The Rebuilt Jewish Temple

“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.² But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months” (Revelation 11:1-2).

Benjamin Netanyahu’s record-breaking term as prime minister ended on Sunday night when the Knesset voted to approve the new government formed by Yamina leader Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid. The new government passed at 8:55 with the support of 60 MKs, while 59 opposed it. Ra’am (United Arab List) MK Saeed Alharomi abstained. In the address, Bennett said his government would prevent the nuclearization of Iran and would not permit rocket fire on Israeli citizens from the Gaza Strip. Bennett thanked US President Joe Biden’s administration for its support during the war in Gaza and pledged to maintain bipartisan support in the US. Bennett made a point of starting his address by praising outgoing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his hard work over the years for the State of Israel and his wife, Sara, for her dedication. Netanyahu deserved credit for his outreach to Ra’am head Mansour Abbas, he said. The new government would take unprecedented steps to reach out to the Arab sector, he vowed. Lapid canceled his planned speech and merely said the behavior of MKs in the outgoing government reminded him, his mother and all citizens of Israel why it was so important to replace them.

Hamas appoints new prime minister in Gaza

Palestinian Authority perturbed about Egypt-Hamas rapprochement

As the new government was being sworn in in Israel, Hamas announced that its new prime minister assumed office in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The new premier, Issam al-Da’alis, succeeded Dr. Mohammed Awad, who resigned after two years in the job. It was not clear why Awad submitted his resignation. The handover ceremony for the Hamas prime minister was held on Sunday.  The Hamas announcement came shortly after Egypt decided to call off a meeting of Palestinian factions in Cairo to discuss the formation of a Palestinian unity government. The announcement is likely to intensify tensions between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, which has previously expressed opposition to the formation of a Hamas government in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, The Palestinian Authority is unhappy with the recent rapprochement between Egypt and Hamas, Palestinian sources said on Monday. The PA is also worried about Egypt’s continued support for deposed Fatah leader Mohammed Dahlan, an arch-rival of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the sources said.

Hamas threatens to reignite conflict over Jerusalem flag march

Hamas on Sunday threatened to take military action if the Jerusalem flag march goes ahead on Tuesday as planned, Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Monday. Citing the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, the report said that Hamas conveyed a warning to Israel through Egyptian and United Nations mediators that if the event was not canceled, the Palestinian “resistance” would take actions similar to those it took in May, during “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” when more than 4,000 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli population centers. “Instructions were issued to the missile units to prepare,” Hamas reportedly announced, while also calling on all Palestinian factions to hold a “Day of Rage” in “all parts of historic Palestine” on Tuesday, with an emphasis on the Old City of Jerusalem, to “protect” the Al-Aqsa mosque and prevent Jews from entering the Temple Mount complex.

Syria: Missile attack on Hospital, 13 killed including 2 health workers

Turkey tries to use hospital bombing for propaganda

At least 13 people, including two medical staff, have been killed and several wounded in two separate artillery attacks in the northern Syrian town of Afrin controlled by Turkey-backed fighters, activists and an aid group said on Sunday. The first attack struck a residential area, while the second hit a hospital shortly afterwards, civil defence sources told Reuters news agency. Video footage on social media showed casualties amid the ruins of the al-Shifa hospital, which went out of service after the attack. It was not immediately clear who was behind the shelling, which reportedly came from areas where Syrian government troops and Kurdish-led fighters are deployed. The governor of Turkey’s Hatay province, across the border from Afrin, and Turkey’s defence ministry also said the attack killed 13 civilians and injured 27, adding that it involved rocket and artillery shelling of the hospital. The governor’s office blamed the attack on Syrian Kurdish groups. “The shelling targeted several areas of the town and hit the hospital,” Syrian Observatory Director Rami Abdurrahman was quoted as saying by AFP news agency. The artillery fire originated from northern Aleppo province “where militia faithful to Iran and the [Syrian] regime are deployed, near the zones run by Kurdish forces”, he added.

Turkey activates military intervention pact with Palestinians

Ankara has acted to invoke the 2018 security pact that President Tayyip Erdogan signed with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas – on the same lines as Turkey’s intervention in the Libyan conflict. This step, taken on the quiet, was approved by the National Security Council in Ankara last Wednesday, June 9 and published in Turkey’s Official Gazette the next day. The accord provides for Turkey’s “Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy” to train Palestinian security forces: “Short- and long-term projects would be implemented to increase the capabilities of Palestinian law enforcement forces by providing training, consultation and technical assistance.” Also included is an intelligence-sharing clause between Turkey and the Palestinian Authority. The accord goes on to cover another highly sensitive issue: It attaches the Palestinians to the internationally condemned Turkish-Libyan agreement which aimed to illicitly partition eastern Mediterranean waters between the two signatories. This deal was designed as a grab by Ankara and Tripoli of full control of those waters and their energy deposits.  Making the Palestinians partners of this “accord” aimed at buttressing their claim to the coastal waters from the Gaza Strip and further north with a view to ousting Israel from its offshore gas and oil projects.

Protests over police abuses continue in Tunisian capital

Violent protests erupted in the streets of Tunisia’s capital again on Saturday night, adding to the pressure on Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi’s government to crack down on police abuses. The clashes occurred in the Sejoumi neighborhood of Tunis and followed protests earlier in the day in the center of the city during which protesters threw chairs and stones at the police who responded by kicking and hitting them with sticks. The release of a video this week of police stripping and beating a young man triggered widespread anger in the country and raised doubts about the credibility of police reforms undertaken after the 2011 revolution. Protests in Sejoumi broke out on Tuesday after a man arrested by police on suspicion of dealing drugs died in custody. The family accused the police of beating him to death. Tunisia’s Interior Ministry has denied the allegation. Human rights activists said police abuses have threatened to undermine the democratic gains made since the overthrow of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s repressive regime a decade ago.

Fewer nukes stockpiled in 2021, but more of them primed for launch, as US and Russia upgrade arsenals, arms watchdog reports

In 2020, the world’s nuclear powers have decreased the overall number of nuclear weapons in their possession, but more of them than a year ago are now ready to be fired at short notice, according to a report. At the start of the year, there were around 13,080 nuclear weapons stockpiled by nine nations – the US, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea – which is down from 13,400 a year prior, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reported on Monday. Yet, at the same time, the number of nukes deployed with operational forces – that is, mounted on missiles or stored where they can be quickly prepared for use – has increased by about 105, reaching 3,825. Russia and the US, the two nations holding most of the world’s nuclear weapons, were predominantly responsible for both changes, SIPRI said. Both have continued to reduce their respective arsenals by retiring outdated warheads, but also prepared for action, adding some 50 weapons each. China remains the third-largest possessor of nuclear weapons in the world, with an estimated stockpile of 350 devices, the report said. France, India, and Pakistan have also declared stockpiles, estimated at 290, 156, and 165 weapons, respectively.

China and Iran: Join Up the Dots

The Free World seems finally to be waking up to the fact that for at least a decade we have been in ‘grey war’ with the new alliance of China, Russia, Iran and N. Korea (CRINK) without openly realising it.  The whole is much more than the sum of the parts:

-Sheikh Jarrah, the ostensible cause of the latest conflict in the Middle East, is not so complicated. It is a private rent dispute, caused by squatters and by Palestinian tenants who acquired protected tenancies (not ownership) during the period of Jordanian occupation 1948-1967 when Jordan illegally sequestrated the property rights of Jewish landowners. The Palestinian tenants and squatters are refusing to pay their Israeli landlords rent for properties that have been in undisputed Jewish ownership since the middle of the 19th century….

-The Ayatollahs have, since Iran’s Revolution of 1979, like their proxies, vowed the total destruction of Israel… This goal is also inscribed in the charters of Hamas, Hezbollah and the current Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas….

-This agreement between China and Iran strengthened the hands of both countries to test the resolve of a Biden administration filled with Obama era appointees committed to two of his signature foreign policy errors, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and a dogmatic prioritisation of the so-called “Two State Solution” that is now dead and buried. With people such as Hady Amr, now the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for “Israel-Palestine,” who implausibly Biden sent to “mediate” what cannot be mediated, hope dies. Amr is parti pris: someone who once said that he was “inspired by the Palestinian intifada.” He has in the past wrongly accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and apartheid….

-Obama’s third signature error in foreign policy forms a bridge to the other set of dots to be joined up. Fifteen years ago the many small islands and reefs in the South China Sea which are now PLA bases with runways and ports, were uninhabited, many of them tidally submerged and marked with metal poles (which confer no territorial rights under UNCLOS – the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea). It was mainly on Obama’s watch that this militarisation proceeded, unchallenged, when it could and should have been nipped in the bud… If the militarisation of the South China Sea is left intact, Communist China’s navy — The Peoples’ Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) — will soon have a second and secure southern approach to Taiwan for the invasion which it has threatened for so long….

