Abbas to push UN resolution on Trump peace plan: officials

President Mahmud Abbas will travel to the United Nations next week to push for a Security Council resolution condemning US President Donald Trump’s peace proposals, Palestinian officials said Wednesday. The resolution will almost certainly be vetoed by the United States. “The draft resolution that will be voted on in the Security Council will include the rejection of the Trump-Netanyahu deal,” Saleh Rafat, a member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, told AFP, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He called Trump’s plan, which Netanyahu enthusiastically supports, “the opposite of the UN Security Council resolutions on the Palestinian conflict.” If vetoed at the Security Council, the issue will be taken to the UN General Assembly, Rafat added.

Europe Slaps Israel With a Wet Noodle

Quarter of EU states refuse to condemn Israel, so new foreign policy chief issues his own angry statement. Earlier this week, Borrell urgently convened the EU to vote on a resolution condemning Trump’s plan and Israel’s intention to use it as a green light to annex large swaths of the so-called “West Bank.” But Borrell was thwarted.  Such foreign policy decisions and statements require the full consensus of all 27 EU member states. And guess what? Not all 27 European nations seem to have a problem with Trump’s plan, or perhaps even with Israel finally exercising sovereignty over its biblical heartland. According to Israeli media, six countries voted against the resolution. They were Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and two unnamed states. No doubt incensed, Borrell decided to release the statement under his own name. “We are especially concerned by statements on the prospect of annexation of the Jordan Valley and other parts of the West Bank,” said Borrell said, despite the fact that officially he was speaking only for himself. “Steps towards annexation, if implemented, could not pass unchallenged,” Borrell went on to threaten in what Israel Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lior Haiat called a “regrettable and odd” diplomatic assault on the Jewish state.

Khamenei calls Palestinians to jihad, says peace plan will die sooner than Trump

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Palestinians to wage jihad against Israel and said the Trump peace plan will die even sooner than President Donald Trump. He made his remarks Wednesday in a Tehran speech marking the 41st anniversary of the Iranian Revolution. He also called on Palestinians to wage jihad against the U.S. Khamenei said ‘The Americans are taking comfort in the belief that choosing a big name for the plot against the Palestinian nation will help it to succeed.” But that the “foolish and evil” scheme “has been working to their own detriment from the very beginning,” Iran’s PressTV reported. He said that the plan “will definitely end in failure.” “The Americans have made a deal with the Zionists over something that is not theirs [to give away in the first place]. Palestine belongs to Palestinians, and making decisions concerning it is exclusive to them,” he said.

Three rockets fired at southern Israel

IDF strikes Hamas targets in Gaza in response to Netivot rockets

Red Color sirens were sounded on Tuesday night, shortly after midnight, in Netivot and in other communities near the Gaza border. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed that three rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israeli territory. The rockets exploded in open areas. There were no reports of damages, but two people suffered light injuries after falling while making their way to a protected space. They were treated at the scene. Over the last week, there has been an uptick in the number of rocket and incendiary balloon attacks from Gaza on southern Israel. On Tuesday evening, incendiary balloons were found near Kibbutz Dvir, in Lehavim, in the Har Hevron Regional Council, and in Kibbutz Nir-Am.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told municipal leaders in the Gaza area that Israel could launch extensive military operations in the Palestinian enclave before the upcoming Knesset elections if the launching of rockets and airborne explosive devices continues, Channel 13 reports. Netanyahu told the leaders during a meeting today that while Israel is making significant efforts to ensure calm in the area, the military was ready for an operation in Gaza if needed, according to the network. The reported comments come after a week of near-daily rocket and mortar attacks from Gaza and dozens of balloon-borne explosive devices being launched from the Hamas-ruled Strip toward southern Israel.

Leaders of the councils representing Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley rallied in front of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office in Jerusalem on Tuesday, in protest over the prime minister’s reluctance to apply swift sovereignty over settlements in Judea and Samaria. “I call on Netanyahu to fulfill his promise to announce the application of sovereignty. He has political support, he has support inside the party,” Jordan Valley Regional Council leader David Elhani said. According to Samaria Council leader Yossi Dagan, the U.S. handed Israel the opportunity to annex the settlements and then took it away. “Officials in the U.S. took our beloved Prime Minister, elevated him to the top of the Empire State Building – [he stood] with the US president [and promised to apply] sovereignty – then they try to throw our Prime Minister all the way down,” Dagan told Arutz Sheva.

Israeli forces demolish illegal settler buildings, arrest rioters

Israeli Civil Administration, along with Border Police and IDF forces have begun demolishing several structures in Shlomo Hill near Kokhav HaShahar in the West Bank on Wednesday morning, according to TPS. Two illegal structures were demolished as dozens of settlers began rioting in the area to stop the security forces from demolishing the structures. Three of the rioters have been arrested for entering a closed military area and assaulting the security forces.

Seventeen-year-old Mohammad Salman Toameh Al-Hadad was shot in the chest with live fire and died after being evacuated to the city hospital, according to the ministry. According to witnesses, Al-Hadad was wounded during clashes in the neighborhood of Bab al-Zawiyah. Troops fired both live fire and rubber bullets, witnesses said. The Israeli army said in a statement that Al-Hadad was shot during “a violent riot in the city of Hebron,” after he had thrown Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers. “For several days there have been violent disturbances in the city of Hebron next to the Jewish area with the participation of dozens of Palestinians who are throwing stones, burning tires and throwing firebombs at IDF troops and the security forces,” the military said in a statement.

ISIL steps up attacks in Syria and Iraq, officials say

U.S. defense and intelligence officials say the special forces operation that killed former Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria last October has done little to hinder the terror group. Instead, the Defense Intelligence Agency warns the organization’s command and control structure, as well as many of its clandestine networks remain intact, and recent turmoil in the region due to Turkey’s incursion into northeastern Syria has played to its advantage. “ISIS exploited the Turkish incursion and subsequent drawdown of U.S. troops to reconstitute capabilities and resources within Syria and strengthen its ability to plan attacks abroad,” according to Defense Department Principal Inspector General Glenn Fine in a new report, using an acronym for the terror group. And should the U.S. be forced to pull troops from Iraq following protests there, “ISIS would likely resurge,” Fine added, citing additional DIA analysis.     The findings come less than a week after U.S. defense officials revealed the true identity of Baghdadi’s replacement, cautioning he appears to have IS positioned to eventually make its presence felt in the region, and perhaps on the world stage.

Anti-government demonstrators faced off against followers of influential cleric Moqtada Sadr in protest squares across Iraq Tuesday, a day after one demonstrator was killed in a clash between the two sides. Sadr, an enigmatic militiaman-turned-politician, backed the anti-government rallies when they erupted in October but has split with other demonstrators over the nomination of Mohammad Allawi as prime minister. The cleric endorsed Allawi while other protesters rejected him, charging he is too close to the ruling elite they have been demonstrating against for four months. In the southern city of Diwaniyah on Tuesday, the rift escalated into a fistfight between young anti-regime demonstrators and Sadr backers, who are recognisable by their signature blue head caps, an AFP correspondent said. Police intervened to separate the two camps but the young protesters broke into chants against Sadr, Iraqi authorities as well as Iran, accused by demonstrators of backing the government’s crackdown against them.

  Turkey demands Syrian army exit rebel areas, threatens force

Turkey’s president threatened Wednesday to use force against Syrian government forces if they don’t pull back to an earlier cease-fire line in northern Syria by the end of the month. Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s remarks to members of his ruling party followed rare direct clashes Monday between Turkish and Syrian troops inside Syria, which killed several Turkish and Syrian personnel. Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces have been advancing deeper into the northwestern province of Idlib, the country’s last rebel stronghold, since December. Turkey – a strong backer of some of the rebels – has a dozen military observation posts in Idlib province, which borders Turkey. “If the (Assad) regime does not retreat to areas behind the observations posts, Turkey will be forced to take matters into its own hands,” Erdogan said. He said two of the Turkish observation posts are now behind Syrian lines.

