March 20, 2019 I put my video on the Jewish feasts that were fulfilled exactly on the day the feasts were supposed to be fulfilled by Christ. In the March 20, 2019 video below I showed you exactly how each feast days was in fact fulfilled. I then pointed to the next feast which is the 5th feast called Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets. I pointed out in my video that each year as the Feast of Trumpets comes around the Church should be on extra watch because it is possible that on that day, (Feast of Trumpets) Jesus may take His Church home. You will see my say that if the Lord does not take His Church home in 2019 than we need to again pay attention to that feast day in 2020, and so on. The point I make in my video is since Jesus did fulfill the first 4 feast days on the very day than we should expect Christ will pick up where He left off and on that next feast day (Feast of Trumpets), He will take His Church home. The only question that remains at this point is what is the year? There is no doubt we are very close to this Feast of Trumpets fulfillment by Christ as we have been witnessing all the last day signs Jesus warned us about. Never before has one single generation seen the rebirth of Israel and all the last day signs all at the same time. Look at what Jesus stated in Matthew 24 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

IDF fighter jets attacked a Hamas terrorist weapons manufacturing site in Gaza overnight Thursday. The attacked components were used by Hamas for research and development of weapons. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that “the attack was carried out in response to the firing of incendiary balloons into Israeli territory. The IDF will respond strongly to terrorist attempts from the Gaza Strip.” On Thursday, firefighters dealt with four fires that broke out in Israeli communities located near the Gaza border as a result of incendiary balloons launched from the Gaza Strip. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met with Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Tuesday and discussed last month’s war between Israel and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. The two terror group leaders discussed how to learn from the latest war with Israel, according to a statement by Hezbollah Media Relations reported on the terror group’s Al-Manar media website. Nasrallah and the Hamas delegation spoke about ways to help the Palestinians through “utilizing all capabilities in a bid to reach the final and decisive victory,” said the statement. The report said both sides stressed the close relations between the two terror groups and their importance to the “Axis of Resistance.” June 30, 2021
Pro-Iranian militias on Monday evening fired several shells at a US base in eastern Syria’s Al-Omar oil field, causing damage but no casualties, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, according to AFP. The development came after the US launched air strikes overnight Sunday against three targets it said were used by pro-Iran groups in eastern Syria and western Iraq. In retaliation for Monday evening’s shelling, “heavy artillery has been fired by the (US-led) international coalition” on the town of Al-Mayadeen, controlled by Iranian militias, the Observatory said. Celebrations erupted on the streets of the capital of Ethiopia’s Tigray region this week when rebel fighters took over the city, a pivotal moment in a brutal eight-month long conflict. Crowds of jubilant locals waving the red and yellow Tigrayan flag cheered, clapped and danced in Mekele as they welcomed the returning Tigray Defence Force (TDF) soldiers. The rebels marched into the city on Monday after local officials and federal government troops pulled out, and the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed later declared a unilateral ceasefire. Since marching on Mekele, the TDF has seized more control of territory in Tigray, Ethiopia’s northernmost region, and vowed to drive out all its “enemies” — federal soldiers and their allies, notably from neighbouring Eritrea and Ethiopia’s Amhara region. The government in Addis Ababa has for its part called on the rebels to adhere to its unilateral ceasefire. July 2, 2021
The Southwest is suffering through one of its worst droughts on record amid a critical reduction in the amount of water from snowpack runoff. Roughly 9.8% of the U.S. is currently in what climate experts refer to as exceptional drought, the most severe designation, which is characterized by widespread crop and pasture losses and shortages in reservoirs, streams and wells amounting to water emergencies. About 44% of the nation is experiencing some level of drought, with a further 13% currently affected by drier-than-normal conditions. The current drought is on pace to be one of the worst ever. One of the hardest-hit states is California, home to about 70,000 farms and ranches with a combined output of about $50 billion a year. The dairy industry accounts for the largest chunk of the state’s agricultural revenue, followed by almonds and grapes. The price of feed grains has risen in the past year to its highest levels since 2013, when another persistent and widespread drought tested the nation’s farm economy. It is another example of how economic strains are compounded by secondary effects of extended droughts. When the agriculture industry struggles with higher costs and depleted production, the prices consumers pay for its food tend to rise. Several factors contributed to the recent surge in overall inflation, including an unexpected rise in demand and disruptions in supply and distribution chains. July 1, 2021
The Canadian village of Lytton, which set an all-time national heat record this week, has been engulfed by fast-moving wildfires, officials said Thursday, July 1, 2021. Mayor Jan Polderman said the whole place is on fire, adding that two people were reported dead. Around 486 sudden deaths were reported across the province of British Columbia amid a record-breaking heat wave, with the toll expected to continue rising. More than 1 000 people in and around the town were evacuated late Wednesday, June 30, as the fire spread through the community. As of Friday, July 2, there were 62 new fires reported in the province, and the cause is now under investigation, B.C. Premier John Horgan told reporters. The fires were triggered by a record-breaking heat wave, which has been affecting the Pacific Northwest. The heat was responsible for Lytton setting temperature records for three consecutive days this week, with the highest being 49.6 °C (121.3 °F). B.C. Coroners Service had received reports of 486 sudden deaths between June 25 and June 30, which is double the average number expected. July 2, 2021
Very heavy rain, strong winds, and intense hailstorms affecting parts of central Europe during the second half of June 2021 left more than 66 000 ha (163 090 acres) of crops damaged or destroyed. The figure doubled within just a few days and it still might rise as damage assessment continues. After the first surveys by crop insurance company Vereinigte Hagel (VVaG), they now expect damage of about 20 to 23 million euros, which is more than a double compared to the beginning of last week. The worst affected countries are France, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. July 2, 2021

In my ministry over these many years I have tried to warn you what you would see concerning the food prices skyrocketing. My warnings come from Christ Jesus, I am only repeating what He had to us was going to happen just before He returns. Of course rising food costs are part of the last days signs.
“They haven’t gone up. They’ve almost doubled,” said Nick Rando, owner of an Italian restaurant in Natick, Massachusetts. Rando said that in January, red meat and steak cost him $7.35 a pound. “Last week, it was $13.20 a pound.”
People in Massachusetts have been complaining about the rising costs of other food products like produce, meat and prepared foods. But this phenomenon isn’t just happening in one state. According to the National Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price of cereal and bakery items have risen by five percent. Fruit and vegetable prices have risen by one percent and dairy products are up by 0.6 percent.
Researchers say oxygen levels have dropped in hundreds of lakes across the United States and Europe over the last 40 years.
