Oman welcomes Bahrain-Israel normalization decision
Bahrain agreed to establish formal relations with Israel in advance of Tuesday’s anticipated historic signing in Washington of an accord to normalize ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. It is likely that a second accord could be signed Tuesday between Israel and Bahrain. To underscore the speed with which events are unfolding, Netanyahu noted on Friday that it took 26 years, from the signing of a peace deal between Israel and Jordan in 1994, for there to be an existing deal, such as the one with the UAE. Netanyahu leaves for Washington on Sunday and will return to Israel after Tuesday’s signing ceremony at the White House. Bahrain’s state news agency BNA said on Friday that the King of Bahrain had clarified in his conversation with Trump and Netanyahu, that Bahrain remains committed to the Palestinian cause and the necessity of reaching a fair and lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians based on the two-state solution. The biggest question now is whether Saudi Arabia, one of the Middle East’s most influential countries and a close US ally, will follow suit. Saudi Arabia, a key Sunni rival to Shi’ite Iran, has so far signaled it is not ready. Zaha Hassan, a visiting fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said Bahrain’s move was “especially disturbing” to Palestinians.” This move could not happen without a Saudi green light,” she added. “[Saudi Arabia] is under pressure to normalize, but cannot because of its position as the custodian of Islam’s holy places and the unpopularity of it on the street level. Bahrain was offered up as a consolation that will keep Saudi Arabia in Trump’s good graces.”

Arab League Rejects Palestinian Resolution Condemning Israel-UAE Peace Deal
Palestinians, as the old phrase goes, never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. But they also never miss an opportunity to organize a day of rage. They’ve called for three in the wake of agreements between Israel, the UAE and, just announced Friday, Bahrain. From the Palestinian perspective, the news keeps getting worse as it was reported on Monday that Oman is expected to be the next Arab country joining the procession of nations making peace with Israel. The Palestinians have lost sympathy and support among Arab countries. Their terrorist methods, their support for Iran and the corruption of their leadership are reasons most often cited. In Ramallah, images of the rulers of Bahrain and the UAE have been burned and the Palestinians have expressed anger and disappointment as they have been brushed off by Arab countries. Last week, the Arab League rejected a draft resolution condemning the Israel-UAE agreement. It’s not known if the Palestinians will return to mass violence. The Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday that some Palestinians are interpreting the formation of a new group made up of representatives of different Palestinian factions as a call for a new Intifada.

Could Israel normalization partition Al-Aqsa Mosque?
A statement in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain normalization agreements with Israel, brokered by the United States, may lead to the division of the Al-Aqsa compound because it violates the status quo, analysts say. Under the status quo affirmed in 1967, only Muslims can pray within al-Haram al-Sharif, also known as the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Non-Muslims can visit but cannot pray at the site. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed this status quo in a formal declaration in 2015. According to the joint statement between the US, Israel, and the UAE released on August 13 by US President Donald Trump: “As set forth in the Vision of Peace, all Muslims who come in peace may visit and pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem’s other holy sites should remain open for peaceful worshippers of all faiths.” The Al Aqsa mosque is a building serving as a mosque built on the Temple Mount, known as the Al Aqsa compound. The declaration made by Netanyahu in 2015 specifically states: “Muslims pray on the Temple Mount; non-Muslims visit the Temple Mount”

Massive explosion shakes outskirts of Jordanian capital
A series of explosions have lit up the night sky outside the city of Zarqa, northeast of Amman, the capital of Jordan, at a military ammunition depot in Ghabawi. The explosion took place at a warehouse of “unusable mortar bombs” in the Ghabawi area east of Zarqa and was caused by an electrical short, Petra reported citing Jordan’s minister of media affairs Amjad Adaileh. Maps of the area show several army bases are located on the outskirts of Zarqa near the Ghabawi peak. Some social media users rushed to compare the Zarqa explosion to the blast at the port of Beirut, Lebanon last month, when a warehouse filled with ammonium nitrate devastated the port and caused at least 190 deaths and 6,500 injuries. However, there have been no known casualties from the Friday incident, the government said.