On February 4, 2020, the United States on Tuesday threw its support behind NATO ally Turkey over its reprisals against the Syrian army following regime shelling. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called the mortar attack on Turkish posts in Syria’s Idlib province “a grave escalation” and said US officials “fully support Turkey’s justified self-defense actions in response.” Meanwhile on the 5^th, The United States has halted a secretive military intelligence cooperation program with Turkey that for years helped Ankara target Kurdish PKK militants, four U.S. officials say. The U.S. decision to indefinitely suspend the program, which has not been previously reported, was made in response to Turkey’s cross-border military incursion into Syria in October, the U.S. officials said, revealing the extent of the damage to ties between the NATO allies from the incident. The U.S. officials, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the United States late last year stopped flying the intelligence collection missions that targeted the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which both the United States and Turkey classify as terrorists.

Military Talks to End Libya Fighting Underway

U.N.-sponsored military and security talks aimed at achieving a lasting cease-fire in Libya are underway in Geneva. The negotiations are held as Libya’s warring parties continue to violate a temporary truce agreed to in mid-January. Five high-ranking officers appointed by the Government of National Accord in Libya and five other high-ranking military officers appointed by rebel commander Khalifa Haftar are in attendance. This is the first time ever that high-ranking officers from both sides are getting together to talk peace. U.N. Libya envoy Ghassan Salame says both sides agree on the necessity to turn the truce into a permanent cease-fire. But how they will achieve that, he says, is very much an open question. “That is why these talks in Geneva are meant to listen carefully to the position of the two sides on what are the conditions for them to accept this translation of the truce into a permanent and lasting cease-fire,” Salame said.

Already, a leading microbiologist has warned that the city could “become another Wuhan.” Yet many in Hong Kong feel that the government has not done enough to prevent an outbreak in the city. Worse, they feel that officials have been deferring to Beijing, reluctant to take aggressive public health measures for fear of treading on politically sensitive ground. For example, when travel restrictions were announced, officials took care to note that it was China that was suspending visas for travel to Hong Kong, rather than the city rejecting mainland travelers. Now, a singular demand is uniting Hong Kong’s polarized factions after months of divisive protests: the complete closure of the city’s border with mainland China to stem the tide of visitors from the epidemic’s epicenter. As a special autonomous region of China, Hong Kong is administratively separate from Beijing and operates a formal border with the mainland.

The bill is aimed at merging the country’s 42 separate pension schemes into a points-based “universal” system. The committee will also be faced with 22,000 amendments to the law lodged last week, 19,000 of them submitted by the hard-left La France Insoumise party, in an attempt to delay the legislation.

Eight civilians dead, others missing in Houthi missile attack in Yemen’s Marib

On Tuesday, Houthi-led forces reportedly launch a missile attack on a military attack used by Saudi-backed forces in central Yemen, damaging ammunition storage facilities. Houthi militias forces supported by local Popular Committees militias brought down a Saudi-led coalition UAV over the western coastal province of al-Hudaydah, Al-Masirah, a TV channel affiliated with the militia group, has reported, citing a military source. The drone was reportedly shot down in the airspace above the mountainous area in the district of al-Tahita, some 230 km west of the capital of Sana’a, on Wednesday afternoon. No further details were made available about the incident, and the Saudi-led coalition to has yet to comment on the veracity of the report. Also Wednesday, a Houthi source said that multiple Saudi-led coalition mercenaries were killed and their munitions destroyed during an offensive against Houthi-held territories in another part of the province.

As China struggles to contain the deadly new coronavirus, it’s becoming increasingly evident that the disruption to its economy will spill over to the rest of the world. Provinces accounting for almost 69% of Chinese GDP will remain closed for more than an extra week after the annual Lunar New Year holiday, shutting factories, shops and restaurants, leaving ships trapped at port, and slamming household spending. Travel restrictions limit the movement of more than 48 million people, with the crucial manufacturing and logistics hub of Wuhan—the epicenter of the virus—most impacted. Hundreds of major manufacturers have had their links to the global supply chain severed. Robert Bosch GmbH, the world’s largest car-parts maker, had to shutter two factories employing a total of 800 people in Wuhan. Other auto part manufacturers, including Honda Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., have also closed their facilities in Wuhan. And the disruption spreads from there. Key coastal exporting provinces are on an extended break and companies across the nation are taking precautions to stem the virus’s spread. China is the largest exporter of intermediate manufactured goods that can be resold between industries or used to produce other things, so its problems quickly reverberate through global supply chains. Indeed, global reliance on those products doubled to 20% from 2005 to 2015.

Coronavirus could cause collapse of world’s supply chains

The great unknowable about the impact of the coronavirus for businesses, investors and economic policymakers is just how much damage it will inflict on the global economy. That’s why the markets are gyrating, with the US stockmarket tumbling on Friday and then recovering half those losses on Monday. Oil prices have fallen more than 20 per cent since the outbreak, copper is down about 13 per cent, iron ore prices have fallen about $US10 a tonne and soy beans, which were supposed to benefit from the Phase One trade deal between the US and China, have fallen about 8 per cent. It is obvious that China’s economy will be hard hit by the virus. The epicentre of the crisis, Wuhan and Hubei Province, are key manufacturing, transport and logistics hubs. More than 50 million people in the province are now in lockdown in the world’s largest-ever quarantine. With the virus still spreading rapidly throughout China – almost all of the 17,000-plus confirmed cases so far are within China, with only a relative handful elsewhere – its industries and consumers are going to be adversely impacted, with the major uncertainties being the related questions of severity and duration. At an economic level, the visible response of the Chinese authorities has so far been measured, with an injection of the equivalent of $US173 billion ($258 billion) of liquidity into their financial markets on Monday. That failed, however, to stop their stock market falling about 8 per cent, its steepest one-day fall since 2015.

Gov’t unveils new electronic tags for people under Wuhan coronavirus home quarantine

The Hong Kong government has announced it has 500 electronic monitoring tags ready to distribute to Hong Kong people placed under home quarantine upon returning to the SAR after having spent time in Hubei province, the epicenter of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The government’s chief information officer, Victor Lam, unveiled the e-tag at a press briefing this afternoon, saying that any Hong Kong residents who have been to Hubei in the past 14 days must undergo home quarantine of 14 days, a measure the new electronic bracelets are meant to ensure. The tag is paired to a person’s smartphone — using Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE, technology — and is plugged into the mains at the wearer’s home. If the person wearing the tag unplugs the phone and leaves the quarantine zone with it, or if the distance between the tag and the phone exceeds 20 meters, an alert will be sent to the Department of Health and the police.

A U.S. archbishop says Pope Francis told a group of American bishops in Rome that civil unions for homosexual couples that give them access to public benefits are “acceptable,” as long as it’s clear such arrangements can never be considered marriage. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco told LifeSiteNews that during their January 27 ad limina visit, the pope said, in the words of the archbishop, that “civil unions between two people of the same sex can never be marriage.  As long as this is respected, civil unions that give access to government benefits can be acceptable.” However, to regard homosexual civil unions as acceptable contradicts Catholic teaching, notably reaffirmed in the 1986, 1992 and 2003 documents issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) under Cardinal Josef Ratzinger, now Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and approved by Pope Saint John Paul II.

Chinese Officials’ Statements Show Authorities Are Hiding Real Scale of Coronavirus Outbreak

As many experts question the veracity of China’s statistics for the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, Tencent over the weekend seems to have inadvertently released what is potentially the actual number of infections and deaths, which were astronomically higher than official figures. On late Saturday evening (Feb. 1), Tencent, on its webpage titled “Epidemic Situation Tracker”, showed confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (2019nCoV) in China as standing at 154,023, 10 times the official figure at the time. It listed the number of suspected cases as 79,808, four times the official figure. The number of cured cases was only 269, well below the official number that day of 300. Most ominously, the death toll listed was 24,589, vastly higher than the 300 officially listed that day. Moments later, Tencent updated the numbers to reflect the government’s “official” numbers that day. Netizens noticed that Tencent has on at least three occasions posted extremely high numbers, only to quickly lower them to government-approved statistics.