-Declaratory PLAN doctrine states that in the event of war it holds at risk US assets from Guam to the far side of Hokkaido: hence US bases in Japan. The PLA has also threatened missile attacks on Australia, where key Five Eyes intelligence assets are situated. PLA planners must be aware that these are red lines as much as an attempt to invade Taiwan. Any such actions would trigger US escalation, as recent speeches by senior USN officers have confirmed. It appears that the Communist Chinese are throwing down a gauntlet to test our resolve….

-But Communist China is not ten feet tall. As the recent failure of the PRC space station suggests, we should not automatically assume technological omnipotence. In any event, equipment does not equal capability. We should also remember, as Sun Tzu’s Art of War and the Thirty Six Stratagems of the Warring States/Three Kingdoms period both observe, that perception of power has a power of its own and that the most elegant defeat is the one incurred by the moral disarmament of the enemy….

-Over recent months, the US Dept. of Defence has been engaged in a series of technical moves of significance…They have not been much remarked… but all can be found in the professional military literature, as they should be if they are to compose a credible deterrent to make Xi Jinping think again and stay his hand….

-Iran…needs little encouragement to attack Israel, especially via its proxies where it can claim “plausible deniability”. The current bout of violence and its sequel suit Xi Jinping’s command group well as a “Dead Cat” tactic: a misdirection so that eyes are off the prime area of interest for the PRC. That area is….the recent illegal occupation of the South China Sea by this untraditional maritime power [and] the “continentalisation” of this sea-space…..

-In short Xi Jinping’s command group must be aware that many windows are closing for it and that time is not on their side unless they can persuade the Free World to self-harm sufficiently that we disarm morally. For this, there is evidence of intent and, unfortunately, of current success….

-Therefore the Free World must not fall for the Dead Cat gambit. We must firmly support Israel, the window of the West in the Middle East, and we must maintain the Abraham Accords as the best road to normalisation in that region. If we ensure that we are all awake but not woke, we thereby can resist cultural subversion and moral disarmament through the PRC Ministry of State Security… ‘make friends for China’ strategy within our body politic. In these ways, the threat posed to us by the most patient, intelligent, malign and formidable enemy that we have faced, can be defeated….

After Inflation Earnings of Americans Have Declined in Every Month of the Biden Presidency

The real earnings of American workers fell for the fifth consecutive month in May as inflation erased all of the month’s wage gains and more. Real average hourly earnings for working Americans fell 0.1 percent in May compared with April, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Thursday show. This decline in real earnings occurred even though average hourly earnings increased as employers scrambled to fill open positions. What happened was that these wage gains were more than offset by the increase of 0.6 percent in the Consumer Price Index. So Americans were paid more but those gains were swamped by inflation. Average weekly real earnings fell as well, dropping to $334.09 from $335.60, even though there was no change in the average hours worked. The wage decline was even more pronounced for workers the government describes as “production and nonsupervisory employees”—in other words, not the bosses. These workers saw a 0.2 percent decline in May because their 0.4 percent wage increase was overwhelmed by the rise in prices. Real average weekly earnings for these employees fell 0.4 percent over the month due to the change in real average hourly earnings combined with a decrease of 0.3 percent in average weekly hours. This was the fifth consecutive month in which inflation-adjusted hourly earnings fell and the fourth in which weekly earnings fell.

Mayors of American cities have yearned for the moment they could usher in a return to normalcy, casting away coronavirus restrictions on bars, restaurants, parties and public gatherings. Yet now, even with reopenings underway across the United States as the pandemic recedes, city leaders must contend with another crisis: a crime wave with no signs of ending. They are cheerleading the return of office workers to downtowns and encouraging tourists to visit, eager to rejuvenate the economy and build public confidence. But they are also frantically trying to quell a surge of homicides, assaults and carjackings that began during the pandemic and has cast a chill over the recovery. In Austin, Texas, for example, 14 people were injured early Saturday morning in a mass shooting as revelers jammed a popular downtown nightlife district. Some city officials have touted progressive strategies focused on community policing in neighborhoods where trust between police officers and residents has frayed. Others have deployed more traditional tactics like increasing surveillance cameras in troubled areas and enforcing curfews in city parks to clear out crowds, as the police did in Washington Square Park in Manhattan in recent days.

Asteroid 2021 LG5 flew past Earth at 0.41 LD

A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 LG5 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.41 LD / 0.00106 AU (158 573 km / 98 533 miles) at 22:19 UTC on June 12, 2021. This is the 65th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 4th so far this month. 2021 LG5 was first observed at Pan-STARRS 1, Haleakala, Hawaii on June 11, one day before its close approach. The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 4.8 and 11 m (15.7 – 36 feet). It flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 15.83 km/s.

Formation of new government completed

The new unity government led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid will be brought to a vote of confidence and sworn in during a special session of the Knesset on Sunday, Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin announced Tuesday. At the same special session on Sunday, a vote will be held to replace Levin as Knesset speaker with Yesh Atid MK Mickey Levy. Lapid and Bennett met with New Hope leader Gideon Sa’ar at Sa’ar’s home in Tel Aviv on Tuesday to settle their final differences before Friday’s deadline for coalition agreements to be submitted. Solutions had been found to disputes between New Hope MK Ze’ev Elkin and MKs further to the Left, they announced afterward. Elkin’s objections included keeping Defense Minister Benny Gantz in charge of monitoring Palestinian building in Israeli-controlled areas of the West Bank and Labor MK Gilad Kariv, who is a Reform rabbi, possibly becoming Diaspora affairs minister.

U.S. warns Israel ‘far-right provocations’ could light up Jerusalem

The Biden administration warned Israel that a Jewish nationalist march that was scheduled to take place in East Jerusalem next Tuesday could reignite violence across Israel and kick off another round of fighting in the Gaza Strip, Ynet has learned on Thursday. U.S. officials conveyed to Defense Minister Benny Gantz they expected Israel to avoid moves that could further escalate tensions, and especially what they call “far-right provocations.” The so-called “March of Flags” was supposed to take on Thursday but police ordered to postpone the event, fearing it would provoke local Palestinians to attack marchers. The rally usually takes place on Jerusalem Day but was interrupted this year when Hamas fired a barrage of rockets at the capital from the Gaza Strip, marking the start of an 11-day conflict between the IDF and the Palestinian enclave’s terrorist factions. It was also called off in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In late-night consultations Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tasked Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai with providing alternative routes so that the march could go ahead. Ministers voted Tuesday to allow the controversial far-right march to take place in Jerusalem’s Old City next Tuesday, June 15, with a new route to be decided between the rally’s organizers and police.

Saudi Arabia-Syria in rapprochement talks

Saudi Arabia is close to reaching an agreement on diplomatic normalisation with President Bashar al-Assad’s government, as Riyadh jockeys to play a lead role in removing the Iranian presence from Syria, Al Jazeera has been told by those with close knowledge of the discussions. According to a senior official from the Syrian opposition Free Officer’s Movement, who maintains close contacts within the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Intelligence Directorate (GID), “the political mood within the House of Saud has changed, many senior royals, particularly Mohammad bin Salman [MBS] himself, are keen to reengage with Assad”. According to a Damascus-based official from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs who was privy to the recent talks with Riyadh, “MBS is engaged in efforts to defuse tensions with The Islamic Republic of Iran by engaging with Syria.” According to the official, “MBS instructed his team to reassure Syria that he does not want regime change against Bashar, and that Syria, as a brotherly Arab nation, should naturally be close to Saudi Arabia”. The official claimed this was “clearly also intended as a signal” to the Iranian leadership that Riyadh “recognises that the side of the war in which … [Iran] most heavily invested won, and that it will not try to challenge that reality”.

8 killed, 27 wounded after Houthis launch missile, drone strikes on Marib Yemen

Eight people were killed and 27 wounded after ballistic missiles and explosive-rigged drones launched by Iran-backed Houthis struck several locations across Marib, officials told Arab News. Thunderous explosions rocked the city in central Yemen late on Thursday. Abdul Aziz Al-Shadadi, director of Marib’s office of the Ministry of Health, said that ambulances were still treating people in the targeted areas. “Explosions occurred at different residential areas in Marib,” Al-Shadadi said. Residents said that they heard large explosions caused by the missiles and the Yemeni army’s air defense targeting drones. The Yemeni army said in a statement that the Houthis targeted Marib with two ballistic missiles and two explosive drones.

