A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Vanuatu on 5 March at a depth of 636.8 km (395.7 mi).

Alaska: light quake felt in Anchorage The Alaska Earthquake Center says the Tuesday evening quake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.4. The center says it was also felt in Eagle River, Wasilla, Willow and Talkeetna. I have been watching and keeping track of the nations who have been working to divide up the nation of Israel. The United States is one of the nations working to do what God warned not to do which is to burden themselves over what?  Answer: Jerusalem.  Both Zechariah 12:3 and Joel 3:2 warn if you mess with Israel the Lord will destroy you.  Of course when you have the President of the United States burdening himself over Jerusalem and working to divide up Israel one thing is for sure, expect some form of disaster to strike the nation.  In my book I present you with all the facts showing you how God has cursed the nations who have come against Israel or who have done the things you see in the prophecies above.  In the latter part of  2013 Obama sent John Kerry to Israel to once again push for a two state agreement which if signed would divide up Israel.  In my book I show you what happened when Kerry began his work in the current round of peace talks.  I won’t go into the information here however, I want to send out a warning to all because God does carry out His word.  Watch the news and expect the hand of God to fall on the U.S. as long as they continue to work for a two state peace agreement which by the way would give the PLO East Jerusalem.

On March 3, 2014 the Israeli Prime Minister arrived in Washington D.C. and just as I have warned in the past people should have expected a natural disaster to strike. Watch my video below.

One thing that really bothers me is as long a Obama works to divide up Israel we should look for a huge disaster to befall America.  All I know is when the Lord warns He will cut you into pieces if you mess with Israel you really should listen to that warning.  If you don’t and you burden yourself over Israel and Jerusalem look for your land to be cut in pieces via some disaster.  I can’t tell you for sure what form of disaster will come if Obama continues to work on making Israel a two state nation.  All I know is something big will happen!  Could it be the disaster from the super volcano at Yellowstone?  There are predictions that Yellow Stone is may go off and if that is true much of the West Coast in America will go with it.  I watch the news every day and report what the Lord is showing us via His word.  I am preparing myself for anythng knowing Obama will continue to press Israel to give land back to the PLO for their own state.  I know many of you will disguard these facts and, I also know that people will seek me out to know what God has revealed.  All I will be able to do is point to His Holy Word as all of His warnings about the last days are found in the Bible.  I have thousands of people around the world who count on my post each day to provide them with information connecting the dots between the current events and Bible prophecy.  What if in the morning you found out that Frank DiMora is no longer posting?  I know many would be alarmed because over the years they have seen everything I have warned them about has come to pass and now without Bible knowledge they may not know what to do.  I have the answer.  Start reading the Bible for yourself and learn what Jesus wants you to know.  You can not count on anyone to be there for you because as I said, I could be gone in the morning.  I pray the Lord to keep me safe so I can continue to lead many to Him however, after keeping taps on what is happening at Yellow Stone I really wonder what is in store not only for myself but all those people who live in the Western part of the U.S. if Yellow Stone blows.  I have received emails from people telling me that the U.S. Government is keeping information from the public concerning Yellow Stone.  I can not verify if this is true or not.  I know I have many people who visit my prophecy site who live close to Yellow Stone.  May I ask you to help me keep the people informed if you feel anything in your area.  I truly hope Yellow Stone will keep still but I am alarmed in my heart knowing the actions of President Obama towards Israel. I wanted to keep you up-to-date as to what is happening in the U.S. concerning earthquakes.  Some of the current quakes are taking place in areas where we don’t see much news about quakes hitting those areas. 

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Tennessee earthquake today 2014 struck north of Georgia. . The Tennessee earthquake today March 6, 2014 began in the morning hours. Damage assessment is pending. Officials tell news that a 2.6 magnitude Tennessee earthquake today started just after 3:29 am local time. The quake was shallow. Reps tell news that the quake started only thirteen miles below ground level. As a result the quake could be felt across the immediate region.USGS indicates to news that the quake was five miles southeast of Loudon. It was fifteen miles southwest of Farragut and seventeen miles west of Maryville. The quake was twenty-two miles south of Oak Ridge and roughly one hundred miles north of Atlanta, Georgia. Reps tell news that today’s quake hit in the Eastern Tennessee Seismic Zone which spans part of the state along with sections of Georgia and Alabama, namely “across Tennessee and northwestern Georgia into northeastern Alabama.” They add “It is one of the most active earthquake areas in the Southeast. Although the zone is not known to have had a large earthquake, a few earthquakes in the zone have caused slight damage.” Nevertheless the biggest quake in recent memory was only a 4.6 temblor that hit in 2003 near Fort Payne, Alabama. “Earthquakes too small to cause damage are felt about once a year. Earthquakes too small to be felt are abundant in the seismic zone, and seismographs have recorded hundreds of them in recent decades. “

