Bible prophecy documentary book download proving our generation will see the return of the Lord. Do you want to know what is going to happen in the future before it actually takes place? The Word of God provides you with specific details about our future and all of these things are coming to pass in this generation. If you aren’t saved yet this is a must read!
I had a message via my Skype by Peter Higbie who wanted to know if I knew anything about the Rapture Puzzle? Since being in the ministry since 1977 I have listened to many people who claim to know the exact date Jesus Christ is going to return again. In my prophecy book I cite many of these people who have set dates for the Lord’s return. I have also warned to watch for more people to do the same thing. When you read my book you will discover every person who has set a date has seen the date come and go without seeing Jesus return. Now once again we have yet another person who has written a book giving the exact date of the Lord. I have found many things the author has written that do not line up with the word. I am not going to cover every detail that doesn’t line up as I simply do not have the time. I will say this at the start. Before I became a Christian I studied with the Jehovah’s Witnesses only to learn that this organization was full of false prophets who set dates for the Lord’s return. When the dates came and went without the Lord coming back the JW’s changed the dates and tried to cover up their false prophecies. This is the case with the Rapture Puzzle as well. In her original ‘book’ it was titled Day of Atonement 2015; she has already CHANGED it to 2016– so much for her math. Why the need to change the date from 2015 to 2016? The Bible is very clear that God does not change. Numbers 23:19 “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill” The red flag needs to be raised very quickly when you read something someone wrote and is teaching from a document which was not placed in the Cannon. This is the second thing I found right away as the author quotes from the writings of ‘Barnabas’- a book not recognized by Jewish or Protestant cannons. Our Lord warned us that this would take place in the last days. Read 2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”
The author say’s SHE believes God has a 7000 year plan right? Although the last 1,000 is the millennial reign- 6000 years for everything to be fulfilled. What school did she go to? I understand what she’s saying and how she’s adding but there are no respected Biblical scholars who agree. The Jews themselves show only 5775 this year. For her to be accurate, Jesus can’t come back for 225 years! Has she not figured in the date changes from Jewish to Gregorian calendars? Also another thing to consider is that the word tells us the Antichrist will “change the times and seasons” so no matter what she says how accurate can ANYONE but God be?
Here is the Acts of Barnabas- (NOT called the Espistle of Barnabas) from the Gnostic Libraryhttp://gnosis.org/library/actbarn.htm;—- I made it through. I had trouble from the 2nd paragraph which states JOHN wrote it! All you need to do is read this and you will see WHY it isn’t in the cannon. Here is the first 4 paragraphs:
Since from the descent of the presence of our Saviour Jesus Christ, the unwearied and benevolent and mighty Shepherd and Teacher and Physician, I beheld and saw the ineffable and holy and unspotted mystery of the Christians, who hold the hope in holiness, and who have been sealed; and since I have zealously served Him, I have deemed it necessary to give account of the mysteries which I have heard and seen. I John, accompanying the holy apostles Barnabas and Paul, being formerly a servant of Cyrillus the high priest of Jupiter, but now having received the gift of the Holy Spirit through Paul and Barnabas and Silas, who were worthy of the calling, and who baptized me in Iconium. After I was baptized, then, I saw a certain man standing clothed in white raiment; and he said to me: Be of good courage, John, for assuredly your name shall be changed to Mark, and your glory shall be proclaimed in all the world. And the darkness in you has passed away from you, and there has been given to you understanding to know the mysteries of God.
And when I saw the vision, becoming greatly terrified, I went to the feet of Barnabas, and related to him the mysteries which I had seen and heard from that man. And the Apostle Paul was not by when I disclosed the mysteries. And Barnabas said to me: Tell no one the miracle which you have seen. For by me also this night the Lord stood, saying, Be of good courage: for as you have given your life for my name to death and banishment from your nation, thus also shall you be made perfect. Moreover, as for the servant who is with you, take him also with yourself; for he has certain mysteries. Now then, my child, keep to yourself the things which you have seen and heard; for a time will come for you to reveal them.
And I, having been instructed in these things by him, remained in Iconium many days; for there was there a holy man and a pious, who also entertained us, whose house also Paul had sanctified. Thence, therefore, we came to Seleucia, and after staying three days sailed away to Cyprus; and I was ministering to them until we had gone round all Cyprus. And setting sail from Cyprus, we landed in Perga of Pamphylia. And there I then stayed about two months, wishing to sail to the regions of the West; and the Holy Spirit did not allow me. Turning, therefore, I again sought the apostles; and having learned that they were in Antioch, I went to them.
And I found Paul in bed in Antioch from the toil of the journey, who also seeing me, was exceedingly grieved on account of my delaying in Pamphylia. And Barnabas coming, encouraged him, and tasted bread, and he took a little of it. And they preached the word of the Lord, and enlightened many of the Jews and Greeks. And I only attended to them, and was afraid of Paul to come near him, both because he held me as having spent much time in Pamphylia, and because he was quite enraged against me. And I gave repentance on my knees upon the earth to Paul, and he would not endure it. And when I remained for three Sabbaths in entreaty and prayer on my knees, I was unable to prevail upon him about myself; for his great grievance against me was on account of my keeping several parchments in Pamphylia.
*** if this is Barnabas’ cousin JOHN MARK it still makes no sense because what was he doing in Heaven?
Also: When Jesus said “no man knows the day or the hour” he meant that exactly the way it sounded. She states he is referring to an Old Testament verse (which we KNOW is still relevant) in Zechariah 14:7 (the same verse I pointed out to you tells us we have to go to Jerusalem every year for the Feast of Tabernacles). However she has taken this verse OUT of context. The Zechariah verse she quotes has to do with the conditions AFTER Jesus returns and touches down on the Mount of Olives. This is NOT the rapture! Let’s PRETEND for a moment that there is no pre-trib rapture (which she seems to be saying). It does NOT change the fact that even if there is NO pre trib rapture…the ‘rapture’ MUST come before God’s Bowl Judgements. We are not appointed unto wrath (1 Thess. 5:9). The Bible clearly states that the Bowl Judgments ARE God’s Wrath- we cannot be here for that. Jesus doesn’t return until Rev. 16 which is AFTER.
Here is another huge problem with what she says in her book. The prophet Daniel in chapter 9 of the book of Daniel we are told the Antichrist is going to go into the God’s Holy place and stop theof the sacrifice. This is what Daniel 9:26-27 says. “26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and thesanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” In her book The Rapture Puzzle she tries to make people think that what Daniel was referring to in this passage was the Nativity in Bethlehem. It is not the Nativity! 2 Thessalonians 2:4 makes it very clear that what Daniel was referring to is aTemple not the nativity in Bethlehem. I quote 2 Thess. 2:4. “He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.” The word of God is clear a third Temple is going to be rebuilt and this is the Temple that the Jews are going to start doing their sacrifices again. Let us not forget that the Bible tells us that when the Antichrist goes into the rebuilt Temple it will be at that time when He starts to force the world to take his mark in the right hand or forehead. If we were in the 4 year of the tribulation already as in the Rapture Puzzle why haven’t we seen the world being forced to take that mark? Answer. That time has not come yet. Look at what Jesus said in Mark chapter 13: 14.”But when ye shall see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, STANDING WHERE IT OUGHT NOT (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:” According to the Rapture Puzzie the desolation Daniel talks about already took place on March 22nd 2013. I can assure everyone that if they were to travel to Israel today you will not find the Israeli’s running to the mountains. Israel is still very strong and very able to defend itself. What the Rapture Puzzle wants you to believe is just plan wrong.
If we are already well into the tribulation as The Rapture Puzzle author says then why haven’t we seen the new Temple rebuilt already and, the Jews killing the lambs in their new Jewish sacrifices? The answer is simple. We haven’t even begun the 7 year tribulation yet!
As I said, I don’t have the time to cover all the things up-setting with this new date of the Lord’s return. I am sure for those who study the Bible and happen to read The Rapture Puzzle they will find many holes in this new teaching. One last thing. God has given us all that we need to know without giving us or a single person a new revelation. If you do read this new work and find other holes in the teaching and want to share them email what you found and I will post them at my site.

