One of the reasons why the Middleeast peace talks have continued to fail has to do with Israel’s holding on to the Golan Heights. As you can see from the headline below the Golan still remains a major issue. So much for peace!

When was the last time we in America saw a 90-0 vote in the Senate? When you read the report from the Jerusalem Post below that is exactly what you will see! Let’s think about this. Didn’t the Lord warn us in Zechariah that Jerusalem would become a burdensome stone for the world? Yes He did! Now what drives the Muslims crazy? When ever there is talk about messing with the Temple Mount area or, moving the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem the Muslims are immediately manifested in a wild or aggressive way. Why? Because any move on the Mount or, to Jerusalem is perceived by the Muslims as a possible takeover and, if you have been following the news you know that is something the Muslims won’t stand for.
Now we have to ask ourselves why would the whole world come against Jerusalem as warned by the Lord? Could such a move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem be enough to start a war? It may be called the City of Peace, but no other city has been more bitterly fought over than Jerusalem. In the past 4,000 years it has seen at least 118 conflicts. It has been razed at least twice, has been besieged 23 times, and has had at least five separate periods of violent terrorist attacks in the past century. So, the answer to the question is yes, a move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem could set off another war.
One thing is very clear. No matter what the reason Jerusalem has already become a burdensome stone from much of the world and before it is all said and done the Zechariah warning will fully come to pass.
If you have been coming to my prophecy site on a regular bases you would have seen the countless reports concerning the Jews wanting to rebuild their Temple on the Temple Mount. Over the years when the Jews tried to move closer to the Temple Mount to preform their services the Muslims went nuts and, the police had to step in and stop the violence. Each year the Jewish Sanhedrin continue to push for the same rights for the Jews on the Temple Mount as the Muslims currently have. I am sure the Jewish reenactment of the Temple First Fruits Offering up-set the Muslims. Keep in mind Jesus told us that in the last days the Jews would again build that Temple and start their sacrifices again. Not sure if you know this but, the government of Israel gave permission for the Jews to practice their animal sacrifices. In the second photo below you will see the sheep were presented by the Kohanim. The Kohanim are the Jewish Priests who do the actual slaughtering. Everything you are seeing here is a prelude to the actual fulfillment of Christ’s warnings. I believe that the Temple Mount issue and Jerusalem as the Capital are issues that will at the end of the day cause the whole world to come after Israel as warned.

These verses speak of the physical and geographic blessings given to Joseph, son of the Patriarch Jacob – whose inheritance in the Land of Israel lies largely in the Jezreel Valley.

Headline: Yemen army storms military camp in Taiz
Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi-led fighter jets seized control of a military camp in the southern city of Taiz as other forces are now engaging in fierce battles with Iran-backed Al Houthis inside the city’s presidential palace, army commanders and residents said on Monday. Brigadier General Abdo Abdullah Majili, a Yemeni army spokesperson, told Gulf News that government forces secured their grip on Al Tashrefat military camp north of Taiz and began defusing a large number of landmines planted by the fleeing Al Houthis. “By taking control of Al Tashrefat military camp, the national army forces would be able to cut military reinforcements to Al Houthi fighters in different locations.” Shortly after storming the camp, government forces staged two simultaneous attacks on Al Houthi-held Special Security Forces camp and some parts of the presidential palace compound that are remained under Al Houthi fighters’ control. Majili said that fighting raged on Monday inside the presidential palace where some Al Houthi fighters were hiding, adding that the rebel forces had sent military vehicles and new fighters to Taiz to reinforce their besieged troops. “Government forces seizure of Al Tashrefat military camp would help in winning the battle in the presidential palace,” Majili said. The camp is close to the presidential palace.

Headline: US-backed Syrian forces seize dam west of Raqqa from Daesh — SDF
US-backed Syrian militias said they seized a major dam on the Euphrates River from the Daesh extremists on Sunday, their latest gain as they push towards Raqqa city. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters, said they captured the Baath Dam in the morning, renaming it Freedom Dam. The hydroelectric facility lies 22 kilometres upstream of Raqqa, where the Daesh group’s operations in Syria are based. The spokesman for the Kurdish YPG militia, the SDF’s key component, said fighters were combing nearby villages for mines and shoring up their defensive lines. “The dam has been completely liberated,” Nouri Mahmoud said. The advance means the SDF now hold all three major dams along the Euphrates, after gaining control of Syria’s largest dam last month. With air strikes and special forces from the US-led coalition, the SDF have been encircling Raqqa, which Daesh has used as a hub to plan attacks abroad. The operation to storm the city will start in the next “few days”, Mahmoud said on Saturday. The Raqqa assault will pile more pressure on the extremist group’s self-declared “caliphate” as it faces defeat in the Iraqi city of Mosul and retreats across much of Syria. The Daesh group still controls swathes of Syria’s eastern desert bordering Iraq and most of Deir Ezzor province, which would be its last major foothold in Syria after losing Raqqa.

Shiite paramilitaries have captured the Iraqi town of Baaj from the Daesh terror group, further shrinking the northern region under extremist control as part of a US-backed campaign to retake the city of Mosul, the Iraqi military said on Sunday. Eight months into the Mosul offensive, Daesh militants have been dislodged from all of the city except an enclave along the western bank of the Tigris River.Daesh’s grip on the Iraqi side of the northern region along the border with Syria, a desert area where Iraqi and US sources believe Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi is hiding, has been ebbing as forces fighting on the side of Iraq’s government have advanced. The Iraqi air force provided cover for the thrust into Baaj of the Shiite paramilitaries known as Popular Mobilisation, said a statement from the Iraqi joint operations command.

Headline: Germany, Turkey fail to break deadlock over air base visit
Turkey on Monday refused to budge on its refusal to let German lawmakers visit troops stationed at a Turkish air base, a stance that left NATO ally Germany on the verge of a likely decision to move those troops to Jordan.Speaking after a meeting with his German counterpart that was widely viewed as the last chance to resolve an impasse over the visits, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu called for “positive steps” on Turkey’s requests for Germany to crack down on Kurdish rebels and alleged coup plotters. Cavusoglu said Turkey would allow German legislators to visit a NATO base in the central province of Konya, but not Incirlik Air Base, where about 270 German troops are stationed with Tornado reconnaissance jets and a refueling plane.