A Chinese baby born to a Wuhan coronavirus patient has been diagnosed with the deadly disease 30 hours after being delivered. Doctors in China are now fearing that the infection could be passed from mothers to their babies in the womb. The news came after experts claimed that the virus might also be spread by faeces. The infected child, whose gender has not been revealed, was born in Wuhan on Sunday. Its mother had been confirmed to have the coronavirus before going into labour. Medics gave the baby a test 30 hours later and the result turned out to be positive. The baby was then transferred to the Wuhan Children’s Hospital, which has been appointed by the government to treat all infected children. The three-day-old baby’s condition was stable and it was being closely monitored, the hospital announced through a post on its official social media account today. ‘This reminds us to pay attention to a potential new transmission route of the coronavirus – vertical transmission from mothers to babies,’ said Dr Zeng Lingkong, chief physician from the hospital’s Department of Neonatal Medicine.

The World Health Organization played down media reports on Wednesday of “breakthrough” drugs being discovered to treat people infected with the new coronavirus which is causing an epidemic in China and has spread to at least 20 other countries. A Chinese TV report said that a research team at Zhejiang University had found an effective drug for the virus, while Britain’s Sky News said researchers had made a “significant breakthrough” in developing a vaccine. Asked about the reports, WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic said: “There are no known effective therapeutics against this 2019-nCoV (virus).”

Novel coronavirus is already demonstrating an exceptional ability to mutate, according to Chinese scientists, which means that fighting it just got a whole lot more difficult. In a process described as “striking,” coronavirus is able to substantially alter itself on the fly, morphing into new forms as it passes from one person to another – including within the same family of people. Researchers investigating a cluster of infections identified in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong found that the genes of coronavirus undergo significant changes as the virus continues to spread. While all viruses are known to mutate, they typically do so “silently” or synonymously, meaning the changes have little effect on how the virus behaves. Coronavirus, however, adapts non-synonymously, altering its biological traits.

Tropical cyclone forming near Western Australia, severe impact likely

A tropical cyclone is forecast to develop from a tropical low off the northwest Kimberley coast in Western Australia on Thursday, February 6, 2020, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). As of Wednesday, February 5, the low has sustained winds near the center of 35 km/h (22 mph) with gusts to 85 km/h (53 mph), moving west at 14 km/h (9 mph). The agency warned that a severe cyclone impact is likely on Saturday, February 8. Once formed, the system will be named Damien. While southern WA is experiencing severe heat conditions this week, residents in the north particularly the Pilbara coast were advised to prepare for a tropical cyclone impact. “We will see this tropical low move off the Kimberley coast today and it is likely to reach tropical cyclone strength during Thursday morning,” said BOM. For the past four days, this slow-moving low has dumped nearly 200 mm (8 inches) of rain to several areas in the Kimberley. A flood watch remains in place for the rivers in the region’s north and west.

A senior advisor to Mahmoud Abbas recently urged Palestinians to get their “heads chopped off” instead of making peace with Israel. Mahmoud Habbash, a top “religious” advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a recent Friday sermon aired on Palestinian TV that any Arab or Muslim who works within the framework of President Donald Trump’s Mideast peace plan “will pay the price for treason.” Habbash is well known for inciting Palestinians to violence and this speech was no different, with fiery references to martyrdom and exhortations to die rather than acquiesce to a peace plan.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation said on Monday it rejects U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan. The 57-member organization, which held a summit in Jeddah to discuss the plan, said it “calls on all member states not to engage with this plan or to cooperate with the U.S. administration in implementing it in any form.”

Terrorist groups in Gaza on high alert, fear assassinations

Terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip have raised their alert level as they believe there is a high chance a round of fighting will break out with Israel in the coming days, according to Ynet. The head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist group’s military wing has decided to increase security measures in fear of possible assassination attempts by Israel. Officials in the terrorist group are changing their routine and staying mobile against the possibility that Israel could carry out a similar assassination to that of PIJ official Baha Abu al-Ata in November, which sparked a week-long escalation between Israel and PIJ.

 Jerusalem: Police Complaint Charges ‘World Council of Churches’ with International Espionage

The Judicial Forum for Zionist and Democratic Israel and the DMU Project, an organization that monitors the WCC’s actions in Israel, recently filed a complaint with the Jerusalem Police against the World Council of Churches (WCC) alleging that it has engaged in several illegal activities including injuring IDF soldiers and is acting against the State of Israel. The World Council of Churches is an international organization with over 500 million members and an advocate for the racist Boycott Divestment Sanctions movement. According to the complaint, the WCC has been running an illegal program in Israel. The complaint filed with the police claims that the organization has acted harm the State of Israel on the international level and even spy on it. According to the complaint, the program participants are being told to lie about the purpose of their arrival in Israel. The organization is not approved by the Israeli government and the activists are breaking the rules of entry into Israel, impersonating tourists or pilgrims and hiding the real reason for their arrival in Israel.

 Netanyahu: Uganda to open Jerusalem embassy, following US, Guatemala

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Uganda will open an embassy in Jerusalem. Israel will in turn open an embassy in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. Uganda follows the U.S. and Guatemala in opening an embassy in Israel’s capital. Earlier Sunday, Netanyahu and his wife Sara were welcomed by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his wife, Education Minister Janet Museveni, at the Entebbe Presidential Residence. Prime Minister Netanyahu wrote in the guestbook, “To President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet, Many thanks for your incomparable hospitality and friendship – to us and to the State of Israel. We are deeply moved and deeply grateful.” Netanyahu met with Museveni and the the two discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in a broad range of areas: Civilian, economic, health, water, energy, communications and agriculture. The prime minister has made improving ties with African nations a priority over the last few years.

Protesters outside US Embassy in Lebanon decry Trump plan

More than 200 Lebanese and Palestinians held a protest Sunday near the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon against a White House plan for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Protesters waving Palestinian flags gathered on a road leading to the embassy northeast of Beirut amid tight security by Lebanese troops and riot police. “Death to America! Death to Israel! We will die and Palestine survive,” some of the demonstrators chanted. Around noon, the protesters removed the barbed wire and reached a metal fence set up by security forces. Police used what appeared to be pepper spray to hold back some of the demonstrators who were on the fence, with at least three protesters being carried away.

 One million people in Syria’s Idlib marching toward Turkish border: Erdogan

 Five Turkish soldiers and a civilian have been killed by Syrian government shellfire in Syria’s opposition-held province of Idlib, Turkey has said. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said retaliatory fire “neutralized” up to 35 Syrian troops. But Syrian state media said there were no casualties. Turkey’s defense ministry said the soldiers killed by the Syrian shellfire had been sent to Idlib to prevent clashes between opposition and Russian-backed government forces, and that local authorities were aware of their position. Four Turkish soldiers died at the scene, while the fifth soldier and a civilian employee of the military died later in hospital, the ministry added. Another seven soldiers were wounded. President Erdogan told reporters that 46 Syrian “regime targets” had been hit by the Turkish military in response to the attack.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a stabbing attack in south London, without giving evidence, the group’s Amaq news agency said on Monday. “The perpetrator of the attack in Streatham district in south London yesterday is a fighter of Islamic State, and carried out the attack in response to calls to attack the citizens of coalition countries,” a statement carried by Amaq said. The assailant in Sunday’s attack, who was shot dead by police, had previously praised the Islamic State, shared an online al Qaeda magazine and encouraged his girlfriend to behead her parents.

