Netanyahu: If Fatah-Hamas unity deal signed, we’ll hold Abbas responsible for every rocket
Israel will hold Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas responsible for every rocket fired on it from Gaza if he goes through with his national unity pact with Hamas, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday.
The prime minister made his comments in Tokyo before the start of a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, and two days before Abbas is scheduled to meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry in London.
Jerusalem has been lobbying the international community to place pressure on Abbas not to consummate his unity agreement with Hamas. Under the agreement, announced last month just prior to the expiration of the ninemonth deadline in the US-brokered diplomatic talks, an interim unity PA government is to be set up by the end of May, and elections held six months after that.
Netanyahu made clear in his statement that if the deal is not implemented, Israel would be willing to return to the negotiations.

De-Dollarization: Russia Is On The Verge Of Dealing A Massive Blow To The Petrodollar
Is the petrodollar monopoly about to be shattered? When U.S. politicians started slapping economic sanctions on Russia, they probably never even imagined that there might be serious consequences for the United States. But now the Russian media is reporting that the Russian Ministry of Finance is getting ready to pull the trigger on a “de-dollarization” plan. For decades, virtually all oil and natural gas around the world has been bought and sold for U.S. dollars. As I will explain below, this has been a massive advantage for the U.S. economy. In recent years, there have been rumblings by nations such as Russia and China about the need to change to a new system, but nobody has really had a big reason to upset the status quo. However, that has now changed. The struggle over Ukraine has caused Russia to completely reevaluate the financial relationship that it has with the United States. If it starts trading a lot of oil and natural gas for currencies other than the U.S. dollar, that will be a massive blow for the petrodollar, and it could end up dramatically changing the global economic landscape.

As many as 30 homes destroyed in Carlsbad fire
A wind-driven brush fire tore through Carlsbad Wednesday, burning dozens of homes, downing power lines and forcing evacuations of thousands of residents, students and tourists at the Legoland amusement park.
The blaze broke out for unknown reasons shortly after 10:30 a.m. near Poinsettia Lane and Alicante Road, just east of El Camino Real. Winds quickly pushed the flames west toward neighborhoods and some high-tech businesses.
Homes were burning by 12:30 p.m., and reports from the scene also indicated that flames damaged Aviara Community Park.
By mid-afternoon, according to Cal Fire, the flames had spread over at least 250 acres and destroyed as many as 30 homes, apparently off Pointsettia Lane.

Partially Parched: Half of US Is In Drought
Half of the United States is experiencing drought, according to the latest numbers from the U.S. National Drought Monitor.
The drought is deepest in California and the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles, according to the latest drought map, released May 8. Most of California is in extreme or exceptional drought, and triple-digit heat was returning to Texas and Oklahoma, according to Mark Svoboda of the National Drought Mitigation Center, who penned a report on recent drought conditions.
“This is not the recipe for recovery as the calendar pushes toward summer,” Svoboda wrote of the heat in the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles. “What winter wheat wasn’t damaged or killed off by recent hard freezes was left to bear the brunt of the heat and dryness this week, with little in the way of relief on the horizon.”

Two hottest years ever: 2014 will set new world temperature record – and 2015 will break it
There is good reason to assume the approaching 2014 El Niño will be the strongest in years: both dynamical and statistical model calculations are speeding up – and a +7 degrees Celsius warming Kelvin wave is closing in on the east Pacific Ocean surface.
The second half of 2014 may bring Pacific temperature anomalies of more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, lifting global average temperatures – and increasing the net likelihood of extreme weather events across the globe. The 2014 average temperatures will quite likely be sufficiently lifted above the global temperature trend to create a new global temperature record – and delayed oceanic and atmospheric effects will likely increase that warming over much of 2015, thereby creating two subsequent ‘hottest years on record’.

Scientists May Have Finally Pinpointed What’s Killing All The Honeybees
Colony collapse disorder was first widely reported in America in 2006. Since then, a complex web of factors has been attributed to the mass honeybee die-offs, including everything from disease, parasites, and poor nutrition to the stress of being trucked around the country each year to pollinate different orchards.
Many scientists have theorized that a combination of these factors with exposure to pesticides could be causing the CCD phenomenon.
In contrast, the new study found that long-term exposure to small amounts of neonicotinoids wasn’t compromising the bees’ immune resistance to pathogens. The hives had just as many infections when they weren’t exposed to pesticides. This suggests that “neonicotinoids are causing some other kind of biological mechanism in bees that in turn leads to CCD,” scientists said.

Let’s say for example they find this issue and the farmers stop using pesticides. Now the insects come back. They will end up in the same situation they were in prior to using them and the insects will destroy the food. Either way the food is gone. It’s a vicious cycle that seems to have no end in sight.