Many Lebanese citizens and officials have expressed the fear that his presence in their country could trigger another war with Israel. Their fear does not seem unjustified. The Lebanese are aware of the disasters Hamas has brought on its people in the Gaza Strip by firing rockets into Israel. The Lebanese are telling Hamas: “If you want to launch terror attacks against Israel, please do not use our country. We are not prepared to pay the price.” The Lebanese have also objected to the return to Lebanon of armed Palestinian groups. The Lebanese appear afraid that Hamas is operating on instructions from Iran to turn Lebanon into a launching pad for firing missiles at Israel. Arab political analysts…. also believe that Iran is preparing to use its proxies, Hamas and Hezbollah, to target Arab countries that establish relations with Israel, such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

US praises Serbia for designating all of Hezbollah a terror group
The US State Department praised Serbia on Sunday for its decision to designate Lebanon’s Shiite Iran-backed Hezbollah in its entirety as a terrorist organization. The designation was said to be included in a deal between Serbia and Kosovo reached earlier this month that will also see Pristina establish diplomatic relations with Israel and set up its embassy in Jerusalem. In a statement on Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Serbia’s move was “another significant step limiting this Iranian backed terrorist group’s ability to operate in Europe. “This important action was announced as part of the historic commitments President Trump secured on a wide range of economic normalization issues between Serbia and Kosovo, coupled with the steps both nations are taking to help achieve peace in the Middle East,” he continued.

New satellite photos show airstrikes on secret missile facility in Syria
New images reveal evidence of an attack on a secretive missile facility in Syria. The photos, released by ImageSat International on Sunday, show that two structures at Al-Safirah missile factory near Aleppo were hit. ISI assessed an intelligence report that this attack was “intended to weaken the missile production in Syria.” It also says that this factory may have been producing missiles for Hezbollah. Crucial “elements” of the site were hit. The airstrike took place on September 11. It came a week after two other airstrikes in Syria that regime media and others reported. At the missile factory, ISI assesses that the structure played a role in missile production. “The facility, which probably contained explosives, was destroyed.” A second structure, that may have had machinery, was damaged. The Syrian regime and its media have blamed Israel for some airstrikes over the last several years. Tehran has trafficked missiles to Iraq. It has sent precision guided munitions to Hezbollah via Syria. It has also sought to help Hezbollah build factories in Lebanon.

Last weekend, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan demanded that Greece engage in talks over escalating tensions in the eastern Mediterranean, warning that “They’re either going to understand the language of politics and diplomacy, or in the field with painful experiences.” The Greek government, meanwhile, announced further steps this week to bolster the country’s defenses. Parties are doubling down on dueling interpretations of the law of the sea. The U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) asserts that countries may claim a territorial sea extending up to 12 nautical miles (nm) from their coasts, including sovereignty over the offshore oil under those waters. Turkey has never ratified UNCLOS — and specifically rejects the convention’s provision that islands are entitled to continental shelves of their own. Since most of the islands in the Aegean are Greek territory, Turkey uses this legal position to claim rights to offshore oil in waters outside the territorial seas of Greek islands, arguing that this area is part of Turkey’s continental shelf. Greece, a party to UNCLOS, rejects the Turkish position, arguing that the principles in UNCLOS — including the entitlement of islands to continental shelves — have come to represent customary international law and thus also apply to Turkey. Reflecting this stance, Greece argues that Turkey’s recent exploration is on a continental shelf extending from the Greek islands of Crete, Karpathos and Rhodes and thus violates Greece’s sovereign rights.

The United States and Iran are set to face off at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), also known as the World Court, on Monday, over the US pullout from the 2015 nuclear deal. At the head of the matter are the sanctions that the US reimposed on Tehran after withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2018; Iran argues the move came as a violation of the 1955 “Treaty of Amity” between the two countries. The coming weeks will see the two countries clash over whether the court, which was established in the wake of World War II to resolve disputes between UN members, has jurisdiction in the matter after Tehran turned to it in 2018. A decision on that issue could take several months, while a final judgment may take years.

