Headline: ‘No Jews’ Job Ad in France Sparks Anger
A French anti-racism organisation on Tuesday filed an official complaint for discrimination after a company published a job ad online looking for a computer graphics designer who “if possible” is “not Jewish.” The job description, which was published Monday on specialized website www.graphic-jobs.com by graphic design agency NSL Studio and has since been removed, sparked a furore on the Internet. The company has distanced itself from “the anti-Semitic comments that were published on February 2, 2015 on the site,” it says on its website, where it also announced having filed a complaint so that a probe can determine “who is responsible for this publication.” “NSL Studio is an agency of integrity that does not discriminate,” it said, adding that “the person in charge of the ad will be questioned, a probe launched and the necessary measures taken if it turns out that it really came from us.” NSL Studio had earlier said on its Twitter account that its job ad had been hacked.

Headline: Allahu Akbar: Hamas ‘Conquers the University of California’
“Hamas has taken over UC Davis” wrote a student senator, after anti-Israel activists at the University of California, Davis, shouted “Allahu akbar” (Allah is greater) at Jewish students during a vote to boycott Israel that passed last Thursday evening. The Jewish students took part in an attempt to counter the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) effort that has been rampant on American campuses. As they left ahead of an eight to two vote in favor, activists waving flags of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) terrorist group heckled them, as seen in a video received by the Washington Free Beacon from a pro-Israel student group on the campus, Aggies for Israel. And then, mere hours after the vote that was championed by the openly pro-Hamas student group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), anonymous vandals defaced the Jewish AEPi organization’s fraternity house, spraying swastikas on it. “Our U.C. Davis AEPi fraternity house was tagged with two swastikas, coming 24 hours after the deeply troubling actions on campus coming from those seeking to delegitimize Israel and her people,” leaders and alumni of AEPi said in a joint statement.

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline: Jordan to execute jihadi prisoner after pilot killed
Islamic State militants released a video on Tuesday purporting to show a captive Jordanian pilot being burnt alive, and Jordanian state television said he was murdered a month ago. Reuters could not immediately confirm the video, which showed a man resembling the captive pilot standing in a black cage before being set ablaze. The pilot, Mouath al-Kasaesbeh, was captured by Islamic State insurgents after his plane crashed over Syria while on a bombing mission against the group in December. Jordanian state TV said Kasaesbeh had been killed on Jan. 3. There was no further comment from the Jordanian government. The head of the Jordanian armed forces broke the news of the pilot’s killing to his family, a member of the family told Reuters. The pilot’s fate has gripped Jordan and provoked rare protests against King Abdullah over the government’s handling of the case.

Headline: ISIS Knew It Would Face Backlash Over Burning
When ISIS posted a video of the immolation of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh, it already knew it would face a backlash in the Islamic world. The video of al-Kaseasbeh’s execution in a blaze of flame was circulated around 11:30 a.m. EST. Just 10 minutes later, a list of talking points for supporters—a sort of crisis management plan—was circulated, describing how to justify the latest execution under Islamic principles if questioned. The forum post was entitled “Moaz Was Burnt Alive, Below Is the Islamic Justification for Such an Act.” The post purported to prepare its online defenders to answer questions that may arise from the video and the means of execution portrayed therein. The user who created it, a moderator on the Al-Platform forum, said: “People are going to ask themselves whether or not this is approved by religion. Some can claim that religion is not approving of burning people, and nor the Sharia or common sense.” The post continues, “Most scholars think nowadays it is fine to burn the victim.” It tries to shrug off the fact that the Quran expressly prohibits the burning of captives.

Headline: Hezbollah, Army pound militant hideouts along Syria border
Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army pounded militant hideouts along the Lebanese-Syrian border with new ferocity Tuesday, security sources said. Hezbollah attacked militant hideouts on the outskirts of the eastern town of Nahleh, with the sound of artillery echoing across the Baalbek area, the sources said. Residents heard the sounds of heavy rocket and gunfire as they became wary of a possible militant incursion. According to security sources, militants have reinforced their positions on the outskirts of the Lebanese border town after they engaged in heavy clashes with Hezbollah in the area last week. Separately, the Lebanese Army opened fire at militant positions in the outskirts of Arsal, several kilometers north of Nahle. Troops were using rockets and heavy artillery to pound militant posts in Wadi al-Ayouni, Wadi al-Khayl, Khirbet Daoud, and Jabal al-Mkhayramiyeh, sources said.