Headline: U.S. and Iran-Backed Troops Head for Confrontation at al-Tanf on Iraq-Syria Border
The United States military is increasing its “combat power” in southern Syria around the American military training camp in al-Tanf, a Syrian town on the border with Iraq, on the Syrian side of Iraq’s al-Waleed border crossing. The military buildup is in response to the approach of Iran-backed Shia forces from Iraq and the Syrian regime. Some unconfirmed reports indicate that the Shia forces are backed by Russian paratroopers.Col. Ryan Dillon, a US military spokesman said:We have increased our presence and our footprint and prepared for any threat that is presented by the pro-regime forces. Dillon said of the Iranian-backed forces being massed, “We see that as a threat.” There are 150 US troops in the al-Tanf base. There is already been one deadly confrontation, as we reported two weeks ago. A pro-Syrian regime convoy was headed in the direction of the al-Tanf camp. US warplanes were scrambled in a “show of force” to dissuade the convoy from proceeding further. That show of force was only partially successful, as five of the vehicles continued approaching the base. In response, American warplanes launched a series of airstrikes against the military convoy, destroying all the vehicles. It’s not known whether there were any casualties. It has believed that the militia forces in the convoy were not from the regular Syrian army, but were Shia militias coming either directly from Iraq or from Iran or from Iran’s puppet Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Headline: 22-year-old Venezuelan burned in protest dies from injuries
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said 22-year-old Orlando José Figuera, who was set on fire last month during a protest, has died from his injuries. Venezuela’s Ministry of People’s Power for Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace said 80 percent of Orlando José Figuera’s body sustained first- and second-degree burns after he was attacked by “terrorist groups” in Caracas’ Altamira neighborhood on May 20. During a televised address on Sunday, Maduro said Figuera died on Saturday. The embattled leader blamed the political opposition — to whom he referred as “fascist groups in the right” — for Figuera’s death. Though there have been some demonstrations in support of Maduro’s regime in over two months of protests, most are anti-government demonstrations decrying the country’s economic collapse under Maduro’s government and what the opposition says is the deterioration of democracy.

A bomb planted in a police station killed at least one policeman in Somalia’s southern port city of Kismayu on Monday, and militant Islamist group al-Shabab claimed responsibility. “A policeman died and several others were injured after a bomb blast. We are investigating the cause of the blast,” Hassan Nur, a policeman, told Reuters by phone. Al-Shabab said the toll was higher. “We planted a bomb inside a police station in Kismayu. We killed four policemen and wounded 27 others,” its military operations spokesman Abdiasis Abu Musab said.

Iran – long at odds with Saudi Arabia and a behind-the-scenes target of the move – immediately blamed US President Donald Trump for setting the stage during his recent trip to Riyadh. Gulf Arab states and Egypt have already long resented Qatar’s support for Islamists, especially the Muslim Brotherhood which they regard as a dangerous political enemy. The co-ordinated move, with Yemen and Libya’s eastern-based government joining in later, created a dramatic rift among the Arab nations, many of which are in OPEC. Announcing the closure of transport ties with Qatar, the three Gulf states gave Qatari visitors and residents two weeks to leave. Qatar was also expelled from the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen. Oil giant Saudi Arabia accused Qatar of backing militant groups – some backed by regional arch-rival Iran – and broadcasting their ideology, an apparent reference to Qatar’s influential state-owned satellite channel al Jazeera. “(Qatar) embraces multiple terrorist and sectarian groups aimed at disturbing stability in the region, including the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS (Islamic State) and al-Qaeda, and promotes the message and schemes of these groups through their media constantly,” Saudi state news agency SPA said. It accused Qatar of supporting what it described as Iranian-backed militants in its restive and largely Shi’ite Muslim-populated Eastern region of Qatif and in Bahrain. Qatar said it was facing a campaign aimed at weakening it, denying it was interfering in the affairs of other countries. “The campaign of incitement is based on lies that had reached the level of complete fabrications,” the Qatari foreign ministry said in a statement. Seven people were killed and dozens more injured in a “brutal terrorist attack” in London Saturday night after assailants used a vehicle to plow into pedestrians on London Bridge and attacked others with knives in nearby Borough Market, officials said. Three suspects were shot and killed in the wake of the carnage and all were wearing fake suicide belts, police said. A total of 50 rounds were fired, and one bystander was hit by bullets, police said. “There is far too much tolerance of extremism in our country,” U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May said at a press conference Sunday morning, calling the carnage a “brutal terrorist attack.”On Sunday, 36 victims remained in the hospital, 21 of them in critical condition, police said. Some of those injured are foreign nationals, according to authorities. Police said they responded to reports of a vehicle striking pedestrians on London Bridge around 10:08 p.m. local time. “The vehicle continued to drive from London Bridge to Borough Market,” Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said. “The suspects then left the vehicle and a number of people were stabbed.” Armed officers confronted the three male suspects, who were shot and killed by authorities in Borough Market, Rowley said. It was eight minutes, from the moment police were notified about the attack to when the three men were killed, Rowley said.

Headline: Marawi siege raises concern about regional base for Daesh
Militants holed up in a southern Philippines town stocked weapons and food in mosques, tunnels and basements to prepare for a long siege, officials said on Monday as the battle for control of Marawi City came to the end of its second week. Their comments underlined the level of organization among fighters linked to the Daesh group, whose ranks of several hundred included foreigners from Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Saudi Arabia, Chechnya and Morocco. The battle for Marawi City has raised concerns that the ultra-radical Daesh is building a Southeast Asia base on the island of Mindanao at the southern end of the Philippines. Parrying questions on why the fighters had been able to resist an onslaught from the Philippines army for so long, senior officers said the main problem was that 500-600 civilians were still trapped in the urban heart of the town. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte said on Saturday that Marawi City would be fully liberated within three days, but on Monday officials were more circumspect on the timing and gave conflicting estimates of how many combatants were holding out. Major General Carlito Galvez, head of the military command in Western Mindanao region, said as many as 200 fighters from the Maute militant group and others were still inside the town, and had made preparations in advance for a drawn-out standoff.