Drought Transcends State Lines as U.S. West Turns Ever-More Arid – Bloomberg Politics
The record drought plaguing California isn’t limited by lines on a map. Arid conditions caused by dwindling rainfall and snowpack are stretching across the West. In Washington’s Yakima Valley, popular for growing wine grapes and beer hops, officials are cutting off water to about 1,700 farmers for three weeks starting today. At Lake Mead, east of Las Vegas, a 130-foot white band lines canyon walls as water sinks to the lowest since the reservoir was filled in 1937. “California has gotten the attention, and rightly so,” said Roger Pulwarty, director of the National Integrated Drought Information System at the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. “Across most of the West, dry conditions are expected to persist.”
We know from Luke 21:25 that disruptive weather patterns are going to get worse the closer we get to the Lord’s return. One such way to see these disruptive weather patterns is to find yourself in the midst of an El Nino weather pattern. It appears that one is coming. There is a video about the coming El Nino found in the news today. Click the link below.

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline: Hezbollah captures Syrian village from Islamic militants
Hezbollah’s leader said on Tuesday his Lebanon-based militant group will launch an attack inside Syria against al Qaeda-linked insurgents in the mountain region along the countries’ border. Local media and Syrian opposition have speculated that such an assault could start within days in the Qalamoun area, and Hezbollah fighters clashed with gunmen from the same Syria-based insurgent group, Nusra Front, in a different border zone on Tuesday. The attack “will announce itself when it happens,” Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in a televised speech. It would be in Qalamoun, but “as for its goal, place or where it will extend to.. This …we do not declare now.”

Headline: Over 120 die in Yemen as Houthis take key Aden district
Yemen’s Houthi militia battled its way into Aden’s Tawahi district on Wednesday despite Saudi-led air strikes, strengthening its hold on the city whose fate is seen as crucial to determining the country’s civil war. The fighting across Yemen killed 120 people on Wednesday, mostly civilians, including at least 40 who were trying to flee the southern port city of Aden by a boat that was struck by Houthi shells, rescue workers and witnesses said. Hadi’s Foreign Minister Reyad Yassin Abdulla appealed for the international community to intervene to stop the Houthi assault on Aden in a televised news conference from Riyadh. Insisting that the city had not fallen, he described the militia as “the killers of men and children” and said Aden’s residents had appealed to Saudi Arabia for help “in the name of the brotherhood of blood and religion”. Locals said the Houthis had penetrated the historic district of al-Tawahi, where the presidential palace, main port and Aden television station are located. Fighting still raged, they said. Meanwhile, in Yemen’s far north, coalition airstrikes killed 43 civilians, Houthi sources said, following the death of five Saudi civilians on Tuesday in mortar and rocket fire, the first such deaths in the kingdom since the campaign began on March 26. More than 30 airstrikes hit Saada province and there was heavy artillery fire from across the border, local sources said. The figure could not be independently verified.

Syria Headline: ISIS attack on Kurdish forces in Syria kills 16: activists
At least 16 members of the Syrian Kurdish security forces were killed Wednesday in an ISIS attack on a base in the northeastern province of Hassakeh, activists said. “There was a large explosion at dawn today in Hassakeh city caused by an ISIS car bomb attack on a base belonging to the Kurdish internal security forces,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. The Britain-based group said ISIS militants opened fire on Kurdish forces after the blast, prompting fierce clashes. All the attackers were killed, the Observatory said, without specifying the number of ISIS fighters involved in the assault in the provincial capital, where Kurdish and regime forces share control.

Syria Headline: Rebels make gains against ISIS, launch attack north of Homs
Syrian rebel and jihadi militias launched a new offensive in central Homs province Tuesday and seized a town from ISIS near the border with Israel, observers and anti-regime activists said. Seven groups, including the powerful Ahrar al-Sham militia and the Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria, said they would target regime-held areas in the north of the city of Homs. The move comes after recent gains by rebels in Idlib province to the north have seen them approach staunchly pro-regime areas of western Hama province. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said 10 rebels and eight regime troops were killed in the clashes, which saw the rebels move closer to the villages of Jabbourine and Umm Sharshouh. Airstrikes pounded the area as the clashes took place and killed four civilians in the town of Talbiseh, the center of the rebel-held pocket in the middle of the country.

Iraq Headline: Iraqi forces repel IS attack in Salahudin province
The Iraqi security forces on Wednesday repelled an attack by the Islamic State (IS) militants on an oil field in Salahudin province, while battles continued with the extremist militants in Iraq’s largest refinery of Baiji, a provincial security source said. The IS militants attacked the oil field of Allas in east of the provincial capital city of Tikrit, some 170 km north of Baghdad, sparking fierce clashes with the Iraqi security forces and allied militias, known as Hashd Shaabi, or Popular Mobilization, who fought back the attackers, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. After hours of heavy clashes the IS militants failed to seize the oil field but managed to impose a siege on the headquarters of a military brigade in the area, while reinforcement troops from the security forces and allied militias were dispatched to the scene, the source said. So far, the clashes resulted in the wounding of five militiamen, including an officer, and the destruction of two Humvees, the source said, citing initial reports.

Headline: Purported ISIS warning claims terror cells in place in 15 states
A grim online warning from a self-described American jihadist said Sunday’s terror attack in Texas was the work of ISIS and that the terrorist group has scores of “trained soldiers” positioned in 15 states, awaiting orders to carry out more operations. The warning, which was posted on a file-sharing site, could not be verified, but was signed by Abu Ibrahim Al Ameriki. That name matches the moniker of a shadowy American known to have joined a terrorist group in Pakistan several years ago and who has appeared in propaganda videos before. The chilling threat named five of the states where it is claimed that ISIS has terror cells in place. “Out of the 71 trained soldiers 23 have signed up for missions like Sunday, we are increasing in number,” read the warning. “Of the 15 states, 5 we will name… Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, California, and Michigan.” Sources told Fox News the U.S. intelligence community was assessing the threat and trying to determine if the source is directly related to ISIS leadership or an opportunist such as a low-level militant seeking to further capitalize on the Garland incident.

Headline: Iran Claims it Chased US Warship in Gulf of Aden
The Iranian navy is claiming to have chased off a US warship and several American aircraft, in the latest aggressive move by the Islamic Republic’s military. According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, 2 US reconnaissance planes and US Navy destroyer DDG81 “rapidly changed direction” on Monday, after being confronted by an Iranian fleet in the Gulf of Aden, south of Yemen. The Iranian Destroyer “Alborz”, part of Iran’s 34th fleet, sent a warning to the US vessels telling them to turn around after the Americans strayed into the “5-mile standard distance” from the Iranian fleet, Fars claimed. “Checking foreign warships in the international waters and surveilling potential threats to Iran’s national interests is our essential responsibility,” the commander of the 34th flotilla of warships, Commodore Mostafa Tajeddini, said on Tuesday. The Iranian 34th fleet is conducting an “anti-piracy” patrol off the coast of Yemen, according to Tehran. But the US and others claim Iran is using its military assets in the region to back Shia Houthi rebels in Yemen, and the US Navy has been deployed off the coast of the war-torn country to prevent the transfer of weapons from Iran to the Houthis.

