Israeli warplanes have struck 29 targets in the Gaza Strip in response to a rocket barrage from Gaza into Israel, the military has said. Palestinians said missiles hit bases of Gaza’s Hamas rulers and the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, which had fired the rockets. Four more rockets were fired at Israel on Thursday, Israel said. There are no reports of casualties on either side. Militants fired some 60 rockets into Israel since Wednesday, officials say.

Following two days of hostilities between Israel and terrorists in the Gaza Strip, and reports that a ceasefire had been reached, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Thursday that “quiet would be met with quiet” but he added “if provocations continue, we will know how to pound whoever needs to be pounded.” “We do not seek an escalation but we will not resign ourselves to any provocation from the organizations in Gaza,” Ya’alon said. The defense minister sent “a message of strength” to the residents of southern Israel who faced a barrage of rocket fire over the past days asking them to continue their routine, saying that the IDF would continue to defend them. Meanwhile, The Israeli Army denied Thursday that Israel has reached a ceasefire with Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip after a two-day flare-up. An Islamic Jihad leader who said on Thursday that Egypt had brokered a ceasefire agreement between his organization and Israel. “Following intensive Egyptian contacts and efforts, the agreement for calm has been restored in accordance with understandings reached in 2012 in Cairo,” Khaled al-Batsh wrote on Facebook, referring to a truce that ended an eight-day Gaza war two years ago. The IDF noted that while Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, Hamas’s control on the region renders them responsible for preventing escalation and terror activity.

Headline: Two Rockets Hit South of Ashkelon; No One Hurt
Gaza terrorists fired two rockets early Thursday evening at the Hof Ashkelon area, south of the city of Ashkelon on the Mediterranean coast. No one was hurt and no damage was reported. While largely inaccurate, rockets fired from Gaza are meant to terrorize and humiliate Israel’s populace, and send hundreds of thousands of men, women and children scurrying for shelter. The Air Force hit several terror targets in Gaza on Thursday afternoon, following a wave of rocket attacks on southern Israel on Thursday morning. Israel denied Gaza terrorists’ claims that a ceasefire had been successfully negotiated.

Headline: Palestinian leader lashes out at rival, political tensions flare
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accused one of his main rivals, Mohammed Dahlan, of involvement in six murders, hinting that he might also be behind the death of former leader Yasser Arafat. Dahlan, who lives in exile in the Gulf, denied the allegations of his arch foe Abbas, their bitter row now playing out publicly across the Palestinian media and on social media. Once a prominent official in Abbas’s Western-backed Fatah movement, Dahlan was ousted from the group in 2011 following accusations of corruption. He denied the charges and remains a powerful figure on the sidelines, forging ties with numerous Arab leaders and maintaining links with the splintered Fatah. Abbas lashed out at Dahlan, who is regularly cited as a possible future president, during a Fatah meeting earlier this week, with his comments later released to the press. Abbas said an investigation was carried out into Dahlan, for years Fatah’s strongman in the Gaza Strip, during the rule of former president Arafat. “It was found out that six people were killed by orders from Dahlan,” the president said. He added that Arafat had decided not to release the report. The iconic Palestinian leader died in mysterious circumstances in 2004 and many of his supporters are certain he was poisoned. Abbas said he did not have any proof that Dahlan was involved, but he read out several statements in which his 52-year-old rival had allegedly criticized Arafat. “Who killed Yasser Arafat? This is not evidence, but indications that deserve consideration,” said Abbas, who has faced criticism from many Palestinians for pursuing apparently gridlocked peace negotiations with Israel. An angry Dahlan hit back on his Face Book page, saying Abbas’s speech was full of “lies … stupidity and ignorance of the Palestinian reality.” He added that he would also “unveil the lies” surrounding the death of Arafat, calling it “the most important and most dangerous issue of our modern history.”