Afghan-Taliban talks: Government calls for ceasefire
The Afghan government has called for a humanitarian ceasefire with the Taliban, as the first-ever peace talks between the two sides began in Qatar. Abdullah Abdullah, who led the government’s delegation, stressed that there was “no winner through war”. The Taliban did not mention a truce, reiterating instead that Afghanistan should be under Islamic law. The US encouraged both sides to reach an agreement, telling them: “The entire world wants you to succeed”. Afghanistan has seen four decades of conflict, with tens of thousands of civilians killed. The historic talks began on Saturday, one day after the 19th anniversary of the deadly 9/11 al-Qaeda attacks in New York, that led to the US beginning military operations in Afghanistan.

For about an hour on Saturday night, Black Lives Matter demonstrators marched across the George Washington Bridge to the 34th precinct station house in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood. About 100 protesters blocked all cars and trucks from passing. The crowd boasted that they were on the bridge to “shut s*** down!” Agitators used construction cones to block cars from driving on the George Washington Bridge.

Telegram channel NEXTA intentionally refrained for the first time from publishing instructions for the Sunday march on Saturday night, to prevent security forces from pre-deploying to protest sites. NEXTA did not issue protest instructions until nearly noon on Sunday, directing protests to begin at 2:00 pm local time. NEXTA issued detailed instructions and maps – which tens of thousands of protesters followed – asking protesters to gather in several separate areas around Minsk before converging on key locations, including Lukashenko’s residence and large plazas, from several directions. NEXTA’s flexible control of the protests forced Belarusian security forces to redeploy throughout the day to follow protesters.

No one is coming to save the global economy this time
The coronavirus depression will be much worse than the last worldwide recession, because this time no country is strong enough to rescue the global economy. The story of the Great Recession goes like this: the US and Europe were crippled while working to clean up their devastated banking system, the global services sector suffered without its biggest player — the US consumer engine — but global economic growth didn’t completely fall off a cliff because other countries kept money moving around the planet. Over in China policymakers enacted a massive stimulus to skip over the recession entirely. The country’s GDP grew 9.4% in 2009. India chugged along as if the crisis barely happened, with its GDP growing 7.9% in 2009. But this time there is no corner of the globe that has been left untouched by the pandemic or its effects. And so, there’s no country that can reasonably chug along and keep things from getting truly disastrous.

Study: Cost Of Living Is Rising Much Faster Than Inflation
I have written many times about inflation and the relationship between money and policy, as well as the difference between inflation (rise in price because of demand leading to greed), and hyperinflation (the loss of faith in a currency that causes prices to rise because of the worthlessness of the means of exchange). What I have been driving at is that much of the “inflation” in the US is not really inflation, but a tacit admission of a future hyperinflation, because prices are not constantly rising because of “demand”, but because the US dollar’s value is going into the trash bin of history. But it is not me who says this, since the facts on which I speak are from analysis that anybody can read and study. As such, Zero Hedge recently put out an article about a Harvard Professor who, likely studying the same data, was forced to conclude the same- that prices are rising much faster than the inflation rate, suggesting not increased demand, but a loss in the value of the currency itself.

Chinese Government Combines “Track & Trace” COVID-System With Social Credit Score
The Communist government of China has combined its coronavirus ‘track and trace’ system with the country’s notorious social credit score. Fears that the new COVID surveillance system would be used for “totalitarian social monitoring” are being realized in China. The new system ranks each citizen via a “civilization score” and then places them in a category which determines whether they get priority access to services or are punished and restricted. The new system represents an expansion of the social credit score and is being initially rolled out in the city of Suzhou and will apply to everyone over the age of 18. In August 2019, the Communist state bragged about how it had prevented 2.5 million “discredited entities” from purchasing plane tickets and 90,000 people from buying high speed train tickets in the month of July alone. As we document in the video below, the onerous social credit score system is literally designed to punish and socially ostracize dissidents who express controversial opinions. In the age of social media deplatforming, an identical system is gradually being introduced in the west, where people who have been banned by social media networks for ‘offensive’ views are then also deplatformed by companies and banks.