The Sudanese army claimed it shot down an Israeli drone, after Arab media reported on Wednesday that Israeli war planes struck sites around the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, destroying weapons sites apparently destined for Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The London-based Arabic-language Al-Araby Al-Jadeed and other Arab news sources reported the strikes, saying they hit a factory producing long-range Scud missiles, a rocket storage site, as well as a convoy that was leaving the military site in Omdurman to the north of Khartoum. Witnesses reported hearing explosions and secondary explosions, apparently from the weapons detonating in the strike. There are no clear indications regarding the scope of the damage and whether there are any dead. The report claimed that foreign jets were behind the incident and indicated Israel had conducted the strike, although no official sources in Sudan or outside of it gave confirmation to the appraisal in the report. However, a spokesperson for the Sudanese army denied that military sites were hit in airstrikes, with military sources saying a flying object resembling a plane or rocket was shot at by an anti-aircraft unit in the area, according to the Lebanese paper Charles Ayoub. Later on Wednesday the Sudanese army claimed it had shot down an Israeli drone. The Lebanese Al Meyadeen, considered to be close to the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist organization, reported that the Sudanese army had announced shooting down an Israeli drone in the region of Wadi Seidna, to the north of Khartoum. Wadi Seidna houses an army airbase. Sudan has been a key route for smuggling weapons originating in Iran and destined for Hamas in Gaza. Israel has not yet responded to the report.

Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)
Headline: 21 killed in clashes between Congolese army and rebels
At least 21 people have been killed in clashes between the army and a rebel group in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, a military official says. Army spokesman Victor Masandi said Monday that the clashes broke out overnight Sunday when the rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces-National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (ADF-NALU) attacked an army post in the village of Kokola, around 40 kilometers north of the city of Beni. He added that 16 rebels, four soldiers and a civilian were killed in the fighting. The rebel group killed some 20 people in North Kivu Province in a mid-April assault. More than 300 people were killed by ADF-NALU militants last year in and around Beni.

Headline: Malian army troops clash with rebels in Tenenkou
Mali’s soldiers have clashed with members of the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) in the central town of Tenenkou. Military sources and a local official told AFP that the fighting occurred at about 5:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT) Tuesday between the army troops and the rebels of the CMA, the French acronym for the Coordination of Azawad Movements. “Currently we are under fire from CMA rebel groups and the army,” said a local councilor. The CMA, comprising ethnic Arabs and Tuaregs, claims to be in control of the central market town, but both the councilor and the army have denied it. A military source said, “The rebels have no control whatsoever over Tenenkou. It’s just bluster.” The recent fighting between the rebel groups and government forces erupted in the northern region in late April.

At least two United Nations (UN) peacekeepers were killed and 13 others injured when their unit was ambushed by suspected rebels in eastern parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Tanzanian unit was attacked early on Tuesday with four peacekeepers going missing, said the spokesman for the UN secretary general in a statement released later in the day. Local administrator Amisi Kalonda stated that Ugandan rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces and National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (ADF-NALU) were responsible for the attack, which took place around Oicha area some 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of the city of Beni in North Kivu province, bordering the countries of Uganda and Rwanda. Martin Kobler, the head of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo(or MONUSCO, which is initials of its French name “Mission de l’Organisation des Nations unies pour la stabilisation en République démocratique du Congo”) posted a message on his Twitter account saying, “I cannot tolerate the repeated attacks on the Blue Helmets in the region of Beni, “pledging that the UN force would conduct “robust offensive operations.” The deadly attack came a day after a helicopter carrying the mission’s force commander in the region came under fire from unknown armed men.

Violent clashes between demonstrators and police in the Macedonian capital city of Skopje have left dozens injured. Authorities said on Wednesday that overnight fighting left 38 police officers and one protester wounded, while 30 people were arrested. Macedonia’s Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska said six of the officers sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized. She described the clashes as “a brutal attack on the police,” saying the protesters threw eggs, stones as well as bottles and used metal bars. Late Tuesday, over 1,000 people gathered in front of the government building in Skopje to voice their anger at the alleged government cover-up in the case of the death of 22-year-old Martin Neskoski. Neskoski died after he was beaten by police during the country’s post-election celebrations in 2011. A police officer was later convicted of his murder and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Tuesday’s clashes erupted hours after Zoran Zaev, Macedonia’s opposition leader, accused Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski of attempting to cover up Neskoski’s death.

Headline: Greece introduces cashpoint tax in desperate bid to raise revenue and stop run on banks as country teeters on brink of bankruptcy
Headline: Greece blames EU and IMF for ‘obstacles’ in talks
Greece has revealed it is to introduce a surcharge for all cashpoint withdrawals and financial transactions in a desperate attempt to prevent citizens withdrawing their money from the country’s beleaguered banks. Ministers hope the controversial move could raise as much as €180 million, which the Athens government hopes will help the country avoid defaulting on debts owed to international creditors. As the Greek economy teeters on the verge of bankruptcy, millions of panicking citizens have completely cleared their accounts – pulling more than €28 billion out of banks and pushing the total cash revenue held in the country’s financial institutions to a 10-year low. The controversial introduction of mandatory cashpoint charges still requires approval by the European Central Bank but is expected to amount to €1 for every €1,000 transaction. While the measure is unlikely to impact on day-to-day withdrawals, Greece hopes it will deter citizens clearing out their bank accounts.

Headline: Liquidity drought could spark market bloodbath, warns IIF
Headline: Global bond selloff deepens
Investors face a “painful” adjustment in a world of evaporating liquidity and higher US interest rates that will trigger huge market swings with potentially catastrophic consequences, the Institute of International Finance has warned. Timothy Adams, the chief executive of the IIF, which represents the world’s biggest banks, described liquidity as the “top issue” at high level meetings of central bankers, chief executives and other financial institutions. He warned that the raft of regulation introduced in the wake of the 2008 crisis could potentially cause market gyrations larger than last October’s “flash crash” in US Treasuries. “Once you bring the rapid change in major benchmark prices and a change in the architecture of the global financial system together, you could end up with outcomes that are pretty painful, and certainly unknowable.” Mr Adams warned that the US Federal Reserve’s first interest rate rise in almost a decade would also cause disruption, and that the “the most transparent and telegraphed move in monetary history” was unlikely to prevent some dollar denominated debts from “blowing up” in emerging markets.

Headline: Brazil faces surge in number of dengue fever cases
Brazil has registered nearly 746,000 cases of the mosquito-borne disease dengue fever this year with nine states experiencing an epidemic, the health ministry has announced. At 368 cases per 100,000 residents it amounts to an epidemic by World Health Organisation standards, but officials say the outbreak is not nationwide. Relaxed prevention and an increase in home water storage have been blamed. More than half of the cases were in Sao Paulo. The number of cases there – the most populous state – has tripled since last year. Nationwide there have been 235% more cases than in the same period (from January to 18 April) last year.

Headline: X-FLARE
A minor geomagnetic storm is in progress on May 6th following the arrival of a CME at 01:43 UT. The CME’s weak impact did not immediately spark bright auroras. However, storming could intensify as Earth passes through the CME’s wake. Meanwhile, the sun is no longer quiet. Emerging sunspot AR2339 unleashed an intense X2-class solar flare on May 5th at 22:11 UT. A pulse of UV radiation and X-rays from the flare caused a strong radio blackout over the Pacific side of Earth. This map shows the extent of the blackout, which affected frequencies below 20 MHz. Mariners, aviators, and ham radio operators are the type of people who might have noticed the disturbance. The explosion also hurled a CME into space: movie. Traveling faster than 1100 km/s (2.5 million mph), the expanding cloud does not appear to be heading for Earth. In addition to causing a radio blackout, the flare also caused a radio burst. Immediately after the flare, a roar of static bellowed from the loudspeakers of shortwave receivers on Pacific isles and western parts of North America.

