An Alabama school district has been accused of allowing prayers that invoke the name of Jesus during high school football games, according to a complaint filed by a national atheist organization. The Freedom From Religion Foundation said the Lauderdale County school district has violated the First Amendment by allowing the prayers at Brooks High School. School superintendent Bill Valentine confirmed to Fox News that he had received the complaint. “We’ve referred that complaint to our attorney and we are in the process of reviewing it,” he said. The complaint was lodged by a single resident who objected to the student-led prayer before high school football games played on school property. The Times Daily newspaper identified the complainant as Jeremy Green. In an email to the newspaper, Green said he was taking a stand for the so-called “separation of church and state in an effort to protect the constitutional rights of the non-religious.”
Before I say anything about what Jeremy Green has done let us look at what Jesus say in Matthew 12:30. “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” Knowing that a spiritual ware is being waged it is clear who’s side Jeremy Green is on. It is very clear that anyone who is not with Jesus is being used by Satan. There are many people just like Jeremy who are fighting against Christ but we know the outcome of this war. Unless Jeremy turns to Christ for salvation he will be on the people who will according to Christ be scattered. This is the worse possible thing that can happen to Jeremy because without Jesus hell will be his eternal home. I know when people read news like this they want to attack Jeremy and wish he would go to hell, but Christ has something different to say in 2 Peter 3:9. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” What is the real on fire Christian called to do? Hate or love? Knowing what Jesus has said we need to pray for Jeremy and people like him and ask that some how, Jesus open his heart to Christ before it is to late and Jeremy descends into the lake of fire. Christ loves the man but hates the sin.