Headline: Saudi Oil Seen as Lever to Pry Russia Away From Syria’s Assad
Saudi Arabia has been trying to pressure President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia to abandon his support for President Bashar al-Assad of Syria, using its dominance of the global oil markets at a time when the Russian government is reeling from the effects of plummeting oil prices. Saudi Arabia and Russia have had numerous discussions over the past several months that have yet to produce a significant breakthrough, according to American and Saudi officials. It is unclear how explicitly Saudi officials have linked oil to the issue of Syria during the talks, but Saudi officials say — and they have told the United States — that they think they have some leverage over Mr. Putin because of their ability to reduce the supply of oil and possibly drive up prices. “If oil can serve to bring peace in Syria, I don’t see how Saudi Arabia would back away from trying to reach a deal,” a Saudi diplomat said. An array of diplomatic, intelligence and political officials from the United States and Middle East spoke on the condition of anonymity to adhere to protocols of diplomacy.

Headline: Hamas Supporters Demonstrate Against Egypt
Egyptian troops fired warning shots over the frontier into Gaza on Tuesday after a bomb exploded on Gaza territory near an Egyptian army convoy, Egyptian security sources said, blaming Islamist group Hamas, which denied the charge. In Alexandria, Egypt’s second city, a man was killed in a bomb blast hours after two devices were discovered at Cairo airport and another went off in the center of the capital without casualties, other security sources said. Hamas, which governs Gaza, said Palestinian positions had come under fire from Egyptian soil with no justification. “Fire was directed in a surprising, unjustified way and without any violation from the Palestinian side,” said Eyad al-Bozom, a spokesman for Gaza’s Hamas-run interior ministry.

Syria Headline: Syrian rebels call for unity against Assad forces in Aleppo
The Levant Clerics Front (LCF) demanded all rebel factions in the province of Aleppo, in northern Syria, join the Levant Front (aj-Jabha ash-Shamiya). The LCF warned in an official statement, of which ARA News received a copy, all the military factions in Aleppo from being drawn into the swamp of Afghan and Somali sedition, pointing to the factions’ commitment to the provisions for the cease-fire between them and paying attention to fighting Assad forces. “All operating rebel factions in Aleppo must join the Levant Front, which has strictly excluded the extremist group of the al-Nusra Front and the Abu Amara Brigades,” the LCF’s statement read. The statement also called for a stop to attacks on the headquarters of other rebel military factions, as well as stealing weapons or any kind of kidnapping attempts. “Any infringement of one (rebel) faction over another, or accusing one another of apostasy without legislative proof, will force the Front to stop it by force of arms and then put the two sides in front of the law of God.”

Headline: WFP Alarmed by IS Logos on Its Syria Food Parcels
The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has declared itself “extremely concerned” by photographs showing its food parcels being handed out in Syria with Islamic State logos on them. Images circulating on social media show food being distributed from cardboard boxes with “Islamic State in Syria” labels pasted over the WFP logo. To get food and medicine to areas ruled by Islamic State, the U.N. says it relies on partner humanitarian organizations such as the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), which told Reuters on Tuesday it negotiates access with Islamic State, but distributes all aid itself. “WFP condemns this manipulation of desperately needed food aid inside Syria,” said Muhannad Hadi, WFP Emergency Regional Coordinator, in a statement late on Monday. The agency was trying to confirm the authenticity of those images, it said. The photographs seemed to have been taken in Deir Hafr village, about 50 km from Aleppo, where WFP last August delivered enough food to feed 8,500 people for a month.

