Islamic Jihad breaches cease-fire hours after announcing it
The Islamic Jihad terror group in the Gaza Strip announced a unilateral cease-fire on Monday, calling for a halt after two days of intense fighting with Israel, just a week before the country’s national elections. In a short statement, the Iranian proxy said it had completed its “retaliation” for the killing of three of its members. But it vowed to respond to any further Israeli “aggression.” But just hours after the announcement, at least two rockets were fired out of Gaza, raising the prospect of renewed fighting. Previously, Israeli aircraft pounded dozens of targets in the Gaza Strip, while Islamic Jihad militants bombarded southern Israel with heavy rocket fire before the cease-fire announcement Monday evening. Israel also expanded its retaliation to Syria, where some of the Iranian-backed group’s leaders are based, killing two more Islamic Jihad terrorists. There were no reports of civilian casualties on either side.

Netanyahu Heads to Abraham’s Tomb to Ask God for Israel’s Salvation
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Cave of the Patriarchs on Sunday with his wife, Sara, and several of his ministers. They took the opportunity to recite Psalms and to pray for the sake of the State of Israel. Netanyahu was accompanied by Defense Minister Naftali Bennett, Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely, and Minister of Culture and Sport Miri Regev. Led by Rabbi Hillel Horowitz, the head of the regional council of Hebron, the politicians recited Psalms 121, Psalms 130 (as seen in the video), and recited the Prayer for the Welfare of the State of Israel.

Pentagon Adopts New Ethical Principles for Using AI in War
The Pentagon is adopting new ethical principles as it prepares to accelerate its use of artificial intelligence technology on the battlefield. The new principles call for people to “exercise appropriate levels of judgment and care” when deploying and using AI systems, such as those that scan aerial imagery to look for targets. They also say decisions made by automated systems should be “traceable” and “governable,” which means “there has to be a way to disengage or deactivate” them if they are demonstrating unintended behavior, said Air Force Lt. Gen. Jack Shanahan, director of the Pentagon’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center. An existing 2012 military directive requires humans to be in control of automated weapons but doesn’t address broader uses of AI.

‘Onward’ introduces the first LGBTQ character in Disney animation history
It’s been a long wait, but a Disney heroine finally has a girlfriend… and it’s not Elsa. Months after The Rise of Skywalker featured the first same-sex kiss in the Star Wars galaxy, the new animated film Onward introduces the first self-identified lesbian character into the Disney-Pixar universe. Her name is Officer Specter, and she’s a Cyclops cop voiced by openly gay screenwriter and actress Lena Waithe. While Specter’s inclusion in Onward is a major first for Disney, it’s treated almost matter-of-factly in the movie itself, which the filmmakers say is by design. “It just kind of happened,” Onward producer Kori Rae tells Yahoo Entertainment. “The scene, when we wrote it, was kind of fitting and it opens up the world a little bit, and that’s what we wanted.” Adds director Dan Scanlon, “It’s a modern fantasy world and we want to represent the modern world.”