Headline: Japan Holds Evacuation Drills Amid Growing Concerns Over North Korea’s Missile Tests
The Japanese are no longer taking any chances against the rogue North Korean regime and Kim Jong-Un’s insistence on the continued testing of ballistic missiles. Japan is now participating in more frequent evacuation drills in the event that they are attacked by North Korea. Although drills of this type aren’t the first in Japan this year, they are increasing in frequency. Sunday’s evacuation drill in the town of Abu, Yamaguchi prefecture, is showing how concerned the Japanese are about a potential North Korean attack. The town of about 3,500 people some 760 km (475 miles) west of Tokyo involved a simulated North Korean missile attack. And more Japanese towns and cities are taking steps to brace for what they hope will never happen. North Korea has been increasing the number of its missile test launches in recent months. Launching 12 so far this year and three last month, with many splashing into the Sea of Japan, the Japanese are rightly concerned. Some of North Korea’s missiles have even landed inside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, which extends up to 200 miles from its shores. Tokyo has repeatedly condemned the test launches, which are in violation of United Nations resolutions, yet it’s become clear that North Korea’s volatile leader, Kim Jong-Un doesn’t care about the rules imposed upon him. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s government earlier this year instructed municipalities to hold evacuation drills, heightening a sense of urgency among the public. Although security experts in Japan have said that the drills won’t save everyone, they could save some, and that’s better than not having a plan. “It’s hard to say how many people will be saved and how much effect it will have. But, with awareness raised and basic procedure understood, the survival rate will definitely be higher,” retired Vice Admiral Yoji Koda said. The Japanese government is actively attempting to help the public prepare for the worst by putting on its website a list of tips in case a missile lands in Japanese territory. The tips include “take shelter in a robust building nearby” and “move away from windows or, if possible, move to a room without windows.” The government has previously stated that the Japanese public would only have ten minutes to react if North Korea launches a missile their way – minus the few minutes it would take for the government to alert the public to the attack.

During the first four yearly epidemics of H7N9, Guangxi reported a total of only 3 human infections. During this 5th epidemic wave, which began last October, Guangxi has now reported 27 cases. Headline: Drug Deaths in America Are Rising Faster Than Ever
Drug overdose deaths in 2016 most likely exceeded 59,000, the largest annual jump ever recorded in the United States, according to preliminary data compiled by The New York Times. The death count is the latest consequence of an escalating public health crisis: opioid addiction, now made more deadly by an influx of illicitly manufactured fentanyl and similar drugs. Drug overdoses are now the leading cause of death among Americans under 50. Although the data is preliminary, the Times’s best estimate is that deaths rose 19 percent over the 52,404 recorded in 2015. And all evidence suggests the problem has continued to worsen in 2017. Because drug deaths take a long time to certify, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will not be able to calculate final numbers until December. The Times compiled estimates for 2016 from hundreds of state health departments and county coroners and medical examiners. Together they represent data from states and counties that accounted for 76 percent of overdose deaths in 2015. They are a first look at the extent of the drug overdose epidemic last year, a detailed accounting of a modern plague. The initial data points to large increases in drug overdose deaths in states along the East Coast, particularly Maryland, Florida, Pennsylvania and Maine. In Ohio, which filed a lawsuit last week accusing five drug companies of abetting the opioid epidemic, we estimate overdose deaths increased by more than 25 percent in 2016.

Headline: Trump Will Reportedly Break His Promise and Keep U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv
U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to continue the policy of the previous three presidents and sign the presidential waiver delaying the move of the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, according to a report published on Wednesday by CNN. The report cited senior White House officials who said Trump has reached this decision and will sign the waiver before the final deadline midnight Wednesday. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer refused to answer a question on the matter during his televised press briefing on Tuesday. If Trump signs the waiver, he will break an election promise he made to move the embassy to Jerusalem. He will be the second president to break such a promise, after George W. Bush. The waiver has been signed by every U.S. president since 1995, and it is valid for six months at a time. President Barack Obama signed it during the last weeks of his term, and on Thursday it will be half a year since he did so. That means that if Trump does not sign the waiver on Thursday, the U.S. government will be forced, by law, to begin the process of relocating the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Spicer was asked about the issue during his daily press briefing, and despite the fact that the question included the looming deadline, he said that Trump has not yet made up his mind.

The Jerusalem municipality’s eastern Jerusalem experts have revealed in recent days that Turkey has been competing with Jordan over influence among Arab residents as well as over control of the Temple Mount, Hashiloach—an Israeli journal for thought and policy, created by the Tikvah Fund—reported last week. The city’s experts, David Koren and Ben Avrahami, also revealed that Turkey has begun pouring millions of dollars into non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in eastern Jerusalem, in order to strengthen Ankara’s status among the Arab residents, at the expense of Jordan and Israel. “The growing involvement of the Erdogan regime, which is now the main patron of the Muslim Brotherhood worldwide, shows that the Turkish actions in Jerusalem are part of a wider process of creating regional Turkish hegemony at the expense of other players,” wrote the Jerusalem mayor’s advisers on the eastern part of the city, noting that “the biggest loser from the increased Turkish presence is Jordan, which for many years had enjoyed the status of Custodian of the Holy Places and the protector of the residents of eastern Jerusalem.