Before I go on to the next report I want to make the connection between the news you will see and what the Bible tells us.  This is what we know for sure. Soon Egypt will join in with all the nations you see listed in the Psalm 83 war.  Egypt was befriended by Russia which makes perfect sense in light of what the Bible shows us.  You see Egypt and Russia have something in common, they both will make attempts in destroying Israel but both these nations will fail as God is not going allow Israel to be destroyed by the Psalm 83 nations or the Ezekiel 38 nations.  Egypt may not even know what their future holds as most of the leaders in Egypt do not read the Holy Bible nor do they believe it.  However, those in Egypt who know what Psalm 83 says should get ready to see this prophecy being completely fulfilled soon.  I say soon because the current round of peace talks are going no where and the end result will be war.  There is one sure way to see if the Lord is who He says He is and that is by witnessing for yourself the events He warns us about.  I promise you soon you will see the hand of God move again in the Middle East as the nations in the photo below all come together in their attempt to wipe out Israel.  Russia and Egypt have become allies for a purpose.  After Russia sees that Israel has taken out their allies she will make a move to remove Israel and that is where the Ezekiel 38 war comes in.  Russia under Putin is becoming a prideful nation and the Lord tells us “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).  When you read Ezekiel 38 and 39 you will see how Russia and her allies are all destroyed.  I pray that those in any of the nations listed in the Psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel 38 war would please consider what you read here today and believe in what God has shown us about the near future.  I pray for your souls as we are all Brothers but, some of the Brothers are unbelievers of the Lord’s salvation message.  If you follow your leaders in either the Psalm or Ezekiel war you will not face the wrath of Israel, you will face the wrath of God.  It is for this reason I write to you concerning the Egypt and Russian connection.

In my book I show you the nations that are taking Israel off their maps.  In today’s news there is another nation that joined the ranks of nations who are isolating Israel.  The Zechariah prophecy you see below has been under way but as of late it is speeding up. You can expect to hear more nations threating Israel to isolate them if they do not give the PLO their own State with in Israel.  The days where people who don’t want to hear about Bible prophecy because they are scared or, they don’t like to talk about it are coming to a close.  Why? Because soon the prophecies that have not yet been fulfilled are going to make the headlines and there will be no way anyone can hide themselves from the news.  One of these prophecies we seen creeping up fast is in fact the Zechariah 12:3 prophecy.  One of the major events that will speed up the world coming against Israel will be the failed peace talks between Israel and the PLO.  We are almost at that point now.  The news each day is filled with headlines warning what will happen if Israel doesn’t cave in and grant land to the Palestinians.  Of course this type of news is showing us that another prophecy which hasn’t been fully completed yet will also be fully fulfilled. I am referring to the call for Peace and Safety which you will see below.

The national airline of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways, which annually receives hundreds of thousands of dollars from the US government, has left out Israel, one of America’s staunchest allies, from its official travel-route map, according to a Monday report in the New York Post. While Etihad displays every country in the region, from Cyprus to Iraq, the Jewish state does not appear on maps presented to the airline’s travelers. Yet, the US Department of Homeland Security spends $425,000 a year on a preclearance customs facility at the Abu Dhabi Airport, which is used solely by Etihad. The Emirati airline refuses to provide transport to Israeli passengers, as Israeli passport holders are not permitted entry into the country because the Gulf nation does not recognize the Jewish State. In the past, Etihad Airways has even provided lessons to employees on how to identify Israeli travels based on accent and mannerisms, according to a BBC report. The Jewish community in the US is furious with the conduct of the Arab airline. Justin Lee, a Jewish travel expert from New York, was outraged that American taxpayer money is used to pay an airline that supports discrimination

In many of my writing I have warned you to watch what happens when the peace talks fail.  We know for sure war will break out because in the above prophecy Jesus shows us sudden destruction will take place not peace. In my book I cite news reports showing you the nations listed in the Psalm 83 war saying war will break out between the Arabs and Israel if there is no peace agreement signed between the PLO and Israel.  For years I have been warning you not to expect any peace break through and, I cite the reasons why the peace talks will fail.  Google Israel won’t stop building settlements Israel frank dimora and, I am sure you will see many of my previous posts come up where I discuss the settlement issue.  Israel has stated numerous times they have the right to build on their own land and no one is going to stop them.  Over the past two years as you will see from the news below Israel has continued to build homes for their citizens. Of course the settlement issue is one of the many reasons why the PLO continues to back out of the peace talks. Between the settlement issue, owner ship of East Jerusalem, and  breaking up Israel into two states one for the PLO we can see the peace talks will go no where.  I take that back, they will go somewhere and that place will be the fulfillment of the Psalm 83 war between the Arabs and Israel.

