Headline: Rebels surround Druze village in Syria’s Golan: activists
Israel has relayed messages to Sunni rebel groups operating in the Syrian part of the Golan Heights, warning them against attacking or drawing near the Druze village of Khadr, located near the Israeli border not far from the northern Mount Hermon. The village of Khadr has been surrounded by rebel forces after heavy fighting on Wednesday, mainly between Free Syrian Army and Assad regime forces, AFP reported, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group. Khadr “is now totally surrounded by rebels, who just took a strategic hilltop north of the village,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP. According to Abdel Rahman, the rebels received reinforcement from Quneitra, near the border, but the regime has yet to send reinforcements to the village. “[T]he Druze villagers are standing with the government,” he added. Though there are no reports of casualties in Khadr, the residents are in a panic, and are requesting assistance from fellow Druze across the border in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Knesset plenum on Wednesday that Israel is “following the events closely.” He added: “I have given instructions that all the necessary actions be taken, and I suggest you will suffice with this statement.”

Headline: Hamas rejects unilateral dissolution of Palestinian govt
Hamas said Wednesday it rejected any unilateral dissolution of the Palestinian unity government after senior officials reported that president Mahmoud Abbas announced it would resign. “Hamas rejects any one-sided change in the government without the agreement of all parties,” Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri told AFP. “No one told us anything about any decision to change and no one consulted with us about any change in the unity government. Fatah acted on its own in all regards.”

Headline: Palestinians to submit first file to ICC next week
The Palestinians will next week submit their first file to the International Criminal Court in their bid to open criminal proceedings against Israel, an official said Thursday. The move is part of an increased focus on diplomatic maneuvering and appeals to international bodies by the Palestinians, who have been frustrated by a lack of progress in ending the Israeli occupation and creating their own independent state. The file is to be handed to ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda on June 25, and will detail alleged violations of international law by the Jewish state, Palestinian foreign ministry official Ammar Hijazi told reporters in the West Bank city of Ramallah. On April 1, the Palestinians formally joined the ICC with the goal of trying Israeli leaders for alleged abuses during last summer’s war in the Gaza Strip, and alleged crimes relating to the occupation of the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

Headline: IDF Shoots 2 Terrorists Attacking Jews at Joseph’s Tomb
IDF soldiers on Thursday shot two Arab terrorists taking part in attacks against Jewish visitors to Joseph’s Tomb at Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria, according to Palestinian Authority (PA) security officials. The IDF allows Jews to visit the tomb of the Biblical figure only once a month for Rosh Chodesh, the new month festival, out of security concerns in the hostile city. The entrance of Jews on buses in the dead of night evidently turned into a target for Arab rioters in the pre-dawn nighttime hours of Thursday morning. The Palestinian Arab Ma’an News Agency identified the two terrorists as 23-year-old Iyad Muin Mohammed Kalbuna, who was shot in his left foot, and 24-year-old Mohammed Ghassan Hammad Hashash of the Balata “refugee camp” who was shot in the thigh. Both terrorists were taken to Rafidia Hospital for treatment. The Arab site did not detail how the Arab rioters were attacking the Jewish visitors, although firebombs and rocks have been used at the Tomb in the past against Jews, as riots have become an all too frequent occurrence. According to the 1993 Oslo Accords, Joseph’s Tomb was supposed to remain under full Israeli control.

Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)
Headline: Jordan Fears Imminent ISIS Invasion
Jordan is gearing up for a possible invasion by Islamic terror groups, local media reported Thursday. According to reports, King Abdullah II, on a tour this week of border areas near Iraq and Syria, offered to arm Bedouin tribes living in those areas – on both sides of the border – to fight against Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra, which threaten Jordan from the east and north. Abdullah’s concern has been growing in recent weeks, reports said, over the fact that after 3,000 bombing raids by the US and its allies, ISIS has not been beaten back – and seems only to get stronger. With the organization solidifying its rule in much of Iraq and Syria = and in line with its pledge to expand its “Islamic caliphate” to the entire world, starting with the Muslim countries – Abdullah believes that Jordan is high up on ISIS’s list for an attempted takeover. Meanwhile, Jordan faces another danger from the north. The Al-Nusra group, a fundamentalist organization associated with Al Qaeda, controls much of the area on the other side of the Syrian border. This group, too, has expansionist plans, and the open frontier between Syria and Jordan is almost an open invitation to incursions by the group. During a tour of the border areas on June 15, Abdullah stated that it was Jordan’s obligation “to assist Arab tribes in Iraq and Syria,” hinting that he would rely on the tribes as a first line of defense against incursions by ISIS and Al-Nusra.