Russia has issued its first official pronouncement on the Trump administration’s deal of the century. On Sunday, Dmitri Peskov, Kremlin press secretary, said, “The plan doesn’t stand in line with the decision of the United Nations and earlier agreements.” “It’s enough to see the Palestinians’ response to the plan and the way they’ve shaken it off. We have also seen a variety of reactions in the Arab world in support of the Palestinian position,” Peskov said. “Naturally, these reactions make us wonder about the feasibility of the program,” Peskov said. On Saturday, the Arab League in Cairo held an emergency meeting in a show of opposition to the Trump plan. Those in attendance said they wouldn’t cooperate with the U.S. to implement the plan.

The Islamist terror organization Al-Qaeda is responsible for an attack on a Florida naval base in December 2019, read a statement published on Sunday by the terror group. In that attack, a Saudi officer who arrived at base training shot three people dead and injured seven more. No further proof has been yet presented connecting Al-Qaeda to the attack.

As host of Super Bowl LIV between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, the Fox network green lighted ads featuring drag queens and rabid Second Amendment opponent Michael Bloomberg. But there was no room for a pro-life commercial during this year’s big game, a report said. Lyric Gillett, founder of Faces of Choice, accused Fox of “stringing her along after she began negotiating in July to air a powerful black-and-white ad featuring adults and children of different genders and ethnicities with one thing in common: they survived abortions,” Valerie Richardson noted in a Jan. 29 report for The Washington Times. Gillett said that “In an era where we’re trying to give survivors a voice, whether that is through the #MeToo movement or on any number of issues, for some reason we deem survivors of abortion worthy of being ignored into oblivion. That, to me, is both ironic but also just appalling.”

 Thirty-Two Christians Slaughtered By Islamic Terrorists In Nigeria

 Christians in Southern India Attacked, Harassed, and Displaced by Extremists

There have been increased attacks in Plateau State, Nigeria over the past several weeks. There have been two large attacks that took place on January 26 and 27. These two attacks took places in Kwatas and Marish villages and left a total of at least 32 dead. The attack on Kwatas, which took place on the 26th, left at least 15 people killed according to online reports. A local source told ICC that the number is actually 21 however. The attack was also confirmed to have been committed by Fulani according to the online reports. The second attack was in Marish village on the 27th. During this attack nor only were 17 people killed, but a church was also burned down. Despite this, the media and government will continue to say that there is no religious element to the attacks that are happening. These attacks followed other recent attacks that killed at least 15 other people as well. That brings the total death count in January in Plateau State to at least 47. With the other attacks that have taken place in other areas by fulani and boko haram, 2020 has started off very bloody. Please continue to pray for our suffering brothers and sisters in Nigeria.

 Faced With Existential Threat to Their Rule, Chinese Leaders Decide to Save 11 Cities From Coronavirus Epidemic

Top Chinese leaders at a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Politburo meeting last week expressed concern that the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak may put an end to their rule. They have decided to focus on preserving 11 major cities from being devastated by the virus. Stephen Shiu Yeuk-yuen, a senior political commentator and media professional in Hong Kong, told the Hong Kong edition of The Epoch Times on Jan. 28 that he obtained the information from an insider in the CCP’s top leadership. According to Shiu, the Politburo emergency meeting was held on Jan. 25, on the day of the Chinese New Year. The 11 cities on the CCP’s priority list of being saved are Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Shenyang, Harbin, and Urumqi. The CCP is prepared to protect these 11 cities at all cost, even if it means sacrificing other cities, Shiu said.

Tom Cotton of Arkansas dismantled a claim from China’s communist regime Thursday that pinned the coronavirus outbreak on a market selling dead and live animals. “China claimed — for almost two months — that coronavirus had originated in a Wuhan seafood market,” Cotton wrote on Twitter. “That is not the case.” In a video accompanying his post, Cotton explained that the Wuhan wet market (which Cotton incorrectly referred to as a seafood market) has been shown by experts to not be the source of the deadly contagion. Cotton referenced a Lancet study which showed that many of the first cases of the novel coronavirus, including patient zero, had no connection to the wet market — devastatingly undermining China’s claim.

Based on recently published scientific papers, this new coronavirus has unprecedented virologic features that suggest genetic engineering may have been involved in its creation. The virus presents with severe clinical features, thus it poses a huge threat to humans. It is imperative for scientists, physicians, and people all over the world, including governments and public health authorities, to make every effort to investigate this mysterious and suspicious virus in order to elucidate its origin and to protect the ultimate future of the human race.

 Australia coronavirus: Hundreds evacuated to Christmas Island

Australia has begun evacuating its citizens trapped by the coronavirus outbreak in China to an immigration detention centre on a remote island. Evacuees from Wuhan are en route to Australia’s Christmas Island, where they will be quarantined for two weeks. Canberra said 243 citizens and permanent residents, including 89 children, were on board. A second flight is also scheduled for this week. Pictures on social media showed queues of families waiting to board on Monday. “We have prioritised vulnerable and isolated Australians,” Foreign Minister Marise Payne told reporters in Canberra. The nation’s flagship carrier, Qantas, is operating the chartered flight. All those on board would wear masks and other protective clothing, and interactions between staff and passengers would be minimal, said chief executive Alan Joyce.

China opened a 1,000 bed hospital Monday that crews rushed to build in order to help cope with a coronavirus outbreak that has sickened more than 17,200 people and killed at least 361 in China alone. The World Health Organization says it expects the number of cases to grow as test results from thousands of pending cases come in. The virus has been largely confined to China, with about 150 cases in 23 other countries.  The Philippines on Sunday reported the first death due to the virus outside of China. Chinese authorities have tried to stop the spread by instituting bans on movement in certain regions and extending holidays to keep people away from schools and other large gatherings. Other nations put in place restrictions on those traveling from China, including the United States, which drew criticism from China’s foreign ministry. Spokeswoman Hua Chunying accused the United States of spreading fear and not offering any substantial assistance in response to the outbreak.

 China Reports Bird Flu Outbreak in Hunan Province

As if health officials in China don’t have enough on their hands with a spreading coronavirus, now officials announced an outbreak of bird flu. China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced Saturday an outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of H5N1 bird flu at a farm in the southern province of Hunan. The virus was discovered on a farm with nearly 8,000 chickens — more than half of them have already died because of the outbreak. China is not alone in trying to tamp down the spread of this virus. Earlier this week authorities in India started culling chickens and destroying eggs to contain the bird flu virus. And a different strain — the H5N8 virus — has spread throughout eastern Europe in recent weeks.

 Somalia Declares National Emergency over Locust Upsurge

The Somali government has declared a national emergency over a locust upsurge which is spreading in the East Africa region. The Somali Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Said Hussein Iid said the desert locust poses a “major threat” to the country’s already fragile food security situation. The first wave of locust swarms in Somalia last December destroyed about 100,000 hectares of farmland and pastures in Somalia, says Iid.  He warns that an upcoming second wave will be even more destructive.“ The threat is very real,” Iid told VOA Somali.  The emergency national declaration was made in a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture & Irrigation on Saturday, and says the swarms are uncommonly large and consume huge amounts of crops and forage.

A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2020 BT14 will flyby Earth at 08:19 UTC on February 3, 2020, at a distance of 0.49 LD / 0.00126 AU (188 493 km / 117 124 miles). This is the second known asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance this month, making a total of 9 since the start of the year. Asteroid 2020 BT14 belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed at Pan-STARRS 2, Haleakala, Hawaii on January 31. Its estimated diameter is between 7.9 and 18 m (25.9 – 59 feet).

The Rebuilt Jewish Temple

Arab League rejects Trump’s Middle East Plan

The Arab League has completely rejected US President Donald Trump‘s Middle East plan during an emergency meeting in Egypt‘s capital, saying it would not lead to a just peace deal.

In a statement on Saturday, the pan-Arab bloc said it “rejects the US-Israeli ‘deal of the century’ considering that it does not meet the minimum rights and aspirations of Palestinian people.”

Arab states also agreed “not to … cooperate with the US administration to implement this plan,” adding that Israel should not implement the initiative by force. They insisted on a two-state solution that includes a Palestinian state based on borders before the 1967 war, when Israel occupied the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem. They also called for East Jerusalem to be the capital of the future Palestinian state.

