When White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told "Meet the Press" host David Gregory on Sunday that "there is no doubt there are enough seats in play that could cause Republicans to gain control", he was, to many people, stating the obvious. After all, political prognosticators — from Charlie Cook to Stu Rothenberg and every talking head in between — have noted (with varying degrees of certainty) that the House majority is clearly at risk for Democrats this fall.

“WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal deficit has topped $1 trillion with three months still to go in the budget year, showing the lasting impact of the recession on the government’s finances. In its monthly budget report, the Treasury Department said Tuesday that through the first nine months of this budget year, the deficit totals $1 trillion. That’s down 7.6 percent from the $1.09 trillion deficit run up during the same period a year ago.” “The deficit in the federal budget in June totaled $68.4 billion, the second highest June deficit on record, but down from the all-time high of $94.3 billion in June 2009, a month when the government was spending heavily to stabilize the financial system and jump-start economic growth. June is normally a surplus month as the government collects tax payments from corporations and individuals who make quarterly payments. Only seven years in the past 56 have seen deficits in June.

Two robots with surveillance, tracking, firing and voice recognition systems were integrated into a single unit, a defence ministry spokesman said.The 400 million won (£220,000) unit was installed last month at a guard post in the central section of the Demilitarised Zone which bisects the peninsula, Yonhap news agency said.” “The robot uses heat and motion detectors to sense possible threats, and alerts command centres, Yonhap said. If the command centre operator cannot identify possible intruders through the robot’s audio or video communications system, the operator can order it to fire its gun or 40mm automatic grenade launcher.”

Many frequent fliers complain they’re time-consuming or invade their privacy. The world’s airlines say they shouldn’t be used for primary security screening. trying to breach Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. The confirmation came after the ship’s organizers said that an Israeli military vessel had confronted the ship and ordered it to change course for the Egyptian port of el-Arish. The Gadhafi International Charity and Development Foundation said its boat refused to alter its destination and will steam on for Gaza. The foundation said in a statement posted on its website Tuesday that the Israeli vessel was continuing to shadow the aid ship.”

“Hizbullah tunnels under border”
“Concerns are mounting in the defense establishment that Hizbullah may be digging tunnels from Lebanon to Israel to attack a border community or IDF outpost. While the IDF has been worried that Hizbullah will try to kidnap soldiers – as it has done twice in the past – the latest fears surround the possibility that terrorists will cross into Israel through tunnels, enter a border community like Shlomi and barricade themselves inside a home with civilians. In addition, there is concern that Hizbullah will use these tunnels to plant explosives underneath and next to IDF posts. This tactic was used successfully in 2004 by Hamas, which detonated an explosives tunnel under an IDF outpost in southern Gaza, killing five soldiers. Army commanders deployed along the border worry that a future Hizbullah strike would involve not only rocket and mortar fire, as the IDF projects, but also a simultaneous attack aimed at both kidnapping a soldier and infiltrating a border community.”

“Mystery epidemic taking toll on Syrian military” “LONDON — Syria’s military was said be fighting a mysterious epidemic that has killed several soldiers and delayed programs. The Syrian opposition asserted that an unknown disease has been raging through Syrian Army barracks, particularly in the north. The opposition said the suspected epidemic has killed several people and delayed a recruitment program.” “
This marked the second report by the Syrian opposition of an epidemic that has struck the Army. The first report said many Syrian soldiers were hospitalized by what appeared to be dysentery. The disease was attributed to a lack of water, food and poor sanitary conditions in Syrian military training camps.
"There has been a lot of speculation about the reasons for this disease, some blaming the vaccines given to new soldiers, which may have been corrupted," the West Kurdistan Society said. "Others attributed the cause to the state of the weather as there is a wave of intense heat and high temperatures. Some attribute it to a bacterial contamination in water and food in the barracks, and so far this is limited to members of the military, not Syrian civilians." “The Syrian government is unable to provide quick solutions to reduce the spread of the disease, which has turned into a nightmare that haunts members of the Army and the Syrian community in general," the statement said.

Prophecy Sign: Jesus in Matthew 32-39 shows us the last days generation who be just like the one which lived during Noah’s time. Prophecy Sign: In chapter 18 of the Book of Revelation we see people weeping over items which will be taken away from them. As you can see gold and silver are two of the items. “Gov’t HORROR: IRS to begin tracking gold and silver coin purchases”
In past editions of this service, I’ve advocated tuning your personal radar to pick up early indications that the government is taking an active interest in gold. Especially when that interest revolves around terrorists or tax evaders, two popular bogeymen these days.
It was, therefore, with more than a little concern that I read an article in our Ed Steer’s Gold & Silver Daily service yesterday on an item slid into the legislation authorizing the government takeover of health care. Here’s a snip from Ed’s letter…
The good folks over at numismaster.com report that, starting on January 1st in 2012, U.S. federal law will require coin and bullion dealers to report to the Internal Reve
nue Service all gold and silver coin purchases and sales greater than $600. The report is written by David L. Ganz and is headlined "$600 Sale? Get Ready for Tax Form." Apparently this little jewel was an add-on to the national health care legislation. But there’s a new bill being introduced by Rep. Dan Lungren (H.R. 5141), which has gathered over 80 members of Congress as co-sponsors to repeal this section… so we’ll see how that turns out.
According to the author of the article Ed references, the rationale for the new regulations is that the taxocrats believe that people conducting off-book trading in precious metals are chiseling them out of $17 billion in lost revenue annually. The net result, however, will be that the government will soon know who’s got the gold.
