The Rebuilt Jewish Temple
“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months” (Revelation 11:1-2).

Benjamin Netanyahu’s record-breaking term as prime minister ended on Sunday night when the Knesset voted to approve the new government formed by Yamina leader Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid. The new government passed at 8:55 with the support of 60 MKs, while 59 opposed it. Ra’am (United Arab List) MK Saeed Alharomi abstained. In the address, Bennett said his government would prevent the nuclearization of Iran and would not permit rocket fire on Israeli citizens from the Gaza Strip. Bennett thanked US President Joe Biden’s administration for its support during the war in Gaza and pledged to maintain bipartisan support in the US. Bennett made a point of starting his address by praising outgoing prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his hard work over the years for the State of Israel and his wife, Sara, for her dedication. Netanyahu deserved credit for his outreach to Ra’am head Mansour Abbas, he said. The new government would take unprecedented steps to reach out to the Arab sector, he vowed. Lapid canceled his planned speech and merely said the behavior of MKs in the outgoing government reminded him, his mother and all citizens of Israel why it was so important to replace them.

Hamas appoints new prime minister in Gaza
Palestinian Authority perturbed about Egypt-Hamas rapprochement
As the new government was being sworn in in Israel, Hamas announced that its new prime minister assumed office in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The new premier, Issam al-Da’alis, succeeded Dr. Mohammed Awad, who resigned after two years in the job. It was not clear why Awad submitted his resignation. The handover ceremony for the Hamas prime minister was held on Sunday. The Hamas announcement came shortly after Egypt decided to call off a meeting of Palestinian factions in Cairo to discuss the formation of a Palestinian unity government. The announcement is likely to intensify tensions between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, which has previously expressed opposition to the formation of a Hamas government in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, The Palestinian Authority is unhappy with the recent rapprochement between Egypt and Hamas, Palestinian sources said on Monday. The PA is also worried about Egypt’s continued support for deposed Fatah leader Mohammed Dahlan, an arch-rival of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the sources said.

Hamas threatens to reignite conflict over Jerusalem flag march
Hamas on Sunday threatened to take military action if the Jerusalem flag march goes ahead on Tuesday as planned, Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Monday. Citing the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, the report said that Hamas conveyed a warning to Israel through Egyptian and United Nations mediators that if the event was not canceled, the Palestinian “resistance” would take actions similar to those it took in May, during “Operation Guardian of the Walls,” when more than 4,000 rockets were fired from Gaza at Israeli population centers. “Instructions were issued to the missile units to prepare,” Hamas reportedly announced, while also calling on all Palestinian factions to hold a “Day of Rage” in “all parts of historic Palestine” on Tuesday, with an emphasis on the Old City of Jerusalem, to “protect” the Al-Aqsa mosque and prevent Jews from entering the Temple Mount complex.

Syria: Missile attack on Hospital, 13 killed including 2 health workers
Turkey tries to use hospital bombing for propaganda
At least 13 people, including two medical staff, have been killed and several wounded in two separate artillery attacks in the northern Syrian town of Afrin controlled by Turkey-backed fighters, activists and an aid group said on Sunday. The first attack struck a residential area, while the second hit a hospital shortly afterwards, civil defence sources told Reuters news agency. Video footage on social media showed casualties amid the ruins of the al-Shifa hospital, which went out of service after the attack. It was not immediately clear who was behind the shelling, which reportedly came from areas where Syrian government troops and Kurdish-led fighters are deployed. The governor of Turkey’s Hatay province, across the border from Afrin, and Turkey’s defence ministry also said the attack killed 13 civilians and injured 27, adding that it involved rocket and artillery shelling of the hospital. The governor’s office blamed the attack on Syrian Kurdish groups. “The shelling targeted several areas of the town and hit the hospital,” Syrian Observatory Director Rami Abdurrahman was quoted as saying by AFP news agency. The artillery fire originated from northern Aleppo province “where militia faithful to Iran and the [Syrian] regime are deployed, near the zones run by Kurdish forces”, he added.

Turkey activates military intervention pact with Palestinians
Ankara has acted to invoke the 2018 security pact that President Tayyip Erdogan signed with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas – on the same lines as Turkey’s intervention in the Libyan conflict. This step, taken on the quiet, was approved by the National Security Council in Ankara last Wednesday, June 9 and published in Turkey’s Official Gazette the next day. The accord provides for Turkey’s “Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy” to train Palestinian security forces: “Short- and long-term projects would be implemented to increase the capabilities of Palestinian law enforcement forces by providing training, consultation and technical assistance.” Also included is an intelligence-sharing clause between Turkey and the Palestinian Authority. The accord goes on to cover another highly sensitive issue: It attaches the Palestinians to the internationally condemned Turkish-Libyan agreement which aimed to illicitly partition eastern Mediterranean waters between the two signatories. This deal was designed as a grab by Ankara and Tripoli of full control of those waters and their energy deposits. Making the Palestinians partners of this “accord” aimed at buttressing their claim to the coastal waters from the Gaza Strip and further north with a view to ousting Israel from its offshore gas and oil projects.