Should the rise of CBDC be a concern?
Various central banks all across the whole world are working on introducing their own Central Bank Digital Currencies including the Central Bank of China, Japanese central bank, and European central bank. And they aim to launch their respective CBDCs as soon as possible. Meanwhile, a research company based in Europe has claimed in a new report that there are at least three to five countries that are planning on replacing their fiat currencies with central bank digital currencies within the duration of the next ten years. the report outlined some of the countries that are very near to launch their CBDCs. These include China that has completed the development of its central bank digital currency known as Digital Yuan and is currently conducting pilot trials on its DP/EC in various major cities of the country. The central bank of China is expected to launch the digital Yuan next year. Apart from this, Sweden is also very near to release its central bank digital currency known as digital Krona. Sweden started the testing phase of digital Krona at the beginning of the year 2020 and conducted some trials. The country aims at removing the usage of cash by replacing it with e-Krona. In the report, the research company also highlighted the fact that if the digital Euro does not get launched by the year 2025 there is likely a chance that the digital Yuan of China may overtake it. Even though there have been mixed reactions following the rise of CBDCs, the fact remains that most countries are adopting it. The launch of the digital currencies is noted as an advantage to the government as they would be able to monitor how cash is deployed carefully. CBDC provides some critical features that physical currency doesn’t possess as it can be monitored and be shared amongst people that are deserving of the currency while leaving out others. Another factor associated with the rise of CBDC is social credit. Citizens of a country should follow the rules of the state before they are allowed to own digital currency. In the words of analyst Andrew Torba, if the ruling party in China doesn’t find you worthy of holding the digital currency, you will be robbed of your right to buy food, take a bus, and some other amenities.

The U.N. has tapped a former abortionist and advocate for teen prostitution to its top post of expert on health and human rights. According to a report at international human rights watchdog organization C-Fam, South African Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng has risen quickly at the U.N., from “sexual health and rights advocate” to the top post of Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health, a role that will give her a global platform to urge the decriminalization of the sex trade. “Mofokeng’s reports advancing sexual rights, including the legalizing of prostitution, will likely be cited as authoritative interpretations of human rights law by U.N. agencies and like-minded Member States,” C-Fam observed. Last year, Mofokeng, author of Dr. T: A Guide to Sexual Health and Pleasure, and host of television show Sex Talk with Dr. T. created a firestorm following publication of her article at Teen Vogue that encouraged teen girls to consider “sex work.” As C-Fam reported in July, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation praised Mofokeng for her leadership in the area of family planning in 2016.

The CDC Admits Cloth Masks Are Not Effective

For the last several weeks, wildfires have been ravaging the State of California. The CDC admits Cloth masks that are used to slow the spread of COVID-19 offer little protection against wildfire smoke. They do not catch small particles found in wildfire smoke that can harm your health. Limit your time outside when it’s smoky. Learn how you can protect yourself from wildfire smoke. They just told us that smoke particulates are too small to be stopped by a cloth mask. While N95 masks will protect up to 95% of particles, down to .1 microns in size. A quick Google search will tell us that smoke particles and debris are usually .4 to .7 microns in size. According to the CDC, cloth masks are not effective in stopping materials that size. Four communities in Middlesex County are now considered high risk for the West Nile virus, health officials said. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced four more human cases of the West Nile virus, bringing the total number in the state this year to seven. All four people were exposed in Middlesex County, officials said. The health department said Cambridge, Newton, Somerville and Watertown have been elevated to high risk for the mosquito-borne disease. There were five human cases of West Nile virus infection in Massachusetts last year. Meanwhile in Europe, since the start of the 2020 transmission season and as of 10 September 2020, EU Member States have reported 173 human cases of WNV infection and 15 deaths through TESSy: Greece (91, including 12 deaths), Spain (49, including 3 deaths), Italy (29) and Romania (4). All cases were reported from areas that have been affected during previous transmission seasons. No cases have been reported from EU-neighbouring countries. Since the beginning of the 2020 transmission season, 60 outbreaks among equids have been reported. These outbreaks have been reported by Spain (51, including 29 in the province of Seville), Italy (6), France (1), Portugal (1) and Germany (1) through ADNS. No outbreaks among birds have been reported through ADNS.

