Headline: Israeli PM Netanyahu considering Putin’s offer to host Palestine talks in Moscow – statement
Benjamin Netanyahu is considering Russia’s offer to host Israeli-Palestinian talks in Moscow, a statement from the Israeli PM’s press service said. “[Netanyahu] presented Israel’s position whereby he is always ready to meet [Abbas] without preconditions and is therefore considering the Russian president’s proposal and the timing for a possible meeting,” the statement reads, as cited by Reuters news agency. The statement came after Netanyahu held talks with Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Envoy to the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov. If agreed upon, the talks would be the first between the two leaders in several years, amid the ongoing rift in the region. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there is currently no agreement regarding the talks. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accepted an offer to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow, though the exact date of the meeting is yet to be determined, Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow Abdel Hafiz Nofal told RIA Novosti on Monday. “There is an agreement in principle to meet in Moscow, however, there are still some points that need to be settled. There is no information available about the timing of the meeting,” the ambassador said. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said that he doubts Netanyahu is ready to fulfill the conditions needed for the talks to take place. Israel must stop building settlements in the West Bank, as well as release a number of Palestinian detainees, he said. “In this framework we do not oppose holding the meeting […] between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Benjamin Netanyahu under the aegis of Russia. But it seems to us that Netanyahu is not currently ready for such a step,” al-Maliki said, according to Al Ayam newspaper, as cited by Sputnik.

Headline: ‘ISIS kilometers away from Israel’s northern border’
The jihadi organizations that have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group have allegedly launched joint operations recently mere kilometers from Israel’s border on the southern Golan Heights. A new video released by Islamic State media shows the ISIS-affiliated coalition advancing on the Yarmouk Valley region located in the triple border junction between Israel’s Golan Heights, Jordan and Syria, Channel 2 reported Sunday night. According to the report, the video shows the militants fighting under the banner of ISIS advancing on Syrian rebel positions in the volatile Daraa province where Syrian military troops have fought with opposition forces throughout the Syrian civil war. By confiscating heavy artillery weaponry, including tanks, Islamic State has allegedly sought to strengthen its influence in the region adjacent to Israel’s northern border. There have also been multiple previous reports of ISIS using chemical weapons in the embattled region.

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline: Fighting in Yemen oil region kills 26
At least 15 pro-government Yemeni soldiers were killed in rebel attacks in the north and in a suspected extremist bombing in Aden on Sunday, military and security sources said. Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies launched twin attacks to try to retake the port of Midi in the northern province of Hajja, after loyalists had captured it, military sources said. Also on Sunday, in Yemen’s main southern city of Aden, a roadside bomb killed four soldiers and wounded one at a checkpoint in the Sheikh Othman district, a security official said. Meanwhile, at least 26 fighters were killed in clashes on Monday between pro-government troops and rebels over control of an oil-rich region east of the Yemeni capital, military sources said. Pro-government forces launched a military operation today to retake Sarwah,” a loyalist military source said of the only part of Marib province still held by the militia who have controlled nearby Sanaa since September 2014. Clashes and air raids by the Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government “killed 16 rebels and left dozens wounded”, the source said. Ten pro-government soldiers were killed and 12 wounded in the fighting, he added.

Syria Headline: Multiple bomb blasts in Syrian cities kill at least 43
A string of bombings, including a suicide attack claimed by the Islamic State group, struck in and around several Syrian cities on Monday, killing at least 43 people, mainly in government-controlled areas. The SANA news agency reported blasts around the coastal city of Tartus, Homs, Damascus, and Hasakeh. The attacks were timed closely together, but authorities have not determined whether they were linked. The IS group claimed responsibility for the blast in Hasakeh.
Attackers detonated two bombs along the international coastal highway to the government stronghold of Tartus, SANA said, killing 35. A car bomb at the Arzoneh bridge was followed by a suicide bomber, who targeted a crowd that was gathering. The city, a stronghold of support for President Bashar Assad, is home to a major Russian naval base. The Observatory said the twin blasts killed 35 people, including an army colonel, and wounded dozens more.
The governor of Homs province said a car bomb struck a military checkpoint in the provincial capital, killing three soldiers and a civilian, and wounding 10 others.
One of Monday’s attacks took place in the heavily guarded suburb of Sabbourah, marking a major security breach. SANA said the attack killed one person, while the opposition-run Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said three people were killed.
An Islamic State attacker on a motorcycle blew himself up in the northeastern city of Hasakeh, killing eight, SANA said.