The German town of Buetzow has been left extensively damaged by what residents described as a tornado that tore off roofs, overturned cars and ripped up trees, with more destruction reported in other parts of Germany. Roof tiles and debris were strewn across the streets and buildings left severely damaged when the storm struck on Tuesday. Dozens of cars were destroyed and people injured as trees were upturned and buildings damaged by the winds. One person in the city of Hamburg was killed by falling debris. The extent of the damage was still to be seen as emergency services tried to assess the situation. More storms are expected in Germany over the next days. Eyewitnesses spoke of a track of devastation across the area caused by a tornado but the German weather service Wetter Online said the winds did not meet the exact definition of a twister. One Buetzow resident, who described the storm as “insane”, said: “I saw that the clouds were very strange … and it was like a punch in the face, the wind and water and rain. “I have never seen anything like this in my life, it is complete madness. Hundreds of trees have been overturned, completely uprooted, roofs ripped off. You don’t experience something like this every day.”

Headline: “Supporters of the Islamic State in Jerusalem” Threatens Hamas
Residents of Gaza report that an explosion occurred on Monday at the Hamas general security headquarters. According to the reports, which were cited by Yedioth Aharonoth, the blast was the work of Salafists who are demanding the release of several Salafist prisoners being held by Hamas. The Salafist group Salafist Trend on Saturday accused Hamas of torturing the jailed Salafists, and of monitoring and cracking down on other members of the group, threatening Hamas that they must release the prisoners or face consequences. “Once again we ask the wise people of Gaza to stop the ongoing Hamas criminality and abusive detention of our brothers before it’s too late,” read the Salafist statement. According to the report Monday, a group of activists published an announcement before the blast, stating “we give Hamas 72 hours to release all the prisoners.” It remains unclear if the group of activists referred to in the report is the same Salafist Trend group. Last month Hamas arrested Salafists who it claimed contacted Islamic State (ISIS), which has been growing a presence in Gaza, Judea and Samaria.

Headline: Mortar Strike in Golan Heights Injures UN Soldiers
Two UN peacekeepers were wounded on Monday when mortar shells fired from Syria hit their base in the Israeli-held sector of the Golan Heights, an army spokesman said. “Mortar shells hit the Golan in Ein Zivan and in the Zivanit UNDOF base. Two UN peacekeeping soldiers were evacuated to Israel for medical care,” Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner wrote on his official Twitter account. Israel public radio said they were lightly wounded in the incident. The mortar strike took place near Quneitra in Syria, where heavy fighting has been taking place between rival rebel forces. Shortly after the incident, the IDF stated the mortar was in fact the result of “spillover” from the Syrian conflict, and not deliberately fired at Israel. Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP that fighting has been taking place since last week between rebel groups in an area close to Syria’s ceasefire line with Israel. “There is still infighting going on among rebel groups in Qahtaniya near the ceasefire line with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. They’re exchanging shellfire,” he said.

Headline: Hamas ‘Nakba’ Rally at Terror Base on Israeli Border
The “refugee” department of the Hamas terrorist movement will on Tuesday at 5 p.m. hold a massive rally marking 67 years to the “Nakba” – the “catastrophe” of the establishment of modern Israel, and the inability of the Arab countries to destroy the fledgling renascent Jewish state. The massive rally is to be held at the “Palestine” terrorist training site located in Beit Lahiya adjacent to the border between Gaza and Israel in the northern part of Gaza. Abdallah Hasuna, director of the “refugee” department which is tasked with handling descendants of the Arab residents of Israel who left during the 1948 War of Independence, noted this would be the first time a massive event was held at a base associated with Hamas’s “military wing,” the Al-Qassam Brigades. Hasuna said by holding the mass rally at the terrorist base there was a message emphasizing the path of the “struggle of the Palestinian people.”

Headline: Tensions brew in Jordan over Muslim Brotherhood rift
Jordan’s authorization of a breakaway wing of the Muslim Brotherhood has sent tensions soaring between the decades-old organisation and the government, accused of exploiting the rift to weaken the kingdom’s main opposition force. In early March, the government gave its consent to the formation of the splinter Brotherhood group, led by a former head of the movement. The offshoot aims to severe ties with the Brotherhood’s arm in Egypt, where hundreds of supporters have been killed and thousands detained since Islamist president Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the army in 2013. Analysts say Jordan’s recognition of the new group — known as the Muslim Brotherhood Association — risks fanning discontent among the traditional opposition power base at a time when the kingdom is battling jihadists in neighbouring Iraq and Syria.

Headline: Nusra-led militants pound Hezbollah, Syria army posts near Lebanon border
Islamist rebels led by Al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate launched a preemptive strike Monday on pro-regime forces in a mountainous area near the Lebanese border, setting off fierce clashes, a monitor said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Al Nusra Front and other groups attacked positions belonging to the regime and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which backs the government, in the Qalamoun region. “Violent clashes are ongoing since this morning between Hezbollah, regime troops and pro-regime militiamen on one side and Islamist factions and Al Nusra on the other side,” the group said. Last year, government forces backed by the Shia Islamist Hezbollah movement managed to expel rebels from most of Qalamoun, which lies north of Damascus and runs along the Lebanese border. But opposition fighters remain entrenched in the mountainous area along the border with Lebanon, and have launched attacks from there. A source close to Al Nusra confirmed the fighting underway in the region. “This is the zero hour and the battle in the region has begun,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Headline: Yemen: Saudi Arabia used cluster bombs, rights groups says
The Saudi-led coalition carrying out air strikes in Yemen has used US-supplied cluster bombs banned by much of the world, a rights group has said. Human Rights Watch (HRW) said it had evidence that the bombs were used at least twice against Houthi rebels. There were no reports of casualties. Cluster bombs spread small bombs over a wide area and can leave unexploded munitions buried in the ground. They are banned under a treaty signed by 116 countries, but not Saudi Arabia. The US and the other countries in Saudi Arabia’s military coalition are not signatories of the 2008 treaty either. The US does however bar the sale of the weapons to countries that use them in civilian areas. HRW, which is based in the US, said one of the alleged cluster bomb strikes occurred in the al-Amar area of al-Safraa.

The United Nations says the humanitarian situation in Yemen has grown desperate after weeks of air strikes. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is holding consultations with members of the alliance in defense of legitimacy in Yemen and all countries that support it, to create specific areas inside Yemen to deliver humanitarian supplies, where all aerial operations will stop at specific times to allow these supplies in, as stipulated by UN Security Council resolution 2216,” Jubeir said in a statement.

Headline: Hundreds protest against Al-Qaeda control of Yemen city
Hundreds of residents have protested against Al-Qaeda controlling Mukalla, the capital of southeast Yemen’s Hadramawt province, a month after jihadis overran the city, witnesses said Monday. “Batarfi out out, Hadramawt wants freedom,” they chanted late on Sunday, referring to Khalid Batarfi, a senior Al-Qaeda figure who has reportedly been named the “emir of Mukalla.” Batarfi was among more than 300 prisoners who escaped from a Mukalla jail stormed by militants as Al-Qaeda overran the city last month. Sunday’s protest erupted after militants stormed a mosque following evening prayers and one pointed a gun at the imam and threatened to kill him for criticizing Al-Qaeda, a local official told AFP. “Southerners wake up. Say ‘no’ to Al-Qaeda and ‘no’ to Houthis,” protesters chanted, also declaring their rejection of the Shiite rebels who have seized the capital and are fighting to expand their territory in the south.

Syria Headline: Syrian General Injured in Rebel Suicide Bombing
A suicide bomber has blown himself up in the centre of the Syrian capital, Damascus, officials and activists say. State media said troops had foiled an attack by a “terrorist group” in the Rukn al-Din district, where several major security facilities are located. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the jihadist group al-Nusra Front had targeted an army general responsible for logistics. Maj Gen Mohammed Eid was injured, and one of his guards was killed, it added. However, security sources denied that the general had been targeted. Monday’s attack took place near a building used by the Syrian army’s munitions and supply division. Witnesses told the AFP news agency that the blast emanated from a small motorcycle, and that it was followed by 15 minutes of gunfire. “A terrorist group rode into the Rukn al-Din neighbourhood on motorcycles and began clashing with security forces,” a security official told AFP. “When they realised they could not escape, one of them detonated a suicide belt he was wearing,” he said, adding that security forces killed the remaining rebels. A local hospital said it was treating six people wounded by the explosion, but did not identify them. Rami Abdul Rahman, the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said a member of al-Nusra Front had blown himself up next to a car carrying Gen Eid as it passed through Rukn al-Din.