Headline: Pro-Russia forces say shot down Ukrainian fighter jet
The escalating fighting in eastern Ukraine has exposed a central strategic fissure between the United States and Germany, two key allies that both have stakes in the conflict. Earlier this week, White House officials signaled their willingness to possibly provide lethal weapons to the embattled Ukrainian forces. Until now, the US hasn’t sent missiles or firearms for fear of provoking Russia, which supports the separatist forces. However, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday that Germany would play no part in supplying such arms to Kiev. She instead voiced support for negotiations and a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian conflict, which has killed at least 5,350 people, the UN reports. “Germany will not support Ukraine with weapons,” Ms. Merkel said after meeting with Hungary’s prime minister Victor Orban in Budapest. Merkel said she prefers the pressure exerted by economic sanctions on Russia and negotiations to “solve or at least mitigate the conflict,” The Associated Press reports.

A senior Iranian military commander was quoted as telling state media this week that the Islamic Republic has provided technological know-how to Hezbollah, Hamas, and other regional groups. Revolutionary Guards Brig. Gen. Amir-Ali Hajizadeh told Press TV that Iran has been exporting missile technology to its allies fighting “the Zionist regime, [Islamic State], and other Takfiri groups.” “By exporting the technology of manufacturing missiles and other equipment, Iran helped countries such as Syria, Iraq, and Palestine as well as Lebanon’s Hezbollah to stand up to and ground the Zionist regime, the ISIL and other Takfiri groups,” the Iranian commander said. Hajizadeh, who commands the Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace division, said that Iran is capable of mass-producing short- and medium-range missiles.

Headline: Iranian Website Targets Top IDF Officials
Iran has upped its rhetoric against Israeli and the IDF, Yediot Aharonot reports Tuesday – this time, specifically targeting three top-ranking IDF generals. The Iranian website Masruk posted photos and identifying details – some of them inaccurate – of three IDF officers they blame for the IAF’s airstrike last month on Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah positions in Syria: Home Front Command General Eyal Eisenberg, Golani Brigade Commander Ghassan Alian, and Colonel Yaniv Asor. According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), the website has close ties to Iran’s inner military circles – and reflects the views of either the IRGC or the Department of Defense in Tehran. The same site threatened to assassinate the children of Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and former premier Ehud Olmert, after an airstrike two weeks ago.

Headline: 6 Afghan police killed, 8 wounded in two Taliban attacks
Taliban militants have killed six Afghan police officers and wounded eight others in two separate assaults in southern Afghanistan, officials say. At least two police officers were killed and five others injured when a car bomber hit a convoy in the southern province of Helmand, said the provincial governor spokesman, Omar Zwak, on Tuesday. “The incident occurred in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital (of Helmand Province), when the police forces were going to their checkpoints outside of the city,” said Zwak. Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile, four other policemen were killed and three others wounded in a separate attack in Charcheno district on Monday, said Gulab Khan, the head of Criminal Investigation Office in the south-central province of Uruzgan. The attack was purportedly carried out by Taliban militants. However, there has been no claim of responsibility for that assault. Headline: Sudan Signs Six-year Oil Exploration Deal with China
The Sudanese government announced on Thursday that it signed a six-year agreement with the Chinese National Petroleum Company (CNPC) to increase oil production in fields north of Heglig and parts of the disputed border area of Abyei. China is the largest foreign investor in Sudan and the main buyer of its oil. According to Sudan’s minister of oil Makawi Mohammed Awad, the two sides agreed in Beijing to increase oil production in West Kordofan oil fields, especially in blocks 2 and 4 until 2021. The two blocks lie north of Heglig, but block 4 includes parts of Abyei. The oil minister said the agreement opens the door for another one to increase production in block 6 located in Balila in West Kordofan. He further added that this agreement settles CNPC debts owed by the government of Sudan.