Headline: Gunman opens fire at private school in Saudi Arabia, US embassy says
A disgruntled Iraqi teacher killed two people during a shooting at a private school in Saudi Arabia that is popular with members of the Saudi royal family, according to media reports. The gunman, who was recently sacked his job at the school, shot dead a Saudi teacher and a Palestinian headmaster, according to the 3alyoum website. The headmaster was reportedly also a US citizen. An Asian security guard was also reportedly wounded but no children were present at the time of the shooting. It was not clear if the killer had been apprehended the incident was still “ongoing” as of 3pm local time (1pm UK), according to the US embassy in Riyadh. “There has been a shooting at Kingdom School in Riyadh, shooter still at school. School closed, no children present. Please avoid area,” the embassy said on Twitter.

Headline: UAE-backed forces gain control over Aden airport
Forces backed by the United Arab Emirates have taken over the airport in the southern city of Aden, according to Yemeni security officials, further fueling tension between internationally recognized President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and the UAE. The officials said that one soldier from among the forces guarding the airport died in clashes Wednesday morning. The officials spoke anonymously as they were not authorized to brief the media. The UAE contributed forces to the Saudi-led coalition that secured Hadi’s return to the country following his exile in 2014. Hadi was originally forced to flee the capital, Sanaa, when it was seized by Shiite rebels, and Aden became his temporary seat of power. However, tensions have grown between Hadi and the UAE over control of Aden’s airport, the main gateway to Yemen’s second largest city. UAE-led forces have made several previous unsuccessful attempts to seize the airport.

Headline: Three army officers and a soldier killed in western Egypt
Three army officers and a soldier were killed in Egypt’s Western Desert on Wednesday when an explosive belt seized from Islamist militants went off, the military said in a statement. The Egyptian Air Force was conducting reconnaissance over the Bahariya Oasis area when it discovered and fired on two four-wheel drive vehicles transporting militants. As the Egyptian Army was clearing the area and dealing with the weapons and equipment the militants left behind, an explosive belt went off, killing three officers and a soldier. Egyptian security forces have been battling Islamic State, which killed hundreds from the military and police. The insurgency was until recently concentrated in the remote Sinai Peninsula but the militants have extended their campaign to other parts of Egypt.

Headline:Turkey slams US arming of Kurdish militia as ‘extremely dangerous’
The US says it has started distributing weapons to Kurdish forces fighting so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria. Pentagon spokesman Major Adrian Rankine-Galloway said the Kurdish fighters had received small arms and vehicles from the US military. The weapons aim to help them drive IS from its Syrian stronghold, Raqqa. Donald Trump this month approved arming fighters from the Kurdish Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG), drawing strong condemnation from Turkey. Turkey views the Kurdish rebels as terrorists and wants to stop them taking more territory in Syria. It is also worried that the weapons will end up in the hands of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a group it has been fighting for decades. The Pentagon has previously said it is “keenly aware” of Turkey’s concerns, and that the US remains committed to “protecting our Nato ally”. However, the US believes the Kurdish elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) will be essential to Raqqa’s downfall.

Hundreds of Iranian-backed militiamen, fighting alongside government troops loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad, are amassing near a U.S.-training base located near the country’s border with Iraq, the Defense Department confirmed Tuesday. Pro-Assad fighters supported by Tehran have begun conducting patrols near the southern Syrian town of At Tanf, which is home to a U.S. training camp for moderate Syrian militias battling the Islamic State, said Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis. American commanders and their Russian counterparts, deployed to Syria in support of the Assad regime, have designated At Tanf and the surrounding areas as a deconfliction zone, which bars any interference by any outside forces of coalition operations within the area. “We continue to see massing [of forces] and we are concerned about that,” Capt. Davis told reporters at the Pentagon Tuesday. “These patrols are unacceptable and threaten coalition forces” operating within the deconfliction zones, he said, adding that American forces would defend themselves, should regime troops attempt to breach the zone.

Headline: Russia fires cruise missiles at Islamic State targets from Mediterranean
Russian warship and submarine have fired four cruise missiles from the Mediterranean at Islamic State targets near the Syrian city of Palmyra, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. The strike, which Russian news agencies said was the first of its kind since November, was carried out by the frigate “Admiral Essen” and the submarine “Krasnodar,” and targeted militants and equipment in an area east of Palmyra. The defense ministry said the hardware and forces struck had previously been deployed by Islamic State in Raqqa. “All targets were destroyed,” it said in a statement. Russia had warned the United States, Turkey and Israel before launching the missiles, the ministry said. It did not say when the strike took place, but Russian news agencies quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had personally told President Vladimir Putin about the military action late on Tuesday.

Three suicide bombings in Baghdad and a city to the west have killed at least 42 people, targeting Iraqis breaking their fast and elderly people collecting their pensions, officials said Tuesday. The strikes came as forces fought to retake the last areas held by the Daesh group in their former stronghold of Mosul. The first IS-claimed car bombing struck a Baghdad ice cream shop during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, when Iraqis often stay out late shopping or socializing after breaking their daily fast. A second attack claimed by the group targeted the country’s main pension office, while a third bombing was carried out at an army checkpoint in Hit, some 120 miles (200 km) west of Baghdad. The US State Department said in a statement that it condemned the Baghdad bombings in “the strongest possible terms.” “These brutal attacks, whose victims included innocent children breaking the Ramadan fast and elderly Iraqis collecting their pensions, demonstrate once again the wanton savagery of the enemy we face,” spokeswoman Heather Nauert said. The UN called the bombings an “outrage” while Paris turned off the lights of the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday night in tribute to the victims. In April, Syrian rebel fighters and their US special-forces trainers repulsed an ISIS attack in an hours-long battle marked by suicide bombers and coalition airstrikes. The battle took place at al Tanf near the Syria-Iraq border, and the camp there is still used by US and UK personnel to train Western-backed fighters. But with ISIS’ territorial presence in Syria continuing to erode, al Tanf and the area around it — near the intersection of the Syrian, Iraqi, and Jordanian borders — looks to be the site of a potential clash between the US-led coalition, its local partners, and the Assad regime and its partners, backed by Iran. With US-backed forces gearing up to liberate ISIS’ self-proclaimed capital in Raqqa and ISIS losing ground elsewhere in the Syria, combatants in the country are reportedly trying to position themselves to assume control of territory vacated by terrorist group. Recent events in Syria indicate that the Assad “regime and its allies [are] racing to establish an east-west ‘Shiite axis’ from Iran to Lebanon and the United States [is] seemingly looking to cement a north-south ‘Sunni axis’ from the Gulf states and Jordan to Turkey,” Fabrice Balanche, a French expert on Syria and a visiting fellow at The Washington institute for Near East Policy, wrote recently. “What’s left of Islamic State territory is the key part of Iran’s plan to connect Iran to Lebanon,” Firas Abi-Ali, senior Middle East analyst at IHS Country Risk in London, told Bloomberg.