‘There is No Chance of a Palestinian State’

Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel says Netanyahu appears to be standing up to US pressure on ‘framework for peace.’

Ariel also provided a response to Monday’s news that building in Judea and Samaria had increased by over 123% between 2012 and 2013. "This is proof that there is no way there will be a Palestinian state west of the Jordan river," Ariel declared. "We need to build more throughout Israel," he continued, "in the Galilee, in the Negev, and in Judea and Samaria. This is part of the solution to the housing crisis [in general] which is in itself a difficult problem. As you can see from the report which came out yesterday Abbas won’t talk about peace unless Israel stops construction on land Abbas says is PLO land.  For those of you who think the Bible is just a made up story all I can say is your in for a big awakening when you see the rest of these prophecies fulfilled!

Israel risking international sanctions over settlements – Obama

Ahead of talks between the US leader and Israeli PM Netanyahu in Washington on Monday, Obama warned that the United States may not be able to protect Israel if a two-state solution with the Palestinians fails.

Following nine months of failed efforts to reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians, Obama warned in an interview with Bloomberg that Israel risked international sanctions.
Obama said in an interview with Bloomberg that if Netanyahu “does not believe that a peace deal with the Palestinians is the right thing to do for Israel, then he needs to articulate an alternative approach. There comes a point where you can’t manage this anymore, and then you start having to make very difficult choices.”  On his part, however, Netanyahu has vowed to hold steady in the face of heavy international pressure for a settlement with the Palestinians, who won de facto recognition in the 193-nation UN General Assembly in November 2012. "In recent years, the state of Israel has been under various pressures," Netanyahu said, AP reported.
"We have rejected them in the face of the unprecedented storm and unrest in the region and are maintaining stability and security. This is what has been and what will be."  There are an estimated 4.3 million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza with aspirations to achieve a Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital – just one of many sticking points in the process. Obama, however, is of the opinion that Netanyahu could guide the Israeli state toward peace if he chose to do so.

I sure hope you take notice why I am highlighting the words peace and security in the above report?  I just want to make sure you understand that these are the very things Jesus Christ warned us about and, there is no other generation who has seen all these things come together except our generation.  Let me be clear about this. Christ makes it very clear to us that the generation who witnessed all the signs taking place at once, they would be the generation who would see Him come back! This is the very reason why almost on a daily bases now we can read a report about the failing peace talks and Israel finding themselves being singled out by nation after nation.

As you can see from the new reports the rockets keep falling on Israel.  If you want peace with someone would you sit down at a peace table with the people who are trying to kill you while you are talking peace with them?  And Obama wants Israel to just give in to the PLO?

IAF Strikes Gaza After Rocket Attack

Palestinian Arab media sources claim one person killed during the airstrike. The Israeli Air Force struck a terrorist target in northern Gaza Monday night, after a rocket was fired at the Ashkelon region, according to the IDF. AFP reports that the target was a terror cell preparing another rocket launch into Israel. Palestinian Arab media sources claim that at least one person has been killed and three injured in the IAF strike. As you can see from the March 3rd news below Obama is still on the wrong side of the blessings.  Obama is still causing the Lord’s curse to fall on the U.S. as he continues to work for dividing up Israel.

Obama: Still time for a two-nation solution

US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu held a joint news conference ahead of their White House meeting Monday. Referring to the two issues on which they differ, Obama said there was still time for a two-nation solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, adding he was committed to preventing Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. Netanyahu: The Palestinians are not pulling their weight for a political solution of the dispute. The people in Israel, he said, "expect me to stand up to pressures." The two leaders then started their face to face talks behind closed doors.