Protests over police abuses continue in Tunisian capital
Violent protests erupted in the streets of Tunisia’s capital again on Saturday night, adding to the pressure on Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi’s government to crack down on police abuses. The clashes occurred in the Sejoumi neighborhood of Tunis and followed protests earlier in the day in the center of the city during which protesters threw chairs and stones at the police who responded by kicking and hitting them with sticks. The release of a video this week of police stripping and beating a young man triggered widespread anger in the country and raised doubts about the credibility of police reforms undertaken after the 2011 revolution. Protests in Sejoumi broke out on Tuesday after a man arrested by police on suspicion of dealing drugs died in custody. The family accused the police of beating him to death. Tunisia’s Interior Ministry has denied the allegation. Human rights activists said police abuses have threatened to undermine the democratic gains made since the overthrow of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali’s repressive regime a decade ago.

In 2020, the world’s nuclear powers have decreased the overall number of nuclear weapons in their possession, but more of them than a year ago are now ready to be fired at short notice, according to a report. At the start of the year, there were around 13,080 nuclear weapons stockpiled by nine nations – the US, Russia, the UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea – which is down from 13,400 a year prior, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) reported on Monday. Yet, at the same time, the number of nukes deployed with operational forces – that is, mounted on missiles or stored where they can be quickly prepared for use – has increased by about 105, reaching 3,825. Russia and the US, the two nations holding most of the world’s nuclear weapons, were predominantly responsible for both changes, SIPRI said. Both have continued to reduce their respective arsenals by retiring outdated warheads, but also prepared for action, adding some 50 weapons each. China remains the third-largest possessor of nuclear weapons in the world, with an estimated stockpile of 350 devices, the report said. France, India, and Pakistan have also declared stockpiles, estimated at 290, 156, and 165 weapons, respectively.

China and Iran: Join Up the Dots
The Free World seems finally to be waking up to the fact that for at least a decade we have been in ‘grey war’ with the new alliance of China, Russia, Iran and N. Korea (CRINK) without openly realising it. The whole is much more than the sum of the parts:
-Sheikh Jarrah, the ostensible cause of the latest conflict in the Middle East, is not so complicated. It is a private rent dispute, caused by squatters and by Palestinian tenants who acquired protected tenancies (not ownership) during the period of Jordanian occupation 1948-1967 when Jordan illegally sequestrated the property rights of Jewish landowners. The Palestinian tenants and squatters are refusing to pay their Israeli landlords rent for properties that have been in undisputed Jewish ownership since the middle of the 19th century….
-The Ayatollahs have, since Iran’s Revolution of 1979, like their proxies, vowed the total destruction of Israel… This goal is also inscribed in the charters of Hamas, Hezbollah and the current Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas….
-This agreement between China and Iran strengthened the hands of both countries to test the resolve of a Biden administration filled with Obama era appointees committed to two of his signature foreign policy errors, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and a dogmatic prioritisation of the so-called “Two State Solution” that is now dead and buried. With people such as Hady Amr, now the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for “Israel-Palestine,” who implausibly Biden sent to “mediate” what cannot be mediated, hope dies. Amr is parti pris: someone who once said that he was “inspired by the Palestinian intifada.” He has in the past wrongly accused Israel of ethnic cleansing and apartheid….
-Obama’s third signature error in foreign policy forms a bridge to the other set of dots to be joined up. Fifteen years ago the many small islands and reefs in the South China Sea which are now PLA bases with runways and ports, were uninhabited, many of them tidally submerged and marked with metal poles (which confer no territorial rights under UNCLOS – the United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea). It was mainly on Obama’s watch that this militarisation proceeded, unchallenged, when it could and should have been nipped in the bud… If the militarisation of the South China Sea is left intact, Communist China’s navy — The Peoples’ Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) — will soon have a second and secure southern approach to Taiwan for the invasion which it has threatened for so long….
-Declaratory PLAN doctrine states that in the event of war it holds at risk US assets from Guam to the far side of Hokkaido: hence US bases in Japan. The PLA has also threatened missile attacks on Australia, where key Five Eyes intelligence assets are situated. PLA planners must be aware that these are red lines as much as an attempt to invade Taiwan. Any such actions would trigger US escalation, as recent speeches by senior USN officers have confirmed. It appears that the Communist Chinese are throwing down a gauntlet to test our resolve….
-But Communist China is not ten feet tall. As the recent failure of the PRC space station suggests, we should not automatically assume technological omnipotence. In any event, equipment does not equal capability. We should also remember, as Sun Tzu’s Art of War and the Thirty Six Stratagems of the Warring States/Three Kingdoms period both observe, that perception of power has a power of its own and that the most elegant defeat is the one incurred by the moral disarmament of the enemy….
-Over recent months, the US Dept. of Defence has been engaged in a series of technical moves of significance…They have not been much remarked… but all can be found in the professional military literature, as they should be if they are to compose a credible deterrent to make Xi Jinping think again and stay his hand….
-Iran…needs little encouragement to attack Israel, especially via its proxies where it can claim “plausible deniability”. The current bout of violence and its sequel suit Xi Jinping’s command group well as a “Dead Cat” tactic: a misdirection so that eyes are off the prime area of interest for the PRC. That area is….the recent illegal occupation of the South China Sea by this untraditional maritime power [and] the “continentalisation” of this sea-space…..
-In short Xi Jinping’s command group must be aware that many windows are closing for it and that time is not on their side unless they can persuade the Free World to self-harm sufficiently that we disarm morally. For this, there is evidence of intent and, unfortunately, of current success….
-Therefore the Free World must not fall for the Dead Cat gambit. We must firmly support Israel, the window of the West in the Middle East, and we must maintain the Abraham Accords as the best road to normalisation in that region. If we ensure that we are all awake but not woke, we thereby can resist cultural subversion and moral disarmament through the PRC Ministry of State Security… ‘make friends for China’ strategy within our body politic. In these ways, the threat posed to us by the most patient, intelligent, malign and formidable enemy that we have faced, can be defeated….

