Headline: Hundreds clash with IDF forces in ‘Day of Rage’
Palestinians seemed to be adhering to leadership calls to hold a so-called ‘Day of Rage’ against Israel on Friday, as hundreds of West Bank residents staged protests and clashed with Israeli security forces. Violence erupted at the flashpoint Kalandia checkpoint, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, as some 400 Palestinians threw stones and firebombs at IDF troops. The army opened fire at the crowd in response, a spokeswoman said, but did not confirm a hit. In the Shuafat refugee camp, a funeral was held for 38-year-old Ibrahim al-Aqari, the east Jerusalem resident who killed two people and injured a dozen more in a terrorist attack that rattled Jerusalem this week. Bright-green Hamas flags were carried through the terrorist’s impoverished hometown, as residents threw stones and Molotov cocktails at security forces following the ceremony. Torching tires and trash cans, they chanted anti-Israel slogans, prompting Border Police officers to spray tear gas and quell the rising tensions. Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad called on Palestinians to take to the streets of Jerusalem and the West Bank to demonstrate against Israel’s policies at the Aksa Mosque. Near Ramallah, in the Benjamin region of the central West Bank, Palestinians threw stones at security personnel, while demonstrations were held in other areas to the south, near Hebron.

Headline: Second person dies from terror attack at rail station in Jerusalem
Following two incidents of vehicular terror in and around Jerusalem on Wednesday, Palestinians took to Facebook and other online social media to celebrate what they have dubbed the “Car Intifada.” “From Palestine we brought to the world the intifada of stones. Now we are bringing from Palestine the intifada of running over (or trampling),” read a message on one popular Palestinian Facebook page. One Israeli was killed and 13 others wounded when a Palestinian resident of Jerusalem rammed into a group of people waiting at a light rail station on the eastern side of the city around noon on Wednesday. Hours later, another Palestinian motorist slammed into and injured three Israeli soldier on a road south of the capital. Last month, two Israelis, including a three-month-old baby, were killed and many others wounded in another ramming attack at a Jerusalem light rail station. The vehicular attacks are just one part of an escalating campaign of violence in Jerusalem that increasingly angered Jewish residents are blaming on lack of action by the government and police.

Headline: Report: Netanyahu Orders Demolition of Terrorists’ Homes
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered officials to demolish the homes of Arab terrorists residing in Jerusalem who carried out attacks on Israelis, an official told AFP on Friday. “Last night, at a consultation with security officials a number of possible measures to restore calm in Jerusalem were discussed,” the official said on condition of anonymity. “Among those discussed was the sealing or demolition of terrorists’ homes, this was approved,” the official said, adding that implementation of the plan required formal Justice Ministry approval. The report does not specify which terrorists’ homes are due to be demolished. However, it may include the homes of the perpetrators of the three main terror attacks in Jerusalem over the past two weeks: a road rampage which killed a baby and a seminary student, the attempted assassination of Temple Mount rights activist Yehuda Glick, and Wednesday night’s car attack which killed a Border Patrol captain and a teenager.

Headline: Syrian troops clash with gunmen near Golan Heights, Lebanon border
Activists and state media say Syrian troops are battling rebels near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and the Lebanon border. State news agency SANA says government forces have killed “a number of terrorists and wounded many others” in the southwestern village of Beit Jin. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Friday that the fighting left 26 pro-government forces and 14 rebels dead the day before. The area near Mount Hermon along the disputed borders between the three countries has seen weeks of heavy clashes as rebels and the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front have pressed an offensive. Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Lebanese troops prevented Syrians from bringing in 11 wounded people from the Beit Jin area.

Headline: Israel okays Egypt request to deploy more military forces in Sinai
Israel has approved Egypt’s request to deploy two additional infantry battalions and a fleet of attack helicopters to the Sinai Peninsula, Army Radio reported on Thursday.
Since the border area of the Sinai is a demilitarized zone as per the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty, Cairo must procure Jerusalem’s consent to any deployment of additional forces in the area. Meanwhile, a bomb planted in a train killed two Egyptian policemen and wounded 11 other people when it exploded at a station in the Nile Delta province of Menufia late on Wednesday, state television said. Another small bomb exploded about an hour later in a Cairo metro station, wounding three people, the state-run Al-Ahram news portal reported.
Egypt has been reeling from a series of attacks by Islamic extremists against soldiers and police as part of an anti-government Islamist insurgency.

Jordanians have taken to the streets in the capital, Amman, to express solidarity with Palestinians and protest against tensions around the al-Aqsa Mosque compound. About 1,500 protesters attended the demonstration, which had been called by Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood, after the Friday prayers. The demonstrators chanted anti-Israel slogans and carried placards reading, “Hands Off al-Aqsa Mosque,” and “Deport Israeli ambassador from Jordan.” They also called upon the government to revoke the 1994 peace treaty with the Israeli regime.