Headline: Army on alert along southern front
The Lebanese Army went on high alert Wednesday, bolstering its presence along the southeastern border in anticipation of fallout from intense battles in Syria near Mount Hermon. Residents of Shebaa, a majority-Sunni town near Syria and Israeli-occupied territory, said they could hear the sounds of explosions and gunfire emanating from clashes between the Syrian regime and rebel forces in the southwestern area of Rif Dimashq, specifically in the border village of Beit Jin, which lies 20 kilometers from the Lebanese town. In response, the Lebanese Army increased its presence along the border, concerned that the battles might push Syrians to seek refuge in Lebanon. “Just like we did in northern Bekaa, we have taken all precautionary measures in Shebaa,” said a high-ranking Army source.

Headline: Saudi, Russia sign nuclear deal
Saudi Arabia on Thursday signed six agreements with Russia including the peaceful use of nuclear technology, Al Arabiya News Channel reported. The news comes after Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Konstantin Palace in St. Petersburg on Thursday after arriving in Moscow late Wednesday in an official visit, the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Meanwhile, two sources told Reuters that the oil ministers of Russia and Saudi Arabia plan to discuss a broad cooperation agreement on Thursday at an economic forum in St Petersburg. Saudi Arabia is the top producer in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the world’s top oil exporter, while Russia, which is not an OPEC member, is the second biggest oil supplier to the global markets. One source said the agreement to be discussed between Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi would not be about joint oil production or export strategy.

Headline: Bahrain says seizes explosives meant for use in Saudi Arabia
Bahrain said on Thursday it had seized explosives and bomb-making materials earmarked for use in Bahrain and neighboring Saudi Arabia in what it described as an Iranian attempt to use Bahraini borders as a base for attacking targets in the region. Police chief Major-General Tariq al-Hasan said the methods used to assemble the explosives bore “clear similarities” to those of what he called proxy groups of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp operating in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sunni Muslim-ruled Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, often accuses Iran, a Shi’ite Muslim theocracy, of seeking to subvert the Gulf Arab island monarchy. Iran denies interfering in Bahrain, although it acknowledges it does support opposition groups seeking greater political and economic rights for Bahrain’s Shi’ite community. There was no immediate Iranian comment on Hasan’s statement. On Tuesday, Iran’s foreign ministry had called for political dialogue in Bahrain and said Manama’s “security approach” would not solve the country’s political tensions.

Syria Headline: 33 killed in army and rebel attacks in Damascus
At least 33 people have died in retaliatory attacks by the Syrian army and rebels in areas near and inside the capital, Damascus, state media and activists reported on Wednesday. At least 24 civilians, including five children and 13 women, were killed by rockets fired late Tuesday by Syrian troops at the rebel-held district of Douma in suburban Damascus, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. In retaliation, rebels shelled the central Damascus quarter of Arnus, killing nine people, according to state news agency SANA. The suburban and central areas of Damascus have in recent months seen tit-for-tat attacks by Assad’s troops and rebels fighting to oust him.

Syria Headline: 16 Dead in Airstrikes in Daraa
At least 16 people, among them 13 children, were killed in Syrian government airstrikes on a town in the southern Daraa province on Tuesday, a monitor said, according to AFP. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes hit a center for study of the Koran in the town of Eastern Ghariyah. The Britain-based monitor accused Syria’s government of a “massacre,” saying a woman was also among those killed in the strikes. The group said the toll in the strikes, which hit on Tuesday afternoon, was expected to rise further because a number of those injured were in serious condition. Eastern Ghariyah lies near the eastern edge of Daraa province, not far from the 52nd Brigade base that a rebel alliance seized from the regime a week ago.

Syria Headline: The YPG Campaign for Tel Abyad and Northern ar-Raqqa Province
YPG forces supported by FSA-affiliated rebel forces and U.S.-led coalition airstrikes seized the ISIS-held border crossing of Tel Abyad in northern ar-Raqqa Province on June 15, 2015, in a major victory for Syrian Kurds and the international anti-ISIS coalition. These gains successfully connect the Kurdish cantons of Kobani and Hasakah into one contiguous zone of YPG control along the Turkish border and optimally positioned joint YPG-FSA forces for an eventual advance south towards the ISIS stronghold of ar-Raqqa City. Kurdish forces cooperated with a coalition of Arab tribes, Assyrian paramilitary forces, and FSA-affiliated rebel factions to enable its rapid advance, although sustained accusations of ‘ethnic cleansing’ by the YPG of Arab civilians may disrupt wider coordination with the Syrian opposition. Recent YPG gains will also likely exacerbate tensions between Syrian Kurds, the Turkish government, and the Assad regime in a way which limits the options available to both the YPG and the U.S. in the fight against ISIS in northern and eastern Syria.