IDF strikes terror targets at Gaza Strip after rockets fired at Israel
IDF forces struck terror targets in the Gaza Strip on Friday night, following at least two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip that struck southern Israel, according to the IDF Spokesperson Unit. “The IAF struck several outposts of the Hamas terror group in response to rockets fired [at Israel] from the Gaza Strip,” the report stated.

 Murray-Darling: thousands of fish have died in NSW in past two weeks

I hope those of you who have been coming to my prophecy sites remember my past warnings that the enemies of Israel will not stop launching rockets and missiles into Israel. Below are a few of my warnings. 

Once again while the PLO and Israel are supposedly calling for peace and safety the attacks on Israel start up again. Acts such as we see in the news today are going to continue until we see another war between the PLO and Israel.

Israel strikes Hamas in Gaza after rocket attack, as region heats up
The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that warplanes and other aircraft carried out attacks on a “wide array of targets belonging to the Hamas terror group. … constituting a real blow to Hamas’s abilities to build up [its forces].”

Rockets, explosive balloons and sniper shots were fired from #Gaza into #Israel throughout the day. We just responded by striking Hamas terror targets in Gaza including underground infrastructure used to manufacture weapons. We hold Hamas responsible.

IDF attacks terror targets after rocket barrage in Gaza border communities
The IDF attacked Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip on Thursday night in response to a barrage of rockets sent into Israel a few hours prior. IDF airplanes and fighter jets attacked a long line of terrorist targets belonging to Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip. Among other targets, the IDF struck an underground cell belonging to the terrorist organization.

Palestinians around the world are uniting to thwart U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan, former Hamas leader Khaled Mashal said Thursday, criticizing Arab governments who supported the plan. “We completely reject this deal and we are confident it will fail. But we will not wait for its failure, we will make it fail,” Mashal told Reuters from his residence in Qatar’s capital

 100,000 Chinese “Under Observation” As Coronavirus Deaths Soar; State Dept Finally Issues “Do Not Travel To China” Advisory
Nearly two weeks since the start of the Coronavirus epidemic, which has now resulted in over 100,000 Chinese being placed under observation, and over 210 people dead, the US finally did the right thing when late on Thursday the U.S. State Department warned Americans not to travel to China because of the spreading coronavirus outbreak.

The Trump administration has wooed officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, and other nations in the region in an effort to transcend the political impasse, and to some extent they are responding. The most important regional players—Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E.—both urged Palestinian leaders to accept the Trump plan as a basis for new talks with Israel, a move that would force them to make significant concessions, such as Israeli annexation of the Jordan Valley. “What’s historic here is that it’s the first time, I think since the start of the conflict, that the Arab position has not been a replica of the Palestinian position,” said David Makovsky, director of the Project on Arab-Israel Relations at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. “That speaks to a wider sense of regional priorities that the Arab countries have, whether it is Iran, Yemen, Libya or closer ties with the U.S.”

Warren Vows to ‘Reverse’ Progress Trump Made Towards Peace in Middle East

Democratic 2020 hopeful Elizabeth Warren came out swinging against President Trump’s Deal of the Century. The Massachusetts senator who recently stated that she’d criminalize voting disinformation online, took to Twitter calling Trump’s Peace Deal a ‘Sham’. In a tweet on Tuesday, Warren called the deal a “rubber stamp for annexation” that “offers no chance for a real Palestinian state.” Warren also criticized that the plan was unveiled “without negotiating with Palestinians” adding that that “isn’t diplomacy, it’s a sham.” Warren seemed to have conveniently ignored the fact that the Trump administration invited the Palestinians to negotiate before finalizing the deal. However Abbas rejected the offer. Furthermore, Trump’s Secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, has invited the Palestinians to propose a counter-offer.

Three rocket launches detected from Gaza, Iron Dome intercepts 2

Three rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel, IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said Thursday night. One rocket fell in an open area near Sapir College near the southern city of Sderot and a small fire broke out at the scene. The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted two rockets. Earlier Thursday, the IDF attacked several Hamas observation posts and positions along the Gaza-Israel perimeter fence. The strikes were carried out as retaliation to a host of recent acts of aggression from the Hamas-ruled enclave, such as flying of incendiary balloons into Israeli territory and shooting at an IDF post earlier Thursday. Mortar fire landed in an open area in Eshkol Regional Council after rocket sirens blared near the Gaza Strip border, IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said on Wednesday. The IDF also reported it had detected two more rocket launches from the Palestinian-ruled enclave that haven’t crossed the border and landed within the Gaza Strip. Israel carried out several retaliatory airstrikes on Hamas positions in the southern Gaza Strip, including arms manufacturing facilities and underground infrastructure.

Trump plan major step in ‘fulfilling Jewish destiny’ at Temple Mount, activists say

The activists intend to make an official request in the coming days to “allow every Jew to offer the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount, the most important commandment in the Torah.” Israeli activists advocating the freedom of Jewish worship and prayer on the Temple Mount welcomed President Donald Trump’s unveiling of the Deal of the Century, lauding it as “a major step toward fulfilling the Jewish destiny at the site of the Temple.” The plan, titled “Vision for Peace, Prosperity, and a Brighter Future,” calls for Jerusalem’s holy sites to “remain open and available for peaceful worshippers and tourists of all faiths.” “People of every faith should be permitted to pray on the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif, in a manner that is fully respectful to their religion, taking into account the times of each religion’s prayers and holidays, as well as other religious factors,” the plan states. Israeli visits to the holy site are currently heavily restricted in time, and prayer is almost completely banned while Jews visiting the Temple Mount are often harassed by Muslims and the Waqf. Temple Mount activists said Tuesday that “the prayers of the Jews on the Temple Mount are now officially recognized by the United States,” and that this recognition “advances the People of Israel in a major step toward fulfilling the Jewish destiny at the site of the Temple.” The activists intend to make an official request in the coming days to “allow every Jew to offer the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount, the most important commandment in the Torah.”

Planes bomb hospital in Syrian safe zone; at least 11 dead

Russian airstrikes in residential areas of battle-scarred northwestern Syria killed nearly a dozen civilians late Wednesday after bombs destroyed a hospital, defense officials said. The Syria Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said the attacks in Idlib’s Ariha district injured 50 others. The hospital is no longer operational following the strike, which Turkish officials say broke cease-fire rules that designate Idlib province a safe de-escalation zone. Eleven people were killed, the White Helmets said. “[Eleven] innocent civilians, including children, were retrieved from the rubble after midnight, and 50 people were rescued alive,” the group tweeted.

Erdogan calls Mideast peace plan ‘invasion plan’

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday called a peace plan for the Middle East proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump an “invasion plan”. Erdogan also showed his distaste with a part of the peace plan pertaining to Jerusalem that suggests the Holy City in its entirety should remain under Israeli rule and that Trump only devised the peace plan to get a round of applause. “Enough with the lies. Jerusalem is not for sale, this is a red line for us,” said Erdogan. “At the press conference where the deal was presented, President Trump just wanted a round of applause that is of no value in solving problems. You can’t change the fate of the Palestinians using such lies.”

The event will bring experts together to better understand ethics in Artificial Intelligence. This technology is already yielding positive results in fields like health, defense and finance. However, it is unknown whether or not the data it compiles will discriminate against users. “Companies like Microsoft and IBM contacted Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Academy for Life. They feel the increased importance of ethics in technology. Companies that are sensitive to users’ needs perceive the responsibility technological progress brings.” Microsoft and IBM intend to sign the “Call for Ethics.” The Vatican says if other companies want to join, they are welcome. David Sassoli, president of the European Parliament, and Qu Dongyu, director general of the FAO, will also attend the signing. The event will take place Feb. 28 and is open to the public. Anyone who wants to participate can sign up on the Pontifical Academy for Life website.