A new study suggests the oxygen loss can lead to more fish dying and increased algae growth.
Scientists examined the temperature and the amount of dissolved oxygen in nearly 400 lakes. Dissolved oxygen is the amount of oxygen gas contained in water. They discovered widespread drops in oxygen levels.
The study recently appeared in the publication Nature. It found that dissolved oxygen decreased an average of 5.5 percent in the surface water of the lakes and 18.6 percent in the deep water.
The researchers say their findings suggest that warming temperatures and decreased water clarity from human activity are causing oxygen levels to fall.

Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq agreed to bolster security and economic cooperation at a tripartite summit on Sunday that saw an Egyptian head of state visit Iraq for the first time in three decades. The visits by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II came as Iraq seeks to move closer to Arab allies of the United States in the Middle East. Iraq is also seeking to establish itself as a mediator between Arab countries and Iran, after reportedly hosting talks in April between Tehran and Riyadh. Sissi and Abdullah met Iraqi President Barham Saleh and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi, with Saleh saying the encounter was “an eloquent message amid enormous regional challenges.” The summit held between Kadhemi and his guests broached regional issues, as well as ways of bolstering cooperation between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt in the fields of security, energy and trade, according to a joint statement released at the end of the meeting. The Lebanese Army was widely deployed in the streets of Tripoli in northern Lebanon on Sunday after a night of bloody protests. Nine soldiers and nine civilians were injured as a result of riots. Protesters tried to storm the homes of politicians, including that of MP Mohammed Kabbara, whose guards fired to repel the protesters as demonstrators threw a petrol bomb at the entrance to the building. Army units were stationed in front of government institutions in Tripoli, while roads were reopened to traffic. Eight people were injured in Sidon. Protesters also crossed the boundaries of the central bank’s offices in the two cities and fired petrol bombs. According to eyewitnesses in Tripoli, the army used “excessive force” against the protesters, which was recorded by CCTV cameras at the scene. There were reports that the army quickly dispersed the protests due to “fears of an expansion in the spark of the protests.” On Sunday, tensions simmered, with protests limited to temporarily blocking some roads in the Bekaa region, but the army reopened them. Protesters also blocked some roads in Sidon. June 28, 2021
Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted and destroyed six explosive-laden drones and four ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia toward the Kingdom’s southern region within 48 hours, state TV reported on Sunday. The Arab coalition said the drones and missiles were targeting the city of Khamis Mushait, adding“the efficiency of the air defenses thwarted all hostile attempts toward Saudi Arabia.” The UAE strongly condemned the attack, saying it reflects the Houthis’ blatant defiance of the international community and its disregard for all international laws and norms. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation urged the international community to take “an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated actions that target vital and civil facilities, the security of the Kingdom, energy supplies and global economic stability,” adding that the continuation of these attacks in recent times is a dangerous escalation and new evidence of these militias’ efforts to undermine security and stability in the region. For the past couple months there’s been persisting reports and rumors that Saudi Arabia is preparing to restore diplomatic ties and normalized relations with the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad, coming off a decade of war in which the Saudis spearheaded efforts alongside the US and other allies to topple him. As we detailed in early May the first major step toward detente came when Saudi Arabia’s powerful intelligence chief, Gen Khalid Humaidan, traveled to Damascus to meet with his Syrian counterpart. The two sides broke off relations since near the start of the war in 2011, especially as it became clear the Saudis were a key part of the Western allied push for regime change, through covert support to anti-Assad insurgents and jihadists which included regular weapons shipments. Essentially America’s Gulf allies are fast coming to the conclusion that Assad is here to stay, and that pragmatism means opening up relations; however, Washington doesn’t see it that way – as its prior long-running covert war has turned to an economic war of economic strangulation and choking off national resources by occupying the oil and gas rich northeast. On Friday, a top US official threatened regional allies with sanctions should they get too friendly with Assad. The Middle East Eye details the warning as follows: On a call to reporters on Friday, Joey Hood, acting assistant secretary of state for Near East affairs, said Washington’s opposition to the Syrian government would not change unless there was a “major change in behavior” in Damascus. “With regard to others, who may be considering making moves, we are asking them to consider very carefully the atrocities committed by the regime on the Syrian people over the last decade, as well as the regime’s continuing efforts to deny much of the country access to humanitarian aid and security,” Hood said. At least four members of Shi’ite militias were killed in “defensive precision airstrikes” which US President Joe Biden ordered against facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in the Iraq-Syria border region on Sunday night. According to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby, the targets were selected “because these facilities are utilized by Iran-backed militias that are engaged in unmanned aerial vehicle attacks against US personnel and facilities in Iraq.” Specifically, the strikes targeted “operational and weapons storage facilities at two locations in Syria and one location in Iraq, both of which lie close to the border between those countries,” said Kirby. “Several Iran-backed militia groups, including Kata’ib Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, used these facilities,” he added. Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, a Shi’ite militant group which was targeted in the airstrikes, warned that it would now be in “open war” against the United States, threatening to target US aircraft in Iraqi airspace. Iraqi Commander-in-Chief Yehia Rasool condemned the US airstrikes on Monday, saying that the strikes represent “a blatant and unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty and Iraqi national security in accordance with all international conventions.” June 28, 2021
At a moment the clock is said to be winding down toward a nuclear deal in Vienna, with both sides expressing increased frustration that things are dragging on too long, Tehran is playing hardball with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Once again it’s over access to the country’s nuclear sites according to prior arrangements: “The speaker of Iran’s parliament said on Sunday Tehran will never hand over images from inside of some Iranian nuclear sites to the U.N. nuclear watchdog as a monitoring agreement with the agency had expired, Iranian state media reported,” Reuters writes Sunday. In February Iran had struck a deal for a three month extension which allowed IAEA inspectors access to remote cameras and images from sensitive facilities. “The agreement has expired… any of the information recorded will never be given to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the data and images will remain in the possession of Iran,” said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf. Over the weekend, just as the extension is set to expire, the IAEA demanded an “immediate response” over the “possible continued collection, recording and retention of data.” But Iran’s position is that it’s fulfilled its obligations and therefore is not required to comply with such a