Syria intercepts missile over Damascus amid Israeli airstrikes

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Wednesday said that Israeli airstrikes in Syria killed at least eleven government troops even as Syria said it had intercepted an Israeli missile strike over capital Damascus. The strikes reportedly targeted Lebanese Hezbollah positions in Khirbet al-Tin on the outskirts of Homs including an arms depot. The strikes were carried out shortly before midnight on Tuesday. The Israeli military however hasn’t confirmed the strikes.

Iraq: Rockets land near US forces and contractors

Rockets landed near US forces and contractors in Iraq on Wednesday, including an air base north of Baghdad and a military base at Baghdad International Airport, the Iraqi army and security officials said, according to Reuters. At least three rockets hit Balad air base, where US contractors are based. At least one rocket hit shortly afterwards near the airport at a base which US military aircraft use. Rocket attacks have regularly targeted Iraqi bases as well as the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, where the US embassy is located, since the US elimination of top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani last January.

2 Iranian warships cruising the Atlantic, Iran confirms – suspected weapons shipment to Venezuela

Russia to give Iran advanced satellite that could track IDF bases – report

On Thursday, an Iranian official announced two Iranian warships have entered the Atlantic Ocean, confirming reports last month that the ships were bound for the open waters. In comments reported by the Iranian state-run Press TV, Iranian Rear Adml. Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Chief of Army for Coordination, said Iran’s Makran cargo ship and the domestically-built Sahand destroyer, have entered the Atlantic Ocean. Sayyari’s remarks come after the Makran, a converted oil tanker now used as a cargo ship by the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN), was spotted by Satellite imagery on April 28, with seven smaller armed Iranian attack boats loaded on its deck. U.S. officials speculated the Iranian cargo ship, which linked up with the Sahand destroyer, is transporting the Iranian attack boats and other arms to Venezuela. Meanwhile, Russia is preparing to provide Iran with an advanced satellite that would enable it to track potential military targets across the Middle East, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. The satellite is projected to have the ability to track long-range targets, including IDF bases, as well as oil refineries throughout the Persian Gulf and Iraqi bases for US troops. The plan would deliver a Russian-made Kanopus-V satellite equipped with a high-resolution camera which could be launched from Russia within months, the Post said.

A prominent fast-food company announced that it’s donating nearly half of the proceeds from its sales of chicken sandwiches to an LGBT activist group while taking a shot at one of its competitors. Burger King, one of the largest and most popular global fast food companies, sent out a tweet Thursday announcing that “the #ChKing says LGBTQ+ rights!” The tweet, which is now pinned to the Burger King Twitter account, referred to the Ch’King, the restaurant chain’s newly created chicken sandwich. “During #pridemonth (even on Sundays) your chicken sandwich craving can do good! We are making a donation* to @HRC for every Ch’King sold!” Burger King will donate 40 cents to the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBT activist group in the United States, for every Ch’King sold between June 3 and June 30. The reference to Sundays in the tweet is seen as a veiled swipe at Chick-fil-A, another major fast-food chain that, unlike nearly all of its primary competitors, does not open on Sundays because of the religious beliefs of the restaurant chain’s founders. Steve Cortes, a Newsmax host and former Trump campaign employee, took issue with Burger King’s jab at Chick-fil-A for closing on Sundays: “This corporation makes it clear it mocks Christians (and other religious people) and doesn’t want our business.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said it had received more than 200,000 reports of adverse effects following vaccination for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). According to the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), data from Dec. 14 of last year until May 14 of this year showed 227,805 post-vaccination adverse events. It also noted 943 adverse events among those aged 12 to 17. Co-managed by the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), VAERS is the U.S. government’s tracking system for any events related to vaccination. Its data comes from reports voluntarily submitted to the system. VAERS then publicizes all vaccine injury reports it receives as of a specific date every Friday – usually up to a week before the data becomes public. VAERS data from Dec. 14 of last year until May 14 of this year showed 227,805 reports of adverse events. These included 18,528 serious injuries and 4,201 fatalities related to COVID-19 vaccination. Of the 93 adverse events in teenagers, 23 were recorded as serious.

Drought Conditions Favorable for Toxic Cyanobacteria

Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, can produce toxins that are harmful to livestock, wildlife and people. The growth of this bacteria is aided by high temperatures. “The hot, dry conditions we are experiencing are perfect for the production of cyanobacteria,” says Miranda Meehan, North Dakota State University Extension livestock environmental stewardship specialist. “Much of the state is at an increased risk due to the widespread drought affecting 99% of the state.” Given the current conditions, producers and the public should be on the lookout for cyanobacteria blooms. Blue-green algae often occurs in stagnant ponds or dugouts with elevated nutrient levels, forming large colonies that appear as scum on or just below the water surface. Live cyanobacterial blooms can be green, but also red or yellow, and often turn blue after the bloom dies and dries on the water surface or shoreline. Some species of cyanobacteria can be toxic when livestock and wildlife ingest them. Toxicity is dependent on the species consuming the water, the concentration of the toxin or toxins and the amount of water ingested.

Lake Mead Plunges To Record Low Amid Drought

Much of the Western half of the US is in a severe drought, and parts of the Southwest are “exceptionally dry,” the worst category, according to US Drought Monitor. Taking this into account, the iconic Hoover Dam has just recorded the smallest amount of water inside Lake Mead since the 1930s. The damming of the Colorado River at the Nevada-Arizona border created Lake Mead and supplies water to 25 million people, including in the cities of Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson, Los Angeles, and San Diego. We’ve explained in the past if Lake Mead drops to dangerously low levels, the entire town of Las Vegas is absolutely screwed because two pipes, known as straws, are at elevation 1,050 feet and 1,000 feet. However, a third straw was recently constructed at 860 feet just in case the water level continued to drop. For Vegas to prevent a total collapse if Lake Mead continues to drop, it will have to continue constructing straws at lower and lower depths. As of Wednesday, the lake’s water level sank to 1,071.56 feet above sea level and broke the record low in July 2016. Since the early 2000s, the water level has plunged 140 feet due to years of drought that has gripped the region.

A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 LX1 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.42 LD / 0.00107 AU (160 069 km / 99 462 miles) at 04:31 UTC on June 4, 2021. This is the 63rd known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the second so far this month. The object was first observed at ATLAS-HKO, Haleakala, Hawai on June 5, one day after its close approach. The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 9.6 and 22 m (31.4 – 72.1 feet).

Large cloud of Saharan dust reaches the Caribbean and South America

A large cloud of Saharan dust moving across the Atlantic Ocean over the past week has reached the Caribbean and South America. The dust will remain over the region for the next couple of days, limiting visibility and lowering air quality. After that, it’s expected to head toward the southeastern United States. The largest Saharan dust cloud in 50 years — dubbed the “Godzilla dust cloud — engulfed the Caribbean in June 2020, causing record hazardous air quality levels. “SAL activity typically ramps up in mid-June and peaks from late June to mid-August, with new outbreaks occurring every three to five days.  During this peak period, it is common for individual SAL outbreaks to reach farther to the west—as far west as Florida, Central America, and even Texas—and cover extensive areas of the Atlantic (sometimes as large as the lower 48 United States),” said Dr. Jason Dunion, a University of Miami hurricane researcher working with NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory.

Since 2009,  I warned you what is going to happen in the near future concerning UFO’s . On November 11, 2009 for example, as you will see below is what I stated. I also give you the link at the end of the quote if you want to go to that post.

I quote myself “Prophecy Sign: In part of Luke 21: we are told, “and great signs shall there be from heaven”. Take a look at what I wrote you on my post dated November 11, 2009. “Does anyone remember the warning I gave you from my Oct. 5, and 22 posts that you will soon hear more news about aliens from our world leaders.” Prophecy Sign: 2 Thessalonians 2:9-13 says the following: “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.”

I don’t know for sure but it is a good possibility that the powerful delusion may be coming in the form of UFO’s. Think about this for a moment. What if after the world sees these strange UFO’s that the rapture of the Church takes place. The Antichrist could come out and say all the evil people were taken off the planet when in fact it was the Lord’s righteous that we taken form the Earth. There is no doubt in my mind that the “counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders” Jesus warned about could come as a result of these UFO’s.” (end of quote)

Prophecy Sign: Is there a connection between all these UFO sighting and all the new talk about UFO’s,and the last days? I want to give you a site that addresses this issue, and the very words Jesus warned us from Matthew chapter 24 about the signs in the sky.