Headline: Jordan Threatens to Use its Position Against ISIS to ‘Manage” Israel
Jordan has various options to stop unprecedented provocative Israeli measures against holy sites in Jerusalem, former politicians and analysts said Thursday. Jordan and other Muslim states enrolled in the US-led coalition against the extremist Islamic State (IS) can push Washington to put more pressure on Israel to stop its radicalism-igniting assaults on Al Aqsa Mosque, they told The Jordan Times. Jordan has another handy option to deal with Israel’s “stubborn” stance on Jerusalem, citing the Kingdom’s status as a key ally to Washington and its membership in the US-led alliance against the radical IS. “The US, which has succeeded in grouping Islamic states within its coalition against IS, is, ironically, supporting Israel, which is igniting radicalism through its assaults on Islamic sites,” Abu Odeh said. He also said that Jordan and other Islamic member states in the anti-IS alliance should convince Washington that its efforts to eliminate Islamic extremism are “in vain” as long as it is supporting Israel. “In the American discourse and action on extremism, there is much discrepancy.”

Headline: Hezbollah and al-Nusra reach agreement in Qalamoun
According to Lebanese official sources, the Shiite militia of Hezbollah reached an agreement with militants of al-Nusra Front in Qalamoun in southern Syria. Both parties reportedly agreed Wednesday that al-Nusra militants (affiliated with al-Qaeda) would withdraw from the Qalamoun region and retreat to its bases in northern Syria. The Qalamoun region has seem fierce clashes between Hezbollah and al-Nusra in the recent weeks, causing the death and injury of dozens on both sides. A source in the Lebanese government told ARA News, under the condition of anonymity, that Hezbohhal guaranteed the safety of al-Nusra militants while leaving Qalamoun and heading to northern Syria, reassuring them that the Syrian regime is also part of the agreement. “This agreement took place after al-Nusra lost several consecutive battles in Qalamoun, and when the Front’s insurgents leave that area and return to its bases in the north the Assad regime will be more secure from the militants’ attacks in Damascus,” the source said. “Thus Hezbollah’s proposed agreement is mainly aimed to serve the Assad regime in Damascus.”

Syria Headline: Al-Qaida Group Seizes Villages From Syrian Rebels
Al-Qaida-linked fighters captured at least three villages from Western-backed rebels in northwestern Syria on Friday as the militants continued their push to assert control over an area once held by more moderate groups. The Nusra fighters on Friday seized at least three more villages in Idlib — Safuhan, Fatira and Hazareen — and were pushing to take others, according to a local activist who goes by his first name, Alaa al-Deen. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has a network of activists on the ground in Syria, also reported the same advances by the Nusra Front. The capture of the villages may allow the Nusra Front fighters to advance onto the last Idlib strongholds held by the Syrian Revolutionaries Front. It would also pave the way for them to seize more rebel-held areas in the central Syrian province of Hama, said Alaa al-Deen, who did not provide his family name fearing he’d be identified by the militants.

At least 40 people have been killed in clashes between Syrian regime forces and opposition fighters including Al-Qaeda’s local affiliate in the south of the country, a monitor said Friday. The forces were killed Thursday, during fighting in Beit Tima, a majority-Druze region in southeastern Damascus province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
There has been fighting between regime and rebel forces in the region for more than a year, but Thursday’s toll is the highest in a single day since violence began there.

Syria Headline: Assad regime establishes Arab militia to combat Kurds: activists
The Syrian regime called upon the residents of Hasakah province in northeast Syria to join the recently established pro-Assad militia of “al-Maghawir”, by distributing posters and leaflets through proponents working in al-Baath unions and partisan branches. General Mohammad Khadour, military governor of Hasakah province, invited the Arab residents to join the newly formed militia, claiming it will defend the area from extremist rebels. “Joining al-Maghawir is to participate in the efforts to eradicate terrorism in Hasakah and to defend the country’s dignity and land,” Khadour was quoted in one of the posters which appeared across Hasakah city. According to observers, the formation of an Arab militia in the area is meant to fight the Kurds rather than to combat terrorism, especially with the growing power of the Kurdish forces and their gains against militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS). Local sources told ARA News that participants will receive salaries and be treated and reimbursed like soldiers in the army, by joining the national defense centers and army units in the city under the banner of al-Maghawir.

Syria Headline: Fearing U.S. air strikes, Syria asks for Russian S300
The Syrian regime of President Bashar al-Assad feared the rise of Republicans in the U.S. Congress and began preparing for a potential radical shift in U.S. foreign policy towards Syria, statements by the country’s foreign minister revealed on Thursday. Damascus was afraid that the rise of Republicans could mount pressure on President Barack Obama to launch military strikes against the regime army’s installations in Syria and has asked Russia to speed up the delivery of a powerful air defense system, Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said in an interview with Lebanon’s al-Akhbar newspaper. Washington had pledged that air strikes against the Islamist State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) would not target Syria army targets, the foreign minister said. “Do we trust this commitment? For now, we realize that President Barack Obama, for domestic reasons, wants to avoid war with Syria,” he told the newspaper. “But we do not know how Obama will act under mounting pressure, and the pressure will only increase if the Republicans achieve a majority in the U.S. mid-term elections, so we have to prepare ourselves.” The interview was conducted before Tuesday’s U.S. elections, which saw the Republicans regain control of Congress. “This is what we explained bluntly to the Russians, and we asked them to use take advantage of the situation and provide us with advanced weapons,” he said.