The reason why I am posting the news below is to inform you of two important things.  The first is that the peace talks are suppose to end in April.  Let us look at the past.  Ever since 1979, when Egypt signed a peace agreement with Israel the Arabs have been trying to come up with some type of peace pact between the PLO and Israel.  Ever since 1979 talks have come and gone without any peace deal.  For the most part since 1979 the issues holding up a peace deal have not changed.  The same issues that were put on the peace table back in 1979 are still the same issues that are causing the current round of peace talks to fail.  Knowing this history of the peace talks that have come and gone as a women with  birth pains. What do you think is going to happen with the April dead line for the peace talks?
We you see another one of these labor pains or will there be a peace deal signed?  Take a look at the prophecy concerning peace and safety again and this time pay attention to the highlighted yellow part. 1 Thessalonians 5:3³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  Didn’t Jesus warn us about call for peace and safety?  Yes He did!  Didn’t He also warn us of how these peace talks would go when He pointed out they would take place as travail upon a woman with child?  The answer again is yes!  Knowing that Jesus has gotten everything correct and, keep in mind it was the Lord who told us Israel would be reborn again and that happened just as was written.  I ask you now do you really think all these things are a coincidence?  Think about this for a moment.  Jesus warned us that Israel would be talking peace and safety yet when the Lord spoke to the Apostles He told them that Jerusalem would fall however, in the last days Israel would be born again as a nation.  Christ’s warning came to pass in 70AD when the Romans killed the Jews and burned down the Jewish Temple.  After that the Jews had no homeland but wait, just as Christ spoke Israel became a nation again on May 14, 1948 and that set in place the way for the peace and safety prophecy which as you can now  from the as travail upon a woman with child warning has also come to pass.  God is the only one who knows for sure what will take place in after the April deadline but there is one thing that I will be watching for and that is the second part of the peace and safety prophecy which is the sudden destruction.  If I were you knowing that the Psalm 83 war has not taken place yet, I would be on the watch for it!  The next report addresses the MiddelEast clock ticking and the April deadline but the clock you should be concerned with if your not saved in Christ Jesus yet is the second coming where the Lord removes everyone who has received Him as their Lord.  I said this many times but for the sake of anyone new reading my post I want to say it again.  You do not want to be left behind on this Earth when Jesus comes to remove His children.  If you are left behind you will be faced with conditions on Planet Earth that have never been seen before nor will the Earth every see again.  Wouldn’t you rather want to be safe with Christ then have to face the Antichrist? 

Since I am pointing out the peace and safety talks today you have to remember that there will be a pact signed between Israel and many nations as we see in Daniel 9:27 which states the following: “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”  This is what you can expect if you refuse Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  You will see the current peace talks fall apart and then the Psalm 83 war to break out as a result of the failed peace talks.  After the Psalm 83 war there Israel will feel safe and begin to remove the 320 mile wall that they have built to keep out their enemies the PLO.  After a short period of time of which only the Lord knows there will be another war which will take place which will be the Ezekiel 38 war. You can find out all about this war in Ezekiel chapters 38-39. It appears that after this war the Antichrist will then confirm the covenant Daniel address in Daniel 9:27.  When you see that 7 year pact go into place you need to understand that you are looking at the beginning of the 7 year tribulation that Jesus wrote us about in the Book of Revelation.  I don’t know how anyone can prepare themselves for this 7 year time period except to say whatever you do do not take the mark of the beast which Jesus tells us about  in Revelation 15-17. “¹⁵ And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.¹⁶ And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:¹⁷ And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” 

One of the reasons why I spend so much of my time posting is in the hope that my work will lead many to Christ so they don’t have to go through this 7 year tribulation.  Fact is, just about everyone is going to die during this time frame so your chances of making it through the entire 7 years is very very slim!  You have free will to do what you will just as Adam and Eve had and look at where Adam and Eve’s action got us!

Does anyone remember when I warned them to watch what Russia does in the future?  One of my posts I put up the report you see below which came out in Jan. 19, 2008.  In my book I warn you what Russia is going to do and why?  What Russia doesn’t understand is what they are doing is following the road that is going to lead them to the Ezekiel 38 war of which Russia will lead against Israel. The question you may want to ask at this point is this.  Will Russia really use nukes if they see their allies in danger? 

There is no question that since Russia discovered oil they have come back again as a super power.  Putin wants to flex his muscles in the Middle East and he wants the world to know he is a man of action and power. Now that the Ukraine problem has begun it is a good time to point out that Christ warned us to watch for these types of conflicts just prior to His second coming.  In the past two years we have witnessed at least 14 Islamic nations go into turmoil as they fought against themselves for one reason or another. We also witnessed the EU turmoil as nation after nation began to fight against themselves over the failing economy.  The latest of these nations who are fulfilling the Kingdom against Kingdom warning is Syria, Egypt, and now you can add the Ukraine to the growing list.