English theologian George Hawkins Pember, in his 1876 masterpiece, Earth’s Earliest Ages, analyzed the prophecy of Jesus Christ that says the end times would be a repeat of “the days of Noah.” Pember outlined the seven great causes of the antediluvian destruction and documented their developmental beginnings in his lifetime. The seventh and most fearful sign, Pember wrote, would be the return of the spirits of Nephilim, “the appearance upon earth of beings from the Principality of the Air, and their unlawful intercourse with the human race.”

Jesus Himself, in answering His disciples concerning the signs of His coming and of the end of the world, said it would be “as the days of [Noah] were” (Matthew 24:37). The implication is, just as it was before the Flood when the spirits of Nephilim were powerful upon earth (Genesis 6:4), mankind would experience an end-times renaissance of the influence of these entities. From Scripture we are made to understand the purpose of this latter-day wave of supernaturalism includes deception (2 Timothy 3:13), and the effect upon mankind would be so successful that heresy and delusion would become firmly entrenched—even within institutionalized Christianity. In writing of this scenario, Paul prophesied to Timothy that “in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Timothy 4:1).”

The web-site I have given you the link for gives you a lot of information about the Nephilim.  We know for sure we have reached the last days and have come to the point where our generation has become like Noah’s.  Does this also mean that the Nephilim will return as they were during Noah’s generation?  I think it would be a very strong delusion that would cause many who now believe in Jesus to turn from Him and heed the seducing spirits.  Could these UFO’s sighting be the prelude to the coming Niphilim?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu harshly criticized his political rival, Yamina Party leader Naftali Bennett, on Sunday, calling him a “habitual liar” and saying that the government he is forming together with Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid constitutes a threat to Israel’s national security. “The left is using Bennett as a tool to crown itself once again, and Bennett is using [the left] as a tool to get himself into the Prime Minister’s Office,” Netanyahu told Channel 20. As a result, he said, the country was entering dangerous territory. The so-called “change” coalition posed a greater risk to the country than the Oslo process and the 2005 Gaza disengagement, said Netanyahu. “I warned—you remember this—I warned at Oslo, and I said there would rise terror strongholds in the heart of the country. And we saw the exploding buses. When I resigned from the government during the [Gaza] disengagement, I warned that the entire country, or at least a large part of it, would turn into a firing range [for Hamas rockets]. And I was right. I was right about this, too,” he said. “And now I warn: The danger posed by this [forming] government is much greater … because there is a threat here, first of all, to our national security,” he added. The prospective government would be weak on Iran and would not stand up to the United States, said Netanyahu, and would not take action, other than lip service, to halt the Iranian nuclear program.

Egypt infuriates Israel, lets Hamas rearm for a fresh round of rocket aggression

With Hamas threats pouring out at the rate of one a day, Israel’s military charges Egypt’s General Intelligence chief Gen. Abbas Kamal of playing a double game when he brokered the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, endorsed by the US and Qatar. That ceasefire ended the IDF operation to halt the Palestinian rocket blitz from the Gaza Strip and was supposed to decelerate the high tension over Gaza. However, under Israel’s eye, Gen. Kamal is systematically undoing the IDF’s gains in that operation and allowing Hamas leaders free rein. A security source, cited by DEBKAfile, accused the Egyptian general of all-round cheating and harboring ulterior motives: 

To enhance President Abdel-Fatteh Sisi’s standing with the Biden administration and present him as the only player capable of dealing with the Palestinian dossier.
To burnish the president’s image as a go-getter in Arab Gulf capitals.
To dwarf Israel’s success and its military’s high repute – even if this means letting Hamas loose for another rocket blitz to puncture the IDF’s deterrence.

Military sources are not sure if General Kamal is acting on President Sisi’s orders or as a lone agent with silent presidential approval.  But Cairo exceeded every bound of credibility as an honest broker when on Friday June 4, Egyptian state television depicted scores of heavy engineering equipment and convoys of trucks laden with building materials bound for the Gaza Strip on the orders of President Sisi. This traffic was described officially as destined for reconstructing the damage wrought by Israel’s bombardment. Our sources report that these convoys have for the last 10 days been making their way from Port Said across Sinai to the Gaza Strip. Their freight includes equipment and lengths of piping cut to size for use in the Hamas workshops that are replenishing its stocks of rockets that were depleted by more than 4,000 fired into Israel’s towns and villages. For faster delivery, the intelligence chief has opened up the new “The Saladin Crossing” which is situated near Kerem Shalom which Israel controls. The Israeli military pointed to Cairo’s double game on this score too. While shutting down Hamas; arms smuggling tunnels through Sinai, Egypt has now opened a new route to supply the Palestinian terrorist rulers of Gaza with the same items.

Iran’s proxies in Iraq increase drone war against US forces

US forces in Iraq face increasing drone threats linked to Iran. This has been known for months since drones first began appearing among pro-Iranian militias in Iraq. Initially used by Kataib Hezbollah and other pro-Iranian groups in Iraq to threaten Saudi Arabia, they have now been turned on the US. Two drones were intercepted by air-defense systems at al-Asad Airbase, Iraq’s Security Media Cell, which releases information regarding Iraqi security, reported Sunday. On May 8, a drone targeted the same base, allegedly flown by pro-Iran militias targeting US forces. In April, a drone attack targeted a secret CIA hangar in Erbil at the international airport, which is inside the sprawling coalition base. The full details of the attack were only revealed later in a report by The Washington Post. This is after two years in which the militias used 107-mm. and 122-mm. rockets to target US facilities. Initially, these attacks targeted the numerous facilities that the US had at places such as Q-West, K-1 and other Iraqi bases used for the fight against ISIS. After US retaliatory airstrikes and increasing calls for the US to leave Iraq, the US consolidated forces at al-Asad Airbase, Baghdad and Erbil. Iran then turned its attention to those sites.

Blast at Iranian steel plant, latest in series of incidents

An explosion and fire were reported at the Zarand Iranian Steel Company in eastern Iran on Saturday night, in the latest in a series of similar incidents throughout Iran, according to Iranian media. Video reportedly from the scene showed a large blaze with what appeared to be an explosion launching debris into the air. The Iranian IRNA news reported that a large explosion occurred during the incident. The governor of Zarand told the Iranian Fars News Agency that no injuries were caused in the incident and that the incident was under control. The incident was reportedly caused by the sudden overflow of molten material in the blast furnace, with the governor stressing that no explosion occurred. The fire at the steel plant is the latest in a series of similar incidents that have plagued Iran in recent weeks. Last year, a series of explosions and fires hit industrial sites across Iran, including a number of petrochemical plants. Iranian officials referred to most of the cases as incidents or accidents, although some reports have claimed that at least some of them involved foul play.

A blast struck a checkpoint in the southern Libyan city of Sebha on Sunday, killing at least two people including a senior police officer, local police, city officials and medics said. A security source in Sebha said the blast was caused by a suicide bomber who detonated a car bomb. Islamic State claimed late on Sunday responsibility for the attack, saying one of its militants stormed the checkpoint using an explosive-laden car. But while the installation of a unified administration and a push for national elections in December are seen as the best hope in years for a lasting political solution, the process is still fraught with challenges. Most territory is still controlled by local armed groups, major outside powers have not pulled foreign fighters from the front lines, and key figures disagree on the management of Libya’s economic resources.

Scotland’s largest teacher’s union, The Education Institute of Scotland,–which boasts representation of around eighty percent of Scotland’s public educators–is hosting a line-up of LGBTQ and drag performers to celebrate Pride Month as part of its campaign to promote sexual indoctrination in public schools. As part of the event line-up, among other transsexual and drag performances, will be one particularly blasphemous performance titled The Gospel According to Jesus, Queen of Heaven. It will be performed by Jo Clifford, a feminist drag performer, who will present Jesus as a “transgender woman” when he returns to Earth. Laughably, Clifford says the performance is not meant to be sacrilegious. The Christian Institute’s education officer, John Denning has described the play as “deeply offensive” for Christian members of the EIS. “This play deliberately re-imagines Jesus as a trans woman and puts words into his mouth that he never said, misrepresenting him. That’s deeply distressing and offensive for many Christians who value him and his teaching above all.

74% of California and 52% of the Western U.S. now in ‘exceptional’ drought

Drought conditions in California remain at record highs, with most of the state now classified in “extreme” or “exceptional” drought, reflecting conditions across the Southwest, according to a new report from climate scientists. Much of the Bay Area and the northern Central Valley have been included in the most severe “exceptional drought” zone, along with much of southeast California, the U.S. Drought Monitor reported. The new projections, released Thursday, show that every acre of California is affected by dryness and that the entire Bay Area and around 74% of the state are at least in “extreme” conditions. In the Western U.S., that condition extends to about 53% of the region.