Iraq Headline: ISIS kills five policemen near Baiji refinery
ISIS has killed five policemen in a town near Iraq’s biggest refinery, in an attack that may help ease pressure on some of its fighters trapped in the strategically important facility, a security official said Wednesday. The official in a regional security command center said the insurgents mounted the operation at Tal Albu Jarad village as part of a battle for control of Baiji refinery, which has changed hands several times. After receiving reinforcements, ISIS militants recaptured three neighborhoods in the town of Baiji near the refinery, but fresh clashes have erupted there, the security official said.

Iraq Headline: Iraq denies Islamic State claim it shot down fighter plane
Islamic State said on Thursday it had shot down an Iraqi fighter plane north of the city of Ramadi in Anbar Province. It was not immediately possible to independently confirm the claim made on one of Islamic State’s Twitter accounts. A member of an anti-Islamic State Sunni force called Sahwa (Awakening) said an Iraqi jet, a Russian-made Su-25, was seen in crashing in flames after being shot down north of Ramadi. Meanwhile, Iraq’s defense ministry and the U.S. military dismissed a claim by Islamic State on Thursday that it had shot down an Iraqi fighter plane. “The publication of these false stories is part of an unjust psychological war waged by some media outlets supporting terrorism aimed at playing down the heroics of the Iraqi army,” the ministry said on its website.

Headline: PKK-linked PYD’s takeover of Tal Abyad direct threat, says president Erdoğan
A battle to oust ISIS from a key Syrian town just steps from Turkey’s border elicited a new round of allegations about Ankara’s commitment to fighting the network, but it also highlighted the difficult choices Turkey faces in dealing with the notorious militants as the only NATO country that shares a border with the caliphate. In just two weeks, more than 20,000 Syrians fleeing the fighting poured into Turkey as ISIS fighters, on the opposite side of a chain-lined fence, tried to hold their ground. By Tuesday the tide had turned and the black flag that hung menacingly at the Tal Abyad border crossing for roughly a year was torn down and replaced. Kurdish fighters and allied rebels managed to oust the radicals from the town and choke off crucial supply routes to ISIS territory in Syria. Hailed as a victory in the West, it was greeted more soberly in Ankara where the increasing power of Kurdish militias is also viewed as a threat. “This doesn’t bode well,” Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters as the Kurdish fighters advanced. “This leads to a structure that poses a threat to our borders,” he said.

Headline: South Sudan fighting kills 129 children
THE UN children’s agency says at least 129 children were killed – with boys castrated and girls raped – during a government offensive last month in South Sudan. UNICEF said the killings took place over three weeks in May in Unity state as the government battled rebels. Speaking in New York on Wednesday, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake said survivors reported that boys were castrated and left to bleed out, while girls were gang raped and killed. South Sudanese military spokesman, Colonel Philip Aguer on Thursday questioned the credibility of the report, saying it is not in South Sudanese culture to commit such atrocities. He called for full investigations, saying whoever is responsible must face justice.

Headline: Chad says it bombs Boko Haram bases in Nigeria; Nigeria denies it
The Nigerian extremist group Boko Haram crossed into neighboring Niger and attacked two villages, killing 40 people, said a local governor Thursday. The fighters hit the villages of Lamana and Ngoumawa near the Nigerian border in the early hours of the morning, looting stores and burning homes said Yakouba Soumana Goah, the governor of the Diffa region where the attack occurred. He added that the army went in pursuit of the attackers. Meanwhile, Chad’s military said it had carried out air strikes against Boko Haram bases in Nigeria in retaliation for twin suicide bombings in Chad this week that killed at least 34 people, but the announcement was strongly denied by Nigeria. The air raids caused heavy human and material damage to six of the Islamist militants’ bases, Chad’s military said late on Wednesday, without providing further details. Nigerian authorities rejected reports that the attacks had taken place on its soil, saying they were likely instead to have been in neighboring Niger. “The claim that the Chadian military have conducted air strikes against six terrorist camps in Nigeria is not correct,” said military spokesman Major General Chris Olukolade. In recent weeks Nigeria said Boko Haram had been forced out of most of the areas it once controlled in northern Nigeria. A few hours after Chad’s announcement, Boko Haram militants attacked two villages in neighboring Niger’s southern region of Diffa, security sources said.