Syria Headline: Warning Intelligence Update: Possible Upheaval in the Syrian Capital
Major operations targeting entrenched anti-Assad forces in the outskirts of Damascus appear to be upcoming as Hezbollah and the Syrian regime prepare to target anti-Assad hold out positions in the capital and its countryside. In addition, indicators have emerged of a possible intervention by regional actors to assist in defeating Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. This includes ongoing negotiations to deepen the cooperation between prominent hardline Islamist groups Jaysh al-Islam and Harakat Ahrar al-Sham, which would increase the effectiveness of anti-Assad forces regardless of direct regional intervention. Together these trends indicate that a major shakeup of the military situation in Damascus Province is likely in coming weeks.

Syria Headline: Islamic State reports new gains northeastern Syria
Fierce battles continue between the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the eastern countryside of Tel Temir (50 km west of Hasakah), northeastern Syria, after the group launched a major offensive on the villages along the Khabur River, reaching the highway between Aleppo and Hasakah. The area has seen heavy fighting during the last two days, especially in the villages of Tel Jadaya and Tel Fwaida, north of the al-Khabur River, resulting in the death of dozens on both sides. Nevertheless, IS was able to make new gains in the area. Speaking to ARA News, Damhat Zagro, a fighter in the YPG ranks, said that an IS suicide attack struck the YPG headquarters in the village of Tel Rumman. “Following two successive attacks on the village (Tel Rumman) from different directions, the group was easily able to control the northern route towards the city of Hasakah,” he explained. In a related development, an Assyrian fighter from the Haras al-Khabur forces, Mikhail Dinkha, told ARA News that the terrorist group received new reinforcements from Aleppo, including more militants and heavy armored vehicles.

At least 13 people have been killed by a car bomb in Baghdad in one of the deadliest attacks in the Iraqi capital this year. “At least 13 people were killed and 39 wounded in a car bomb facing a popular restaurant in the Karrada area,” a police colonel told news agency AFP. Karrada is an area full of shops and restaurants and would have been busy on Saturday night, which marks the end of the weekend in Iraq. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack in the predominantly Shiite district, which comes after a series of similar bombings in the capital. Eleven people were killed and more than 40 wounded in a wave of car bomb attacks on Thursday and another nine were killed in two car bombings in Baghdad on Monday. The Islamic State jihadist group claimed it carried out those attacks on Shiite districts of Baghdad to avenge attacks on displaced persons from a Sunni province.

Iraqi forces besieged inside the country’s largest oil refinery are running low on food and pleading for reinforcements to save them from Islamic State militants who have advanced deep into the compound in the past week. The insurgents now hold large sections of the sprawling Baiji refinery complex in northern Iraq where some 200 policemen, soldiers and elite special forces are holding out. “We are surrounded by Daesh from all sides,” said a policeman called Mohanad, speaking via telephone from the refinery where his unit has taken up defensive positions in a guest house on the eastern side of the complex. Daesh is the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group, also known as ISIS or ISIL in English. “We can hear Daesh fighters shouting and threatening to behead anyone they catch. In 2011, he was convicted of making a false statement involving international and domestic terrorism. The other suspect, identified as Nadir Soofi by two federal law enforcement officials, was Simpson’s roommate in a Phoenix apartment. Latvia says its National Armed Forces have detected Russian vessels 42 times this year alone. In 2014, Russian military ships and planes approached the Latvian border about 250 times, it said. Maneuvers in Latvia’s exclusive economic zone, which is not in the country’s territorial waters, do violate international regulations. Headline: Senate prepares to advance bill on Iran nuclear deal
Republican Senate leaders, worried that proposals from conservatives in their caucus could upend the fragile bipartisan agreement on legislation targeting the Iranian nuclear deal, are poised to cut off debate on the bill, Politico reports. The U.S., Iran, and five other nations reached an interim agreement at the end of March to limit and monitor Iran’s nuclear energy program in exchange for a rollback of the sanctions that have crippled Iran’s economy. Negotiators are working toward an end-of-June deadline for a final deal. The Senate is debating a bill that would allow Congress to review any final agreement that emerges. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee managed to hammer out a proposal in March that passed the panel unanimously and drew the reluctant backing of the White House. That bill would have allowed Congress 30 days to pass a resolution disapproving of a deal with Iran before any U.S. sanctions are lifted. But now that the bill has hit the Senate floor, several conservative Republicans are pushing amendments to demand more of Iran, and the White House is threatening to veto any bill that could jeopardize the international agreement.

Headline: South Sudan’s future at grave risk: Kerry
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Monday that South Sudan’s government and rebels had failed to make compromises needed to end a civil conflict and that this was putting the future of the world’s youngest nation at “grave risk”. South Sudan split from Sudan as an independent nation in 2011, helped by the political and financial backing of the United States and other Western powers. But a political crisis between President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar, who he sacked as his deputy in 2013, erupted into a conflict in December of that year. Fighting has rumbled on since then with both sides ignoring repeated agreements to stop. “South Sudan’s leaders … have not yet chosen to make the compromises needed for peace,” Kerry told a news conference in Nairobi, noting that the fighting put at “grave risk” the promising future the oil-producing nation once had.

The Libyan Air Force launched a series of airstrikes against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) positions in the eastern city of Derna on Saturday, the stronghold of a number of extremist groups currently operating in the war-torn country. Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday, a high-ranking Libyan Air Force official, who requested anonymity, said the targeted ISIS positions in Derna included weapons and ammunition storage facilities used by the extremist group. In an online statement, which also included photographs, ISIS also said it had been targeted in Derna, though it maintained the strikes had been limited to its “Islamic Police” headquarters in the city. Neither the source from the Libyan Air Force nor ISIS gave further details regarding any losses the group suffered in the city following the strikes. Meanwhile, sources from the Libyan National Army told Asharq Al-Awsat on Sunday that forces from the militant Libyan Dawn group recently attempted to take over the Al-Watia Airbase, which lies 87 miles (140 kilometers) southwest of the capital Tripoli. The sources said the advance on Al-Watia by Libyan Dawn had been blocked after fierce clashes occurred between the militants and army units in the region surrounding the base.

There are no threats.” The threats are connected to the Lag BaOmer Jewish festival, which will be celebrated on May 7, Netanyahu’s statement said. It urged Jews not to visit Tunisia during the festival.

Headline: Three reported killed in unrest over Burundi president’s vote bid
Three protesters were killed in Burundi’s capital on Monday, the Red Cross said, as demonstrations against a decision by President Pierre Nkurunziza’s to seek a third term in office ran into a second week. Police in the Musaga district of Bujumbura fired shots toward lines of protesters who were hurling stones, a Reuters witness said. An explosion also wounded at least two officers. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told a news conference in Nairobi the decision to seek a third term “flies directly in the face” of the constitution. Nkurunziza, he said, should pay heed to public concern. Police spokesman Liboire Bakunduwukize denied two protesters were killed, and said 15 police were wounded by a hand grenade. “Today, tomorrow or the day after, wherever they will hurl grenades or wherever they will shoot, the police has a right to throw a grenade as well and even to shoot back and that’s how it will be,” he told reporters at a hospital. Hundreds more rallied elsewhere in the capital, called out by civil society groups who argue that under a peace agreement that ended a civil war, Nkurunziza could not serve another term. Red Cross spokesman Alexis Manirakiza said three protesters had been killed and 35 wounded.