request. One day after a reckless maneouver by a UK warship sailing just off the Crimea coast nearly started a hot war, Reuters reports that Russia warned Britain on Thursday that it would bomb British naval vessels in the Black Sea if there were any further provocative actions by the British navy off the coast of Russia-annexed Crimea. Additionally, Russia summoned the British ambassador in Moscow for a formal diplomatic scolding after the warship breached what the Kremlin says are its territorial waters but which Britain claims belong to Ukraine. Russia said the UK destroyer had ventured as far as 3 km (2 miles) into Russian waters near Cape Fiolent, a landmark on Crimea’s southern coast near the port of Sevastopol, headquarters of the Russian Navy’s Black Sea fleet. Britain’s BBC released footage from the ship showing a Russian coast guard warning that he would shoot if the British ship did not change course. “If you don’t change the course, I’ll fire,” a heavily accented Russian voice said in English to the British ship. The BBC said shots were fired and that as many as 20 Russian aircraft were “buzzing” the British ship. Britain said the shots were part of a Russian gunnery exercise, however this fake narrative quickly fell apart after Russia released footage filmed from a Russian SU-24 bomber flying close to the British ship. Britain disputed the Russian version of events, with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab calling it “predictably inaccurate”. No warning shots had been fired and no bombs had been dropped in the path of the Royal Navy destroyer Defender, the UK said even though witness accounts clearly refuted the UK’s official misrepresentation of what actually happened. For the first time in the show’s 51-year history, Sesame Street featured two gay, married dads in the June 16 episode entitled, “Family Day.” This is not the first time the creators of “Sesame Street” have presented homosexuality in their show. In 2018, a rumor circulated that puppets Bert and Ernie were a gay couple. Former Sesame Street writer Mark Saltzman, who is homosexual himself, told Queerty, “I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert & Ernie, they were.” Now, however, Sesame Street has formally introduced a human gay couple on their children’s show. “Sesame Street has always been a welcoming place of diversity and inclusion,” Alan Muraoka, who plays Alan on the show, posted on Facebook. “I am so honored and humbled to have co-directed this important and milestone episode,” he added. “Love is love, and we are so happy to add this special family to our Sesame family. A makeshift bomb exploded inside a Catholic church in the city of Beni in DR Congo’s conflict-plagued east on Sunday, injuring two women just an hour before a children’s confirmation ceremony was due to be held. The attack marks the first time a Catholic building has been targeted in the region, which has declared a “state of siege” due to rising violence from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militia accused of killing thousands. The head of police in Beni’s town hall Narcisse Muteba Kashale told AFP that the explosion occurred at 6:00 am (0400 GMT), and that the homemade bomb had been “set up for an ambush”. Beni’s vicar general Laurent Sondirya said two women were injured in the blast, which went off shortly before crowds were due to start gathering for the confirmation ceremony. “They were targeting a large crowd because the ceremony would bring together children, their parents and the faithful,” he told AFP. The latest violence came just a day after another bomb exploded next to a petrol station on the outskirts of Beni without causing any damage. June 27, 2021
By now, it’s become quite evident that the western half of the U.S. is facing one of the worst megadroughts in decades. We’ve spoken about fallow land and drying up reservoirs, but the question remains what happens next? Well, it’s not great, and it’s straight out of the playbook from the 1930s Great Depression when the same parts of the U.S. were transformed into a desert, triggering a grasshopper plague. A.P. News said federal agriculture officials are set to launch one of the largest grasshopper-killing campaigns in three decades amid an outbreak. The insects belong to the suborder Caelifera family and are probably the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects. These creatures survive and multiply rapidly in drought or very dry conditions and will decimate crops. If extreme drought conditions continue in parts of the U.S., harvests this year could be severely impacted. The United States Department of Agriculture has published a map of the grasshoppers spreading across arid regions of the western half of the U.S. Agriculture officials had seen this year’s infestation coming after a 2020 survey found dense concentrations of adult grasshoppers across about 55,000 square miles (141 ,000 square kilometers) in the West. A 2021 grasshopper “hazard map” shows densities of at least 15 insects per square yard (meter) in large areas of Montana, Wyoming, and Oregon and portions of Idaho, Arizona, Colorado, and Nebraska. -A.P. US President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign promise to reopen the US consulate in East Jerusalem that was closed down during the former US President Donald Trump era. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett opposes the move reports Channel 12 correspondent Amit Segal. The East Jerusalem consulate, which was initially established to serve the ‘Palestinian’ population exclusively, would erase Trump’s historic accomplishment of recognizing a united Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. A consulate in East Jerusalem would put relations between Washington and Jerusalem eight years back to the Obama era when Washington recognized Tel Aviv, not Jerusalem, as Israel’s capital. After Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Biden now needs Israel’s consent to reopen the consulate. But according to the report, Bennett also would rather avoid embarrassing Biden. The issue is currently under discussion between the two parties. June 22, 2021
Hamas terror chief Yahya Sinwar warned United Nations envoy Tor Wennesland on Monday the terror group would resume violence if Israel failed to allow $30 million in Qatari donations to be transferred to Gaza, Israel’s public broadcaster reported. The report by Kan came hours after Sinwar told reporters that talks with U.N. Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Wennesland about upholding the ceasefire with Israel had broken down. “This was a bad meeting and it was totally not positive,” Sinwar said. “The meeting with the U.N. delegation was thorough and they listened to us. But unfortunately, there are no indications of intentions to solve the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip,” he continued. He added he would convene a meeting of all Palestinian factions later in the day. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday warned Hamas that Israel’s “patience has run out.” “Our enemies will get to know the rules: We will not tolerate violence and a slow drip [of rockets],” Bennett said. “Our patience has run out.” “The residents of the Gaza periphery are not second-class citizens,” he said. He also added Israel sought no harm against Palestinians living under Hamas’ rule in Gaza. “There is no intention to harm those who do not rise up to kill us, and we do not hate those who are held hostage by a cruel and violent terrorist organization,” Bennett said. A “bomb-laden drone” attacked US forces at a base near Baghdad International Airport, according to sources in Iraq. This area is called Victory Base and has been targeted in the past. Officials disputed the pro-Iranian claims, saying news of the attack was disinformation. The area allegedly targeted is called “Victory Base” by pro-Iranian groups and media, and has been targeted in the past. In fact Camp Victory closed down in December 2011 when Operation Iraqi Freedom ended. What is now at the Baghdad airport is the Department of State operated Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC). Hundreds of US and coalition troops are co located at the BDSC. “Sabereen News, a Telegram news channel associated with the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units, better known as Hashd