Tropical Storm “Sally” formed at 18:00 UTC on September 12, 2020, as the earliest 18th named Atlantic storm, beating the previous record set by Stan on September 22, 2005. At the time it formed, Sally’s center was located about 60 km (35 miles) SSE of Naples, Florida. Before it was officially named, Sally was known as Tropical Depression 19 — TD19 made landfall at 06:00 UTC on September 12 just south of Miami, Florida with winds of 55 km/h (35 mph) and a pressure of 1 007 hPa. At 06:00 UTC on September 13 (02:00 EDT), the center of Tropical Storm “Sally” was located about 130 km (80 miles) WSW of Port Charlotte, Florida, and 620 km (385 miles) ESE of the Mouth of the Mississippi River. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h (45 mph) and minimum central pressure of 1 003 hPa. It was moving WNW at 13 km/h (8 mph). Further strengthening is expected over the next couple of days, and Sally is forecast to become a hurricane on Monday, with some additional strengthening possible through early Tuesday. A Storm Surge Watch is in effect for the Mouth of the Mississippi River to the Alabama/Florida Border, Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Lake Borgne, Mobile Bay.

Sudan ends 30 year rule of Islamic law, separating religion and state
Sudan’s transitional government has agreed to separate religion from the state, ending 30 years of Islamic rule in the country. Leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North rebel group Abdel-Aziz al-Hilu and Sudanese Prime minister Abdalla Hamdok signed the declaration in Addis Ababa on Thursday. “For Sudan to become a democratic country where the rights of all citizens are enshrined, the constitution should be based on the principle of ‘separation of religion and state,’ in the absence of which the right to self-determination must be respected,” the declaration stated. This comes less than a week after the government signed a peace deal with rebel forces, raising hopes of an end to the violence that had crippled the Darfur region and other parts of Sudan under ousted president Omar al-Bashir.

They discussed “political and military developments in Palestine, Lebanon and the region” and “the dangers to the Palestinian cause” including “Arab plans for normalization” with Israel, Al-Manar said. Haniyeh has been in Lebanon since Wednesday, on his first visit to the country in nearly 30 years, for direct and video-conference talks with other Palestinian groups that oppose Israel’s diplomatic initiative.

Middle East intelligence sources believe that the emir may be shifting ground ready for Donald Trump to win a second term as US president, by starting to cool his ties with radical and anti-US elements. The Palestinian Hamas and its parent, the Muslim Brotherhood, appear to be the first to feel the rough edge of the Qatari ruler’s re-evaluation. After a visit by US presidential adviser Jared Kushner to Doha last week, Sheikh Tamim is reported by those sources to have instructed his aides to inform the Hamas that the continued flow of Qatari cash to the Gaza Strip’s impoverished population was no longer guaranteed. The latest transfer of $30 million was “not a policy,” he warned, but “a one-off.” The next instalments may come on a one-by-one basis, depending on how Gaza’s Hamas regime behaves. That delivery silenced weeks of incendiary balloon and rocket attacks launched from the Gaza strip against southern Israel – though not for long judging by past precedent. However, this time, the Palestinian terrorist group was given a stern caution by its Doha paymaster: “The Americans and Israelis are not kidding around this time around,” he said, adding for good measure: “It does not seem as if Trump is going to lose the presidential elections.” Cooling his longstanding ties with Iran and Hizballah would be much riskier than cutting cash payments to Hamas. They are capable of hitting back in ways that could be gravely damaging to their target. On the other hand, loosening ties with radical and terrorist entities would open a pathway for Qatar to bury the hatchet with Saudi Arabia and the UAE and win points in Washington.