Headline: Australia deadly super storm kills destroys homes
More than 100 houses have been left uninhabitable in Queensland following a super storm that killed six people. A number of places in the state recorded their wettest May days since 1996, according to Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology. The state now faces a massive clean-up and insurers say they have received thousands of claims. The government has offered support to those worst affected and has warned the number of destroyed homes could rise. “There are 106 homes that are uninhabitable, this morning,” said Queensland government Police Minister Jo-Ann Miller. “It will be a couple of days, maybe even a few more than that, for us to work out whether or not they are able to go back into their homes,” she said.

Headline: Palestinian News Agency: ‘Freedom Flotilla III’ is set to challenge Gaza blockade
Three ships are expected to set sail for Gaza this summer as part of a humanitarian mission to Gaza, Ma’an News Agency reported Friday. Details of the mission, coined “Freedom Flotilla III,” remain under the radar. Berawi Zaher, coordinator of the international mission, told Ma’an that its details, including the ships’ departure time and fleet location, will not be released in an effort to hamper Israeli authorities from intervening and exerting international pressure to halt the execution of the mission. The flotilla will be the third of its kind launched by the FCC, the first being 2010’s Mavi Marmara, which ended in violence after being intercepted by the IDF’s navy. Two activists were killed in the confrontation. This past summer, in the midst and aftermath of Operation Protective Edge, the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) threatened to send a second flotilla, “Freedom Flotilla II,” to challenge the blockade.

Headline: Iran swings behind escalated Syrian-Hizballah anti-Israel terror offensive on the Golan
The Syrian and Hizballah military delegations visiting Tehran this week achieved their purpose: debkafile’s intelligence and military sources report that in three days of talks up until Friday April 30, Syrian Defense Minister Gen. Fahad Jassim al-Freij procured from his Iranian counterpart Hussein Dehghan, approval for a stepped up terror campaign against Israeli forces and civilians on the Golan, to be executed by terrorist surrogates. Iran pledged its support for this campaign and promised to make the Revolutionary Guards and Afghani Shiite forces present in Syria available, in the event of an Israeli counter-attack. A stamping ground, designated “the open area,” was to be provided for all terrorist militias willing to attack Israel. It would stretch from Damascus to the Golan – a distance of 60 km by road – and take in the Syrian Hermon and Lebanese Chebaa Farms. Syrian and Hizballah military intelligence services will take responsibility for coordinating their operations and providing them with arms and intelligence. According to the plan approved in Tehran, Syria and Hizballah will establish new militias for their campaign as well as deploying existing terrorist groups. One such framework, made up of Syrian Druzes, was set up in recent weeks. Its first attack last Sunday April 26 – an attempt to plant a bomb near an Israeli Golan border position – was a flop. All four bombers were killed in an Israeli air strike and the device did not detonate.

Headline: Iran’s claim that Israel has 400 nuclear weapons
“It’s laughable that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu has become everybody’s nonproliferation guru. He is sitting on 400 nuclear warheads, nuclear warheads that have been acquired in violation of the NPT [Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty].” –Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, speaking in New York, April 29, 2015
In the debate over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the unacknowledged nuclear stockpile of Israel often comes up. In the 1950s and 1960s, Israel secretly acquired the technology and material to build nuclear weapons, frequently misleading the U.S. government about its intentions. (France was Israel’s partner in the building of the Dimona reactor in the Negev desert, while South Africa is believed by some to have assisted Israel in conducting at least one nuclear test in the 1970s.) Zarif quickly noted that Israel (unlike Iran) is not a member of the NPT, but added: “Those who provided them with the technology were members of the NPT and violated the NPT to provide them with the technology, and we know who they were. And now they are the proponents of nonproliferation.” (Actually, France’s cooperation with Israel ended in 1966, before the NPT went into effect in 1970.)

Headline: Syrian Islamists take over crossing near Israel
On Thursday, Islamist rebels of Ahrar al-Sham in Syria seized a crossing in Quneitra province near the Israeli border. Ahrar al-Sham took over the crossing of al-Qahtaniya after three days of fierce clashes with another Islamist group known as Army of Jihad –which has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS/ISIS). Haitham Nassar, a media activist accompanying Ahrar al-Sham in Quneitra, told ARA News that dozens were killed on both sides during the clashes. According to military sources, the crossing of al-Qahtaniya is considered a strategic one for its proximity to the Golan Heights. Ahrar al-Sham has played a role in the rebels operation in Idlib that resulted in the control of the city after forcing Assad army to withdraw.

Headline: Yemeni conflict spills into Saudi Arabia
Three Saudi troops and “dozens” of Houthi rebels were killed as Saudi forces repelled a major attack from inside Yemen, Saudi officials say. The rebels attacked near the town of Najran, reports say, in what would be their biggest assault on Saudi soil since a Saudi military campaign began. A statement by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, said the overnight attack happened on its southern border. Identifying the attackers as Shia Houthi rebels and groups allied to them, SPA said Saudi ground troops exchanged fire with them and called in air strikes. Earlier on Thursday, a Saudi border guard was killed by a mortar shell close to the border with Yemen in the south-west Saudi province of Jizan. Seventeen Saudi troops have been killed in attacks by Yemeni rebels during the last five weeks.

Headline: Air strikes kill civilians in Yemeni capital
Warplanes from a Saudi-led coalition struck a residential district of the Yemeni capital Sanaa overnight, killing eight to 10 civilians, residents said on Friday. The Saba state news agency, controlled by the Houthi movement in charge of Sanaa, put the death toll in the Sawan district at 20 and said more than 50 people had been wounded. It said casualties included woman and children. Warplanes also struck a military airbase near the capital. Saba said medics had rushed to Sawan to try to rescue residents trapped under the rubble of homes. The strikes came days after jets bombed the runway to stop an Iranian aid plane landing. Damage to the airport has stopped aid deliveries, officials said. In the southern port city of Aden, clashes continued between the Houthi fighters and local militiamen over the control of the main airport. At least 27 civilians and fighters from both sides were killed in the fight for the airport and in the port district of Mualla on Friday, a local militia source said. Eight Houthis were killed in an ambush by local militiamen in the central Crater district, the source said.

Headline: Islamic State beheads, shoots 15 Yemeni soldiers
The Islamic State in Yemen claimed credit for the brutal execution of 15 Yemeni soldiers who were captured in the city of Azzan in Shabwa province earlier this month. The treatment of the captured soldiers by the Islamic State presents a stark contrast to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s (AQAP) handling of captured Yemeni soldiers. The Islamic State’s “Media Office for Shabwa Province” released a short, two minute 19 second video called “Eliminating the Apostates” on Twitter today. The video was obtained and translated by the SITE Intelligence Group. In the video, the Islamic State displays 15 Yemeni soldiers. Local media reports indicated that tribal militias overran a military camp operated by the Yemeni Army’s 2nd Mountain Brigade in the city of Azzan in Shabwa province on April 12. Islamic State fighters from “Wilayat Ataq,” or Ataq province (Ataq is a city in Shabwa province), are reported to have executed the Yemeni soldiers days later, on April 14. The graphic execution of the Yemeni soldiers draws a contrast in methodology between the Islamic State and al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the dominant jihadist group in Yemen. The Islamic State has been challenging al Qaeda for control of the global jihad. The Islamic State in Yemen, like other Islamic State branches in the Middle East and Africa, has been indiscriminate in its application of violence. In its first major attack in Yemen, the group killed more than 100 people in suicide attacks that targeted Houthi mosques in the capital of Sana’a. The Houthis, a Shiite group that is backed by Iran, have taken over most of northern and eastern Yemen, and have encroached on areas in the south. The Islamic State has accused AQAP of being soft on the Houthis, and has sought to cleave off the more hardline elements of AQAP’s rank and file.