Israeli Intelligence Officer Links CoronaVirus to Covert Chinese BioWarfare Lab

Although animal-borne, the deadly coronavirus pandemic spreading worldwide may have originated in a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan. And it’s all part of China’s covert biological weapons program an Israeli biological warfare analyst said in an interview with the Washington Times. Dany Shoham, a former Israeli military intelligence officer who holds a doctorate in medical microbiology, focused his studies on Chinese biological warfare. Shoham said that the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the only laboratory in China that is capable of working with deadly viruses, is linked to China’s covert bio-weapons program. “Certain laboratories in the institute have probably been engaged, in terms of research and development, in Chinese [biological weapons], at least collaterally, yet not as a principal facility of the Chinese BW alignment,” Shoham told the news outlet. Cooperation on biological weapons is executed as part of dual civilian-military research. He added that it is “definitely covert” he said via email.

CDC said Thursday afternoon they have confirmed human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus in Chicago – meaning the US has now joined Germany, Japan, South Korea and Thailand in having confirmed human-to-human transmission outside China. Chicago health officials have reported the first US case of human-to-human transmission of the deadly coronavirus. The new patient is the spouse of a Chicago woman who carried the infection back from Wuhan, China, the US Centers for Disease Control said on Thursday. The discovery marks the second report of the virus in Illinois and the sixth confirmed case in the US. More than 130 people have died in China – the epicentre of the outbreak – and nearly 6,000 have been infected. The virus has spread to every region in China and to at least 16 countries globally, including Thailand, France, the US and Australia, with the global death toll rising to 170.

While the “Deal of the Century” has solidified US President Donald Trump as a genuine friend of Israel (perhaps the most genuine to ever sit in the Oval Office), many conservative Jews and Christians remain uneasy over the fact that the plan still looks to permanently divide the Promised Land. As many have noted, Trump has presented the most comprehensive and realistic peace proposal given this intractable situation. And he’s done so while finally taking seriously not only Israel’s security concerns, but the Jewish people’s historical and legal claims to this Land. But even then, there are serious concerns, some practical, others of a faith-based nature. Dr. Jürgen Bühler, president of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), acknowledged that Trump’s plan is a genuine effort to “find a way forward to a brighter future for both peoples in this disputed land.” However, Dr. Bühler stated in an ICEJ press release that “while Trump’s proposal is better by far than past peace plans and contains many elements which will benefit both Israel and the Palestinians, it is still a plan to permanently divide the land that God promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants.”

Sheikh met with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and handed him a personal handwritten letter in Arabic written by Abbas to Netanyahu. In his letter, Abbas made it clear that he considers the Trump plan a violation of the Oslo Accords, and therefore the PA no longer feels obligated to them and to the security coordination resulting from them. Abbas stated that he was going to announce this at the Arab League debate this Saturday, adding that he would call for a nonviolent public protest against the plan.

He met with top IDF personnel, including Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and the commanders in charge of the Central Region and Judea and Samaria. “I hear threats from the Palestinian side,” he said, reassuring the public that “the security establishment and IDF are ready for any scenario.” Israel Radio reported that in Ramallah, Palestinians were burning posters of Trump and Netanyahu on Tuesday. About two hours after the televised unveiling, several thousand Palestinians gathered in the city’s main square to hear speakers from Fatah call for torpedoing the deal via a renewed “national struggle.”

Thousands of Palestinians in West Bank protest against Trump’s deal

Dozens injured in clashes with Israeli forces as fresh protests are planned for Thursday. According to the Red Crescent, 41 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli forces in the towns of Tulkarm, al-Bireh and Arroub refugee camp and in villages north of the Jordan Valley. It reported injuries sustained from rubber-coated bullets and cases of suffocation from inhaling tear gas. In the Jordan Valley, Palestinians protested in al-Hamra and Toubas villages against Israel’s intentions to annex the area, which is one of the critical points included in Trump’s deal. Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested two Palestinians inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, claiming that they were carrying knives. They shut down the gates to the compound and the Old City gates, preventing people from entering or exiting the city. Palestinians in East Jerusalem called for a demonstration on Thursday at the Damascus Gate, one of the main entryways that lead into the Old City, to protest against the proposed deal that they say aims to embolden Israeli settlers’ presence in the city. In Hizma town, north of East Jerusalem, Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli forces stationed at the nearby military checkpoint.

Syrian troops capture key town in rebel-held Idlib province

Syrian government forces captured one of the largest and most strategic rebel-held towns in the country’s northwest, the Syrian military and opposition activists said Wednesday, part of a Russian-backed military assault that has displaced hundreds of thousands of people fleeing to safer areas. The town of Maaret Al-Numan in Idlib province, which had been in rebel hands since 2012, sits on the highway linking Damascus with Aleppo and is considered critical to President Bashar Assad’s forces. The town is now largely empty as a result of intense bombardment in recent weeks. Its capture is the latest in a series of military triumphs for Assad.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday accused Turkey of breaching an agreement to halt foreign interference in Libya by sending warships and mercenaries to the North African country. Following a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Macron also described a maritime deal between Turkey and Libya’s U.N.-backed government as a “void document” with no legal or political standing. “These past few days we have seen Turkish warships accompanied by Syrian mercenaries arrive on Libyan soil. This is a serious and explicit infringement of what was agreed upon in Berlin,” Macron said, referring to an international summit in the German capital earlier this month. There was no immediate comment from the Turkish government.

Female flogging force unveiled in Indonesia to publicly punish women who violate Sharia law

A female flogging unit has been introduced in Indonesia’s Aceh province to dole out public whippings against women found violating the region’s Sharia law. One of eight new female Sharia officers delivered her first punishment to an unmarried woman who was found in a hotel room with a man who was not family, AFP reported Tuesday. The victim’s behavior is considered a morality crime in Aceh, where violators often face public whipping with a rattan cane. Aceh is the only region in Indonesia, the most populous Muslim nation, to follow Islamic law, which calls for women to punish female transgressors, the outlet reported.

French riot police clashed with uniformed firefighters at protests in Paris on Tuesday, in extraordinary scenes where police used batons and shields against crowds of angry fire officers in helmets. Thousands of firefighters held a demonstration in the French capital, as part of long-running protest movement asking for better pay and conditions, including an increase in their hazard bonus which has not changed since 1990. Some firefighters set their uniforms alight as a symbolic gesture before colleagues put out the fires. But as a group of fire officers attempted to lead their demonstration into a sidestreet, riot officers pushed them back. Teargas was fired and scuffles broke out. Videos of the clashes went viral on social media amid growing pressure on the government over French police tactics of crowd control at demonstrations.

Yemen’s Houthis ‘target Saudi Aramco facilities in Jizan’

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said on Wednesday that they had targeted facilities belonging to Saudi Aramco in Jizan on the Red Sea in response to “escalating air strikes”, but there was no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities of any attack. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria said in comments reported by Houthi-run Al Masirah TV that the rebel group had also targeted non-energy Saudi facilities near the border with Yemen. Saria did not give a timeframe for the assault, and state oil giant Aramco declined to comment on the report. The spokesman said in more than 15 “operations” had been carried out in the past week inside Saudi Arabia in retaliation for an escalation in air strikes. Yemen has been ongoing in Yemen for almost five years since Houthi rebels ousted the internationally-recognised government of President Abed Rabbu Mansour Hadi from the capital in late 2014. A Saudi-led military coalition intervened in 2015 in a bid to restore him. In a separate statement, Saria said that other Saudi sites targeted “with a large number of rockets and drones” near the border with Yemen include Abha and Jizan airports and Khamis Mushait military base. If confirmed, they would be the first such Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia since late September, when the group said it would halt missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities if the coalition ended its air strikes on Yemen.