Two shallow M5.9 earthquakes hit off the coast of southern Oregon, U.S. at 07:52 and 08:17 UTC on June 4, 2021, at a depth of 16.6 km (10.3 miles) and 14.5 km (9 miles), respectively. They were located around 12 km (7.4 miles) from each other and followed by 5 moderately strong aftershocks over the next 15 hours. 13 M6+ earthquakes have occurred within 200 km (124 miles) in the last 50 years. The largest of which was a M7.2 earthquake on June 15, 2005. These earthquakes occurred as the result of shallow strike-slip faulting within a deformed section of the southernmost oceanic crust of the Juan de Fuca plate, commonly called the Gorda plate, west of the Cascadia subduction zone, the USGS said. Focal mechanism solutions indicate that rupture occurred on either a left-lateral northeast-southwest-striking fault or on a right-lateral southeast-northwest-striking fault. Near the location of the earthquakes, the Juan de Fuca plate moves to the northeast relative to the North America plate at a velocity of about 30 mm (1.18 inches) per year.

Turkey’s Sea of Marmara experiences the largest outbreak of “sea snot” on record

A large amount of thick, viscous, mucus-like substance known as marine mucilage or sea snot (phytoplankton bloom) is covering the coastline of the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul, Turkey, threatening marine life and the local fishing industry. Sea snot is caused by the overgrowth of phytoplankton — microscopic marine algae — due to pollution. Sea snot was first reported in the Maramar Sea in 2007 but the latest outbreak is thought to be the largest in history, local media report. Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said the cause of the latest increase in phytoplankton coating the surface of the Maramar Sea is unrefined wastewater discharged into the sea, adding that he had instructed Environment Minister Murat Kurum to lead the resolution of this issue. Erdogan also said the problem could spread to the Black Sea. With a team of 300 people, the ministry is currently carrying out inspections at 91 different points of the Sea of Marmara, as well as all wastewater refinement and solid waste facilities on land, to detect the source of the pollution, he said.

Israel opposition face deadline to form new government

Jewish Agency chairman Isaac Herzog will be the 11th president of the State of Israel after he received 87 votes from MKs in a secret ballot vote in the Knesset plenum. It was the largest victory in any presidential election in Israel’s history. Herzog will take over for President Reuven Rivlin when his term ends on July 9. A veteran politician, Herzog is a former head of the Labor Party, a former leader of opposition, a former welfare and diaspora minister and is the son of Chaim Herzog, who served as Israel’s president from 1983 to 1993. Herzog thanked all the MKs who voted for him and said it was an honor to serve the entire people of Israel. Meanwhile, Israeli opposition leaders say they are close to forming a new government that would end Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year stretch as prime minister. The head of the centrist Yesh Atid party, Yair Lapid, has until midnight (21:00 GMT) to form a coalition. However, he has yet to reach a final agreement with Naftali Bennett’s right-wing nationalist Yamina party. Mr Bennett is expected to become the prime minister ahead of Mr Lapid under a rotation arrangement. Mr Netanyahu and his right-wing Likud party have been appealing to any wavering right-wing politicians not to join the coalition, knowing that a new government would still face a vote of confidence in parliament before it could be sworn in. If it fails to win the support of a majority in the 120-seat Knesset, there is a risk of the country having to go to elections for the fifth time in two years.

Iran’s largest warship catches fire, sinks in Gulf of Oman

The largest warship in the Iranian navy caught fire and later sank Wednesday in the Gulf of Oman under unclear circumstances, the latest calamity to strike one of the country’s vessels in recent years amid tensions with the West. The blaze began around 2:25 a.m. and firefighters tried to contain it, the Fars news agency reported, but their efforts failed to save the 207-meter (679-foot) Kharg, which was used to resupply other ships in the fleet at sea and conduct training exercises. State media reported 400 sailors and trainee cadets on board fled the vessel, with 33 suffering injuries. The ship sank near the Iranian port of Jask, some 1,270 kilometers (790 miles) southeast of Tehran on the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf. Satellite photos from Planet Labs Inc. analyzed by The Associated Press showed the Kharg off Jask with no sign of a fire as late as 11 a.m. Tuesday. Iranian officials offered no cause for the fire aboard the Kharg, though they said an investigation had begun. It comes after a series of mysterious explosions that began in 2019 targeting commercial ships in the Gulf of Oman.

North Korea warned the United States it was creating an “acute and instable situation” in the region Monday following a recent summit between President Joe Biden and South Korean President Moon Jae-In. The warning was North Korea’s first response to the May 21 summit between the U.S. and South Korean leaders at the White House, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Biden and Moon had agreed in a joint statement to end decades-long restrictions on South Korea’s missile program. The U.S. initially barred South Korea from developing missiles with a range of longer than 500 miles over concerns about a regional arms race. The ending of restrictions would allow South Korea to produce missiles capable of striking all of North Korea but stop short of striking potential targets in China and Japan, according to the AP. In a statement released Monday in North Korea’s state news agency, Kim Myong Chol, an unofficial government spokesman who the agency described as an “international affairs critic,” accused the U.S. of applying a double standard as it has sought to prevent Pyongyang from developing long-range missiles for years. “The U.S. is mistaken, however. It is a serious blunder for it to pressurize [North Korea] by creating asymmetric imbalance in and around the Korean Peninsula as this may lead to the acute and instable situation on the Korean Peninsula now technically at war,” Kim said. Kim also said that Washington and Seoul have “made clear their ambition of aggression” and accused the two countries of trying to start a regional arms race. He warned that Pyongyang will continue to bolster “its capabilities for self-defense.”

A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 KT2 will fly past Earth at a distance of 0.76 LD / 0.00195 AU (291 715 km / 181 263 miles) at 22:44 UTC on June 1, 2021. This is the 61st known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 4th in 48 hours. 2021 KT2 was first observed at Mt. Report: Hamas coordinated Gaza war with Iran, Hezbollah in joint military room

Senior leaders of the Gaza Strip-ruling Hamas terrorist organization and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) worked reportedly in close coordination with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Hezbollah to discuss military operations during the 11 days of fighting with Israel. The editor-in-chief of the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, Ibrahim Al-Amin, said during an interview with Hezbollah-operated Al-Manar TV that the IRGC, Hezbollah and Hamas set up a joint military operations room in Beirut during the May hostilities in Israel and the Gaza Strip. The channel’s report said that Al-Amin claimed “officers from Hezbollah, IRGC, and Hamas coordinated the military confrontation in Gaza” and “the Commander of IRGC’s Al-Quds Force, General Esmail Qaani, visited Lebanon twice to attend the chamber meetings.”

Hamas Gaza governor Yahya Sinwar says the terror group is ready for “immediate negotiations” to reach a prisoner exchange with Israel. Sinwar makes the comments following a meeting with Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel. Hamas holds two Israeli civilians captive — Hisham al-Sayed and Avner Mengistu — as well as the bodies of two Israeli soldiers — Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul. Israeli officials have said they will condition allowing the reconstruction of Gaza to go forward on progress in reaching a deal with Hamas that secures the return of the two captives and the two bodies. Hamas has consistently said it rejects tying rebuilding Gaza after the recent hostilities to a deal with Israel on the matter.

Iran, bolstered by its increased unmanned aerial capabilities through encouraging Hamas to try to strike Israel with them from Gaza, after it flew a UAV into northern Israel on May 18 and when it used one in April to attack a CIA hangar in northern Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, has now celebrated new Houthi drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Iran-backed drone war is now threatening or has involved Syria, Iraq, Israel, Yemen and other states in the region. Iran’s major drone contribution has been to Yemen, where it supplied expertise and equipment, such as gyroscopes and other specialist parts, to aid an indigenous industry for UAV manufacturing. “According to Fars News Agency’s International Group, Brig.-Gen. Yahya Sari, the official spokesman for the [Houthi] Yemeni Armed Forces, announced that King Khalid Air Base was once again targeted by a Yemeni drone,” an Iranian report said Monday. Meanwhile, The U.S. national security community is monitoring two Iranian naval vessels whose ultimate destination may be Venezuela, according to three people familiar with the situation, in what would be a provocative move at a tense moment in U.S.-Iran relations. U.S. officials do not know for sure the destination of the Iranian ships, these officials said, but believe they may be ultimately headed for Venezuela. The mere presence of Iranian warships in America’s backyard would represent a challenge to U.S. authority in the region — and would likely inflame the debate in Washington over President Joe Biden’s decision to re-open negotiations with Tehran.

