“A Texas lake that turned blood-red this summer may not be a sign of the End Times, but probably is the end of a popular fishing and recreation spot. A drought has left the OC Fisher Reservoir in San Angelo State Park in West Texas almost entirely dry. The water that is left is stagnant, full of dead fish — and a deep, opaque red. The color has some apocalypse believers suggesting that OC Fisher is an early sign of the end of the world, but Texas Parks and Wildlife Inland Fisheries officials say the bloody look is the result of Chromatiaceae bacteria, which thrive in oxygen-deprived water. "It's just heartbreaking," said Charles Cruz, a fish and wildlife technician with Texas Parks and Wildlife in San Angelo, Tex.”

“The government of President Felipe Calderon blames the poverty numbers on the global financial crisis that sent Mexico into recession in 2009 and the worldwide hike in food prices.” Mexico received more bad economic news Friday with a report that shows poverty is steadily on the rise. The number of Mexicans living in poverty grew to 52 million in 2010, up by more than 3 million people from two years earlier, the report says. That means 46.2% of the population lives in poverty.

Prophecy Sign: Signs of the coming Psalm 83 war.

Palestinian Authority terrorists are reverting to the first Intifada tactic of burning down Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria. Arabs have set more than 20 fires in Jewish communities, mostly outposts, the past several weeks, which have forced the evacuation of residents. Police investigations have determined that the blazes were intentional, and tracks have led them Arab villages nearby the Jewish communities. Six Arab suspects have been arrested. In the first Intifada in the late 1980s, Arabs frequently set fires, often on the Sabbath. Some Israeli Arabs profited by their being employed by the Jewish National Fund.

Relatives or friends of the same Arabs, who lived in an Arab village a few hundred feet from the kibbutz and beyond the 1949 borders, set the reserve on fire, and Arabs from other villages used the same method in dozens of other incidents. The renewed arson intifada causes more widespread damage than the usual life-endangering rock-throwing, particularly in the summer when forests are dry and afternoon winds quickly whip up a small fire into an inferno. It, too, can put lives in danger. An IDF Samaria commander termed the arsons as a “new weapon” but it in fact proved to be successful 20 years ago until the 'trend' in Arab violence gave way to suicide bombings.”

Prophecy Sign: Mark 13:8 birth pains signs of the coming Psalm 83 war between Israel and her bordering nations.

Air Force action comes in response to Kassam rocket fired at southern Israel, moderately injuring a woman in her fifties. The IDF spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that the air force attacked several targets in Gaza overnight, including a smuggling tunnel in the southern Strip and a terrorist center in the north. No information was been given on possible casualties, but the statement confirmed that the planes returned to their bases safely and that the hits were on target. The attack was in response to a Kassam rocket fired at southern Israel from Gaza on Monday night.

“Israeli and Lebanese soldiers engaged in a brief gun battle along Israel's northern border on Monday. An Israeli border patrol came under fire from a Lebanese soldier while conducting a routine operation. The Israelis returned fire, wounding the soldier. There were no Israeli casualties. Lebanese media claimed that the Israeli patrol had crossed the border into Lebanon, thus justifying the attack. But Israel insisted its troops were on the Israeli side of the internationally-recognized border when they were fired upon. This would not be the first time the Lebanese army has attacked an Israeli border patrol unprovoked. In 2010, a Lebanese army sniper shot and killed an Israeli commander as his troops worked to prune a tree that was disrupting the Israel's electronic border fence. Israel's retaliatory fired killed two Lebanese soldiers. In that incident, too, the Lebanese claimed the Israelis had crossed the border line. But UN officials later confirmed that the Israelis had been operating on their side of the so-called "Blue Line." Lebanon refused to apologize. Lebanon does not recognize the Blue Line as the international border, even though the UN does. Lebanon insists that the Blue Line puts some Lebanese territory inside Israel.”

Palestinian official Yasser Abed Rabbo said leaders hope to attract millions, and the protest will be the first of a prolonged effort. He said the campaign would be called "Palestine 194," since the Palestinians hope to become the 194th member of the United Nations.”

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel has been working with the United States to develop a new framework to restart peace negotiations with the Palestinians, according to reports. News agencies cited an unnamed Israeli government official as saying Tuesday that there have been efforts over the past few weeks to formulate the new framework, which will hew closely to the call in May by President Obama for an agreement using the 1967 lines as a basis for negotiations, with land swaps. The push for renewed talks is an attempt to persuade Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas from bringing the issue of Palestinian statehood recognition to a vote at the United Nations in September. On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that his government had been working with the Obama administration and other members of the Mideast Quartet — the United States, United Nations, Russia and the European Union — on a working document for renewed peace talks and that the coordination with Washington was better than expected, The Jerusalem Post reported.

"It's a windfall for me, a catastrophe for others," said Bob Polgar, owner of Tip Top Auto Body in Garden City, N.Y., on Long Island. The shop got 100 calls Monday night. On a normal day, it gets 15 calls, Polgar said. Most car owners are reporting busted windshields and dents on hoods and roofs. "They were the size of tennis balls," said Sandy White. "I had to check if any of my windows were broken."

 “A crow found in Harris Township has become the fourth bird in Centre County to test positive for the West Nile virus, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. Bert Lavan, of the county Planning and Community Development Office, which oversees the county’s West Nile program, confirmed that the crow was collected in Harris Township, where a mosquito sample earlier tested positive for the virus. Centre County remains the only county in the state where birds have tested positive for West Nile. Two mosquito samples also have tested positive, which Lavan said is a better indication that the virus is present locally. The positive samples have come from College and Harris townships and State College borough.”

Prophecy Sign: Rev. chapter 16 and chapter 7 deal with the intense heat, lack of water, and famines.

"The atmosphere continues to "cook the books" in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and the string of triple-digit heat may last for the next couple of weeks. As of Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2011, Dallas has had 32 days in a row with high temperatures of 100 degrees or higher. The last time it failed to reach triple-digit figures was July 1. This weekend in the Big D, the current heat wave moved into number two on the all-time list for number of days in a row of 100-degree temperatures. The old number two on the list was 29 days in a row spanning July 6 through Aug. 3, 1998. The longest stretch of days for 100-degree temperatures in Dallas was 42 set during the blistering summer of 1980, spanning June 23 through Aug. 3, 1980. According to Long Range Expert Meteorologist Paul Pastelok, "The current string of 100-degree days will probably last into the middle of August."