Headline: Libya’s kidnapped representative to OPEC released
New clashes erupted on Tuesday between Libyan rival factions fighting for control of the country’s biggest oil port Es Sider, killing several people, both sides said. The fighting came a day after the United Nations said it was seeking a cease-fire to pave the way for a new round of peace talks between rival factions operating two opposing governments, nearly four years after Moammar Gadhafi’s overthrow. Libya’s internationally recognized government under Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni and the elected House of Representatives have been based in the east since a group called Libya Dawn seized Tripoli last summer, set up its own administration and reinstated the old parliament. Forces allied to Thinni conducted air strikes on Tuesday to stop a new advance of fighters allied to the rival government, a spokesman for Thinni’s forces said. “There is an attack from them from all sides on the oil ports,” the spokesman said. “But we’ve stopped them.” The rival force confirmed fighting was taking place. “Our buys are advancing,” said an official of the rival government, adding that five of his troops had died.

Headline: Oil price slump threatens to erode Algeria’s status quo- Violent protests over deteriorating public services have raised fears of more extreme responses.
Last December, hundreds of protesters in Touggourt, a Saharan city 600km southeast of Algiers, demonstrated against the delay in government social handouts. Three men died during violent clashes between protesters and police. While protests over deteriorating public services in the south are common, they are rarely violent. Recent developments have raised fears of more extreme responses, analysts say, as more and more Algerians have started to feel the pinch, with oil prices at their lowest levels in about five years. Recent protests have taken place against the backdrop of Algeria’s government introducing 10 “save-money measures”, including a public-sector hiring freeze and postponement in funding mega-projects, such as railways. Last October, hundreds of officers marched through the streets of a number of Algerian cities, including Khenchela and Oran, demanding better pay and working conditions, along with public housing for their families.

Headline: Russian Parliament Set to Request €4 Trillion in WWII Reparations From Germany
Members of the Russian parliament are creating a task force to estimate the damages inflicted on Russia by Germany during WWII, in a bid to demand financial compensation from the German state almost 70 years after the end of the conflict, Russian daily newspaper Izvestia reported on Tuesday. The initiative is a direct response to trade sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and EU, for its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in March and continuous support of separatist fighters in Eastern Ukraine since, according to Mikhail Degyaterov, an MP from the Liberal Democrat Party of Russia, who has proposed the task force. “Practically, Germany paid nothing to the USSR for its wave of destruction and savagery during the Second World War,” said Degyaterov. “After the Yalta convention the USSR took back some German assets – largely looted furniture, clothes and industrial equipment, as well as some spoils of war – but largely there was no compensation of the war’s economic blow to the USSR,” Degyaterov added.

Headline: Roadside bomb kills four Pakistani troops in northwest
Four Pakistani troops were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in a restive northwestern tribal area Tuesday, officials said. The bomb exploded in the village of Warmagai in Kurram, one of the seven autonomous tribal districts bordering Afghanistan where Islamist militants rose up against the Pakistani state in 2004. “At least four soldiers were martyred when a bomb planted on a roadside hit a security forces convoy,” a senior security official told AFP. Another official confirmed the attack and casualties, and said that immediately after the bombing security forces launched a search operation in which two militants were killed and three others wounded. The vehicle belonged to a bomb-disposal squad whose mission was to travel ahead of a convoy to clear the road, the second official said. Pakistan began a long-awaited push to clear insurgent bases from the North Waziristan tribal district last June after a bloody Taleban attack on Karachi airport finally sank faltering peace talks.

Headline: Seven Killed in Bangladesh After Bombs Thrown at Bus
Opposition activists in Bangladesh trying to enforce a transport boycott threw homemade bombs at a bus early on Tuesday, setting off a fire that engulfed the vehicle and killed 7 people, a fire department officer said. Fire department official Monir Hossain told reporters in the southeastern district of Comilla that 16 people were injured, several of them critically. Dead bodies in body bags were put next to the charred bus, while the injured were transferred to hospital in the capital city, Dhaka. The opposition rejected a general election just over a year ago and stepped up its protests last month in a bid to force Prime Minister Sheik Hasina to step down and hold fresh polls. Supporters of the ruling Awami League Party marched on the streets of Dhaka and protested against the incident. “You have seen that the opposition activists have thrown petrol bombs at a bus last night in Comilla which was coming from Cox’s Bazar that killed seven people and injured many. We condemn this act of opposition,” said Shah Alam Murad, one of the leader of the Awami League Party. Spokesmen for the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were not available for comment. They routinely reject accusations that their activists are responsible for violence.