Israel will have “difficulty” approving the fourth batch of terrorist prisoner releases, a “gesture” meant to promote peace talks, if the Palestinian Authority (PA) doesn’t extend peace talks past their April deadline, warned Israeli government ministers Thursday. 104 terrorist prisoners were promised to be released in stages last July. The final batch is set for March 28. However, the PA has adamantly refused to extend peace talks. PA Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat reported in February that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is only continuing talks in order to free the rest of the terrorists. “As long as we don’t know what is happening — if the talks will be extended — it will be difficult for Israel to approve a move as dramatic as releasing Arab Israelis in the fourth tranche,” said Science Minister Yaakov Perry (Yesh Atid), according to an aide. Past releases have sparked protests in Israel.

British Prime Minister David Cameron will travel to the West Bank city of Bethlehem on Thursday on the second and final day of his visit to Israel, where he will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The two are expected to discuss the state of peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Cameron was also scheduled to meet with former British premier Tony Blair, who now serves as envoy for the Middle East Quartet in the region. Meanwhile, Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas said Thursday that the US had yet to present a framework for a Middle East peace deal, as a deadline ending nine months of negotiations loomed. “Until now, we haven’t received the framework agreement we were promised,” Abbas said at news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. Israel and the Palestinians have been locked in talks that US Secretary of State John Kerry fought hard to kick-start in July after a three-year hiatus, but the negotiations have faltered over key issues. The negotiations are set to end on April 29, by which date Kerry hopes to have put a framework agreement in place so the two sides can extend their negotiations to work towards a final peace deal. “When the framework is presented to us, we’ll give our opinion on it,” Abbas said. “We have never discussed prolonging the negotiations at all, nor was it offered to us.”

Headline: Rage in Jordan grows over judge’s killing
Palestinian human rights groups have started collecting as many eyewitnesses as possible regarding the incident in which a Jordanian judge was shot to death on the Israeli side of the Allenby Bridge crossing Monday. The circumstances of the fatal shooting remain unclear. An atmosphere of rage and anger in Jordan grew over the past two days, even after Israel’s official apology and expression of regret. The Jordanian parliament held two emergency sessions regarding the incident, giving the government a five-day extension to carry out its decisions, mainly to recall the Jordanian ambassador and to release the prisoner Ahmed Akasma, who carried out the 1997 attack at Naharayim, killing seven Israeli schoolchildren. He is serving a life sentence. Jordanian government sources said it will not take any steps until it receives a copy of the report on the investigation by the joint committee set up between the two countries.

Most of the rockets targeting predominantly-Shiite villages in the Bekaa Valley have been claimed by radical Islamist groups, citing Hezbollah’s role in Syria. There are major differences between the Psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel 38 war which shows us they are not the same war. Here are a few major differences. At the current time Israel is still calling for Peace and safety and they have bars, gates, and walls to protect them from the PLO. The told Ezekiel this war will take place when Israel is living in peace and feeling safe. As long as the enemies of Israel listed in the Psalm 83 war are working to wipe out Israel, Israel will never feel safe enough to remove any of the bars, gates, or walls which shows us the Psalm war has to take place first. Another major difference between the Psalm war and Ezekiel war is the nations who attack Israel are different. In the Psalm 83 war you see the nations that border Israel attacking her. The nations listed to attack Israel in the Ezekiel war do not show any of the nations which are listed in the Psalm war. Why? The answer is simple. Israel will already have destroyed the nations who attacked them in the Psalm 83 war and they will make no other to attempt to wipe them out. When the nations listed in the Ezekiel war see what Israel did to their Brothers listed in the Psalm war they in turn will pick up the torch and try to do what the Psalm 83 nations couldn’t do, wipe Israel off the map. How will this Ezekiel 38-39 war end. God tells us that 5/6 of the entire army that attacks Israel will be killed. At the end of the day Israel will have won the Psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel war. In the Psalm 83 war the IDF will have defeated their enemies. In the Ezekiel it will be God who steps in to wipe out all the armies who try to wipe out Israel. The current events you are now witnessing in the Middle East is setting up the scene for both the Psalm war and Ezekiel war.