Christian Persecution Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:  I can’t count the number of times people ask me if  President Obama is a Christian?  All I can say is keep an eye out for Obama’s actions because his actions will show you if he is a true Christian or really a Muslim.  The first thing I ever picked up on when Obama was first elected was when in an interview with George Stephanopoulos.  I have been saved since 1976 and in all that time I have never seen a single Christian slip up and say he was something other than what they were.  In the case of Obama Obama made it clear that he is truly a Muslim.  If George did not take the time to step in and tell Obama you mean your Christian  faith Obama would have keep on like nothing was wrong.  I find it hard to believe someone who loves Jesus Christ and is a true follower of Him would ever say his Muslim faith!  Over the years since being elected Obama has shown us that his true faith is Muslim.  Take a look at what Obama has done in pushing the gay agenda, supporting the abortion not only in the U.S. but over seas as well, and will calling Israel is a friend he has worked endlessly to divide up the nation of Israel plus, he has allowed Iran to keep going on with their quest to obtain a nuclear weapon that Iran would try to use against Israel.  Ask yourself why would a true Christian cover up the cross and do so much to hurt Christianity?  Keep in mind, the Muslim faith teaches it is okay to lie.  Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other, unless the purpose of lying is to "smooth over differences." There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam – in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.  It appears that Obama has no problem lying when it comes down to stopping Christianity. 

What if you were a Christian sitting in the White House instead of Obama.  Would you do what you can to make sure a family that wants to live free and teach their kids their beliefs?  As you will see from the video report below the Obama Admin. has again shown the true colors and those colors are not in favor of Christians.

Headline:  ‘Hezbollah denies claims Israel attacked arms shipment from Syria’

Hezbollah is denying reports that Israel bombed an arms shipment from Syria into Lebanon last week. While acknowledging that Israeli jets did launch the strike, a senior source close to the Shi’ite organization’s leadership told the Kuwaiti daily newspaper A-Rai that the goal of the attack was to “send a message.” “We and the Israelis know that there wasn’t any weapons transfer from Syria into Lebanon,” the source told A-Rai. He said the strike caused light damage. The source added that the region that was attacked, the village of Jarud Jonta, is located in a strategic area near the Syrian-Lebanese border. The village is a logistical point from where arms were smuggled between Syria and Lebanon.  The Hezbollah source added that Israel is treating wounded oppositionists in its field hospital on the Golan Heights because it doesn’t want al-Qaida operatives and Islamist extremists near its border. “So Israel is forced , from its standpoint, to create a buffer zone on its border so that those who want to be on the Israeli side could go there [for treatment],” the source said. While it is heavily engaged in the Syrian conflict, Hezbollah “won’t hesitate” to take on Israel militarily if the need arises, the source said.

One Palestinian was killed and two others wounded in an Israel Air Force strike on Gaza on Monday night. The Israel Defense Forces announced that the target was a group of militants in Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza Strip, who were preparing to launch rockets into Israel. Palestinian sources identified the dead man as Musab Moussa al-Zaaneen, 21, and said the other two were moderately-to-seriously wounded, according to the independent Palestinian news service Ma’an. The strike came about an hour after sirens sounded in the area of Ashkelon. No rockets were reported to have landed in Israel. On Friday evening an Israeli plane attacked a rocket launcher in the north of the strip. According to the army, the strike “carried out in order to eliminate an imminent attack targeting civilian communities of southern Israel.”

President Barack Obama says tough decisions will have to be made as the deadline nears for completing a framework for peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. Obama is speaking in a meeting in the Oval Office with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He says it’s still possible to create two states — one for Israelis and one for Palestinians. But Obama says it’s difficult and requires compromises on all sides. He’s commending Netanyahu for engaging in “tough negotiations” with the Palestinians. But if Netanyahu “does not believe that a peace deal with the Palestinians is the right thing to do for Israel, then he needs to articulate an alternative approach,” Obama said. Israel can expect to face international isolation and possible sanctions from countries and companies across the world if Benjamin Netanyahu fails to endorse a framework agreement with the Palestinians, US President Barack Obama cautioned on Sunday ahead of a meeting with the Israeli prime minister. The president went on to condemn in no uncertain terms Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank, and said that though his allegiance to the Jewish state was permanent, building settlements across the Green Line was counterproductive and would make it extremely difficult for the US to defend Israel from painful repercussions in the international community. “If you see no peace deal and continued aggressive settlement construction — and we have seen more aggressive settlement construction over the last couple years than we’ve seen in a very long time — if Palestinians come to believe that the possibility of a contiguous sovereign Palestinian state is no longer within reach, then our ability to manage the international fallout is going to be limited,” Obama said. The president added that Israel must come to a decision over its future character and weigh whether its current policies are conducive to achieving its true aspirations. “Do you resign yourself to what amounts to a permanent occupation of the West Bank?” he inquired of the Israeli public. “Is that the character of Israel as a state for a long period of time? Do you perpetuate, over the course of a decade or two decades, more and more restrictive policies in terms of Palestinian movement? Do you place restrictions on Arab Israelis in ways that run counter to Israel’s traditions?” he asked. Obama further stated that in his opinion, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas “has proven himself to be somebody who has been committed to nonviolence and diplomatic efforts to resolve” the conflict.