Mayor of Colombia’s Cali reports 13 deaths, says many were possibly protest-related

The Colombian army has begun to tighten its control over the city of Cali following weeks of deadly anti-government protests there. Streets are reported to be largely deserted after President Iván Duque ordered the military intervention. Speaking at a news conference in Cali, Mr Duque said he was sending in the “maximum deployment of military assistance” to the police. “This deployment will almost triple our capacity in less than 24 hours throughout the state, ensuring assistance as well at critical points, where we have seen acts of vandalism, violence and low-intensity urban terrorism,” he said. At least five people died in Cali on Friday night, the latest casualties in a month of protests which have claimed dozens of lives. The protests began in April over a proposed tax increase. The tax plan was withdrawn but the protests grew to cover police violence, poverty and Colombia’s health crisis. Two weeks of negotiations between the government and protesters have stalled. The military intervention includes several other areas of the country. Demonstrators in the capital, Bogotá, said they would return to the streets on Sunday to call for a halt to police violence.

The Worst-Kept Secret in America: High Inflation Is Back

Prices expected to continue rising this summer

To most people, “inflation” signifies widespread rising prices. Economists have long argued, as a matter of technical accuracy, that “inflation” denotes an increasing money supply. Frankly, though, most people don’t care what happens to the supply of money, but they care a lot about the prices they pay, so I’ll focus primarily on the numerous rapidly rising prices Americans are paying today. Following are several examples of the current inflation: Corn, soybeans, and wheat have been trading at multi-year highs, with corn having risen from around $3.80 per bushel in January 2020 to approximately $6.75 now. Chicken wings are at all-time record highs. It is getting more expensive to eat. Copper prices have risen to an all-time high. Steel, too, recently traded at prices 35% above the previous all-time set in 2008. Perhaps most famously, the price of lumber has nearly quadrupled since the beginning of 2020 and has nearly doubled just since January. Naturally, with raw materials prices soaring, prices of manufactured goods are jumping, too. That is especially noticeable in the housing market, where the median price of existing homes rose to $329,100 in March—a whopping 17.2% increase from a year earlier. The cost of driving is soaring, too. According to J.D. Power, cited in The Wall Street Journal, the average used car price has risen 16.7% and new car prices have risen 9.6% since January. The CPI, excluding food and energy, rose “only” 0.9% in March. That doesn’t sound like much, but it was the biggest one-month increase since 1981 when, for those of you too young to remember, annual inflation was 10.32%. As for the Producer Price Index (PPI), which generally precedes increases in consumer prices, it is increasing at the highest rate since 2010, according to the Department of Labor. Today’s inflation is already problematical. A higher cost of living falls hardest on the poorest Americans. Given the present uncertainty about future prices, numerous businesses are struggling to determine how much to produce, and thus are more likely to over-produce or under-produce. Furthermore, if inflation causes foreigners to lose confidence in the dollar, there could be an exodus from the dollar that could end its status as the principal global reserve currency, thereby triggering an even steeper decline in the dollar’s purchasing power.

Brazil on drought alert, faces worst dry spell in 91 years

Brazil’s government agencies warned of droughts this week as the country faces its worst dry spell in 91 years, increasing fears of energy rationing, hitting hydroelectric power generation and agriculture while raising the risk of Amazon fires. Late on Thursday, the Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee (CMSE), which is linked to Brazil’s Mines and Energy Ministry, recommended that the water regulator ANA recognize a state of “water scarcity,” after a prolonged drought hit Central and Southern parts of Brazil along the Paraná river basin. Separately, a weather monitoring agency linked to the Agriculture Ministry issued its first “emergency drought alert” for June to September, saying rains are likely to remain scarce in five Brazilian states during that period. The lack of rain across much of Brazil has negative implications for grain cultivation, livestock and electricity generation, as Brazil relies heavily on hydro dams for its power. The dry weather could lead to severe fires in the Amazon rainforest and Pantanal wetlands, scientists said.

Meanwhile, asteroid designated 2021 KO2 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.96 LD / 0.00248 AU (371 002 km / 230 530 miles) from the center of our planet on May 30, 2021. This is the 59th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 8th so far this month. The object was first observed at Tokyo-Kiso, Japan on May 30, just a few hours before its close approach. 2021 KO2 belongs to the Aten group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 6.6 and 15 m (21.6 – 49.2 feet). The object flew past us at 04:01 UTC at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 15.01 km/s.

Historic rainfall hits New Zealand, causing severe flooding

Hundreds of residents in north Canterbury in New Zealand have been evacuated amid severe flooding fuelled by a one-in-100-year heavy rain over the weekend. According to NIWA, the rainfall was 200 to 400 percent of normal for the month of May, causing rivers to rise and flood. A state of emergency has been declared on Sunday, May 30, 2021, as flooding threatened thousands of homes. The New Zealand MetService has issued a rare Red Warning for Heavy Rain for the Canterbury region prior to the deluge. “This is only the second red warning issued by MetService [for the Canterbury region] and this will be a significant weather event,” the service said in a statement. Heavy rains began soaking the region on Saturday, May 29, causing rivers to rapidly rise, damaging roads and bridges, and flooding many properties. About 300 people have been forced to evacuate in Waimakariri and Timaru, while thousands of others in Ashburton were advised to prepare in case they need to flee.

Rebuilding the Gaza Strip and creating opportunities for its residents would hurt Hamas, not help it, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on his visit to Jerusalem on Tuesday. “If we do this right,” Blinken said, “reconstruction and relief for the people of Gaza, far from empowering Hamas, has the potential to undermine it. I say that because Hamas thrives, unfortunately, on despair, misery, desperation, on a lack of opportunity.” Rebuilding of Gaza would not only answer immediate needs for water and electricity, but should “offer genuine prospect for opportunity, progress and material improvement in people’s lives,” he said in a news conference. If the US, UN, Israel, the Palestinian Authority and others work toward that aim, “Hamas’s foothold in Gaza will slip,” Blinken argued. “We know that, and I think Hamas knows that.” Israel has said that any aid to Gaza must be closely watched to ensure that it does not reach Hamas, with the Defense Ministry working this week on developing such a system.

The rocket volley that was launched on Jerusalem and opened “Operation Guardian of the Walls” was much more than just a premeditated military maneuver — this was a blunt and conscious violation of the status quo in the Gaza Strip for the past year and a half which stood in the heart of what could be called “the Israel strategy” on the issue. This escalation in violence did not come amid a deteriorating security situation or some sort of civilian hardships as happened leading up to the 2014 Gaza war. Quite the opposite. The recent fighting came as quality of life in the Gaza Strip was continually improving and after Israel promoted many nods designed to ensure civilian stability in the Palestinian enclave — from issuing traders exit permits, through promoting exports from the seaside territory, to expanding its fishing zone and providing broad assistance to help eradicate COVID-19. Hamas’ opening shot and its use of Israel’s conduct in Jerusalem as an excuse attest to how the terror outfit perceives the status quo: a bind of nebulous understandings from which it can opt in and out according to its whims. The Israeli side, however, worked its fingers to the bone to preserve the arrangement that was seen as a guarantee to long-lasting peace in the Strip.

UN opens permanent Israeli war crimes probe following Gaza war, calls for embargo

Following Operation Guardian of the Walls against Gaza terrorist groups, for the first time ever the UNHRC has created a permanent fact-finding mission regarding a UN member state. The United Nations Human Rights Council voted 24-9 Thursday to launch an investigation against Israel for alleged war crimes, including during the recent war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and called for an arms embargo against the Jewish state. An additional 14 countries out of the 47-member body abstained. None of the European Union countries supported the measure. It marks the first time that the UNHRC created a permanent fact-finding mission with respect to any UN member state. Israel’s Foreign Ministry immediately stated that it had no intention of cooperating with the probe. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: “Today’s shameful decision is yet another example of the UN Human Rights Council’s blatant anti-Israel obsession. “Once again, an immoral automatic majority at the Council whitewashes a genocidal terrorist organization that deliberately targets Israeli civilians while turning Gaza’s civilians into human shields. The “commission of inquiry” would examine incidents that occurred both before and after April 13, 2021 within sovereign Israel, including Jerusalem, as well as in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Associated demonstrations are possible in the Gaza Strip. Increased security deployments are likely throughout Palestinian villages and Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Clashes are possible if protesters are overly disruptive or fail to adhere to the instructions of security personnel. We must annul all the accords and agreements, because the Jews are the slayers of the prophets, who have betrayed all the pacts and contracts. From the beginning of time, they had no respect for treaties. They violated their pact with the Prophet Muhammad, so why do we expect them to abide by their promises? Arab coalition intercepts Houthi drone targeting Saudi Arabia

The Arab coalition has intercepted a Houthi drone targeting the southern region of Saudi Arabia, state news agency SPA reported on Friday. The coalition said they continue to take precautions to protect civilians as the militia continue to target them, the report added. Saudi Arabia’s civil defense said on Wednesday that several missiles fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militia from inside Yemen landed in the Kingdom. Lt. Col. Mohannad bin Jasser Zailai, deputy media spokesman for the Civil Defense Directorate in Jazan region, said authorities attended the site to find five missiles near a main road of one of the border villages in Jazan. The spokesman said there were no casualties reported. The Houthi militia has stepped up attempts to target civilian and economic objects in Saudi Arabia amid mounting international and Arab condemnation.