Russia has signed a preliminary agreement to build at least two more nuclear power plants in the Iranian port city of Bushehr, AFP reported on Wednesday, citing Iran’s official IRNA news agency. The deal was reached during a visit to Tehran on Tuesday by a senior official of Russia’s state atomic energy agency Rosatom, IRNA said. “Iran and Russia reached a preliminary agreement to build at least two new nuclear power plants,” Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted as having said. The two new 1,000 megawatt plants will be constructed alongside the existing power station in Bushehr, which was also built by Russia, Kamalvandi said. Further talks will be held on technical and financial aspects of the project, but a final agreement is expected to be signed “very soon”, he added. Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sought Thursday to mend fences between his mainly-Shiite country and Sunni-dominated Gulf monarchies distrustful of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its support of the Syrian regime. Rouhani, winding up a two-day visit to Oman, said the Islamic republic offered “a hand of fraternity to all the countries of the region.” “Relations with one country should not grow at the expense of another. We want to see the countries of the region live in peace, understanding and friendship,” Rouhani told a business gathering in Muscat. The sultanate maintains strong links with Iran and has played an important role as mediator between Western countries and Tehran. Headline: Violent attacks kill 21 in Iraq
Violent attacks, mainly targeting security forces, killed 21 people and injured seven across Iraq on Thursday, police said. In north Iraq, a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden car at an army base in a village near the city of Mosul, some 400 km north of the capital Baghdad. A soldier was killed and three others wounded. Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces foiled an attempt by al-Qaida militants to storm a police base in south Mosul. The troops shot dead a suicide bomber and blew up his car bomb before he could reach his target. They also captured six other militants who were ready to break into the base. In Iraq’s western province of Anbar, a battalion commander and five soldiers were killed in fierce clashes with gunmen in Albu- Bali, east of the provincial capital city Ramadi, about 110 km west of Baghdad. Three gunmen were also killed. In a separate incident, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive- laden car into an army checkpoint and blew it up on a bridge in the city of Rawa, some 165 km west of Ramadi. The attack killed four soldiers and wounded two others, destroying parts of the bridge. Anbar province has been the scene of fierce clashes that flared up after Iraqi police dismantled an anti-government protest site outside Ramadi in late December last year.

Headline: South Sudan army battles rebels in key oil town
South Sudan’s army on Thursday said it was battling rebels in the strategic oil city of Malakal, the latest clashes in the nearly three-month-long conflict. “There has been fighting between our forces and the rebels in and around Malakal town for the last two days,” army spokesman Philip Aguer told AFP, adding the clashes were sporadic. The fighting comes as regional leaders meet in neighbouring Ethiopia in a renewed push for peace. The northeastern town of Malakal, capital of oil-producing Upper Nile state, has been one of the hardest fought battlegrounds in the conflict, in which thousands have been killed.

Headline: Two die in renewed Turkey protest rallies
Clashes have erupted between anti-government protestors and riot police in several cities in Turkey, killing two people, including a police officer. On Wednesday, one protester died of head injuries during protests in Istanbul as Turkish riot police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse thousands of demonstrators. The protesters had gathered in central part of the city for the funeral of a 15-year old boy who had died from his injuries during an anti-government protest in 2013. A police officer was also reported dead during the Wednesday protests after suffering a heart-stroke while confronting demonstrators in the eastern town of Tunceli, according to local media outlets. Similar demonstrations were also held in the capital Ankara and the city of Izmir.

Headline: Greek unemployment rises to 27.5 percent
Official figures show the unemployment rate in Greece increased to 27.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013 as the economy struggled to emerge from a protracted recession. Thursday’s figures from the statistics agency showed the jobless rate increasing from 27 percent in the third quarter of 2013 and from 26 percent in the same three months of 2012. Greece, a country of about 10 million people, has 1.36 million people out of work, the figures showed. Young people are the most severely affected, with 57 percent of those aged 15-24 jobless. Greece, which has been affected by a financial crisis since late 2009, depends on rescue loans from the International Monetary Fund and other European countries. In return, it has had to impose deep spending cuts and tax increases.