Syria Headline: Syrian Army recaptures rebel-held academies, cuts off militant supply route
The Syrian Army has regained control over three military academies in Aleppo, cutting off the supply route used by militants in the eastern part of the city. RT’s Lizzie Phelan talked to the soldiers who’ve been taking the city back, stone by stone. “Sheikh Said neighborhood is the main gate to East Aleppo that is under the control of terrorists,” a soldier told RT. The army, backed by aerial and artillery attacks, managed to recapture the strategic complex comprising of three military academies in the Ramosa district, on Aleppo’s southwestern outskirts, on Sunday. The battle was a tough one, the soldiers said. “[The militants] were using TOW, 22mm anti-air craft guns, mortars, rocket launchers, tanks and hell canons,” another soldier said. The complex had been held by rebels – mainly consisting of Jaish Al-Fateh militants, previously known as Al-Nusra Front – since early August, when they broke through the pro-government army lines. Over the past few weeks, the army has engage in heavy fighting to retake the area, as it held the key to Aleppo’s east. By retaking the academies, the army has technically cut the militants’ supply route.

Kurdish Headline: Turkey attacks Syrian Kurdish protesters near Kobane, two killed and 97 injured
At least two civilians were killed and 97 more were injured after Turkey started to shoot gas grenades and bullets against Syrian Kurdish protestors near Kobane that resisted Turkish attempts to build a barrier wall on the border. People of Kobane on Sunday buried those killed by Turkish fire, amid condemnation to Turkey’s intervention in Syria and their attempt to build a barrier wall on the borderline. Bazan Ehmed (17) and Ehmed Hesen (16), two victims of the Turkish security forces, were buried in Kobane where hundreds of people gathered to show support to their families. In the meantime, protests continued on Sunday, but no civilians were injured. Turkey says the aim of the wall is to secure the Turkish border after terrorist attacks hit Turkey, but Kurds reject this as an excuse to create obstacles for the Kurds to create an autonomous region in Syria.

Headline: After Jarablus, Turkish army entering Syria’s Aleppo
After capturing the Syrian border city of Jarablus, Turkish army forces continued their advance and entered Aleppo province, military sources reported on Sunday. “At least 20 Turkish tanks and five armoured vehicles, accompanied by a large number of Turkish troops, have arrived in the northern countryside of Aleppo province,” spokesman for the Shamiya Front rebel group Saleh al-Zein told ARA News. Also, hundreds of rebels from the Turkey-backed Sultan Murad Brigade and other Turkmen rebel factions accompanied the Turkish army in the advance towards Aleppo. “The Turkish forces and allies have taken over al-Rai town north of Aleppo, turning the town into a military zone after claiming to have expelled ISIS militants from the area,” rebel spokesman al-Zein told ARA News. “However, there has been no fight between the Turkish forces and ISIS in al-Rae, which shows that ISIS has actually handed the town over to Turkey,” he added. This comes just one day after the Turkish government sent military reinforcements to the Syrian northern city of Jarablus, that’s been taken by the Turkish forces and allied rebels of the Euphrates Shield Brigades on August 24 without resistance from ISIS.

Headline: Another district in eastern Afghanistan falls to the Taliban
Twin bomb blasts in the Afghan capital Kabul have killed at least 24 people and injured 91 others near the defence ministry, officials say. The first bomb was detonated remotely while the second was triggered by a suicide bomber, local media reported. An army general and two senior police officers are among the dead, a ministry of defence spokesperson told the BBC. The Taliban, who have carried out frequent attacks in Kabul, claimed the blasts. Deputy defence ministry spokesman Mohammad Radmanish told the Associated Press news agency that the suicide attacker struck as security forces gathered near the ministry to deal with the first blast. As night fell, another loud explosion was heard in Kabul, followed by gunfire. There was no immediate word on the cause of the blast or details of any casualties. Meanwhile, Taliban and Afghan officials confirmed that the jihadist group overran the district of Omna in the eastern province of Paktika after Afghan forces retreated earlier today. The district is the second in the east to fall to the Taliban in the past week as the group continues to press operations in all areas of the country.

Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)
Headline: Brazil: Police use tear gas at anti-Temer protest
Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Brazil to demonstrate against the government. Organisers said 50,000 people – a record number – turned out in Sao Paulo alone for a seventh day of protests against the new President Michel Temer. Mr Temer took office after Dilma Rousseff was removed from the presidency in an impeachment trial. The rally began peacefully but police used tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon as clashes broke out at the end. They said they had been forced to take the measures to avoid vandalism. Several people were reportedly injured including a BBC journalist. Some protesters responded by throwing bottles and stones at riot police, and building and setting fire to barricades. Mr Temer said the protests were “small groups, not popular movements of any size”. Brazil’s Senate voted to remove Dilma Rousseff from office last week, for manipulating government accounts to hide a shortfall in the government’s budget. It put an end to the 13 years in power of her left-wing Workers’ Party. Ms Rousseff had denied the charges.

Headline: Islamic State’s Sahara branch claims first attack in Burkina Faso
Islamic State forces loyal to Adnan Abu Walid al Sahrawi, the emir of the Islamic State’s Sahara branch, claimed an attack in Burkina Faso yesterday according to Mauritanian news agency Al Akhbar. The claim, which has not yet been confirmed in a statement from the Islamic State, marks the first time this fledgling branch has claimed an attack in its one year of existence. Al Akhbar, which has previously published statements from Sahrawi and other Saharan-based jihadists, reports that Sahrawi sent a message claiming that an attack on Sept. 2 in Burkina Faso, near the borders with Niger, was the work of his men. The assault, which occurred on a Burkinabe gendarmerie post in Markoye, left a border agent and a civilian dead. If confirmed, this would mark the first operation claimed by the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS). However, the group has issued threats to North African states in the past. In May, Sahrawi sent an audio statement to Al Jazeera in which he threatened “attacks on the United Nations mission in Western Sahara, Western tourists in Morocco, the headquarters of Moroccan security, and on foreign companies,” according to the report.

Headline: Philippine Bomb Attack Tests Fight Against Muslim Rebels
An apparent terrorist attack in Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown, which is normally known for its public safety, will escalate the government’s battle with violent Muslim rebels and could change the course of decades of civil conflict. Terrorist group Abu Sayyaf has taken credit for a bombing late Friday at a night market in Davao that killed 14 people and injured 70, according to Philippine news reports. Some reports say the group retracted its statement. The bombing is the first major retaliation after Duterte – known as a crime fighter unafraid of using extrajudicial violence — took office June 30 and began strikes against Abu Sayyaf in its stronghold near the southern island Mindanao. Those attacks killed 12 troops and 22 rebels last month. The same group is known for kidnapping foreigners, including a Canadian national who was beheaded in April.

Around 100 people have been injured when Indian troops fired tear gas and shotgun pellets to break up a massive protest in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. Violent clashes broke out between the troops and thousands of stone-pelting protesters in Shopian district in southern Kashmir on Sunday. The angry protesters also torched a government office in the district, which is located 70 kilometers (45 miles) south of Srinagar, the main city in the disputed valley. The latest rally came in response to a call from separatist groups challenging India’s rule over the Muslim-majority region.

Headline: Putin’s Gambit in Ukraine: Strategic Implications
Headline: How Syria, Ukraine crises tie in with US elections
Vladimir Putin has mobilized military forces in Crimea and on Ukraine’s northern and eastern borders. He has raised the level of fighting in eastern Ukraine to levels not seen in over a year and then arranged a ceasefire. He has moved advanced air defense systems into Crimea and is raising new Russian divisions near Ukraine. Analysts are baffled. Some note that this unprecedented mobilization makes little sense if Putin does not mean to fight Ukraine soon. Others dismiss it as the normal activities of a great power’s military. Neither view is correct. There is nothing normal about this mobilization, but neither does Putin desire a war with Ukraine. He intends, rather, to use this mobilization and escalation of conflict to create leverage to weaken EU sanctions, destabilize the Ukrainian government, undermine NATO, and present the next American president with a series of faits accomplis. He is likely to succeed in all these aims.

Headline: North Korea ‘fires three ballistic missiles into sea’
North Korea has fired three ballistic missiles into the waters off its east coast, say South Korean officials. The missiles were launched from the Hwangju region, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Monday, according to the Yonhap news agency. There was no information on the types of missile fired or how far they flew. North Korea is barred from testing nuclear or ballistic missile technology, but recent months have seen it carry out a string of missile tests. It last fired a ballistic missile just two weeks ago from a submarine off its eastern coast, as South Korea and the US began annual military drills which routinely anger the North. On that occasion the KN-11 rocket that was fired flew for about 500km (300 miles) before falling into the Sea of Japan. This latest test takes place as world leaders meet at the annual G20 economic summit, being hosted for the first time in China.