Iran: Large fire reported at oil refinery, day after drone factory blast

A large fire was reported at the Kangan Petro Refining Co. (KPRC) in southern Iran along the coast of the Persian Gulf on Monday, just a day after an explosion reportedly impacted a drone factory in the center of the country. According to Iranian media, a fire at the waste warehouse at KPRC was contained and extinguished within an hour and no operational units were damaged. No injuries were reported in the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been reported and is still under investigation. The fire comes just a day after nine people were injured in an explosion at the Sepahan Nargostar chemical and fireworks factory in the city of Shahin Shahr in Iran’s Isfahan Province on Saturday night.

Taliban warns nearby nations against hosting US military after withdrawal

The Afghan Taliban on Wednesday warned nearby nations against allowing the United States to use their territory for operations in the country after they withdraw from Afghanistan. As foreign forces withdraw troops by President Joe Biden’s announced deadline of Sept. 11, experts and diplomats have speculated that Washington’s future role in the region could include bases in nearby countries, especially Pakistan. Two Taliban sources said several members of the group’s political office are currently in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad for talks over the ongoing negotiations, including whether to take part in a conference due to take place in Turkey that they had previously boycotted.

US inflation climbed 3.6 percent in April compared to the same month in 2020 as prices recovered from the mass business disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to government data released Friday. The spike in the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index was the largest reported by the Commerce Department since September 2008, and comes as economists debate whether government stimulus and loose Federal Reserve policy will cause the world’s largest economy to overheat. Spending in April increased 0.5 percent from March with consumers steering their dollars to bars, restaurants and outdoor recreation, the data said, even as income plunged 13.1 percent as the effects of government stimulus checks and unemployment benefits meant to aid the recovery faded. Spending was higher than economists forecast but much less than the 4.7 percent spike seen in March. However, Gregory Daco of Oxford Economics said further gains are coming in the months ahead. Enter Joe Biden’s “American Jobs Plan,” a $2.3 trillion spending scheme that takes some Americans’ most fevered fantasies and wraps them inside an “infrastructure” label in an effort to convince Capitol Hill that the spending is all about roads and bridges. An analysis by the Wharton School places plenty of caution flags on this initiative. To be clear, the spending bill is actually the creation of a national debt so massive that it has the means to destabilize a democracy dependent on a functioning economy.

Porter told CBS that the new version will be “a classic fairytale for a new generation.” The BBC is also plugging a new children’s book called My Daddies, the story of a motherless little girl adopted by two men. This book was newsworthy not because there is any shortage of this sort of thing lately, but because it is “the first book of its kind to be written and illustrated by same-sex adoptive parents,” and “the first picture book about two gay dads with both an LGBT author and illustrator.” PBS, as I noted earlier this month in my LifeSiteNews column, is pitching a drag queen called “Little Miss Hot Mess” — funded by the taxpayer. The intended audience is ages three to eight. Netflix’s latest animated feature film for children, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, also manages to shoehorn in some LGBT content. In one of the final scenes, the mother asks her daughter if she will be bringing her lesbian partner to Thanksgiving. This, of course, is precisely the sort of matter-of-fact representation the movement has long been pushing for. LGBT toys, as one media outlet put it, are also “all the rage”.

Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “Yaas” crossed the north Odisha coast, India about 20 km (12.4 miles) south of Balasore from 05:00 to 06:00 UTC (10:30 to 11:30 IST) on May 26, 2021, with an estimated wind speed of 130 – 140 km/h (80 – 87 mph) gusting to 155 km/h (95 mph). Yass then moved NNW at a speed of about 14 km/h (9 mph) and was about 15 km (9 miles) SSW of Balasore at 06:00 UTC. It weakened into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by 07:00 UTC. According to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, around 20 000 mud houses and temporary shelters in Bengal were already destroyed or damaged. “I have not seen anything like this before,” said Bengal minister Bankim Hazra after sea waters inundated low-lying areas in Digha. In 24 hours to 06:00 UTC, Kusumi in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district recorded 304 mm (11.9 inches) of rain, 288 mm (11.3 inches) was recorded in Chandbali, Odisha, and 275 mm (10.8 inches) in Rajnagar, Odisha. Tidal waves of 2 – 3 m (6.5 – 10 feet) above the astronomical tides were expected to continue to flood the low-lying areas of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur districts over the next few hours.

In the 11 days of the Israeli Defense Forces’ “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” Israeli forces destroyed some 62 miles of Hamas’s tunnel network in the Gaza Strip, according to IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Hidai Zilberman. Speaking hours after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire took effect on Friday, Zilberman reported that some 200 Hamas operatives, including 25 high-ranking members, had been targeted and killed in IDF strikes during the fighting in Gaza. Israeli forces also demolished some 340 rocket launchers and 70 multi-barrel rocket launchers, as well as 35 mortars, according to the IDF. Ten Hamas government offices were destroyed, as well as 11 buildings belonging to its internal security forces and five banks used by Hamas. Israel also targeted and destroyed “dozens” of training camps and outposts, a command and control center and nine high-rise buildings that housed Hamas infrastructure, Zilberman added. The IDF also destroyed several dozen anti-tank targets and two unspecified “maritime threats.” Zilberman also said that two drone attacks by Hamas had been thwarted, and said that Hamas’s manufacturing and development capabilities had been degraded.

The United Arab Emirates stands ready to facilitate peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians, the de facto ruler of the Gulf state said in remarks carried on state media on Sunday. Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan made the comments in a telephone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, whose country, with US support, brokered a ceasefire on Friday that ended the fiercest fighting in years between Israel and Islamist militant group Hamas. The UAE, which last year normalized ties with Israel, “is ready to work with all parties to maintain the ceasefire and explore new paths to reduce escalation and achieve peace,” state news agency WAM cited Sheikh Mohammed as saying. Jordan’s King Abdullah stressed on Sunday the importance of translating the Gaza ceasefire into an extended truce, and said there is no alternative to a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians. King Abdullah called for “stepping up Arab and international efforts to translate the ceasefire into an extended truce to push for a political solution that fulfills the legitimate rights of Palestinians,” the royal court wrote on Twitter. Egypt and Qatar, which has ties with Hamas, led regional efforts for the ceasefire that ended 11 days of fighting in which aerial bombardment of Gaza killed 232 Palestinians and rocket attacks killed 12 people in Israel.

Bassem Eid: An Open Letter to My Palestinian Brethren

I know that the past 10 days have been incredibly devastating and equally bewildering. Why is the world letting the Israelis do this to you? I am writing to you, my Palestinian brothers and sisters, to open your eyes from the disinformation that your real captor, Hamas, is feeding you. To my Palestinian brethren, I implore you: please do not let Hamas brainwash you into thinking it has “achieved” anything on our behalf. Do not fall prey to its lies and manipulations. Hamas is not a social justice movement and it certainly does not care about me or you. Hamas deliberately used you as human shields, stationing rocket launchers and missile arsenals in your homes, apartments, office buildings and even hospitals—just as it did in 2014. And now Hamas has been carelessly shelling the most highly populated regions of Israel, with no specific target or strategy. Yet, I know from my sources in Gaza that as many as 25 percent of all rockets launched by Hamas crash within Gaza. That has resulted in Hamas killing as many as many as 50 of the civilians that it falsely blames on Israel. And are you proud of the fact that some of the Hamas missiles that Israeli Defense Forces failed to intercept ended up exploding in places like Jaffa, Abu Ghosh and Lod where Arab Israelis now live? Ask yourself, how exactly do our people benefit from any of this? And when hostilities end, you can be sure that it won’t be the people of Gaza or representatives of your true interests, but the Hamas gang that will be cutting the lucrative financial compensation deals with Qatar and European NGOs “to rebuild Gaza.” Remember who got rich last time after the 2014 war with Israel? Hamas will do the same exact thing: It will spend its next installments of Qatari money to replenish its arsenal rather than rebuild homes, purchase coronavirus vaccines or provide social services for the people. And Hamas is sure to continue to plot terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians. So Israel will have an even greater justification for restricting access to Al Aqsa and maintaining the defensive blockade around Gaza: It is you who will suffer, not Hamas with its rebuilt fancy villas. And the peace you so much deserve, which could have been possible when Israel withdrew entirely from the Gaza Strip in 2005 only to see Hamas set up an authoritarian military junta, will be even further out of reach.