Headline:   Abbas insists on settlement freeze before more talks

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met with Meretz Chairwoman Zehava Galon Monday to discuss the ongoing “peace talks” between Israel and the PA. Muhammad Al-Madani, Fatah Central Committee member and Head of the Palestinian Committee for Interaction with Israeli Society, noted during a press conference that the meeting covered the ongoing negotiations between Israel and the PA and concerns that talks will fail. Abbas and Galon resolved to work together to form a peace pact between the two countries, according to Madani, despite the threat posed by “Israeli extremists.” The Fatah official added that hopes are high that the intervention of US President Barack Obama, who is meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Monday and will meet with Abbas on March 17, will lead to peace. Madani stressed that if the intervention fails, Israeli politicians will be called upon to overcome the obstacles presented by “Israeli extremism” and Israelis will have to elect “pro-peace” parties to the Knesset.  “The Palestinian side has done everything in its power to bring about a peace agreement,” Madani claimed. “It is now Israel’s turn to fulfill its obligations.” “There is intervention from the US and the international community here, so why should the PA concede more than it already is?” he continued. “The PA will not give up on its national principles, no matter what pressures are placed upon it.”

Headline:  Lebanese Officials: Hezbollah Likely Behind Hermon Rocket Attack

Hezbollah was likely behind a rocket attack near an IDF post in Mount Hermon early Saturday morning, security and military sources told Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star on Sunday night. The officials said that the attack was Hezbollah’s retaliation for alleged Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah targets near the Lebanese-Syrian border. Two rockets were fired at Israel in the attack, and no injuries or damages were reported. Some speculated the rockets came from accidental spillover from clashes in neighboring Syria, but senior security sources told the Walla! news website that the rocket fire may have been a deliberate attack by Hezbollah. Multiple military and security sources, who refused to speak on the record due to the sensitivity of the situation, told The Daily Star that the rocket attack was most likely staged by Hezbollah in retaliation for last week’s airstrikes. The IDF has been on “high alert” near the Lebanese border since Wednesday, when Hezbollah threatened to retaliate for the airstrikes that have been attributed to Israel. The IDF declined to officially comment on the alleged airstrike, but an Israeli security source confirmed to the Reuters news agency that there has been “unusually intense air force activity in the north”, referring to Lebanon.

Headline:  Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon claim responsibility for Brital attack

Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon claimed responsibility on Monday for a rocket attack outside the Lebanese Beqaa town of Brital earlier in the day. “The heroes of Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon have launched a number of Grad missiles at the strongholds of the devil’s party [Hezbollah] in the area of Brital in retaliation to the ongoing massacres conducted by the party,” the group said in a statement. “We tell our families in Lebanon to be patient because soon God will solve [the situation],” the statement added. The terror organization also said told the Lebanese people to “attach your hearts to God, not to a president who cannot defend himself and an army whose leaderships do not dare to hold the smallest members of [Hezbollah] accountable [for their acts].” Earlier on Monday, five rockets launched from Syria hit a Hezbollah-dominated area of eastern Lebanon, causing no casualties, a security source told AFP. Two of the rockets landed near Brital’s high school, and one near the municipality of nearby village Al-Khudr. The two remaining rockets hit an area between the two villages, causing no injuries.

Headline:   Saudi Arabia calls on all foreign fighters to leave Syria

Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has called for the withdrawal of all foreign fighters from Syria and is demanding they face international justice if they committed war crimes there. Riyadh is concerned that Saudi militants in Syria could turn their weapons on the kingdom. Minister of Information and Culture Abdelaziz Khoja said in a statement Monday on behalf of the Cabinet that the kingdom “renews its firm position condemning terrorism in all its forms.” Last month, Saudi King Abdullah decreed it a crime for Saudi nationals to fight in foreign conflicts. The move was largely aimed at curbing extremist Saudis fighting alongside Syrian rebels. Volunteers from across the Sunni Muslim world have joined Syrian rebel groups, in particular an al-Qaida breakaway faction. Lebanese and Iraqi Shiites, meanwhile, are fighting on the government side.