Meanwhile NATO leadership is attempting to mediate the inter-NATO member dispute, which could prove highly embarrassing, also given Russia is about to kick off naval war games around Cyprus, notably in the very disputed waters Turkey is claiming as its own.

An Iranian lawmaker says Tehran and Beijing will work together to create a national Internet for Iran as part of a 25-year partnership agreement they are discussing. Lawmaker Mohammad Saleh Jokar said earlier this week that work on a national Internet is cited in a section in the draft deal with China that focuses on cybercooperation between the two countries. Jokar, head of the parliamentary commission on domestic affairs, did not give details about the proposed cooperation on the centralized national Internet, which would work independently from the World Wide Web. Iranian authorities have promised for more than a decade to implement the national network and have worked on it since 2002, according to Reporters Without Borders.

Hong Kong Police Make Sweeping Arrests as Protests Return
Hong Kong police arrested scores of people including key activists as protests again flared up on the city’s streets Sunday after weeks of relative calm since the implementation of a national security law. At least 90 people were arrested on charges including illegal assembly, disorderly conduct, obstructing and assaulting police, according to the authority. More than 20 people were also fined for violating social distancing rules. Protesters marched through the Kowloon area and blocked a city street with barricades chanting pro-democracy slogans and holding up placards in defiance of social distancing restrictions. Their main thrust was to protest Hong Kong’s delayed Legislative Council election, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday but has been pushed back a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers also demanded “no national security law” and “no health code” ahead of the protest.

Tens of thousands of protesters marched through Minsk on Sunday calling for President Alexander Lukashenko to resign, as protests across Belarus entered their fifth week following disputed elections that left the longtime leader in power. Using military vehicles and water cannons, as well as pepper gas, riot police and plain clothes officers wearing masks and wielding truncheons tried to disperse the demonstrators. More than 200 protesters were detained throughout Belarus Sunday, including more than 100 in the capital, the Minsk-based Viasna Human Rights Center and local media reported.

When the night was over, three officers had been injured by flying water bottles or commercial-grade fireworks and at least one protester had been hit by a car. Police made 11 arrests – three for rioting, the Democrat & Chronicle reported. Meanwhile, A new study out of Princeton University reveals that 48 out of the 50 largest cities in the United States have experienced riots associated with the Black Lives Matter movement since late May. Despite the leftist media’s obsession with calling the fiery violence ‘mostly peaceful’, the data indicates that most cities are seeing some violent unrest. Of the biggest 50 cities, only Fresno, California, and Mesa, Arizona have remained unaffected, according to the data. In addition, when extended to the largest 100 cities by population, the study found that 74 have experienced riots.

Their decades-long campaign to eradicate polio is now killing scores of innocent young people living in poor countries. Now it seems that health officials are beginning to admit that their plan to stop ‘wild’ polio is backfiring, as scores children are being paralyzed a deadly strain of the pathogen derived from a live vaccine – causing a virulent of polio to spread. This latest pharma-induced pandemic has broken out in the African countries of Chad and Sudan, and the culprit has been identified: a vaccine-derived polio virus type 2. Officials now fear this new dangerous strain could soon ‘jump continents,’ causing further deadly outbreaks around the world. Shocking as it sounds, this Big Pharma debacle is not new. After spending some $16 billion over 30 years to eradicate polio, international health bodies have ‘accidentally’ reintroduced the disease to in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and also Iran, as the central Asia region was hit by a virulent strain of polio spawned by the corporate pharmaceutical vaccine distributed there. Also, in 2019, the government of Ethiopia ordered the destruction of 57,000 vials of type 2 oral polio vaccine (mOPV2) following a similar outbreak of vaccine-induced polio. It’s important to note that the oral polio vaccine being pushed on to the African population by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), a consortium which is supported and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Meanwhile, Data released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on Aug. 26, which was widely ignored by the major media, show that coronavirus was listed as the sole cause in only 6 percent of all recorded virus deaths in the U.S. The CDC said that, of the 153,504 deaths recorded from Feb. 1 through Aug. 19, only 9,210 (6 percent) listed covid as the only cause of death. The other 94 percent had, on average, “2.6 additional conditions or causes per death,” the CDC report said in its section headed Comorbidities.