al-Shaabi, reported that two fixed-wing combat drones laden with explosives had struck targets inside Victory base early on Tuesday,” Iran’s Press TV reported. That Iran reported the attack via this channel means Tehran is likely behind the attack, and the report is a confirmation that it happened or that Iran approved it. How official sources said no attack actually took place and that the reports are disinformation. “The development came less than two days after an unnamed Iraqi security force said a Katyusha rocket had landed at Ain al-Asad Airbase in Iraq’s western province of Anbar, located about 160 km. west of the capital Baghdad, without causing casualties,” the report said. Iran’s president-elect said Monday there are “no obstacles” to restoring ties with Saudi Arabia, but said he is not willing to negotiate over Tehran’s ballistic missiles or support for regional militia. Ebrahim Raisi made the comment Monday in a news conference with journalists, his first since winning Friday’s election in a landslide. “There are no obstacles from Iran’s side to re-opening embassies… there are no obstacles to ties with Saudi Arabia,” he said He called himself “a defender of human rights” after being asked directly about his involvement in the 1988 mass executions of some 5,000 people. “The US is obliged to lift all oppressive sanctions against Iran,” he said. Raisi was part of a so-called “death panel” that sentenced political prisoners to death at the end of the 1980s Iran-Iraq war. Raisi said his country’s foreign policy will not be limited by the 2015 nuclear agreement, in his first news conference since his victory in Friday’s election. “Our foreign policy will not be limited to the nuclear deal,” Raisi said in Tehran. “We will have interaction with the world.” Meanwhile, Tehran warned Wednesday that Washington’s seizure of 33 websites run by Iran-linked media was “not constructive” for ongoing talks on bringing the United States back into a landmark nuclear deal. The US Justice Department said it had seized 33 Iranian government-controlled media websites, as well as three of the Iraqi group Kataeb Hezbollah, which it said were hosted on US-owned domains in violation of sanctions. Just a week after the Biden-Putin summit in Geneva, Moscow on Tuesday, June 22, provided details of Russia’s largest Pacific sea and air maneuver in decades. US air and sea units were rapidly scrambled in response. The Russian maneuver, opposite US shores, was described by the Russian Defense Ministry as “practicing the tasks of destroying an aircraft carrier strike group of a mock enemy.” Admir Viktor Kravchenko said that the Russian navy had not conducted a maneuver on this scale since 1991. Taking part were 20 warships, including submarines and logistic support vessels and a similar number of fighters and bombers. A simulated cruise missile attack was carried by one of the Russian naval strike groups operating 480km from a second in the role of the enemy. The US Navy responded by scrambling the USS Vinson carrier and the USS Dewey destroyer into the waters off Hawaii for close surveillance of the Russian maneuver. Also deployed were were F-22 fighters. Marines, counter-submarine units and the Coast Guard. The air and naval base at Pearl Harbor was placed on alert. Both during the Russian war game and when it ended, US Air Force bombers and F-22 fighters were lofted opposite the Russian planes whenever they came anywhere near the American coast. A tornado killed one person in Mascouche near Montreal in southern Quebec, Canada, the deputy premier and minister of public safety confirmed Monday, June 21, 2021. Several dozen buildings were damaged and many others were injured. Dozens of people were cleaning up debris from their damaged homes in the aftermath of a tornado in Mascouche on Monday. On some residential streets between Route 125 and Highway 25, shingles were missing from roofs, power lines were downed, trees split down the middle, and trampolines suspended on sheds as firefighters worked to block off downed lines. Meanwhile, Severe storms pummeled parts of France over the weekend into Monday, June 21, 2021, bringing flooding rain, giant hailstones, and a tornado that resulted in damages and one person missing. Around 44 000 lightning strikes were recorded. In Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, a tornado inflicted damage to a chuch in Indre-et-Loire village. Fallen stoneworks collapsed into cars underneath, smashing windscreens. Trees and vines were also ravaged. No injuries were reported. In Vercel-Villedieu-le-Camp, hailstones the size of tennis balls wrecked through car windows. Heavy rains triggered flooding while strong winds caused material damage in Essonne in Ile-de-France, and in Reims, Grand Est. Widespread flooding submerged roads in the northeastern city of Reims as downpours continued. Power outages also occurred in some areas. June 22, 2021

Al-Masirah TV, a Yemeni TV channel headquartered in Beirut which was founded and is owned by the Ansarullah-Houthi movement, aired a video last Tuesday titled: “From Yemen… Fire Your Rocket Towards Tel Aviv.” The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported on the video, describing it as an animated video showing money entering a collection box, which is connected by electric wires to a rocket launch-pad. A Qassam rocket is launched, overpassing Yemeni and Palestinian flags, and hits an iron-made dome marked with an Israeli flag. The dome is completely destroyed. MEMRI described the video as a fundraising campaign to support “Palestine.” The Houthis were classified as a terrorist group by the US State Department but this designation was revoked by the Biden administration one month after entering office. In March, the Biden administration restored $73 million in US aid to Houthi-controlled northern Yemen that the Trump administration suspended. It was unclear what procedures are in place that would ensure that the funds are not usurped for terrorism. The Biden administration also restored aid to the Palestinian Authority in seeming contravention of the Taylor Force Act and also authorized hundreds of millions of dollars of aid to Gaza while admitting that the money could end up being used by Hamas to attack Israel. The IDF struck a number of military sites belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night in response to 20 fires sparked by incendiary balloons earlier in the day. “The IDF is prepared for all scenarios, including the resumption of hostilities, in the face of continued terrorist acts from the Gaza Strip,” said the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit in a statement. Hamas responded to the strikes on Tuesday night, calling the strikes “a failed attempt to stop our people’s solidarity and resistance with the Holy City, and to cover up the unprecedented state of confusion for the Zionist establishment in organizing the so-called ‘Flag March.'” The strikes come after dozens of Palestinians rioted and clashed with the IDF along the Gaza border on Tuesday, as tensions rose surrounding a flag march through the Old City of Jerusalem. Despite the threats, the march took place with relatively little violence. Some clashes were reported between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in east Jerusalem and the West Bank, but they had largely ended by Tuesday evening. June 18, 2021
Clashes broke out between Border Police and Muslim worshipers at the Temple Mount on Friday, Israel Police said in a statement. Video footage taken at the compound shows Palestinians throwing rocks at a unit of Border Police officers, who in turn responded with firing off rubber bullets to quell the unrest. Nine injuries have so far been reported, and in one video a man could be seen being carried off by Red Crescent volunteers. Israel Police notes that the clashes began after Friday afternoon prayers, when several hundred worshipers made their way into the compound via the Chain Gate. After the prayers ceased, several dozen youth began to throw stones at the police officers stationed at the entrance to the compound. The Jerusalem District Commander of the Border Police force ordered officers to locate suspects involved in the disturbing the peace within the violent clashes. So far, some 14 have been apprehended and taken in for questioning, according to police. June 18, 2021