Two suicide bombers and another blast targeted the headquarters of Yemen’s Shiite rebels in the capital, Sanaa, on Wednesday, killing at least four people and wounding some 60 others, officials said. Earlier Saudi-led airstrikes hit a convoy of civilian vehicles and killed at least 31 people, authorities said. The Health Ministry said in a statement that the casualty figure from the Sanaa attacks on Wednesday night was “preliminary,” as Muslims around the world prepared for the start of the holy month of Ramadan. Ambulances rushed through the streets in northern and central parts of the capital where the offices of the rebels, known as Houthis, are located. Security officials said two suicide attackers drove car bombs into the gates of two buildings before detonating them. They said a third attack targeted a gathering of Houthis in Sanaa’s Green Dome district.

Headline: Eurogroup starts with talk of Greek default
Headline: Greek Banks May Not Open Monday
Christine Lagarde, the director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), warned Thursday (18 June) that she would consider Greece to be default as early as 1 July if it fails to repay the IMF on 30 June.Under IMF rules, she has 30 days to inform the board of any failure by the Greek government to repay the €1.6 billion it owes.
But Lagarde said there would be “no period of grace”. “[Greece] will be in default, it will be in arrears vis-a-vis the IMF on 1 July. But I hope it is not the case, I really do,” she told reporters in Luxembourg. A Greek default to the IMF could also lead the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the EU emergency fund, to reclaim the money it is owned by Greece, warned ESM chief Klaus Regling. The ESM, through its predecessor fund, the EFSF, lent €130.9 million to Greece. A clause in the loan contact with Greece allows the ESM to be “immediately” repaid “with accrued interest”. Such a claim is unlikely, as Greece would not be in a position to pay. A more likely move would be for the ESM to reserve its rights, meaning taking note of the default and maintaining the possibility of reclaiming the money lent to the country. Lagarde and Regling made the comments just before a meeting of eurozone finance ministers in Luxembourg where hopes of progress between Greece and its lenders were feeble. Diplomatic sources told EUobserver no new document was on the Eurogroup table when ministers started their meeting on Thursday (18 June) afternoon. Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis said he would present “ideas … to replace costly discord with effective consensus”. But the president of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, told reporters he did “not have a lot of hope” of progress.

A heart patient from Oman has been confirmed as the first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome [MERS] in Thailand. “From two lab tests we can confirm that the MERS virus has been found,” Public Health Minister Dr. Rajata Rajatanavin told a news conference in Bangkok. The patient is a businessman from Oman, said Rajata, adding that the 75-year-old had traveled to Thailand for medical treatment for a heart condition. A doctor at Bumrungrad International Hospital suspected the man might have MERS because he was from overseas, had a respiratory complaint, and a low fever, officials told VOA News. Fifty-nine other people are being monitored for the virus either at hospitals or homes: passengers who sat two rows in front or behind the Omani man on his flight to Bangkok, health care workers, hotel employees and a taxi driver, according to Thanarath Phalipat, the director of the health ministry’s bureau of epidemiology Four family members of the Omani man, who traveled with him, are quarantined in the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute where the patient is being treated, and he is reported in stable condition at the institute in Nonthaburi, just north of Bangkok, officials told VOA. “We are in a state of containment,” Pasakorn Akarasewi, senior medical officer of the department of disease control told VOA News. “The infection occurred in Oman.”

Headline: Dengue fever outbreak infects thousands in war-torn Yemen
Thousands of people have been diagnosed with dengue fever in southern Yemen, where fighting has raged for months between Shiite rebels and their opponents, international organizations and health officials said Thursday. The top health ministry official in the southern port city of Aden, Al-Khadr Al-Aswar, told The Associated Press that at least 5,000 people have been diagnosed with the mosquito-borne virus. He said mountains of uncollected garbage, sewage and heat have contributed to the spread of the disease. The World Health Organization said last week that at least 3,000 suspected cases have been reported since March in several provinces, including Aden. It said three people died from the disease. The WHO said the last major outbreak, with 1,500 confirmed cases, was in 2011 in the western Hodeida governorate.