After Inflation Earnings of Americans Have Declined in Every Month of the Biden Presidency
The real earnings of American workers fell for the fifth consecutive month in May as inflation erased all of the month’s wage gains and more. Real average hourly earnings for working Americans fell 0.1 percent in May compared with April, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Thursday show. This decline in real earnings occurred even though average hourly earnings increased as employers scrambled to fill open positions. What happened was that these wage gains were more than offset by the increase of 0.6 percent in the Consumer Price Index. So Americans were paid more but those gains were swamped by inflation. Average weekly real earnings fell as well, dropping to $334.09 from $335.60, even though there was no change in the average hours worked. The wage decline was even more pronounced for workers the government describes as “production and nonsupervisory employees”—in other words, not the bosses. These workers saw a 0.2 percent decline in May because their 0.4 percent wage increase was overwhelmed by the rise in prices. Real average weekly earnings for these employees fell 0.4 percent over the month due to the change in real average hourly earnings combined with a decrease of 0.3 percent in average weekly hours. This was the fifth consecutive month in which inflation-adjusted hourly earnings fell and the fourth in which weekly earnings fell.

Mayors of American cities have yearned for the moment they could usher in a return to normalcy, casting away coronavirus restrictions on bars, restaurants, parties and public gatherings. Yet now, even with reopenings underway across the United States as the pandemic recedes, city leaders must contend with another crisis: a crime wave with no signs of ending. They are cheerleading the return of office workers to downtowns and encouraging tourists to visit, eager to rejuvenate the economy and build public confidence. But they are also frantically trying to quell a surge of homicides, assaults and carjackings that began during the pandemic and has cast a chill over the recovery. In Austin, Texas, for example, 14 people were injured early Saturday morning in a mass shooting as revelers jammed a popular downtown nightlife district. Some city officials have touted progressive strategies focused on community policing in neighborhoods where trust between police officers and residents has frayed. Others have deployed more traditional tactics like increasing surveillance cameras in troubled areas and enforcing curfews in city parks to clear out crowds, as the police did in Washington Square Park in Manhattan in recent days.

Asteroid 2021 LG5 flew past Earth at 0.41 LD
A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 LG5 flew past Earth at a distance of 0.41 LD / 0.00106 AU (158 573 km / 98 533 miles) at 22:19 UTC on June 12, 2021. This is the 65th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 4th so far this month. 2021 LG5 was first observed at Pan-STARRS 1, Haleakala, Hawaii on June 11, one day before its close approach. The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 4.8 and 11 m (15.7 – 36 feet). It flew past us at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 15.83 km/s.