Syria Headline: Syrian Army Preempts Rebel Attacks in Regime Bastion
Syria’s army launched an offensive Friday against rebel groups in a bid to strengthen its control in the northwest Latakia province, a bastion of the regime, a monitor said. After a series of losses in neighboring Idlib province, the army is fortifying its positions to preempt potential rebel attacks on Latakia, home to the small Alawite religious community from which President Bashar al-Assad hails. Regime forces attacked rebel positions overnight from Thursday until Friday in the northeast of Latakia province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. “Seven opposition fighters and 10 pro-government forces were killed,” the Britain-based monitoring group said. Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said that “the battles are taking place around the Nabi Yunes hilltop, a strategic position 1,500 metres (5,000 feet) above sea level, on the edge of Idlib and Hama provinces.” The regime controls the hilltop itself, but opposition groups have taken over the foot of the hill to the west and northwest. “To protect Nabi Yunes, regime forces are trying to dislodge the rebels,” Abdel Rahman said.

Syria Headline: Syrian government pounds Idlib as troops besieged
Syrian airstrikes have killed at least 20 people in northwest Idlib province while regime forces tried to battle their way out of a siege in the provincial capital, activists said Thursday. In northern Syria, rebels have advanced on Mastouma, one of the few remaining regime garrisons in Idlib province. Overnight airstrikes targeted rebels north and south of the town of Jisr al-Shughur, which recently fell to the insurgents, and in and around the town of Saraqeb. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 23 civilians, including five children, were killed in those airstrikes. Observatory director Rami Abdel-Rahman said the regime was trying to halt the advance toward Mastouma. The airstrikes are “attempting to terrorize the rebels, but they end up killing civilians,” he said.

Syria Headline: An Army in All Corners:” Assad’s Campaign Strategy in Syria
U.S. policymakers in April 2015 appear to be returning to the position that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad represents the “least worst option in Syria” for American strategic interests. Assad is often compared to the Islamic State (ISIS) with the implication that Assad is the lesser of two evils. Senior administration officials including Secretary of State John Kerry signaled support for diplomatic negotiations with the regime in March 2015, rather than developing a committed strategy to remove Assad from power. American leaders’ ambivalence reflects the limitations of U.S. policy which attempts to treat Syria as the backdrop for a narrow counterterrorism problem rather than a comprehensive national security issue. This outlook is dangerously flawed.

Iraq Headline: IS Claims Six Car Bombings in Baghdad as Revenge for Displaced Sunnis from Anbar Killed in the Capital
Five car bombs exploded across Baghdad on Thursday evening, killing at least 17 people, in attacks that have become more frequent in the Iraqi capital since a decade-old night time curfew was lifted earlier this year. The deadliest of the blasts, which appeared to be coordinated, took place in the Iskan neighborhood, where five people were killed, police and medical sources said. Iraqi authorities lifted the curfew on Baghdad in February, seeking to restore a sense of normality to the city as security forces battle Islamic State militants who overran large sections in the north and west of the country last summer. But militants may be exploiting greater freedom of movement to carry out more attacks in the capital. Thursday was the third day of bombings in Baghdad this week. Another of the car bombs on Thursday exploded near a children’s hospital in Jamila, killing three civilians. Four people were killed by a bomb in a commercial street in al-Hurriya, three more in the Talbiya district and two in the Ur neighborhood.

Kurdish Headline: US Think Tank: Kurds Could Replace Strategic Partnership With Turkey
The DC-based think tank Bipartisan Policy Centre (BPC) in a report released last Thursday says the United States must look for a new reliable strategic partner such as the Kurds in Iraq and Syria to replace Turkey since Turkey is no longer dependable ally. Since the Cold War, the United States and Turkey have had a strong partnership based on shared strategic interests and aspirations towards sharing the same democratic values, the think tank says. But the Bipartisan Policy Centre now thinks that Turkey undermining U.S. interests (including the fight against the Islamic state (IS)). Moreover, , and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) is eroding democracy in Turkey. Therefore the think tank proposes that the United States should build a US airbase in Kurdistan, as an alternative to the Turkish Incirlik airbase. According to the BPC, Turkey’s continued refusal to allow access to the Turkish airbase has forced the US to fly missions out of the gulf. In addition, the US should discuss the delisting of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that has emerged as a viable partner against the terrorist IS-group.

Headline: Russia Conducts Nuclear Bomber Flight Near Alaska
Two Russian nuclear-capable bombers intruded into the U.S. air defense zone near Alaska last week in the latest saber rattling by Moscow, defense officials said. The Tu-95 Bear H bombers flew into the Alaska zone on April 22. But unlike most earlier incursions, no U.S. interceptor jets were dispatched to shadow them, said defense officials familiar with the latest U.S.-Russian aerial encounter. Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a spokesman for the U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), declined to confirm the incursion. But he said no jets were dispatched last week to intercept intruding aircraft. The incident was the first Russian bomber incursion of a U.S. or Canadian air defense zone this year. Officials said it likely signals the start of Russia’s long-range aviation spring training cycle. Further aerial incursions are expected.

Headline: US Navy accompanies 4 ships through Strait of Hormuz
The U.S. Navy accompanied four American-flagged ships and a British vessel moving through the Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of the Persian Gulf on Thursday, and officials said the U.S. will offer that aid to any other nation concerned about interference from Iranian vessels. U.S. Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said the four U.S. ships belonged to the Navy’s Military Sealift Command or were contract vessels. Those ships have civilian crews and are used to carry cargo or re-supply U.S. Navy ships. Air Force Col. Pat Ryder, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said that any U.S.-flagged ship can ask to be accompanied by Navy warships through the narrow strait, which includes Iranian territorial waters. Officials use the word “accompany” rather than escort, because they say the Navy ships are positioned nearby and are ready to respond if needed, but they don’t travel back and forth through the strait alongside each contract or Sealift Command vessel as they would during an escort. Ryder said the U.S. Navy ships don’t intend to go into Iranian territorial waters.

Headline: Photos show purported ISIS training camp in Afghanistan
Headline: Afghan delegation to meet with Taliban in Qatar: officials
New photos purport to show ISIS fighters training at a terrorist camp in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border, in what may be yet another sign of the black-clad jihadist army’s expanding reach. The pictures, obtained by a Pakistani journalist earlier this month and published by the military blog The Long War Journal, show apparent ISIS radicals training, marching in formation and brandishing heavy artillery. The photos were allegedly taken in the “Ustad Yasir” camp in the Logar province in eastern Afghanistan. The camp is believed to be operated by the Sa’ad bin Abi Waqas Front — a group named for an Al Qaeda leader who was killed by a U.S. airstrike in 2011. The camp is named for a key Taliban ideologue and top recruiter who was one of more than two dozen senior and mid-level Taliban officials killed in a 2012 “purge.” The photos raise questions about who the fighters are and how closely they are aligned with the Islamic State leadership in Syria and Iraq. Analysts said they could be disaffected former Taliban fighters — as naming their camp for an accused Taliban turncoat might suggest — of unaffiliated terrorists whose sympathies lie with the infamous jihadist army.

Headline: ISIS Pushes West, Eyeing a New Caliphate in Tunisia
There are increased signs that the self-proclaimed Islamic State has sets its sights on expanding its caliphate to Tunisia next. In the last two weeks, ISIS has published videos taunting the government, shared pictures of some its fighters brandishing guns and made fun of a Tunisian tourism campaign in the wake of a March bombing at a museum that was reportedly carried out by ISIS. The group also has posted online photos of supposed Tunisian martyrs to its cause—though the tweets don’t make clear where those purported members died. ISIS also announced that it is creating the Islamic State of Afrikah, an antiquated name for the region that is now Tunisia. For a time, Western counter-terrorism analysts hoped that ISIS’s recent territorial losses in Iraq weakened its ability to expand internationally. This lunge toward Tunisia undercuts those hopes.