Headline: Kabul blast: Death toll rises to 90, 11 US citizens injured
Nearly a dozen United States citizens were among the 400 people wounded when a massive explosion rocked a highly secure diplomatic area in Kabul on Wednesday, killing at least 90 people. There were 11 U.S. citizens — all contract personnel — injured in the blast and one Afghan local guard was reported missing, a senior U.S. official told Fox News. Nine Afghan guards working for a U.S.-contracted security company were killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast, believed to be caused by a suicide bombing, though both the Taliban and the Islamic State group have staged large-scale attacks in the Afghan capital in the past. The Taliban later Wednesday issued a statement denying any involvement and condemning all attacks against civilians. Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban, said the Kabul explosion had “nothing to do with the Mujahedeen of Islamic Emirate,” as the Taliban call themselves. It was one of the worst attacks Kabul had seen since the drawdown of foreign forces from the country at the end of 2014. The bombing also raised serious questions about the Afghan government’s ability to secure the war-battered nation.

Headline: Is Egypt bombing the right militants in Libya?
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was quick to launch air strikes on militants in Libya in response to a deadly attack on Coptic Christians in Egypt – but the attacks do not seem to be targeting those responsible. The response was popular with many Egyptians. The country’s state-owned and private news media celebrated it as swift justice, but the president has been vague about exactly who he is attacking. The strikes have been directed at Islamist groups other than Islamic State, which claimed responsibility for Friday’s massacre of dozens in the southern province of Minya, and seem to be intended to shore up Sisi’s allies in eastern Libya. “The attacks in Minya were claimed by Islamic State, and there are Islamic State elements active in Libya, but the reports coming indicate Cairo is targeting other groups,” said H.A. Hellyer, senior nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council. In any case, analysts say the strikes will not do much against Islamists in Cairo, Sinai and Upper Egypt, where they have had a stronghold since the 1990s and have been attacking tourists, Copts and government officials. Bombing the camps in Libya is seen as a diversion for a failure to defeat Islamists inside Egypt. Egyptian and Libyan officials said strikes had been launched on camps and ammunition stores belonging to the Derna Mujahideen Shura Council (DMSC). Areas targeted include the western entrance to Derna, Dahr al-Hamar in the south, and al-Fatayeh, a hilly area about 20 km (12 miles) from the city. Yet the DMSC has never been involved in attacks outside Libya and in fact mostly limits its activities to Derna, rarely fighting in larger conflicts within Libya, according to Mohamed Eljarh, an Atlantic Council political analyst in Libya. The group has denied taking part in attacks inside Egypt. In fact, many suggest the air strikes had been planned in advance to shore up support for Sisi’s main Libyan ally, Khalifa Haftar and his self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA), and that the Minya massacre was used as a pretext to launch them.

Thousands staged demonstrations for a fifth night running in northern Morocco to demand the release of the leader of a months-long protest movement in the neglected Rif region. The region has been shaken by social unrest since the death in October of fishmonger Mouhcine Fikri, 31, who was crushed in a rubbish truck in the fishing port of Al-Hoceima as he protested against the seizure of swordfish caught out of season. Initial protests triggered a wider movement demanding more development in the region and railing against corruption, repression and unemployment. Nasser Zefzafi, who has emerged as the head of the grassroots Al-Hirak al-Shaabi, or “Popular Movement,” was arrested on Monday after three days on the run.Anti-riot police attempted to disperse the demonstrators, but pulled back following a tense but non-violent standoff. In Rabat, around 200 people staged a sit-in outside the parliament building which was violently dispersed by the police as soon as it began. A similar scenario played out near the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) in Casablanca, where it is believed Zefzafi is being held. Protests were held elsewhere across Al-Hoceima province. State media outlets and politicians have remained largely silent on the events, but the local branches of three parties including the ruling Justice and Development Party issued a joint statement warning of a “serious situation” and criticizing the state’s response.

It’s been more than 60 days since Venezuela’s Supreme Court moved to dissolve the country’s National Assembly. As The Associated Press reports, at least 60 people have died in clashes between demonstrators and security forces, and at least 1,000 protesters have been jailed.More than 250 people were injured in Monday’s protests alone, according to the BBC. Lately, the opposition’s ire has affixed to a new target, one outside Venezuela’s borders: Goldman Sachs. Meanwhile, in Venezuela’s city streets, violence between riot police and protesters has shown no sign of relenting. Maduro continues to maintain that the protests are driven by coup-minded opposition leaders and outside powers — foremost the U.S. — seeking to undermine his government.

Headline: Philippines urges Islamist rebels to surrender as battle enters 8th day
The Philippine military urged Islamist militants occupying a southern city to turn themselves in on Tuesday, the eighth day of a push by security forces using armored vehicles and firing rockets from helicopters to eliminate the gunmen. The government says it is close to retaking Marawi from the Islamic State-linked Maute group, which seized parts of the city after a failed attempt by security forces to capture Isnilon Hapilon, the militants’ so-called emir of Southeast Asia. “We call on the remaining terrorists to surrender while there is an opportunity,” a military spokesman, Brigadier-General Restituto Padilla, told reporters. As helicopters circled the lakeside city where smoke billowed out of some buildings, troops cleared rebel positions amid explosions and automatic gunfire, moving house by house and street by street.