President Donald Trump will sign a new North American trade agreement on Wednesday in an outdoor ceremony at the White House to be attended by about 400 guests – but not the key Democrats who helped secure congressional passage of the deal. California Democrats introduce bill to protect pedophiles who lure and sexually abuse innocent children

A handful of leftist politicians in California recently introduced a new bill that they claim will “end blatant discrimination against LGBT young people regarding California’s sex offender registry.” But the devil is in the details, as the bill would actually protect adult sex offenders who prey upon and assault minors. A plane chartered by the U.S. government to evacuate 201 Americans from the Chinese city at the center of the coronavirus outbreak was on its way to Southern California Wednesday morning. It was carrying diplomats from the U.S. Consulate in Wuhan and other U.S. citizens. All the evacuees cleared initial health checks in China and then during a refueling stop in Alaska. By Wednesday morning the flu-like virus had killed at least 132 people, all of them in China. Close to 6,000 others have been infected in more than a dozen countries, including five confirmed cases in the United States. More than 100 people in the U.S. were being tested for the disease across 26 states on Tuesday. Before the flight left China there were more than 1,000 Americans stuck in Wuhan. Other countries have also begun evacuating citizens from China on chartered flights, and some major airlines were halting flights to mainland China. The Trump administration was considering a complete travel ban on China as it evaluates the best ways to stop the virus spreading.

It appears “trade optimism” to save the stock market has turned to “coronavirus cure optimism.” The CEO of Novartis added some color on timelines of a potential vaccine for the deadly virus, which has infected over 6,000 people, with 132 deaths across China. Vas Narasimhan, CEO of Novartis, told CNBC on Wednesday that it could take upwards of one year to find a new vaccine, which he called the outbreak across the world “very serious.” Already, scientists in Australia have attempted to create a lab-grown version of coronavirus, and it could be studied to develop virus detection tests and vaccines eventually, Reuters reported.

After explosive balloons were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory early Sunday, IDF fighter jets targeted a number of Hamas terror targets in the southern Gaza Strip. Among the targets struck were a weapons manufacturing site and a military compound in which posts used for collection purposes were located. Explosive balloons are becoming more sophisticated, Israel Hayom reports on Sunday.They are also being found further afield, causing concern among Israel’s population that Gaza terrorists have found a way to extend the range of the explosive devices. Arab reports say that the balloons launched by terrorists from Gaza are fixed with a stronger incendiary mixture than the incendiary balloons previously launched toward Israel.Similarly, the explosive devices are “upgraded” and equipped with elements to increase casualties among the civilian population, the sources say.

Trump signs bill to help boost synagogues, other nonprofits against potential attacks

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a bill on Friday that allocates $375 million over five years to synagogues and other houses of worship, as well as additional other nonprofits, to help protect themselves against terror attacks. The Securing American Nonprofit Organizations Against Terrorism Act will allocate $75 million annually under the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). Trump called it an “incredible piece of legislation.” “It took a long time to get it here, but this is something that is very, very special and great for you as mayors,” he told those in the Oval Office for the signing of the bill. Attendees included Jewish Federations of North America president and CEO Eric Fingerhut and American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) executive vice president Rabbi Levi Shemtov.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White party chairman MK Benny Gantz are set to meet separately with US President Donald Trump Monday at the White House, ahead of the expected roll-out of the American administration’s long-awaited peace plan. The president will first meet with Netanyahu alone for 20 minutes at 6 PM Israel time (11 AM in Washington) and then participate in an expanded meeting along with the prime minister’s staff for a little less than an hour. The meeting with Gantz is to follow immediately afterward. Reuters reported Monday that a U.S. official said that Trump’s message to the two will be: “You have six weeks to get this [plan] going, if you want it.” Before getting on their respective flights to Washington, both rivals for the prime minister’s seat in the Israeli parliamentary election on March 2 called the plan, which has been dubbed the Deal of the Century, a “historic” plan. Palestinian factions on Sunday called for a “day of rage” for the day US President Donald Trump releases his long-awaited plan for Mideast peace. The latest call for a “day of rage” came as the Palestinian Authority continued to threaten that Trump’s upcoming plan, also known as the “Deal of the Century,” would ignite mass protests in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. PA officials have also hinted that the Palestinian leadership may renounce all signed agreements with Israel and halt security coordination between the Palestinians and Israel in the West Bank. The group called on Palestinians to express their anger toward the US administration by removing all street signs concerning US funding for various Palestinian projects. It also called for boycotting US goods, the same way Palestinians have been boycotting settlement products.

Speaking about the upcoming U.S. announcement, Abu Yusuf said that the Palestinians will appeal to the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to seek international protection for their claims while commencing with “popular protest activities,” a reference to violence and riots. Abu Yusuf added that a Palestinian declaration of a status as a “state under occupation” is also possible. Eastern Jerusalem would be declared the capital of the Palestinian state.

The audio appears to try to win the extremist group popularity in the region at a time when President Donald Trump’s “Deal of the Century” is expected to be announced in the U.S. soon. IS spokesman Abu Hamza al-Qurayshi urged in the 37-minute audio members of the extremist group to carry out attacks against Israel. The message was released by the group’s al-Furqan media.

Sanhedrin Assembly on Third Temple Brings Representatives from Sons of Ishmael

On Sunday night, the Sanhedrin hosted a conference to discuss the role of the Arabs and Muslims in the Third Temple. The conference featured a lecture by Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a senior lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University. Dr. Kedar has frequently referred to the claim that Jerusalem is holy to the Muslims as “fake news.” “Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran and there is not a basis to believe that Jerusalem had any significance for Muhammad,” Dr. Kedar explained to Breaking Israel News. “In early Islam, we see that assigning holiness to the Temple Mount was criticized as an attempt to introduce Jewish concepts into Islam.” “The Muslims decided to announce that the al Aqsa mentioned in the Koran refers not only to the mosque on the southern end of the compound, but is the name for the entire Temple Mount area, abandoning the original name, al-Haram al-Sharif.” Rather than use this dubious claim as a battle cry to expel the Muslims, Dr. Kedar suggested that the commonality of Jerusalem could serve as a bond to bring together all three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He emphasized that the three religions shared common interests. “Every year, rabbis and imams join in a petition to prevent a certain parade from taking place in Jerusalem,” he said, noting that al faiths were in agreement when it comes to the sanctity of the city. Dr. Kedar had hopes that such a coming-together based in Jerusalem could have a global impact but he warned that it had to be of a specific nature.

King Abdullah prepared to reject Trump’s ‘Deal of the Century’ if it penalises Jordan

Jordan’s King Abdullah has publicly slammed President Donald Trump’s proposed “Deal of the Century”, media reported this week, a US Middle East peace initiative that is expected to heavily favour Israel over the Palestinians. King Abdullah was touring southern Jordan on Sunday when he was asked about the deal, due to be unveiled to Israeli leaders during a visit to Washington this week. The Jordan monarch stated he would reject the deal if it impinges on the kingdom’s interests. “Our position is perfectly well-known. We will not agree to proposals that come at our expense,” he said, according to Israeli media. “Our position on the Palestinian cause is clear, and the word ‘no’ is very clear to everyone.” Jordan’s monarchy has custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem, while Amman has accused Israel of a series of provocations at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

 Saudi Foreign Minister Says Israeli Passport Holders Cannot Visit Kingdom

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister said Israelis were not welcome to visit the kingdom after Israel decreed that Israeli citizens could visit Saudi Arabia under certain circumstances, CNN reported on Monday. “Our policy is fixed. We do not have relations with the State of Israel and Israeli passport holders cannot visit the kingdom at the current time,” the US broadcaster quoted Prince Faisal bin Farhan as saying. “When a peace agreement is reached between the Palestinians and the Israelis, I believe the issue of Israel‘s involvement in the region will be on the table,” Prince Faisal said.