South Korea hunkered down as Typhoon Haishen travelled northwards along the country’s east coast on Monday, a day after the powerful storm battered Japan’s southern islands where four people are missing following a landslide. The storm, carrying top sustained winds of up to 112 kilometres per hour, cut power to more than 17,500 households in the southern tip of the Korean peninsula as it made landfall in the southern city of Ulsan, the country’s weather agency said. Typhoon Haishen comes just days after Typhoon Maysak smashed into the Korean peninsula, leaving at least two dead and thousands without power.

IDF strikes Gaza after 6 rockets fired towards southern Israel
IDF forces struck targets in the Gaza Strip belonging to the Hamas terrorist group early Friday morning in response to six rockets that were fired from Gaza towards southern Israel through the night. Sirens sounded on Friday morning in the towns of Nahal Oz and Alumim. Underground infrastructure and military positions belonging to Hamas were targeted in the strikes by tanks and IAF aircraft, according to the IDF Spokespersons Unit. A number of incendiary and explosive balloon landed in southern Israel on Thursday, sparking at least 26 fires throughout the area. Terrorists in the Gaza Strip have launched incendiary and explosive balloons towards southern Israel on a daily basis in recent weeks, sparking fires that have burned large swaths of land. A number of rockets have been fired towards the Gaza envelope as well.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza threatens ‘explosion’ if blockade continues
Israel’s decision to close the crossings to and from the Gaza Strip because of the recent escalation spike in arson balloon attacks and rocket fire from Gaza drew harsh words from terrorist organizations on Friday morning, after a series of IDF airstrikes hit a number of Hamas targets, including a weapons workshop. The military arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad issued a statement stressing that “a continued delay in implementing the conditions having to do with lifting the ‘siege’ will lead to an explosion,” and that Israel “would bear the responsibility.” According to the Hamas representative, Israel was being “dismissive” of people’s lives, given the spread of coronavirus in the Gaza Strip. “The continued blockade and the worsening electricity crisis, and the stop of goods and fuel and supplies to Gaza are a crime against humanity that we cannot allow to continue or remain silent in the face of,” Barhoum said.

U.N. To Renew Lebanon Peacekeeping Mandate, Reduce Troops
The U.N. Security Council will extend the mandate for a peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon for another year later on Friday, but will reduce the number of troops amid U.S. and Israeli criticism over the mission’s efficiency, diplomats said. The United States and Israel have argued that the force needs to be smaller but with more powers and more access to areas controlled by Hezbollah. They have pointed to recent incidents on the border in areas monitored by UNIFIL as examples of why the force should be bolstered. Israel struck Hezbollah targets on Wednesday after it said it had come under attack. The renewal of the U.N. mission comes as Lebanon grapples with a financial crisis, political deadlock and the aftermath of a blast that killed 180 people. France, overseeing the resolution’s progress at the United Nations, circulated a final compromise draft on Thursday, which will be put to a vote on Friday afternoon. The United States was satisfied because it called for a detailed plan to improve the efficiency of the mission and report back to the council within 60 days, the diplomat said.

The measures could include individuals, ships or the use of European ports, said Josep Borrell, adding the EU would focus on everything related to “activities we consider illegal.” Tensions between Turkey and Greece escalated after Ankara sent a survey vessel to disputed eastern Mediterranean waters this month, a step Athens called illegal.