Headline: N. Korea fires ‘Scud-type’ ballistic missile
North Korea fired a ballistic missile from its eastern coast early Monday morning, dealing another blow to efforts by South Korea’s new government to improve inter-Korean ties. The missile, presumed to be a Scud type, was launched eastward from the vicinity of Wonsan, Gangwon Province, at around 5:39 a.m., according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). “The flight distance is around 450 kilometers,” it said. The North’s latest action was immediately reported to President Moon Jae-in, who ordered related government officials to convene a National Security Council meeting, said the JCS. The session started at 7:30 a.m., presided over by Moon’s national security adviser Chung Eui-yong. The U.S. Pacific Command also confirmed the launch occurred near Wonsan Airfield, saying the missile was tracked for six minutes until it landed in the East Sea. Monday’s launch marked the communist nation’s ninth missile test this year and the third since the launch of the Moon administration on May 10, which is seeking to reach out to the communist neighbor.

Headline: Cholera outbreak kills 532 in Yemen: WHO
At least 532 people have died since a cholera epidemic broke out in war-torn Yemen one month ago, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Severe weather sweeping through Moscow, Russia, on Monday resulted in the death of at least 16 people, according to Russian officials. Headline: Deadly Cyclone Mora hits Bangladesh with high winds and rain
Cyclone Mora has hit the south-eastern coast of Bangladesh, killing at least six people. Most of them were killed by falling trees in the districts of Cox’s Bazar and Rangamati, officials told the BBC. Hundreds of houses were fully or partly damaged, the officials said. Significant damage is reported in refugee camps housing Rohingya Muslims from neighbouring Myanmar. The authorities have moved hundreds of thousands of people to shelters.About 20,000 houses in refugee camps for Rohingya were damaged, community leader Abdus Salam told AFP news agency. “In some places, almost every shanty, homemade of tin, bamboo and plastic, has been flattened,” Mr Salam added. “Some people were injured, but no-one is dead [in the camps].” Cyclone Mora made landfall at 06:00 local time (00:00 GMT) between the fishing port of Cox’s Bazar and the city of Chittagong, with winds of up to 117 km/h (73mph), the country’s meteorological department said. It then weakened as it moved north, heading into India.

In my post of May 12, 2017 and, in my post dated yesterday May 28, 2017 I gave a warning to please keep on the watch for the difference diseases that are mutating. As I said so many times I believe we will continue to hear more news concerning the avian influenza and Bird Flu. I expect these diseases to begin jumping from human to human the closer we get to the beginning of the tribulation. Now there is a new disease the LPAI H7N9. I have given you a few of the main points in the report below but everyone should click the link below and read the entire report.
And new genotypes and variants are formed practically on a daily bases. Some will be evolutionary failures, while others may prove competitive enough to thrive. The point being, the H7N9 threat is constantly evolving. All of which brings us to one of many reports in the Chinese media this weekend of a very large and sudden die off in poultry in northern Shaanxi Province. Reportedly 22,000 birds died over a matter of a few days, and while test results are pending, H7N9 is suspected.

Headline: Talks underway for possible pope visit to Israel to push peace — report
Israeli and Vatican officials have launched talks to discuss the possibility of Pope Francis paying a visit to Israel and the wider region in a bid to push peace between Israelis and Palestinians. A Vatican delegation is expected in Israel next month and is looking at three possible dates for a potential visit this coming fall, Channel 10 reported Thursday, citing unnamed Vatican sources. There was no immediate confirmation from the Vatican. The report came a day after the pope met with US President Donald Trump in Rome. Trump on Tuesday wrapped up a Middle East visit that included Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and Saudi Arabia. In Israel, Trump indicated that he wants to pursue the “ultimate deal” and would like to help facilitate peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. He has tasked his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former real estate lawyer Jason Greenblatt with charting a course forward. Greenblatt stayed on after the trip and has been holding follow-up meetings with Israeli and Palestinian officials.

Headline: Abbas asks Washington to help end terrorist hunger strike
Hamas urged Palestinians in the West Bank to participate in a day of rage on Friday to support hunger strikers in Israeli prisons. “Hamas calls on our people to spark clashes with the Israeli occupation in a day of rage,” Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday night. Hundreds of mainly Fatah-affiliated prisoners have been hunger-striking for 39 days. A handful of Hamas-affiliated prisoners are participating in the strike as well. The hunger strikers are demanding that the Israel Prison Service end solitary confinement and detention without trial, increase visitation rights and improve amenities. The IPS says that its treatment of prisoners meets international standards. Since the start of the hunger strike, many groups have sponsored days of rage. Fatah sponsored the largest day of rage on April 28 when a couple thousand Palestinians clashed with the IDF at friction points all around the West Bank. In the past week, Palestinian officials including General Intelligence Chief Majid Faraj, Preventative Security Chief Ziad Hab al-Rih, and Civil Affairs Minister Hussein al-Sheikh along with Israeli officials have been negotiating a possible deal to end the hunger strike.

Headline: Clashes as hundreds of Palestinian protest across West Bank, Gaza
Hundreds of Palestinians took part in violent protests against Israeli troops across the West Bank and Gaza on Friday, in support of a hunger strike by security prisoners. Over all, 18 Palestinian rioters were said to be injured in the clashes with IDF soldiers. One Israeli serviceman was also lightly wounded, the army said. Palestinian youths have been taking part in occasionally violent protests against Israeli troops on an almost daily basis, as the hunger strike enters its fifth week. Friday evening will also mark the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a period which has historically seen an increase of tensions in the region. In Jericho, dozens of Palestinians attacked Israeli troops with rocks and burning tires. One soldier was lightly injured by a rock that was thrown at him. He was taken to receive medical care, the army said. In Beita, outside Nablus, hundreds of young Palestinians threw rocks and rolled burning tires at Israeli troops, who responded with rubber-coated bullets, tear gas and stun grenades, an army spokesperson said.