 Three Rockets Make “Direct Hit” on U.S. Embassy in Baghdad

On Sunday, at least five projectiles were launched at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq’s capital city, with three making a direct hit on buildings inside the compound. One of the rockets struck a cafeteria. At least one person was reported injured in the attack. Last Sunday, three rockets were launched at the embassy but landed nearby. The State Department added that there have been more than 14 attacks by Iran and Iranian-supported militias on US personnel in Iraq since September. “We call on the Government of Iraq to fulfill its obligations to protect our diplomatic facilities,” the spokesperson said. “The security situation remains tense and Iranian-backed armed groups remain a threat. Violence escalates in Iraq as government pushes to end protests

Gunmen shot dead two protesters in Iraq’s southern city of Nassiriya overnight and a Baghdad district became a battlefield on the third day of a drive by security forces to end months of demonstrations against the largely Iran-backed ruling elite. Clashes over the weekend had already killed at least five protesters. Rockets also hit the U.S. embassy compound in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone housing government buildings.

 Taliban says has brought down U.S. military plane in Afghanistan

The Taliban said it had shot down a U.S. military plane in the central Afghan province of Ghazni on Monday, killing all personnel on board. “The plane, which was on an intelligence mission, was brought down in Sado Khel area of Deh Yak district of Ghazni province,” Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, said in a statement, adding that everyone on board, including high ranking officers, had been killed. A senior defense official investigating the crash said no senior U.S. official was killed and added that they were still investigating the cause of the crash. No one from the U.S. military was immediately available for comment.

 Fighting Rages as Libya Force Pushes Toward Key Western City

Officials from Libya’s two rival governments said fighting erupted Sunday as the country’s east-based forces advanced toward the strategic western city of Misrata, further eroding a crumbling cease-fire agreement brokered earlier this month. The clashes came just hours after the United Nations decried “continued blatant violations” of an arms embargo on Libya by several unspecified countries. The violations fly in the face of recent pledges to respect the embargo made by world powers at an international conference in Berlin last week. The weak but U.N.-recognized government is based in the capital, Tripoli, and led by Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj. It is backed by Turkey, and to a lesser degree Qatar and Italy. Rival forces based in the east and loyal to military commander Khalifa Hifter receive support from the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, as well as France and Russia. Hifter’s forces were advancing some 120 kilometers (around 75 miles) east of Misrata, near the town of Abugrein, according to the media office of militias allied with the Tripoli government. It said clashes were still taking place in the outskirts of Abugrein.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels seize key route in deadly clashes

Yemen’s Houthi rebels made gains Monday against government troops north and east of Sanaa, seizing a strategic road in deadly fighting, loyalist military officials told AFP. The pro-government sources said the rebels had captured the route that connects Sanaa to the provinces of Marib, to the east, and Jawf to the north. Dozens have been killed or wounded in the fighting around Sanaa in the past 48 hours, according to these military sources, but they were not able to give precise figures. “The Houthis are now seeking to take Hazm, the capital of Jawf province,” one official told AFP on condition of anonymity. The rebels were now just five kilometres (three miles) from the city, this source added.

About Twenty Soldiers Killed in Mali Attack, Government Says

About 20 soldiers were killed in a pre-dawn attack on an army camp in central Mali on Jan. 26, the government said.  The identity of the attackers was not immediately clear. In a statement, the government said “terrorists” entered the camp near the village of Sokolo, killed the soldiers and caused “significant material damage”. “Reinforcements have been dispatched to the scene and an aerial reconnaissance is underway in the area to track down the attackers,” it said. Islamist groups with links to al Qaeda and the ISIS terrorist group operate in arid central and northern Mali and have used the area as a base to attack soldiers and civilians in neighboring Burkina Faso, Niger, and beyond.

BEFORE PULLING the trigger, a sniper planning to assassinate an enemy operative must be sure the right person is in the cross-hairs. Western forces commonly use software that compares a suspect’s facial features or gait with those recorded in libraries of biometric data compiled by police and intelligence agencies. Such technology can, however, be foiled by a disguise, head-covering or even an affected limp. For this reason America’s Special Operations Command (SOC), which oversees the units responsible for such operations in the various arms of America’s forces, has long wanted extra ways to confirm a potential target’s identity. Responding to a request from SOC, the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO), an agency of the defence department, has now developed a new tool for the job. This system, dubbed Jetson, is able to measure, from up to 200 metres away, the minute vibrations induced in clothing by someone’s heartbeat. Since hearts differ in both shape and contraction pattern, the details of heartbeats differ, too. The effect of this on the fabric of garments produces what Ideal Innovations, a firm involved in the Jetson project, calls a “heartprint”—a pattern reckoned sufficiently distinctive to confirm someone’s identity.

 Virginia Passes Transgender Educational Mandates for Children, Other Pro-LGBT Measures

Virginia Democrats are not just at war with the Bill of Rights; they are at war with traditional Christian values as well. They moved legislation through the state senate earlier this week that advances the LGBT agenda. One bill will allow transgender people to be issued new birth certificates that are not based on the sex of their birth. Even if they have not surgically altered their sex, they will still be able to get the new birth certificate. Another bill involves mandating public schools in Virginia to have policies regarding transgender education.

 61 Million Babies Have Died in Abortions, a Death Toll That’s the Population of Italy

The following are the remarks Congressman Chris Smith gave today at the March for Life in Washington, D.C.: Today we march for life to defend the weakest and most vulnerable. Tragically, since the infamous 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decisions that eviscerated legal protection for unborn children, more than 61 million babies have been dismembered or chemically aborted—a death toll that equates with the entire population of Italy. Under President Obama, abortion was aggressively promoted at home and overseas.  Even longstanding bipartisan conscience protection laws were shamelessly not enforced. Now President Trump  is robustly enforcing America’s conscience laws, including the Weldon Amendment, to ensure that no health care professional and no organization or entity is coerced into paying for or participating in the killing of an unborn child. In just three years, several executive orders and actions have been promulgated by the Trump Administration to protect life—including Title X reform and the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA)—and the courts appear to be seriously trending in the right direction.

In China there are now 2,744 confirmed cases as of 1200am on Jan 27, an increase of 39% resulting in 80 deaths, up 43%. This is  triple the 916 mainland China cases reported late on Friday. Across the globe, there are now 2,807 confirmed cases and 80 Chinese fatalities, as so far nobody outside of China has died from the disease (that we know of). The worst outbreak of desert locusts in Kenya in 70 years has seen hundreds of millions of the bugs swarm into the East African nation from Somalia and Ethiopia. Those two countries have not had an infestation like this in a quarter-century, destroying farmland and threatening an already vulnerable region with devastating hunger. “Even cows are wondering what is happening,” said Ndunda Makanga, who spent hours Friday trying to chase the locusts from his farm. “Corn, sorghum, cowpeas, they have eaten everything.” Even a small swarm of the insects can consume enough food for 35,000 people in a single day, said Jens Laerke of the U.N. humanitarian office in Geneva. About 70,000 hectares – 172,973 acres – of land in Kenya are already infested. A single swarm can contain up to 150 million locusts per square kilometer of farmland – an area the size of almost 250 football fields, authorities say.

 5.4 Quake Hits Southern Iran, Says State TV

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Fars province in southern Iran on Monday, Iranian state TV reported. State TV did not report any information on possible damage or casualties from the quake, which hit near the town of Khane Zenian. Assessment teams have been dispatched to the quake site, which is not a very populous area, the head of rescue for Iran’s Red Crescent, Morteza Salimi, told state TV. Posts on social media said that the earthquake had been felt by residents of the provincial capital Shiraz, approximately 50 km (30 miles) away from the epicenter of the quake.

 Brazil floods: Dozens dead in severe Minas Gerais rainstorms

At least 30 people have died during severe rainstorms in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state, the country’s emergency services have said.  Many of the victims were buried in landslides or washed away in floods after intense rain on Friday and Saturday. More than 2,500 people were evacuated from their homes, and local TV showed images of ruined houses under red mud. Rescue work continued overnight into Sunday, with 17 people missing. The Brazilian weather service said on Saturday that the state capital of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, had had 17cm (seven inches) of rain in one 24-hour period – the heaviest rainfall since records were first kept 110 years ago.