Headline: Venezuela takes over supermarket chain accused of hoarding
Venezuela said on Tuesday it has temporarily taken over 35 stores belonging to the “Dia a Dia” supermarket chain on charges it squirreled away food to stoke public exasperation over widespread shortages. President Nicolas Maduro has alleged that a greedy business elite is hoarding goods and engineering long queues by closing check-out counters in a bid to sabotage his socialist rule. Opponents scoff at this as a ludicrous smokescreen, while economists have long recommended the government ease strict currency controls to increase imports and shore up flailing domestic production. But Maduro has appeared to double down on the “economic war” theory on the back of deepening shortages of basic goods this year, and on Sunday said an unnamed supermarket chain would be taken over. Venezuela’s head of the National Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, confirmed on Tuesday that the chain was Dia a Dia, which chiefly caters to the government’s traditional base of support in poor neighborhoods and whose name means “Day to Day” in Spanish. “The temporary occupation of all the Dia a Dia supermarket chain has been ordered to protect Venezuelans,” said a red-shirted Cabello, speaking from a storage facility in the company of soldiers and socialist party officials. A handful of armed National Guards were posted in front of at least two Dia a Dia supermarkets in capital Caracas on Tuesday morning. Some shelves inside were barren.

Headline: The Big Lie: 5.6% Unemployment
Here’s something that many Americans — including some of the smartest and most educated among us — don’t know: The official unemployment rate, as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor, is extremely misleading. Right now, we’re hearing much celebrating from the media, the White House and Wall Street about how unemployment is “down” to 5.6%. The cheerleading for this number is deafening. The media loves a comeback story, the White House wants to score political points and Wall Street would like you to stay in the market. None of them will tell you this: If you, a family member or anyone is unemployed and has subsequently given up on finding a job — if you are so hopelessly out of work that you’ve stopped looking over the past four weeks — the Department of Labor doesn’t count you as unemployed. That’s right. While you are as unemployed as one can possibly be, and tragically may never find work again, you are not counted in the figure we see relentlessly in the news — currently 5.6%. Right now, as many as 30 million Americans are either out of work or severely underemployed. Trust me, the vast majority of them aren’t throwing parties to toast “falling” unemployment. There’s another reason why the official rate is misleading. Say you’re an out-of-work engineer or healthcare worker or construction worker or retail manager: If you perform a minimum of one hour of work in a week and are paid at least $20 — maybe someone pays you to mow their lawn — you’re not officially counted as unemployed in the much-reported 5.6%. Few Americans know this. Yet another figure of importance that doesn’t get much press: those working part time but wanting full-time work. If you have a degree in chemistry or math and are working 10 hours part time because it is all you can find — in other words, you are severely underemployed — the government doesn’t count you in the 5.6%. Few Americans know this. There’s no other way to say this. The official unemployment rate, which cruelly overlooks the suffering of the long-term and often permanently unemployed as well as the depressingly underemployed, amounts to a Big Lie.

Right now the oil market is totally focused on finding a bottom for oil prices. However, according to OPEC’s Secretary-General Abdulla al-Badri we’ve already hit bottom. Not only that, but he sees a real possibility that oil prices could explode higher to upwards of $200 per barrel in the future. He’s far from the only one that sees a return of triple-digit oil prices. According to recent comments by the Secretary-General when he was in London, the oil market doesn’t need to look for oil prices to bottom as the market has already bottomed. Instead, he offered quite bullish comments by saying, “Now the prices are around $45-$55, and I think maybe they [have] reached the bottom and we [will] see some rebound very soon.” Normally that type of remark would be just another layer of noise, but this is coming from OPEC’s Secretary-General so it comes with a lot of weight behind it. That said, he’s not saying that OPEC will come in and rescue the oil market by reversing its previous decision to hold steady on production. Instead, he sees the signs that the oil market is self-correcting as oil companies have made deep cuts to spending, which will eventually lead to lower production growth. Further, the rig count in the U.S. is plunging, which is usually a key to a bottom in oil prices. However, in the midst of cutting back as the industry works through the current oversupply the Secretary-General is now warning that the industry is putting future oil supplies at risk by under investing today.