Egypt’s new prime minister has urged a halt to all protests and strikes to give the nation a breather to rebuild after more than three years of deadly turmoil. Ibrahim Mehlib made his appeal in an address televised live on Sunday, his first full day on the job after he and members of his Cabinet were sworn in on the previous day. Mehlib was named prime minister last week following the surprise resignation of his predecessor, Hazem El-Beblawi, after seven months in office. The former government faced a wave of strikes and protests that officials said undercut the economy. “The time for work and productivity has come and no voice must be louder than the voice of construction and development,” said Mehlib, a former housing minister and a construction executive.

A UN spokesman says the latest clashes that erupted in a blockaded area of the Syrian capital have disrupted efforts to distribute food to thousands of people there. UNWRA spokesman Chris Gunness issued a statement on Monday, calling on all warring parties in the city’s Palestinian-dominated Yarmouk to “immediately allow” the resumption of aid to the area. For nearly a year, forces loyal to President Bashar Assad have prevented food distribution and medical aid to tens of thousands of Yarmouk residents. As a result, over 100 people have died of hunger or hunger-related illnesses. The UN began distributing food to Yarmouk in January but those efforts have been frequently hindered by violence. Syrian officials and activists in Yarmouk say the latest clashes, which erupted on Sunday, are the most serious yet to bedevil truce efforts and food distribution.

Headline:  Syrian army captures village near crucial border town

Syrian troops seized control Monday of a village near the strategic rebel bastion of Yabrud as they pushed closer to the town near the border with Lebanon, state television said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group, meanwhile, said the army, backed by Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah, was “advancing” in the area, but that “fierce battles are still ongoing there.” Al-Qaeda’s Syria affiliate, Al-Nusra Front, is playing a major role in the fighting, said the Britain-based Observatory. State television said the army “took control of Sahel village in the Yabrud area, after killing several terrorists.” Sahel is only six kilometres (four miles) from Yabrud, a key rebel stronghold in the Qalamoun mountains, north of Damascus, and near the Lebanese border. For nearly three weeks, the Yabrud area has come under intense, daily bombardment. The battle for Yabrud is crucial for Hezbollah, which accuses rebels of using it as a gateway to sending car bombs to target its strongholds in eastern Lebanon and southern Beirut. Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman described Sahel as “a key entry point to Yabrud” but stressed that the army had not taken it yet. “The army does not want to take Yabrud. It’s objective is to seize the surrounding villages and hills, to completely besiege the town.”

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin hinted that Russian military intervention in Ukraine could go beyond Crimea, the region now under effectively occupied by Russia. That’s according to the Kremlin’s brief account of the phone call, initiated by Obama. “Vladimir Putin stressed that in case of any further spread of violence to Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, Russia retains the right to protect its interests and the Russian-speaking population of those areas,” it said.

Merkel raised the idea in a phone conversation late Sunday in which she accused Putin of breaking international law with the “unacceptable Russian intervention in Crimea.” A Kremlin statement said Putin defended Russia’s action against “ultranationalist forces” in Ukraine and insisted measures taken so far were “fully adequate,” the Associated Press reported.

Secretary of State John Kerry said he has consulted with other world leaders, and “every single one of them are prepared to go to the hilt in order to isolate Russia with respect to this invasion.” Obama spoke Sunday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski. Kerry planned to travel to Kiev Tuesday for meetings with the Ukrainian government. Officials said the Obama administration would also focus this week on putting together a package of economic assistance for Ukraine. Beyond economic sanctions and visa bans, freezing Russian assets, and trade and investment penalties, Kerry said Moscow risks being booted out of the powerful Group of Eight of world industrial powers as payback for the military incursion.

Our sources were unable to confirm that Merkel ever said to President Barack Obama when she reported on the conversation in reference to Putin that “she was not sure he was in touch with reality. He lives in another world.” Senior official sources reported instead that the chancellor had proposed to Putin that Russian troops be withdrawn in stages from Crimea and their place taken by European Union observers. She also suggested that the interim government provide guarantees to refrain from occupying the regions vacated by the Russian army or harming the Russian-speaking populations of Ukraine. In effect, Chancellor Merkel added her voice to a formulation taking shape in consultations Sunday at EU and NATO headquarters in Brussels, which called for “an inclusive political process in Ukraine based on democratic values, respect for human rights, minorities and the rule of law, which fulfills the democratic aspirations of the entire Ukrainian people.”

