California, a wildfire in the Sierra National Forest south of Yosemite National Park has grown to over 500 acres. For now, the fire threatens few buildings but it destroyed Roy McCain’s home. “It’s a loss. Everything I have is gone,” McCain told CBS News. Even in Alaska fire season has started with a vengeance. The 7,000-acre Sockeye Fire burned right across the Parks Highway, between Anchorage and Fairbanks. With conditions so dry after four years of drought, work to prevent wildfires is particularly urgent this year. North of San Francisco, work crews have been busy where forest grows to the edge of densely-populated towns. Watershed manager Carl Sanders told CBS News his primary concern is dead and dying trees, and overgrown brush, which he refers to as “fuel load.” In preparation for a worst-case fire season, California has added two additional large air tankers to its fleet and hired 300 extra firefighters.

Headline: Heatwave in Pakistan’s Sindh province leaves 224 dead
Some 224 people are now believed to have died during a heatwave in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province. Health officials say most of the deaths have been in the largest city, Karachi, which has experienced temperatures as high as 45C (113F) in recent days. The city has seen power cuts caused by an increased demand for electricity because of the extreme weather. Many of the victims are elderly people who have been suffering from fever, dehydration and gastric problems. Hundreds of patients suffering from the effects of the heatwave are being treated at government hospitals, provincial health secretary Saeed Mangnejo said. Local media report that more than 150 bodies have been taken since Saturday to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth, which usually receives about 20 bodies a day.