Headline: Turkish police fire tear gas, water cannon at May Day protesters
Turkish police fired tear gas and water cannon at hundreds of stone-throwing May Day protesters on Friday, after they defied a ban and tried to march on Istanbul’s Taksim Square. Europe’s biggest city was under a security lockdown as thousands of police manned barricades and closed streets to stop demonstrations at Taksim, a traditional rallying ground for leftists that saw weeks of unrest in 2013. Riot police unleashed water cannon and chased protesters down side streets in the nearby Besiktas neighborhood and also they also fired off canisters of tear gas, a Reuters reporter said. Demonstrators lobbed stones and bottles at police and set off fireworks. Istanbul police said nearly 140 people had been detained, although activists said the number was nearly double that. The city’s governor said 6 police officers and 18 protestor had been injured in clashes, which died out as the afternoon wore on and a clean-up operation got underway. Critics say President Tayyip Erdogan and the government have become more authoritarian in the buildup to June elections.

Protesters marched against police violence in cities from New York to Denver on Wednesday, and a large demonstration in Baltimore ended peacefully two days after rioting over the death of a black man injured in police custody. The protests were the latest actions against racial profiling and police use of lethal force sparked by the deaths of African-American men in Cleveland; Ferguson, Missouri; New York and elsewhere in the past year. New York City police arrested more than 60 people as protesters roved in separate groups through Manhattan, blocking traffic in a few areas. Smaller protests occurred in Boston, Houston, Ferguson, Missouri, Washington, D.C., Seattle and a handful of demonstrators were arrested in Denver. In Baltimore, 3,000 National Guard troops and police stood by to enforce a 10 p.m. curfew as thousands of peaceful marchers converged on city hall. The march capped a day of calm in a city that two days earlier saw its worst rioting in decades.

Headline: UN Warns Burundi Could Descend Into Chaos
UN aid agencies warn the growing standoff between protesters and the Burundian government over upcoming presidential elections may results in the country descending into chaos and possibly civil war. The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said it’s worried about increasingly repressive measures being taken by Burundi’s government to stifle political dissent. Spokesman Rupert Colville pointed to a series of actions taken by authorities which he said seriously curtail people’s rights to freedom of peaceful expression and assembly. “Hundreds of people have also allegedly been detained since the demonstrations began last Sunday,” he said. “And according to one credible report, over 400 individuals are being held in extremely overcrowded conditions, with detainees actually having to sleep standing up, it is so crowded. “Detainees have also been beaten allegedly particularly on their feet and buttocks. And some of those who have been released have had trouble walking as a result of those beatings.”

The Tuareg rebels in Mali have reportedly stormed a town in the volatile northern region, killing one person and taking six others hostage. Hama Aboubacrine, the mayor of Bintagoungou, west of the city of Timbuktu, said on Friday that over 50 armed men from the Coordination of Azawad Movements, known by the French language acronym, CMA, came Thursday to “sow terror in Bintagoungou.” The mayor added that the gunmen, who were carrying a CMA flag, plundered several shops and a pharmacy and escaped with two vehicles. The CMA comprises ethnic Arabs and Tuaregs. A UN peacekeeping source in Mali also confirmed the attack in Bintagoungou. There has been no comment from the CMA. On Thursday, 19 people lost their lives in clashes between Tuareg rebels and units of government forces in the northern half of Mali, which has witnessed several days of violence. Tuaregs took control of northern Mali, which they call Azawad, in January 2012. The country has witnessed days of turmoil ever since.

Headline: Dog Infects Humans With Plague for First Time in US
A plague-infected dog spread the dangerous disease to four Colorado residents, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Health officials told ABC News that this the first report of a dog infecting a human with the plague in the U.S. The dog, a 2-year-old American pit bull terrier, became sick last summer with a fever and jaw rigidity, among other symptoms. The dog’s health declined so quickly that it was euthanized the following day at a local vet’s office, health officials said. Four days later, the dog’s owner entered the hospital with a fever and a bloody cough that became worse over the next few hours, but an initial blood culture was misidentified, according to the CDC report. As the patient’s symptoms grew worse, the test was redone and he was found to have been infected with pnumonic plague, according to the CDC report. The remains of the dog were also tested and were found to be positive for the plague bacteria. “Frankly one of the biggest surprises of this outbreak is the source,” said John Douglas, of Tri-County Health Department in Colorado and one of the study authors. “Primarily … dogs don’t get sick at all or they get a minor illness,” after being infected with the plague.

An extensive study done by the Pew Research Center has yielded some fascinating information regarding the trajectory of world religions over the next four decades. As of 2010, Christianity was the dominant world religion with roughly 2.2 billion adherents and Muslims were second with about 1.6 billion adherents. If current demographic trends continue however, Islam is expected to catch up to Christianity midway through the 21st century. Furthermore, people are leaving Christianity in droves. About 106 million Christians are expected to switch affiliation from 2010 to 2050 while only about 40 million people are expected to enter Christianity. The religiously unaffiliated (athiests, agnostics) are expected to see the largest net gains from switching, adding more than 61 million followers. In North America, the fastest growing religious groups are Muslims and followers of “other religions” (an umbrella category that includes Baha’is, Jains, Sikhs, Taoists and many smaller faiths). Christianity is expected to decline from 78 percent of the overall population in 2010 to 66 percent in 2050.

Increase in Drugs Revelation 9:21 “And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.”
In Revelation 9:21 we see Jesus speaking to us about drug’s. The words “sorceries” in Revelation 9:21 is the Greek word pharmakia from which comes our word “pharmacy”. It signifies the use of medicine, drugs, spells, such as those used in witchcraft and those used today by those who are seeking a greater “high”. This generation was to be labeled a drug generation and we are.
Headline: Almost one-fifth of Americans now take psychotropic drugs to cope with everyday life
The results of the annual Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index are in, and the methods by which many Americans now cope with their daily lives in this brave new world are sobering. Roughly one in five individuals living in the U.S., based on a random survey of people living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, now take some type of mood-altering drug or medication daily just to make it through their miserable lives. After conducting interviews with at least 450 residents of each U.S. state between January and December 2014, researchers found that about 20% of folks, on average, use pharmaceutical pills or other substances on a day-to-day basis to feel happy and stable. Each individual was asked, open-ended, whether or not he or she uses drugs that “affect your mood or help you relax,” and about one in five answered yes. The types of drugs people use to this end were not specified, and may include both “legal” medications like pharma pills, alcohol and nicotine, as well as various “illegal” substances. The worst state with the most drug use was West Virginia at 28.1%, followed closely behind by Rhode Island at 25.9%, Kentucky at 24.5% and Alabama at 24.2%.

Headline: Mount Everest Shrank As Nepal Quake Lifted Kathmandu
The first good view of the aftermath of Nepal’s deadly earthquake from a satellite reveals that a broad swath of ground near Kathmandu lifted vertically, by about 3 feet (1 meter), which could explain why damage in the city was so severe. The data also indicate the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest, got a wee bit shorter. The new information comes from Europe’s Sentinel-1A radar satellite. Scientists are racing to interpret the Sentinel data, which were made available today (April 29) just hours after the satellite passed over Nepal. The preliminary data can help guide relief efforts on the ground by identifying areas that were damaged or hit by landslides. Researchers detected the vertical shift in the ground by comparing before-and-after radar images from the satellite using a technique that produces an image called an interferogram. The resulting images have rainbow-colored areas that represent the movement of the ground between the times each radar image was taken. Each colorful fringe on the European Space Agency’s Nepal interferogram reflects about 1 inch (2.8 centimeters) of vertical movement. The results will be refined in the coming weeks, with as scientists further analysize the images and additional data from satellites become available.