Mysterious Drone Strikes Destroyed Several Hangars In Syria’s Deir Ezzor

On May 23 morning, unidentified combat drones carried out a series of strikes on the outskirts of the town of al-Bukamal in southern Deir Ezzor. The government-held town is located right on the border with Iraq. According to the Naher Media, a local pro-opposition news blog, the strikes destroyed a number of newly-built hangars in al-Hamdan desert. The strikes didn’t result in any human losses. Liwa Fatemiyoun and Liwa Zainebiyoun, Afghan and Pakistani armed groups supported by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, are known to be active in al-Hamdan. Iranina-backed Iraqi forces are also present in nearby areas. The strikes claims are yet to be confirmed by the Syrian Ministry of Defense of the state-run news agency. Usually, Damascus acknowledges any strikes inside its territory. A day earlier, an unidentified combat drone targeted a pickup vehicle to the east of al-Bukamal, inside Iraqi territory. Israel and the US were both blamed by Iraqi sources. No casualties were reported.

Single rocket hits near Iraqi air base hosting US troops

A single rocket struck close to a military base hosting US troops in western Iraq on Monday without causing any injuries, a spokesman for the US-led coalition said. The rocket struck near Ain Al-Asad air base, a sprawling complex in Anbar province, at 1:35 p.m., Col. Wayne Marotto said on Twitter. He said damages were being assessed and an investigation was launched. An Iraqi security official said the rocket struck close to a village outside the base. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations. Rocket and missile attacks against US installations have been frequent since a Washington-directed strike against top Iranian general Qassim Soleimani outside Baghdad airport last year. That operation also killed powerful Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis. The attacks have continued since US President Joe Biden assumed office this year.

Blast at Iran explosives plant injures 9

Nine people were injured in an explosion at the Sepahan Nargostar chemical and fireworks factory in the city of Shahin Shahr in Iran’s Isfahan Province on Saturday night, Iranian media reported Sunday. The cause of the blast was said to be under investigation. The explosion took place at about 3:36 a.m. local time (2:06 a.m. Israel time), IRNA reported. The Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA), which produces a variety of aircraft for Iranian and pro-Iranian forces, is located in Shahin Shahr, sparking speculation on social media that the explosion was related to it. The blast actually took place at HESA and not at the explosives factory, The Guardian reported later on Sunday. The explosion was linked to the shooting down of a drone by Israel near the Jordanian border last year, the report said. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it was an Iranian drone sent from either Iraq or Syria. The IDF collected fragments of the destroyed aircraft for further examination. The news of the explosion comes just days after Iranian officials reported major progress in negotiations on renewing the Iran nuclear deal. Last year, a series of explosions and fires hit industrial sites across Iran, including a number of petrochemical plants.

Afghan Forces, Taliban Clash Near Capital

Afghan forces clashed with Taliban fighters in a provincial capital about 120 kilometres (75 miles) from Kabul, officials and witnesses said, prompting the defence minister to take charge of a counteroffensive. Violence has soared in Afghanistan since US forces began their final pull-out on May 1, as the insurgents press on with a campaign to seize new territory. Fierce fighting erupted late Sunday on the edge of Mihtarlam, a city of around 140,000 people and the capital of Laghman province. The ministry said at least 50 Taliban fighters were killed in overnight fighting. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP the insurgents captured 37 security checkpoints on the outskirts of the city. In recent days the insurgents have seized the districts of Nerkh and Jalraiz in the province of Wardak, just 40 km from Kabul. The Taliban also captured Burka in northern Baghlan province earlier this month after government troops withdrew from the area. The Taliban campaign has spurred speculation the militants are waiting for the Americans to complete their withdrawal before launching all-out assaults on Afghan cities.

Rare protests in Oman over jobs draw massive police response

Scattered protests in Oman over layoffs and poor economic conditions have drawn a massive police presence in at least one city in the sultanate, with protesters throwing stones at one point and police firing tear gas. Videos posted to social media showed several dozen Omanis in the city of Sohar trailed by a long line of riot police vehicles on Monday. Other images appear to showed a line of police in riot gear near a government labour office in the city, 200km (125 miles) northwest of the capital, Muscat. Similar scattered protests on Sunday brought another mass police presence, activists said online. That demonstration was acknowledged by Oman’s labour ministry in a tweet, which said it was aware of people gathering there to try to “find new job vacancies and to solve the problems of those who were fired”. The demonstrations mark the first major unrest for Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who took over in January 2020 after the death of the long-ruling Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

That should be a red flag for policymakers as monetary decisions are focused on actual outcomes, not forecasted. But reported inflation statistics do not show the 1970s inflation-style inflation because they no longer include actual house prices. The old consumer price index included house prices in measuring the owner’s housing cost, whereas the present-day price index base owners’ housing cost on an arbitrary, non-market rent measure. The only way to make a price series strictly comparable over time is to use the same measurement process. In April, the median price for existing homes increased 20.3% in the past twelve months, a new record and far above the 1970s high-reading of 17.4%. More importantly, the increase in existing house prices is ten times greater than the 2% increase in non-market rents in the consumer price index.

‘Black fungus’ declared an epidemic in Jammu & Kashmir as India battles deadly infection

Jammu and Kashmir has become the latest union territory in India to declare black fungus an epidemic, as cases of the coronavirus-linked infection continue to rise. The territory declared mucormycosis – more commonly known as “black fungus” – to be an epidemic on Monday under the Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897. The move makes it mandatory for health officials to report suspected cases to the national health department. Jammu and Kashmir follow in the footsteps of several other states and territories – including Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Telangana, and Rajasthan – which also declared an epidemic after the Indian government called on local governments to do so on Thursday. Black fungus spreads through the bloodstream and respiratory system via cuts and inhalation and can cause facial swelling and black lesions, with a fatality rate of around 54%. The Union Health Ministry has warned that the infection is leading to “prolonged morbidity and mortality” among those with Covid-19, and health experts believe that the rise in cases is attributable to the steroids used for recovering Covid-19 patients, as well as a lack of sanitation. Nearly 9,000 cases of black fungus have been recorded in India, according to Federal Minister Sadananda Gowda, while reports say more than 250 people have died.

The rest of European Russia also saw dozens of heat records, with temperatures averaging 7 to 14 °C (12.6 to 25.5 °F) higher than the usual. On May 20, an unprecedented maximum temperature of 31.9 °C (89.4 °F) was reported from the station Naryan-Mar, north of the Arctic Circle in Russia. It broke the previous May record of 27.8 °C (82 °F), with the all-time highest temperature being 33.9 °C (93 °F) set in July 1990. Extreme heat has now spread across the Middle East, the Caucasus, and the Arabian Peninsula, with numerous weather stations having maximum temperatures between 46 and 49 °C (114.8 and 120 °F), peaking nearly 50 °C (122 °F) over the past few days across Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Oman, UAE, and Kuwait.

If you don’t know much about bible prophecy you do need to read what Jesus warned us concerning the last days. He  said, “When you see all these things, you can know my return is near. I’m right at the door” (Matthew 24:33). He also said, “When all these things begin to happen, look up for your salvation is near!” (Luke 21:28). This means the #1 indication Jesus will return soon is all the signs appearing together. Both Jesus and the prophets told us what signs to look for, and the appearance of just one is reason enough to take notice but that is not the case because all the birth pain signs Jesus warned about are now taking place all at the same time.  What Jesus told us to look for as a sign to understand He’s coming soon is being played out in the news almost daily now!  Whether you believe it or not these signs are a  confirmation our generation will witness the Second Coming – not according Frank DiMora, but according to Jesus found in His word.

Intense Heat

When you read Matthew 24:7 we see famines. What causes famines?  Many things but two of the major elements to famines are lack of water and heat that scorchs the earth. Right now much of California is burning up like it did last year.