An organizer of the ongoing rioting in Portland admitted that the goal of the anarchists who are besieging America is the “abolition of the United States as we know it.” Charles “Sam” Faddis, a former CIA operative with 30 years of experience in intelligence operations, noted: “We are watching an insurrection in progress, one which uses incidences of the police use of force as pretexts, but which has as its goal the destruction of the existing social, economic and political order in the United States.” As their power grows, Black Lives Matter, Antifa and other anarchists “will expand the scope of their challenge to the authority of the existing governmental structure,” Faddis wrote. Then, phase three begins, as the level of violence expands. “We will see a shift from vandalism, burning, and beatings to the use of Molotov cocktails, firearms and car bombs,” Faddis wrote. If that happens, then “we are well past the point where this movement could have been snuffed out easily, the Maoists will begin to challenge the federal government directly. In control – by this point of urban centers, National Guard armories, and fielding their own police forces – the revolutionaries will move to threaten the very existence of the republic,” Faddis wrote.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he has formed a police reserve force to intervene in Belarus if necessary, but that point has not yet been reached. Speaking on Russian state TV, he said Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko “asked me to set up a certain police reserve” and “I have done so”. “We also agreed that it won’t be used until the situation gets out of control,” he told Rossiya 1TV. Mr Lukashenko’s disputed 9 August re-election triggered huge protests. President Putin is upping the ante on Belarus, with a direct confirmation of what Alexander Lukashenko claimed some time ago: that Russia will step in to help him, with force, if things go bad. Just what force, and how bad, Mr Putin hasn’t fully defined. By “law enforcement officers”, he doesn’t mean ordinary street police, though. The term is far broader, including riot police, the National Guard (Rosgvardia) and even the FSB. So the potential for some kind of Russian intervention now hangs as an open threat both to opposition leaders and protesters – and to the West.

Beijing has cautioned against further US naval operations in the South China Sea, claiming that recent activities by the American side create conditions for an unintentional military confrontation.A spokesman for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said on Friday that a US warship entered Chinese territorial waters without permission. “We urge the US to stop such provocative behavior and restrict its maritime actions to avoid possible military accidents,” Senior Colonel Li Huamin said, adding that PLA naval and aerial forces monitored the vessel as it traveled through the South China Sea. The US Navy said that the USS Martin carried out a “routine” operation in the region. Washington has cited the so-called “freedom of navigation” principle to defend its regular activity in the sea.

Maskin believes central banks’ role in managing monetary policy is critical and that their actions in 2008 prevented a repeat of the 1930s depression. And the primary function of commercial banks is to make loans. Maskin stated that if new unregulated lending organizations replace banks, leverage without regulation is dangerous. The first day of the DNC, the Hispanic Caucus, the Labor Council, the AAPI Caucus, the Black Caucus, the Interfaith Council, the Ethnic Council, the Youth Council, and the Women’s Caucus all held meetings prior to the night’s nationally televised program. In at least two of these meetings of smaller individual caucuses — the LGBTQ caucus meeting and the Muslim Delegates Assembly on Aug. 18 — the phrase “under God” was omitted from the pledge.

Calif. church fined $10,000 for singing, meeting inside
The pastor of a California church fined $10,000 for holding indoor worship services despite adhering to social distancing guidelines has begged Gov. Gavin Newsom to allow churches to reopen, warning that ignoring the spiritual health of the community will result in “chaos.” Last Friday, North Valley Baptist Church in Santa Clara was fined $5,000 for holding a morning service and $5,000 for the evening service in violation of orders from Gov. Newsom, who has mandated that churches in some counties refrain from indoor services amid the pandemic. The church was also served a written citation for singing in each worship service although social distancing was practiced in the auditorium that seats 3,000 people, according to a statement sent to The Christian Post.

Thousands of Swedes receive false-positive COVID-19 results
Approximately 3,700 Swedes received false-positive COVID-19 tests due to a faulty testing kit from China, according to the Reuters, citing a Tuesday statement by Sweden’s Public Health Agency – which said that the kit was unable to distinguish between a very low level of the virus and a negative result. “The supplier must adjust the performance that is required for this test to be used,” said the agency’s head microbiologist, Karin Tegmark Wiselll, who added that the test kit has been widely exported to other countries. BGI Genomics, two of whose subsidiaries are on a U.S. economic blacklist of companies implicated in human rights violations regarding China’s treatment of Uighurs, could not immediately be reached for comment. It received emergency use authorization from U.S. authorities for its coronavirus testing kits in March and got an Emergency Use Listing from the World Health Organization in May.