Iran announced Tuesday that it has produced and stockpiled 6.5 kilograms (14.3 pounds) of 60-percent enriched uranium, in addition to 108 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20 percent purity. Purity of 90 percent is the level of enriched uranium used in producing nuclear weapons. Uranium enriched to 60 percent purity is a just a short step from the 90 percent purity required to fuel nuclear weapons. “Under parliament’s law … the Atomic Energy Organization was supposed to produce 120 kg of 20 percent enriched uranium in a year,” said government spokesperson Ali Rabiei, according to state media quoted by Reuters. He pointed out, however, that nuclear plant workers have apparently outdone themselves. “According to the latest report we have now produced 108 kg of 20 percent uranium in the past five months,” Rabiei said. “In the area of 60 percent uranium production, in the short time that has elapsed . . . about 6.5 kg has been produced,” Rabiei added. At the conclusion of a meeting Wednesday on the sidelines of a summit in Geneva between US President Joe Biden and Russia’s President Vladimir, Biden told reporters that the two world leaders agreed to work together so that Iran does not achieve the capacity to create a nuclear weapon. he added that the two agreed to “renew the diplomatic channels between the powers.” Any chance of reviving the deal “will have to await the formation of a new Iranian government,” said Rafael Grossi, head of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to Reuters, quoting an interview with the Italian daily news outlet, La Repubblica. Since the beginning of NATO’s official troop withdrawal from Afghanistan on May 1, the Islamist militant group has taken over at least 27 districts from Afghan forces, and the number is rapidly increasing. The Taliban are intensifying attacks across Afghanistan to gain more territory ahead of NATO’s troop withdrawal in September. The militant group now controls vast swaths of land. Heavy fighting in many districts in recent weeks has inflicted heavy losses on both Taliban and government forces. On Wednesday, more than 20 Afghan commandos were killed in the northern Faryab province as they tried to regain control of Dawlat Abad district, which Taliban militants had seized 10 days ago. The group’s attempts to take over district capitals have also resulted in civilian casualties. Many locals in these areas are fleeing for their lives to safe havens. According to authorities and residents, Taliban fighters have destroyed government buildings in some district capitals after capturing the cities for a short period of time and then withdrawing. Khan Abad, in Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province district, fell to the Taliban in May, but the militants were subsequently pushed back by government forces. June 17, 2021
US Producer Prices soared 6.6% YoY in May – the fastest pace on record. This is the 13th straight month of MoM PPI increases. Over 40 percent of the May increase in the index for final demand services is attributable to margins for automobile retailing (partial), which jumped 27.3 percent. The indexes for truck transportation of freight; apparel, footwear, and accessories retailing; portfolio management; chemicals and allied products wholesaling; and hardware, building materials, and supplies retailing also rose. Conversely, margins for food retailing fell 3.6 percent. The indexes for traveler accommodation services and for airline passenger services also decreased. Within the index for final demand goods in May, prices for nonferrous metals rose 6.9 percent. The indexes for beef and veal; diesel fuel; gasoline; hay, hayseeds, and oilseeds; and motor vehicles also advanced. In contrast, prices for fresh fruits and melons declined 1.9 percent. The indexes for primary basic organic chemicals and for asphalt also moved lower. Food & Energy costs were the biggest drivers of the surge. June 15, 2021

Benjamin Netanyahu’s record-breaking term as prime minister ended on Sunday night when the Knesset voted to approve the new government formed by Yamina leader Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid. The new government passed at 8:55 with the support of 60 MKs, while 59 opposed it. Ra’am (United Arab List) MK Saeed Alharomi abstained. In the address, Bennett said his government would prevent the nuclearization of Iran and would not permit rocket fire on Israeli citizens from the Gaza Strip. Bennett thanked US President Joe Biden’s administration for its support during the war in Gaza and pledged to maintain bipartisan support in the US. Bennett made a point of starting his address by praising outgoing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his hard work over the years for the State of Israel and his wife, Sara, for her dedication. Netanyahu deserved credit for his outreach to Ra’am head Mansour Abbas, he said. The new government would take unprecedented steps to reach out to the Arab sector, he vowed. Lapid canceled his planned speech and merely said the behavior of MKs in the outgoing government reminded him, his mother and all citizens of Israel why it was so important to replace them. As the new government was being sworn in in Israel, Hamas announced that its new prime minister assumed office in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The new premier, Issam al-Da’alis, succeeded Dr. Mohammed Awad, who resigned after two years in the job. It was not clear why Awad submitted his resignation. The handover ceremony for the Hamas prime minister was held on Sunday. The Hamas announcement came shortly after Egypt decided to call off a meeting of Palestinian factions in Cairo to discuss the formation of a Palestinian unity government. The announcement is likely to intensify tensions between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, which has previously expressed opposition to the formation of a Hamas government in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, The Palestinian Authority is unhappy with the recent rapprochement between Egypt and Hamas, Palestinian sources said on Monday. Hamas on Sunday threatened to take military action if the Jerusalem flag march goes ahead on Tuesday as planned, Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Monday. Citing the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, the report said that Hamas conveyed a warning to Israel through Egyptian and United Nations mediators that if the event was not canceled, the Palestinian “resistance” would take actions similar to those it took in May, during “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” when more than 4,000 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli population centers. “Instructions were issued to the missile units to prepare,” Hamas reportedly announced, while also calling on all Palestinian factions to hold a “Day of Rage” in “all parts of historic Palestine” on Tuesday, with an emphasis on the Old City of Jerusalem, to “protect” the Al-Aqsa mosque and prevent Jews from entering the Temple Mount complex. At least 13 people, including two medical staff, have been killed and several wounded in two separate artillery attacks in the northern Syrian town of Afrin controlled by Turkey-backed fighters, activists and an aid group said on Sunday. The first attack struck a residential area, while the second hit a hospital shortly afterwards, civil defence sources told Reuters news agency. Video footage on social media showed casualties amid the ruins of the al-Shifa hospital, which went out of service after the attack. It was not immediately clear who was behind the shelling, which reportedly came from areas where Syrian government troops and Kurdish-led fighters are deployed. The governor of Turkey’s Hatay province, across the border from Afrin, and Turkey’s defence ministry also said the attack killed 13 civilians and injured 27, adding that it involved rocket and artillery shelling of the hospital. The governor’s office blamed the attack on Syrian Kurdish groups. “The shelling targeted several areas of the town and hit the hospital,” Syrian Observatory Director Rami Abdurrahman was quoted as saying by AFP news agency. The artillery fire originated from northern Aleppo province “where militia faithful to Iran and the [Syrian] regime are deployed, near the zones run by Kurdish forces”, he added. June 13, 2021