Headline: Hundreds of US Marines to be deployed on British warship amid Russia threat
Hundreds of elite troopers will be stationed with British troops on a Royal Navy gunship, as part of a thinly-veiled warning to the Russian president. The move is also designed to be a show of strength to nervous NATO allies across Europe, who are worried they might be the next victims of Putin’s expansionist ambitions. However, embarrassingly for Britain, the Marines may have to turn to other European nations to host their air support because the Royal Navy no longer has an aircraft carrier. Their MV22 Osprey vertical take off craft will be tested aboard the helicopter-carrying assault ship HMS Ocean, to see whether the landing deck is strong enough to withstand the force of it taking off. In previous tests the ship has proved it can operate the Osprey. The Pentagon is being forced to rely on its allies to base Marines in Europe because the intense focus on the Middle East has stretched the resources of even the world’s richest military. The normal force based in the Mediterranean – the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit – has been relocated to the US Central Command in Iraq. Instead the US Marines will be based on British, Spanish, French and Dutch ships.

Godlessness 2 Timothy 3:1-5 & Matthew 24:12 “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold”

Dylann Storm Roof, who reportedly got a new handgun for his 21st birthday in April, was captured in North Carolina Thursday 14 hours after he allegedly shot and killed nine people in a historic black church in downtown Charleston during a Bible study meeting. Charleston Police Chief Gregory Mullen said Roof was “cooperative” when police in Shelby, N.C., acting on a tip, took him into custody 245 miles northwest of Charleston. Roof had been identified as the lone gunman within hours of the bloody attack on the Emanuel AME church around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Asked if authorities believe Roof had acted alone, Mullen said “we don’t have any reason to believe anyone else was involved.” The cold-blooded killer walked into the church and sat with the Bible group for about an hour before pulling out a semi-automatic handgun and firing, reloading, and firing again. Among the dead — three men and six women — was the pastor of the church, 41-year-old Clementa Pinckney, who was also a South Carolina state senator.

Scorching Sun Isaiah30:26 , Revelation 16:8-9 & Revelation 7:16, Malachi 4:1 “Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun will be sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day that the Lord binds up the bruise of His people And heals the stroke of their wound.” (Isaiah 30:26) “Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. 9 And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” (Revelation 16:8-9) “Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat.” ( Revelation 7: 16) “For behold, the day is coming,Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” Says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch” (Malachi 4:1) Prophecy Sign: Drought Jeremiah 50:38 & Isaiah 42:15 “A drought is against her waters, and they will be dried up. For it is the land of carved images, And they are insane with their idols.” (Jeremiah)“I will lay waste the mountains and hills, And dry up all their vegetation; I will make the rivers coastlands, And I will dry up the pools.”(Isaiah)

Drought-stricken California is not the only place draining underground aquifers in the hunt for fresh water. It’s happening across the world, according to two new studies by U.S. researchers released Tuesday. Twenty-one of the world’s 37 largest aquifers — in locations from India and China to the United States and France — have passed their sustainability tipping points, meaning more water is being removed than replaced from these vital underground reservoirs. Thirteen of 37 aquifers fell at rates that put them into the most troubled category. “The situation is quite critical,” said Jay Famiglietti, senior water scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the studies’ principal investigator. And it’s difficult to see it getting better soon. These groundwater reserves take thousands of years to accumulate and only slowly recharge with water from snowmelt and rains. Now, as drilling for water has taken off across the globe, the hidden water reservoirs are being stressed. Underground aquifers supply 35 percent of the water used by humans worldwide. Demand is even greater in times of drought. Rain-starved California is currently tapping aquifers for 60 percent of its water use, up from the usual 40 percent.

Headline: Indonesian volcano Mount Sinabung erupts: Over 10,000 evacuated
More than 10,000 villagers have fled a rumbling volcano in western Indonesia this month, most in recent days after a series of violent eruptions, an official said on Tuesday. Authorities raised the alert status of Mount Sinabung, on Sumatra island, to the highest level at the start of June after detecting a sharp increase in activity. The volcano, which came back to life two years ago after a period of inactivity, erupted violently at the weekend, spewing hot ash and rocks high into the air. Sinabung – which killed 16 people in a fierce eruption last year – was continuing to belch out a thick plume of smoke high into the sky on Tuesday, covering homes far away with a coating of ash. About 7500 residents have been evacuated from their villages following the weekend eruptions, disaster agency official Tri Budiarto told AFP.