Headline: Jordan holds Israel responsible after Jews ‘dishonored al-Aqsa’
The Jordanian government has strongly condemned the presence of Jews at the al-Aqsa mosque complex on Wednesday after 15 Jews were arrested for bowing on the Temple Mount, where they are not allowed to pray, while others sang the Israeli national anthem. A statement from the Jordanian government slammed Israeli authorities for “allowing Jewish extremists to storm Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif,” which they said “violated the sanctity of the mosque and offended the feelings of Muslims around the world.” The Jordanian government “held Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for such a violation that encouraged settlers to ‘dishonor the mosque’ and for not stopping Knesset members’ provocative calls to storm the mosque.”

Egyptian air strikes targeted locations of the Shura Council of Mujahideen in the Libyan city of Derna, Al Arabiya sources reported. Casualties were reported among militants after Egyptian airstrikes hit extremists’ locations in Derna, Libya. This followed the televised address by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Friday said that Cairo will not “hesitate” to strike “terrorism” anywhere whether it is inside or outside his country after masked gunmen killed 28 Coptic Christians, mostly children.“Egypt will not hesitate at all to strike terrorist camps anywhere,” Sisi said during the TV address, adding that Cairo does not “conspire” against any country, and is keen to full protect its national security. Sisi did not specify any country, however, he said since the fall of the Libyan regime in 2011, Egypt was watching its borders carefully. “I say again, any camps being currently used to train terrorists, Egypt will strike,” he said. “This message is clear.” He repeated: “We will not hesitate in protecting our people,” in what he called “evil.” He also urged US President Donald Trump to “prioritize” crushing terrorism. “If Egypt fall so the rest of the world,” he warned. The Egyptian president said the country’s forces have destroyed 300 vehicles being used by “terrorist” elements in the past three months only near the western Libya border. He further warned “what happened today, will not pass like that” without punishment.

Headline: Air strike in east Syria kills 35 civilians — Observatory
An air strike on Thursday evening killed at least 35 civilians, including family members of Daesh fighters, in Al-Mayadin, a town held by the jihadists near Deir Al-Zor in eastern Syria, a war monitor reported. A spokesman for the US-led coalition fighting Daesh told Reuters that its forces had conducted strikes near Al-Mayadin on May 25 and 26 and were assessing the results.
Two days of aerial bombardment in Al-Mayadin have now killed a total of 50 people, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said.

Headline: Syrian army takes control of Damascus-Palmyra road
The Syrian army is in full control of the highway from Damascus to ancient Palmyra for the first time since 2014 after driving out militants, a monitor said on Friday. Sources in the Syrian-Democratic Forces also reported that they had taken full control of Ba’ath Dam after ISIS had withdrawn from it.Ba’ath Dam is the third largest dam in Syria. It is located 27 kilometers away from the Euphrates Dam and between the cities of Al-Tabaqa and Al-Rigga. Since troops recaptured Palmyra from the ISIS group in March, the UNESCO World Heritage site had been accessible via Syria’s third city Homs, about 150 kilometers to the west. But after major advances on Thursday night, the army now controls the direct road from the capital to Palmyra, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Iraqi officials demanded compensation from the U.S.-led coalition following an investigation into a March 17 airstrike in which the Pentagon acknowledged a U.S. bomb targeting Islamic State group fighters in Mosul set off a series of explosions that killed more than 100 civilians. However, several residents of the Mosul neighborhood told The Associated Press on Friday there were no IS fighters or explosives inside the house struck by the U.S. bomb. “We call upon the international community and especially the United States to compensate the victims,” said Nuraddin Qablan, the deputy president of the Nineveh provincial council. The U.S. should rebuild the homes of all the victims affected by the strike, he said, “so that the psychological damage will be mitigated.” The Pentagon released the March 17 findings Thursday, reporting the airstrike targeted two IS snipers in a single building, setting off a series of explosions that killed 105 civilians. The Pentagon report added that another 36 civilians may have been at the building at the time, but “there is insufficient evidence to determine their status or whereabouts at this time.”

Headline: No Protests After Dark in Ankara as Erdogan’s Crackdown Deepens
Four Turkish soldiers and a village guard were killed in two separate clashes with Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants in eastern Turkey, the Turkish military said on Thursday. Three Turkish soldiers and a village guard were killed in a clash that broke out between PKK militants and security forces in the Caldiran district of Van province, the army statement said. It said four soldiers were also wounded in the clashes. Nine PKK militants were killed in a subsequent firefight in the area, the army said. Security sources earlier said these clashes had occurred in the Dogubayazit district of neighboring Agri province. Another Turkish soldier was killed in clashes with PKK militants near a military outpost in the Semdinli district of the Hakkari province bordering Iraq, the military said.
It said one PKK militant had been killed in a subsequent operation in the region, and two had been “neutralized.” The army also said another three PKK militants believed to be preparing for an attack had been killed in airstrikes targeting the Metina region of northern Iraq earlier on Thursday. A day earlier, a special forces police officer was killed in a clash in a mountainous area of Sirnak province’s Beytussebap district, near the Iraqi border, security sources said.

Headline: Report: Iran builds new underground ballistic missile factory
Iran has built a third underground ballistic missile production factory and will keep developing its missile program, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Thursday, in a development likely to fuel tension with Arab neighbors and Washington. “Iran’s third underground factory has been built by the Guards in recent years … We will continue to further develop our missile capabilities forcefully,” Fars quoted the head of the Republican Guard’s airspace division, Amirali Hajizadeh, as saying. In January, US officials say that Iran has conducted a ballistic missile test in violation of the UN resolution put in place after the Iran nuclear deal. Officials told Fox News that the test occurred outside Semnan, about 140 miles east of Tehran, on Sunday. The missile in question was the Khorramshahr medium-range ballistic missile, which the officials said flew 600 miles before exploding, in a failed test of a reentry vehicle. The test was in direct violation of UN resolution 2231, which stated that Iran could not conduct such acts.