The dead included foreign fighters, he said, adding that operations to retake some areas of the city were still ongoing.

In a brief statement, the justice ministry denounced the abduction “of youths who were expressing their views.” Earlier protesters said gunmen had broken up the sit-in on Saturday night before detaining some of them, without being able to give a figure. “Armed men came firing in the air and they set fire to a tent set up by demonstrators” in front of the GNC, Libya’s highest political authority, said protester Milad al-Arbi.

Headline:  North Korea fires two missiles off eastern coast

North Korea fired two short-range missiles off its eastern coast Monday, the second such launch in less than a week, according to the South Korean Defense Ministry. The defense ministry said it is on high alert and monitoring the situation. It called on the North to stop the missile launches. The weapons launched were Scud missiles that flew more than 500 kilometers (311 miles), according to the defense ministry. The missiles landed in the sea, South Korea’s semi-official Yonhap news agency reported. On Thursday (see 2^nd link) , four Scud missiles with a shorter range were fired into the sea off North Korea’s eastern coast — flying about 220 kilometers (137 miles), according to Yonhap — just days after the start of annual joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States. South China’s Guangdong Province reported a new case of human infection with the H7N9 virus on Monday, with the patient having died on Sunday. The man, surnamed Wu, was confirmed to have contracted the bird flu virus on Sunday. He had chronic bronchitis and died of organ failure later that day, according to local health authorities. Guangdong also reported three H7N9-related deaths at the end of February. However, two H7N9 patients in the province were discharged from hospitals over the weekend. Across the country, the H7N9 strain of bird flu has infected more than 120 people and killed 36 of them so far this year.

A volcano has erupted in Guatemala, prompting the authorities to consider the evacuation of some 3,000 people living in the area. The Pacaya volcano began spewing ash and lava after a powerful explosion on Saturday afternoon. New explosions were seen on Sunday, with ash clouds reaching a height or at least 4km (3 miles). Flights have been diverted from the area, some 50km (30 miles) south of the capital, Guatemala City. The Pacaya is one of three active volcanoes in the Central American nation. The other two are the Fuego and the Santa Maria. “We are assessing with the National Disaster Management Centre (Conred) whether we will need to evacuate the 3,000 people who live in the villages of El Rodeo and Patrocinio,” said the Pacaya National Park director, Humberto Morales. “Access to the areas around the volcano has been suspended,” he told the Prensa Libre newspaper. The Guatemalan authorities have issued an amber alert, the third highest. It means people must remain alert and be prepared to leave the area at short notice.

The United Nations on Monday proposed a nearly 12,000-strong peacekeeping force for conflict-ravaged Central African Republic that would have a “robust mandate” and initially focus on protecting civilians. The European Union is already deploying 1,000 soldiers to join 6,000 African and 2,000 French troops, who have struggled to stop the fighting sparked when the mostly Muslim Seleka rebels seized power a year ago in the majority Christian state. Ban said a military response to the “current situation of violence and impunity” would be insufficient, which is why he called for a large number of U.N. police.

A spokesman for a little known militant group, Ahrar ul-Hind, which recently split from the main Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) umbrella group, claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack. Witnesses say the attackers lobbed hand grenades into the crowd and sprayed people with bullets before blowing themselves up. The explosions sent lawyers and judges in the surrounding chambers and offices running in fear.

Headline:  Bahrain bomb kills 3 police during protest

A bomb blast in Bahrain killed three policemen as they were dispersing ‘‘rioters and vandals’’ on the outskirts of the capital Manama, authorities said Monday in an escalation likely to increase tensions between security forces and hard-line protesters. The Interior Ministry said in a statement that the police were killed Monday in what it called a ‘‘terror bombing attack,’’ and that initial indications suggest the bomb was planted near a lamp post and was detonated remotely. Two other explosions occurred nearby and another bomb was defused, the ministry said. Among those killed in the blast was a police officer from the United Arab Emirates deployed to help bolster security in the tiny island kingdom. In Bahrain’s three-year uprising, a Shiite-dominated opposition movement is demanding increased political rights from the Sunni monarchy. The country is a small, Western-allied island kingdom off the coast of Saudi Arabia that is home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet. While mainstream opposition leaders have urged their followers to keep the demonstrations peaceful, young protesters armed frequently clash with riot police in running street skirmishes. Some radical anti-government factions have been increasingly using bombs targeting government forces. The weapons typically do not have the force of explosives used by insurgents in places such as Iraq or Syria, though they have resulted in a number of deaths.