Ankara has acted to invoke the 2018 security pact that President Tayyip Erdogan signed with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas – on the same lines as Turkey’s intervention in the Libyan conflict. This step, taken on the quiet, was approved by the National Security Council in Ankara last Wednesday, June 9 and published in Turkey’s Official Gazette the next day. The accord provides for Turkey’s “Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy” to train Palestinian security forces: “Short- and long-term projects would be implemented to increase the capabilities of Palestinian law enforcement forces by providing training, consultation and technical assistance.” Also included is an intelligence-sharing clause between Turkey and the Palestinian Authority. The accord goes on to cover another highly sensitive issue: It attaches the Palestinians to the internationally condemned Turkish-Libyan agreement which aimed to illicitly partition eastern Mediterranean waters between the two signatories. This deal was designed as a grab by Ankara and Tripoli of full control of those waters and their energy deposits. Making the Palestinians partners of this “accord” aimed at buttressing their claim to the coastal waters from the Gaza Strip and further north with a view to ousting Israel from its offshore gas and oil projects. Violent protests erupted in the streets of Tunisia’s capital again on Saturday night, adding to the pressure on Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi’s government to crack down on police abuses. The clashes occurred in the Sejoumi neighborhood of Tunis and followed protests earlier in the day in the center of the city during which protesters threw chairs and stones at the police who responded by kicking and hitting them with sticks. The release of a video this week of police stripping and beating a young man triggered widespread anger in the country and raised doubts about the credibility of police reforms undertaken after the 2011 revolution. Protests in Sejoumi broke out on Tuesday after a man arrested by police on suspicion of dealing drugs died in custody. The family accused the police of beating him to death. Tunisia’s Interior Ministry has denied the allegation. Human rights activists said police abuses have threatened to undermine the democratic gains made since the overthrow of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s repressive regime a decade ago. In 2020, the world’s nuclear powers have decreased the overall number of nuclear weapons in their possession, but more of them than a year ago are now ready to be fired at short notice, according to a report. At the start of the year, there were around 13,080 nuclear weapons stockpiled by nine nations – the US, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea – which is down from 13,400 a year prior, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reported on Monday. Yet, at the same time, the number of nukes deployed with operational forces – that is, mounted on missiles or stored where they can be quickly prepared for use – has increased by about 105, reaching 3,825. Russia and the US, the two nations holding most of the world’s nuclear weapons, were predominantly responsible for both changes, SIPRI said. Both have continued to reduce their respective arsenals by retiring outdated warheads, but also prepared for action, adding some 50 weapons each. China remains the third-largest possessor of nuclear weapons in the world, with an estimated stockpile of 350 devices, the report said. France, India, and Pakistan have also declared stockpiles, estimated at 290, 156, and 165 weapons, respectively. June 14, 2021
The Free World seems finally to be waking up to the fact that for at least a decade we have been in ‘grey war’ with the new alliance of China, Russia, Iran and N. Korea (CRINK) without openly realising it. The whole is much more than the sum of the parts:
-Sheikh Jarrah, the ostensible cause of the latest conflict in the Middle East, is not so complicated. It is a private rent dispute, caused by squatters and by Palestinian tenants who acquired protected tenancies (not ownership) during the period of Jordanian occupation 1948-1967 when Jordan illegally sequestrated the property rights of Jewish landowners. The Palestinian tenants and squatters are refusing to pay their Israeli landlords rent for properties that have been in undisputed Jewish ownership since the middle of the 19th century….
-The Ayatollahs have, since Iran’s Revolution of 1979, like their proxies, vowed the total destruction of Israel… This goal is also inscribed in the charters of Hamas, Hezbollah and the current Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas….
-This agreement between China and Iran strengthened the hands of both countries to test the resolve of a Biden administration filled with Obama era appointees committed to two of his signature foreign policy errors, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and a dogmatic prioritisation of the so-called “Two State Solution” that is now dead and buried. With people such as Hady Amr, now the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for “Israel-Palestine,” who implausibly Biden sent to “mediate” what cannot be mediated, hope dies. Amr is parti pris: someone who once said that he was “inspired by the Palestinian intifada.” He has in the past wrongly accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and apartheid….
-Obama’s third signature error in foreign policy forms a bridge to the other set of dots to be joined up. Fifteen years ago the many small islands and reefs in the South China Sea which are now PLA bases with runways and ports, were uninhabited, many of them tidally submerged and marked with metal poles (which confer no territorial rights under UNCLOS – the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea). It was mainly on Obama’s watch that this militarisation proceeded, unchallenged, when it could and should have been nipped in the bud… If the militarisation of the South China Sea is left intact, Communist China’s navy — The Peoples’ Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) — will soon have a second and secure southern approach to Taiwan for the invasion which it has threatened for so long….
-Declaratory PLAN doctrine states that in the event of war it holds at risk US assets from Guam to the far side of Hokkaido: hence US bases in Japan. The PLA has also threatened missile attacks on Australia, where key Five Eyes intelligence assets are situated. PLA planners must be aware that these are red lines as much as an attempt to invade Taiwan. Any such actions would trigger US escalation, as recent speeches by senior USN officers have confirmed. It appears that the Communist Chinese are throwing down a gauntlet to test our resolve….
-But Communist China is not ten feet tall. As the recent failure of the PRC space station suggests, we should not automatically assume technological omnipotence. In any event, equipment does not equal capability. We should also remember, as Sun Tzu’s Art of War and the Thirty Six Stratagems of the Warring States/Three Kingdoms period both observe, that perception of power has a power of its own and that the most elegant defeat is the one incurred by the moral disarmament of the enemy….
-Over recent months, the US Dept. of Defence has been engaged in a series of technical moves of significance…They have not been much remarked… but all can be found in the professional military literature, as they should be if they are to compose a credible deterrent to make Xi Jinping think again and stay his hand….
-Iran…needs little encouragement to attack Israel, especially via its proxies where it can claim “plausible deniability”. The current bout of violence and its sequel suit Xi Jinping’s command group well as a “Dead Cat” tactic: a misdirection so that eyes are off the prime area of interest for the PRC. That area is….the recent illegal occupation of the South China Sea by this untraditional maritime power [and] the “continentalisation” of this sea-space…..
-In short Xi Jinping’s command group must be aware that many windows are closing for it and that time is not on their side unless they can persuade the Free World to self-harm sufficiently that we disarm morally. For this, there is evidence of intent and, unfortunately, of current success….