Headline: Stocks hit hard as China worries deflect US data; Dow tumbles 200 pts
U.S. stocks declined on Thursday, after the S&P 500 came less than four points from its record close, as worries mounted China’s economy. Reuters cited banking and industry sources in reporting increasing concerns about the financial health of bloated industries in China have caused many banks to reduce lending in these sectors up to 20 percent. “Since the beginning of March, the action has been poor all around. We’re in a bit of a vacuum, and will probably have to wait until earnings season to get a boost,” said Dan Greenhaus, chief global strategist at BTIG. Market strategists have recently cited the slowdown in China’s economy in January and February as cause for concern, and unease over the ongoing standoff between Russia and Ukraine over the Crimea peninsula.

Headline: US hits ‘provocative’ China move on Philippine ships
The United States on Wednesday accused China of raising tensions by blocking two Philippines vessels as it urged freedom of navigation in the tense South China Sea. The United States, a treaty-bound ally of Manila, said it was “troubled” by Sunday’s incident in which China prevented movement of two ships contracted by the Philippine navy to deliver supplies and troops to the disputed Second Thomas Shoal. “This is a provocative move that raises tensions. Pending resolution of competing claims in the South China Sea, there should be no interference with the efforts of claimants to maintain the status quo,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. The Philippines on Tuesday summoned China’s charge d’affaires, accusing Beijing of a “clear and urgent threat” to Manila’s interests. Headline: Russia deploys 8,500 troops for artillery drills in south
Russia’s Defense Ministry has launched massive artillery drills in the Southern Military District involving some 8,500 troops and a large amount of hardware. It coincides with war games conducted by the country’s Airborne Troops. Artillery units are to be deployed in 10 ranges as part of the training, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. They will demonstrate their tactical, technical and special skills and will carry out more than 50 field maneuvers. “The event involves some 8,500 artillery troops and a large number of rocket artillery systems, military and special hardware, including Grad-M, Uragan and Smersh multiple rocket launchers, Msta-S 152-mm caliber self-propelled howitzers, Nona artillery systems and Rapira 100-mm caliber anti-tank guns,” the statement said. About half of the shooting practice exercises will be carried out at nighttime. The pro-Western parliament in Ukraine has adopted a legislation under which the country would create a 60,000-strong National Guard in an attempt to boost the country’s defenses. The vote comes three days before a referendum in Ukraine’s autonomous Crimea region on whether residents prefer to join Russia or remain as part of Ukraine’s territory under a new pro-Western government. The self-declared government of Ukraine has decided to form the new National Guard by recruiting some activists who were involved in recent pro-Western protests, which led to the ouster of former president, Viktor Yanukovych. Ukraine’s national security chief, Andriy Parubiy, said the Guard would be deployed to “ensure state security, defend the borders, and eliminate terrorist groups.” Meanwhile, as Russia’s stranglehold on Crimea tightens, the Ukrainian province to the north is warning it could make life on the peninsula miserable if the coveted region chooses sides with Moscow in Sunday’s referendum. Pro-Moscow officials in Crimea, who favor secession from Ukraine, have said they will seize all utilities and assets owned by the Kiev-based Ukrainian government if the referendum goes as expected. But Crimea’s electricity, freshwater and natural gas all flows in from the province of Kherson, where leaders warn they will shut everything off if the referendum they say is illegitimate, goes forward.

According to the law group, Abedini was moved over a week ago from Rajai Shahr Prison to a private hospital in Iran where he underwent various tests for a deteriorating medical condition and received nourishment. And although he was promised that he would undergo surgery to address chronic pain in his stomach area – the result of numerous prison beatings – Abedini was sent back to the prison without being treated and doctors giving him nothing more than pain medication.
