Headline: Palestinian “Prayer Rally” at Temple Mount Turns Into Violent Riot
Headline: PA Calls to Commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day by Killing Jews
Headline: ‘We will soon establish the caliphate, liberate Jerusalem and conquer Rome’
The Hamas call for mass “prayer rallies” on Friday at the Al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem quickly deteriorated into violent riots. Approximately 8,000 Palestinians answered the call for a Hamas “prayer rally” but immediately upon finishing their prayers, several hundred began rioting. Israeli police were called in to deal with the violence using non-lethal crowd control measures. It is believed the violence is focused on an illegal attempt to take over the Gate of Mercy which was illegally opened and is being used for exclusively Muslim prayer.

Headline: Hamas will keep up incendiary balloon attacks
Just days before dozens of world leaders are expected to gather in Jerusalem, a cluster of explosive balloons landed close the capital. They were dismantled by Israel Police bomb disposal experts. The incident on Monday, in the area of Mesilat Tzion near the city of Beit Shemesh, caused no damage or injuries, and comes after several other clusters landed in communities in southern Israel over the weekend. On Sunday, the Israeli military fired a shell toward a Hamas post along the Gaza border fence in response to the launching of an explosive balloon cluster from the blockaded coastal enclave, which had detonated over the college town of Sderot.

Earlier this month, Israel began pumping gas to Jordan from its offshore Leviathan gas field as part of a 15-year, $10 billion dollar deal with Texas-based Noble Energy and Israel’s Delek Group.

Headline: Lebanon on ‘brink of chaos and anarchy’ as peaceful protests turn violent
Lebanon is bracing for deepening unrest after weekend riots in the capital suggested the country’s once-peaceful protest movement is entering a dangerous new phase. Rescue services and police said Sunday that more than 400 people were treated for injuries after the worst night of violence since Lebanese took to the streets in October to demand a new government capable of leading the country out of an acute economic and financial crisis. Protesters and security forces clashed again on the streets Sunday night, with police firing rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannon to disperse demonstrators hurling paving stones, fireworks and other projectiles.

Headline: Dozens wounded as Iraqi protesters up pressure on government
Iraqi security forces wounded dozens of protesters on Sunday as renewed anti-government demonstrations gripped the capital and Iraq’s south, activists and officials said. The mass protests had lost steam when soaring U.S.-Iran tensions threatened an open conflict on Iraqi soil in past weeks. As the regional crisis receded, Iraqi activists gave the government a week’s deadline to act on their demands for sweeping political reforms or said they would up the pressure with new demonstrations.

Three rockets hit near the US embassy in the Iraqi capital’s high-security Green Zone, security sources told AFP, with no immediate reports of casualties. The US has blamed Iran-backed paramilitary groups for a spate of similar attacks in recent months on the Green Zone, but there has never been a claim of responsibility.

Iran threatened Monday to withdraw from the 1970 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) if a dispute over its atomic program goes before the UN Security Council. Britain, France and Germany launched a process last week charging Iran with failing to observe the terms of a 2015 nuclear deal, a move that could eventually see the Security Council reimpose international sanctions on the country.

Headline: “We’re Ready To Fight”: 1000s Expected To Attend Massive Gun-Rights Rally At Virginia Capitol
As various pro-gun rights groups prepare to gather at Virginia’s state capitol in Richmond on Monday in what’s expected to be one of the largest pro-gun rallies in recent memory, Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency, police are busy setting up barricades and temporary holding pens – and one lawmaker has even arranged to spend most of the day in a safe house, according to the Washington Examiner. The rally is expected to draw tens of thousands, and fears about Charlottesville-style violence are prompting police to scour the web for any signs of a violent plot. Already, the FBI has arrested three alleged members of a violent white supremacist group who were planning on attending the rally.

The missile struck a mosque at the al-Estiqbal camp in Marib where soldiers had gathered for evening prayers. The government blamed the rebel Houthi movement, but it did not immediately confirm it had launched the missile. It was one of the bloodiest single attacks since the conflict in Yemen escalated five years ago.

Headline: Eruption at Shishaldin volcano, Aviation Color Code raised to Red, Alaska
The plume extends from the summit 150 km (93 miles) east and is as high as about 6 km (20 000 feet) above sea level, as seen in satellite data at 17:17 UTC. Seismicity is elevated and the eruption is detected on regional infrasound arrays, the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) reports. The Aviation Color Code was lowered back to Orange and Alert Level to Watch at 09:37 UTC on January 20, following greatly declined ash emissions at about 05:30 UTC and low seismicity. Satellite images show the detached volcanic cloud drifting ESE over the Pacific Ocean. “Low-level steam and ash emissions may be ongoing from the summit vent. It is possible for a more significant eruption to resume with little warning,” AVO said.