-Therefore the Free World must not fall for the Dead Cat gambit. We must firmly support Israel, the window of the West in the Middle East, and we must maintain the Abraham Accords as the best road to normalisation in that region. If we ensure that we are all awake but not woke, we thereby can resist cultural subversion and moral disarmament through the PRC Ministry of State Security… ‘make friends for China’ strategy within our body politic. In these ways, the threat posed to us by the most patient, intelligent, malign and formidable enemy that we have faced, can be defeated…. June 13, 2021
The real earnings of American workers fell for the fifth consecutive month in May as inflation erased all of the month’s wage gains and more. Real average hourly earnings for working Americans fell 0.1 percent in May compared with April, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Thursday show. This decline in real earnings occurred even though average hourly earnings increased as employers scrambled to fill open positions. What happened was that these wage gains were more than offset by the increase of 0.6 percent in the Consumer Price Index. So Americans were paid more but those gains were swamped by inflation. Average weekly real earnings fell as well, dropping to $334.09 from $335.60, even though there was no change in the average hours worked. The wage decline was even more pronounced for workers the government describes as “production and nonsupervisory employees”—in other words, not the bosses. These workers saw a 0.2 percent decline in May because their 0.4 percent wage increase was overwhelmed by the rise in prices. Real average weekly earnings for these employees fell 0.4 percent over the month due to the change in real average hourly earnings combined with a decrease of 0.3 percent in average weekly hours. This was the fifth consecutive month in which inflation-adjusted hourly earnings fell and the fourth in which weekly earnings fell. June 11, 2021
Mayors of American cities have yearned for the moment they could usher in a return to normalcy, casting away coronavirus restrictions on bars, restaurants, parties and public gatherings. Yet now, even with reopenings underway across the United States as the pandemic recedes, city leaders must contend with another crisis: a crime wave with no signs of ending. They are cheerleading the return of office workers to downtowns and encouraging tourists to visit, eager to rejuvenate the economy and build public confidence. But they are also frantically trying to quell a surge of homicides, assaults and carjackings that began during the pandemic and has cast a chill over the recovery. In Austin, Texas, for example, 14 people were injured early Saturday morning in a mass shooting as revelers jammed a popular downtown nightlife district. Some city officials have touted progressive strategies focused on community policing in neighborhoods where trust between police officers and residents has frayed. Others have deployed more traditional tactics like increasing surveillance cameras in troubled areas and enforcing curfews in city parks to clear out crowds, as the police did in Washington Square Park in Manhattan in recent days. A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 LG5 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.41 LD / 0.00106 AU (158 573 km / 98 533 miles) at 22:19 UTC on June 12, 2021. This is the 65th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 4th so far this month. 2021 LG5 was first observed at Pan-STARRS 1, Haleakala, Hawaii on June 11, one day before its close approach. The new unity government led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid will be brought to a vote of confidence and sworn in during a special session of the Knesset on Sunday, Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin announced Tuesday. At the same special session on Sunday, a vote will be held to replace Levin as Knesset speaker with Yesh Atid MK Mickey Levy. Lapid and Bennett met with New Hope leader Gideon Sa’ar at Sa’ar’s home in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to settle their final differences before Friday’s deadline for coalition agreements to be submitted. Solutions had been found to disputes between New Hope MK Ze’ev Elkin and MKs further to the Left, they announced afterward. Elkin’s objections included keeping Defense Minister Benny Gantz in charge of monitoring Palestinian building in Israeli-controlled areas of the West Bank and Labor MK Gilad Kariv, who is a Reform rabbi, possibly becoming Diaspora affairs minister. The Biden administration warned Israel that a Jewish nationalist march that was scheduled to take place in East Jerusalem next Tuesday could reignite violence across Israel and kick off another round of fighting in the Gaza Strip, Ynet has learned on Thursday. U.S. officials conveyed to Defense Minister Benny Gantz they expected Israel to avoid moves that could further escalate tensions, and especially what they call “far-right provocations.” The so-called “March of Flags” was supposed to take on Thursday but police ordered to postpone the event, fearing it would provoke local Palestinians to attack marchers. The rally usually takes place on Jerusalem Day but was interrupted this year when Hamas fired a barrage of rockets at the capital from the Gaza Strip, marking the start of an 11-day conflict between the IDF and the Palestinian enclave’s terrorist factions. It was also called off in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In late-night consultations Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tasked Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai with providing alternative routes so that the march could go ahead. Ministers voted Tuesday to allow the controversial far-right march to take place in Jerusalem’s Old City next Tuesday, June 15, with a new route to be decided between the rally’s organizers and police. Saudi Arabia is close to reaching an agreement on diplomatic normalisation with President Bashar al-Assad’s government, as Riyadh jockeys to play a lead role in removing the Iranian presence from Syria, Al Jazeera has been told by those with close knowledge of the discussions. According to a senior official from the Syrian opposition Free Officer’s Movement, who maintains close contacts within the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Intelligence Directorate (GID), “the political mood within the House of Saud has changed, many senior royals, particularly Mohammad bin Salman [MBS] himself, are keen to reengage with Assad”. According to a Damascus-based official from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs who was privy to the recent talks with Riyadh, “MBS is engaged in efforts to defuse tensions with The Islamic Republic of Iran by engaging with Syria.” According to the official, “MBS instructed his team to reassure Syria that he does not want regime change against Bashar, and that Syria, as a brotherly Arab nation, should naturally be close to Saudi Arabia”. The official claimed this was “clearly also intended as a signal” to the Iranian leadership that Riyadh “recognises that the side of the war in which … [Iran] most heavily invested won, and that it will not try to challenge that reality”. Eight people were killed and 27 wounded after ballistic missiles and explosive-rigged drones launched by Iran-backed Houthis struck several locations across Marib, officials told Arab News. Thunderous explosions rocked the city in central Yemen late on Thursday. Abdul Aziz Al-Shadadi, director of Marib’s office of the Ministry of Health, said that ambulances were still treating people in the targeted areas. “Explosions occurred at different residential areas in Marib,” Al-Shadadi said. Residents said that they heard large explosions caused by the missiles and the Yemeni army’s air defense targeting drones. The Yemeni army said in a statement that the Houthis targeted Marib with two ballistic missiles and two explosive drones. June 10, 2021
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday said that Israeli airstrikes in Syria killed at least eleven government troops even as Syria said it had intercepted an Israeli missile strike over capital Damascus. The strikes reportedly targeted Lebanese Hezbollah positions in Khirbet al-Tin on the outskirts of Homs including an arms depot. The strikes were carried out shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The Israeli military however hasn’t confirmed the strikes. June 9, 2021