Headline: New Taliban attack on Afghan base kills 15 soldiers
At least 15 Afghan soldiers were killed when Taliban fighters attacked their army base in the southern province of Kandahar, the Defense Ministry said, in the second such assault on Western-backed forces this week. The attack in Shah Wali Kot district late on Thursday came just three days after 10 Afghan soldiers were killed when Taliban militants stormed another base in the same area.
The assault, mounted by hundreds of insurgents, highlights a growing Taliban offensive in Kandahar, where security has relatively improved in recent years under the leadership of police chief and regional strongman General Abdul Raziq. “The Taliban launched a coordinated assault on an army base last night (Thursday) in Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province,” ministry spokesman Dawlat Waziri said. “Fifteen Afghan army soldiers were martyred and five others wounded… but the base was under the control of Afghan forces.” A provincial official who spoke on the condition of anonymity gave a higher death toll of 20.

Headline: Haftar forces seize rival airbase in south Libya
Forces led by Libyan military strongman Khalifa Haftar on Thursday seized control of the Tamenhant Airbase in the south of the country from rival forces, a spokesman said. “Our forces… took full control of Tamenhant airbase in the south of Libya,” said Khalifa Al Obeidi, spokesman of Haftar’s self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA). An LNA officer, who declined to be named, said Haftar’s forces had pounded the airbase on previous days and surrounded fighters from the Third Force militia. Haftar’s forces persuaded the fighters to evacuate the airbase, which they did, allowing the LNA to take over the facility without any resistance, said the officer. The Third Force is loyal to the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) not recognised by the LNA. Last week, Third Force fighters attacked Brak Al Shati airbase, also in southern Libya, which is controlled by Haftar forces, killing 140 people, including civilians. The attack was condemned by the United Nations, the European Union and the GNA. The United Nations and Human Rights Watch said summary executions may have taken place at Brak Al Shati.

Headline: Fierce clashes break out in Libyan capital Tripoli
Heavy clashes between rival factions erupted in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Friday, with loud explosions and heavy artillery fire heard since the early morning. The fighting appeared to be caused by a push to regain territory by armed groups linked to a self-declared, Islamist-leaning “national salvation government” that was set up in 2014. It has been largely displaced by the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) that arrived in Tripoli last year. Headline: After Brief Deployment, Brazilian Troops Recalled From Streets Of Capital
Within 24 hours of their deployment in Brasilia, Brazilian troops left the streets of the capital on Thursday — gone from their positions guarding government buildings almost as quickly as they’d manned them. The decision, in both cases, came down from President Michel Temer. The embattled politician ordered the military deployed to help quell the massive protests against his tenure Wednesday — protests that turned violent as demonstrators clashed with riot police and smashed the windows of some public buildings. By the end of the day, roughly 50 people had been injured and one building set aflame, according to Reuters.Reuters reports that since last week, no fewer than 15 petitions to impeach Temer have been filed — but the wire service notes that as long as another Temer ally remains speaker of Brazil’s lower house of congress, those petitions are unlikely to come to a vote. Though Deutsche Welle notes the deployment of about 1,500 troops had been originally intended to last a week, he revoked the order by midday Thursday, citing a “halt to acts of destruction and violence and the subsequent reestablishment of law and order.”

The Philippines mobilized attack helicopters and special forces to drive Islamic State-linked rebels out of a besieged southern city on Thursday, with six soldiers killed in street combat amid heavy resistance. Ground troops hid behind walls and armored vehicles and exchanged volleys of gunfire with Maute group fighters, shooting into elevated positions occupied by militants who have held Marawi City on Mindanao island for two days. In the first unofficial challenge to Beijing over China’s domination of disputed waters in the South China Sea since President Trump took office, a US navy warship sailed within 12 nautical miles of an artificial island built up by China in the South China Sea according to the WSJ. The navy vessel, the USS Dewey, traveled close to the Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands, among a string of islets, reefs and shoals over which China has territorial disputes with its neighbors. The “freedom of navigation” operation which in the past has infuriated Beijing, comes as Trump is seeking Beijing’s cooperation to rein in ally North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs. Territorial waters are generally defined by U.N. convention as extending at most 12 nautical miles from a state’s coastline. China’s claims to the South China Sea, which sees about $5 trillion in ship-borne trade pass every year, are challenged by Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, as well as Taiwan. The U.S. patrol, the first of its kind since October, marks the latest attempt to counter what Washington sees as Beijing’s efforts to limit freedom of navigation in the strategic waters. One official said it was the first operation near a land feature which was included in a ruling last year against China by an international arbitration court in The Hague. The court invalidated China’s claim to sovereignty over large swathes of the South China Sea.

Headline: Egypt Coptic Christians killed in bus attack
Gunmen have attacked a bus carrying Coptic Christians in central Egypt, killing at least 28 people and wounding 25 others, officials say. The bus was traveling to the Monastery of St Samuel the Confessor, 135km (85 miles) south of Cairo, from Minya province when it came under fire. No group immediately said it was behind the attack. But Islamic State (IS) militants have targeted Copts several times in recent months, and vowed to do so again. Two suicide bombings at Palm Sunday services at churches in the northern cities of Alexandria and Tanta on 9 April left 46 people dead. Headline: Sri Lanka landslides, floods death toll rises to 91; over 100 missing
Floods and landslides in Sri Lanka have killed at least 91 people while more than 100 are missing after torrential rain, officials said on Friday, as soldiers fanned out in boats and in helicopters to help with rescue operations. The early rainy season downpours have forced hundreds of people from their homes across the Indian Ocean island. “There are at least five landslides reported in several places in Kalutara,” said police spokesman Priyantha Jayakody, referring to the worst-hit district on the island’s west coast. “Rescue operations are still taking place.” The disaster management center said 91 people had been killed and 110 were missing. The center said 38 deaths were reported from Kalutara while 46 were reported from the central southern district of Ratnapura.Sri Lankan meteorology officials said Thursday’s rains are the worst since 2003 and they expected more rain in the coming days as the South-west monsoon condition had established over the country.