Wars & Rumors of Wars Matthew 24:6 , Revelation 6:3-4 & Revelation 6:8 “ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Prophecy Sign: Weapons of Mass Destruction Zechariah 14:12 “And this shall be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.”
Headline: North Korea: Fighter pilots vow to destroy its enemies in suicide attacks
Pyongyang issued a threat on Monday that North Korea will destroy its enemies with suicide missions conducted by its military pilots. The ultimatum was sent out as North Korean leader Kim Jong-un paid a visit to fighter pilots who were conducting the first combat exercise of 2015, according to state-run Korean Central News Agency. The pilots vowed to “completely destroy the enemies with the most powerful weapons – their commitment to guard the leader with suicide attacks.” Kim urged the air officers to continue their exercises to turn enemy strongholds into infernos, according to the report. The warning comes as tensions between North Korea and the United States have intensified. The US government named the North as being behind a cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment, although Pyongyang has denied it. Kim has said that he is ready to confront the US – even with a nuclear war. “We no longer have an intention to sit down for talks with crazy dogs that openly said they will destroy the socialist system,” Kim was quoted as saying by North Korean state media.

Pestilence & Plagues Luke 21:11 & Revelation 6:8 “And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” (Luke) “So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death (Thanatos in Greek meaning the death of the body whether natural or violent), and by the beasts of the earth” (Revelation)
Headline: Enterovirus- ‘Medical mystery’ still stumps doctors amid outbreak of poliolike paralysis
When 13-year-old Billy Sticklen woke up the morning of Sept. 24, he discovered he couldn’t lift his arms above his chest. Within days his paralysis had progressed to the point where he could only move his hands and feet. Now, with intensive physical therapy, he’s been making steady progress, moving from a wheelchair to a walker, and just days ago to walking with a cane. Researchers once thought they might have an explanation for why this Joplin, Mo., boy and more than 100 other children from across the country have developed this poliolike paralysis since August. But as they collect more evidence, the cause has become less and less certain. “In fact, it’s a medical mystery,” said Mary Anne Jackson, chief of infectious diseases at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Jackson and other doctors at Children’s Mercy were among the first in the nation to recognize that a virus called enterovirus D68, or EV-D68, once considered rare, was causing an outbreak of often severe respiratory illnesses among children last summer. Since August, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has counted more than 1,100 confirmed EV-D68 cases nationwide, almost all among children, many who had a history of asthma. It’s possible that millions of kids with milder symptoms also became ill. “It was the largest outbreak of its type ever reported in the world,” Jackson said. About the same time that EV-D68 was sweeping the nation, poliolike cases started appearing among children, first in Colorado and then in 33 other states. Researchers suspected a link between EV-D68 and the paralysis because there were initial signs that some of the paralyzed children had been exposed to the virus. EV-D68 is a distant cousin of the polio virus.

Apostasy Amos 8:11 & 2 Peter2:1-3 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.” (Amos) “ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” (2 Peter)
Headline: Iceland to build first temple to Norse gods since Viking age
Icelanders will soon be able to publicly worship at a shrine to Thor, Odin and Frigg with construction starting this month on the island’s first major temple to the Norse gods since the Viking age. Worship of the gods in Scandinavia gave way to Christianity around 1,000 years ago but a modern version of Norse paganism has been gaining popularity in Iceland. “I don’t believe anyone believes in a one-eyed man who is riding about on a horse with eight feet,” said Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, high priest of Ásatrúarfélagið, an association that promotes faith in the Norse gods. “We see the stories as poetic metaphors and a manifestation of the forces of nature and human psychology.” Membership in Ásatrúarfélagið has tripled in Iceland in the last decade to 2,400 members last year, out of a total population of 330,000, data from Statistics Iceland showed. The temple will be circular and will be dug 4 metres (13ft) down into a hill overlooking the Icelandic capital Reykjavik, with a dome on top to let in the sunlight.