Rockets landed near US forces and contractors in Iraq on Wednesday, including an air base north of Baghdad and a military base at Baghdad International Airport, the Iraqi army and security officials said, according to Reuters. At least three rockets hit Balad air base, where US contractors are based. At least one rocket hit shortly afterwards near the airport at a base which US military aircraft use. Rocket attacks have regularly targeted Iraqi bases as well as the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, where the US embassy is located, since the US elimination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani last January. On Thursday, an Iranian official announced two Iranian warships have entered the Atlantic Ocean, confirming reports last month that the ships were bound for the open waters. In comments reported by the Iranian state-run Press TV, Iranian Rear Adml. Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Chief of Army for Coordination, said Iran’s Makran cargo ship and the domestically-built Sahand destroyer, have entered the Atlantic Ocean. Sayyari’s remarks come after the Makran, a converted oil tanker now used as a cargo ship by the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN), was spotted by Satellite imagery on April 28, with seven smaller armed Iranian attack boats loaded on its deck. U.S. officials speculated the Iranian cargo ship, which linked up with the Sahand destroyer, is transporting the Iranian attack boats and other arms to Venezuela. Meanwhile, Russia is preparing to provide Iran with an advanced satellite that would enable it to track potential military targets across the Middle East, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. The satellite is projected to have the ability to track long-range targets, including IDF bases, as well as oil refineries throughout the Persian Gulf and Iraqi bases for US troops. The plan would deliver a Russian-made Kanopus-V satellite equipped with a high-resolution camera which could be launched from Russia within months, the Post said. June 11, 2021
A prominent fast-food company announced that it’s donating nearly half of the proceeds from its sales of chicken sandwiches to an LGBT activist group while taking a shot at one of its competitors. Burger King, one of the largest and most popular global fast food companies, sent out a tweet Thursday announcing that “the #ChKing says LGBTQ+ rights!” The tweet, which is now pinned to the Burger King Twitter account, referred to the Ch’King, the restaurant chain’s newly created chicken sandwich. “During #pridemonth (even on Sundays) your chicken sandwich craving can do good! We are making a donation* to @HRC for every Ch’King sold!” Burger King will donate 40 cents to the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBT activist group in the United States, for every Ch’King sold between June 3 and June 30. The reference to Sundays in the tweet is seen as a veiled swipe at Chick-fil-A, another major fast-food chain that, unlike nearly all of its primary competitors, does not open on Sundays because of the religious beliefs of the restaurant chain’s founders. Steve Cortes, a Newsmax host and former Trump campaign employee, took issue with Burger King’s jab at Chick-fil-A for closing on Sundays: “This corporation makes it clear it mocks Christians (and other religious people) and doesn’t want our business.” June 9, 2021
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said it had received more than 200,000 reports of adverse effects following vaccination for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). According to the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), data from Dec. 14 of last year until May 14 of this year showed 227,805 post-vaccination adverse events. It also noted 943 adverse events among those aged 12 to 17. Co-managed by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), VAERS is the U.S. government’s tracking system for any events related to vaccination. Its data comes from reports voluntarily submitted to the system. VAERS then publicizes all vaccine injury reports it receives as of a specific date every Friday – usually up to a week before the data becomes public. VAERS data from Dec. 14 of last year until May 14 of this year showed 227,805 reports of adverse events. These included 18,528 serious injuries and 4,201 fatalities related to COVID-19 vaccination. Of the 93 adverse events in teenagers, 23 were recorded as serious. June 11, 2021
Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, can produce toxins that are harmful to livestock, wildlife and people. The growth of this bacteria is aided by high temperatures. “The hot, dry conditions we are experiencing are perfect for the production of cyanobacteria,” says Miranda Meehan, North Dakota State University Extension livestock environmental stewardship specialist. “Much of the state is at an increased risk due to the widespread drought affecting 99% of the state.” Given the current conditions, producers and the public should be on the lookout for cyanobacteria blooms. Blue-green algae often occurs in stagnant ponds or dugouts with elevated nutrient levels, forming large colonies that appear as scum on or just below the water surface. Live cyanobacterial blooms can be green, but also red or yellow, and often turn blue after the bloom dies and dries on the water surface or shoreline. Some species of cyanobacteria can be toxic when livestock and wildlife ingest them. Toxicity is dependent on the species consuming the water, the concentration of the toxin or toxins and the amount of water ingested. June 7, 2021
Much of the Western half of the US is in a severe drought, and parts of the Southwest are “exceptionally dry,” the worst category, according to US Drought Monitor. Taking this into account, the iconic Hoover Dam has just recorded the smallest amount of water inside Lake Mead since the 1930s. The damming of the Colorado River at the Nevada-Arizona border created Lake Mead and supplies water to 25 million people, including in the cities of Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, and San Diego. We’ve explained in the past if Lake Mead drops to dangerously low levels, the entire town of Las Vegas is absolutely screwed because two pipes, known as straws, are at elevation 1,050 feet and 1,000 feet. However, a third straw was recently constructed at 860 feet just in case the water level continued to drop. For Vegas to prevent a total collapse if Lake Mead continues to drop, it will have to continue constructing straws at lower and lower depths. As of Wednesday, the lake’s water level sank to 1,071.56 feet above sea level and broke the record low in July 2016. Since the early 2000s, the water level has plunged 140 feet due to years of drought that has gripped the region. June 10, 2021
A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 LX1 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.42 LD / 0.00107 AU (160 069 km / 99 462 miles) at 04:31 UTC on June 4, 2021. This is the 63rd known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the second so far this month. The object was first observed at ATLAS-HKO, Haleakala, Hawai on June 5, one day after its close approach. A large cloud of Saharan dust moving across the Atlantic Ocean over the past week has reached the Caribbean and South America. The dust will remain over the region for the next couple of days, limiting visibility and lowering air quality. After that, it’s expected to head toward the southeastern United States. The largest Saharan dust cloud in 50 years — dubbed the “Godzilla dust cloud — engulfed the Caribbean in June 2020, causing record hazardous air quality levels. “SAL activity typically ramps up in mid-June and peaks from late June to mid-August, with new outbreaks occurring every three to five days. During this peak period, it is common for individual SAL outbreaks to reach farther to the west—as far west as Florida, Central America, and even Texas—and cover extensive areas of the Atlantic (sometimes as large as the lower 48 United States),” said Dr. Jason Dunion, a University of Miami hurricane researcher working with NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory.