Iraq Headline: Anbar province calls for support to fight Islamic State
President Obama is expected to approve a request Friday that would nearly double the number of U.S. troops in Iraq, multiple U.S. sources tell Fox News. The request will send an additional 1,000 American troops in Iraq to advise and assist Iraqi Security Forces. Currently, there are about 1,400 U.S. troops in Iraq. A senior military official says that American military advisory teams will now go to Iraq’s western Anbar province where Islamic State militants have been gaining ground and slaying men, women and children. The White House request comes with a $3.7 billion price tag. Of that, $3.2 billion will go to the Department of Defense while $500 million will go to the State Department. CENTCOM Commander Gen. Lloyd Austin and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel are at the White House Friday briefing a bipartisan congressional group invited by the president. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey hinted at the announcement during an Oct. 30 briefing at the Pentagon.

Iraq Headline: Police general killed as Iraq forces advance in Baiji
A suicide bomber killed a senior Iraqi police officer in Baiji on Friday as security forces regained ground from jihadists in the strategic northern town, officials said. The bomber detonated an explosives-rigged tanker truck at a checkpoint in the Al-Sinai area which officers had said was retaken more than a week before, killing Major General Faisal Ahmed and three other policeman, and wounding six. Three other suicide bombers driving military trucks failed to find targets in the same area. The bombing came after a senior officer told AFP that government forces now hold “more than 70 percent” of the town — including neighbourhoods in the south, east and north — and were battling to capture the rest. An army brigadier general also said that “major progress” has been made in Baiji, and that the Iraqi flag has been raised over important buildings including the police headquarters.

Headline: Jihadists ‘using cruise ships’ to reach Middle East war zones
Would-be jihadists have been travelling on cruise ships to reach conflict areas in the Middle East, Interpol has said. The international police body said some of those trying to join militant groups in Iraq and Syria had used cruise lines to get to countries including Turkey. It said checks to passenger lists should be extended from airlines to cruise operators before the issue became more of a problem. No figures were put on how many militants had travelled in this way. Speaking in Monaco, Interpol’s outgoing chief, Ronald Noble, said countries should conduct checks on all passengers using airports “and, more and more, cruise lines”. The Turkish authorities say they have deported hundreds of suspected foreign jihadists in recent months after detaining them at airports and bus stations. Interpol’s director of counterterrorism, Pierre St Hilaire, told AP news agency that this had led prospective fighters to make alternative travel arrangements in an effort to avoid detection.

Headline: Merkel: ‘grave concern’ on new Russian tanks in Ukraine
A column of 32 tanks and 30 trucks has crossed into eastern Ukraine from Russia, the Ukrainian government says. The trucks were carrying ammunition and fighters, said a military spokesman, but the BBC cannot confirm his report. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since 5 September, although hundreds of people have been killed since then. More than 4,000 people have died since fighting erupted in April after pro-Russian separatists seized control in the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. The European OSCE monitoring mission has warned that the “bloodletting” is still going on, with numerous incidents of shelling. Heavy artillery fire was reported in Donetsk city on Friday, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency. Fears of a return to full-scale conflict were raised after the separatists held elections on Sunday in defiance of Ukraine’s government and Western countries. If the cross-border incursion is confirmed, it will be a further blow to the shaky ceasefire agreed in September, says the BBC’s David Stern in Kiev.

Headline: Lawmakers slam Obama’s ‘outrageous’ letter to Ayatollah
Susan Rice, President Barack Obama’s national security advisor, made clear on Friday that the United States is not engaged in military coordination with Iran in countering the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Middle East, Reuters reported. Rice, at a White House briefing, responded to a report that Obama had written a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei about Islamic State by saying, “We are in no way engaged in any coordination – military coordination – with Iran on countering ISIS.” According to Thursday’s report in the Wall Street Journal, Obama told Khamenei in the letter that cooperation on ISIS depends on an agreement being reached by the November 24 deadline regarding Iran’s nuclear program, which Israel has warned aims to build nuclear weapons. This is in fact the fourth time Obama has written Khamenei since taking office in 2009. White House spokesman John Earnest later refused to comment about whether Obama had indeed written such a letter, and would only reiterate that Washington’s policy toward Iran has not changed. “I’m not in a position to discuss private correspondence between the president and any world leader,” he said at a White House briefing.

Headline: Libyan rebels threaten to declare independence over rival parliament
Libyan rebels who have seized oil ports in the past to press their demand for regional autonomy said on Friday they would declare independence in the east if the world recognized a rival parliament, heightening tensions in the major oil producer. The actions of rebel leader Ibrahim Jathran are closely watched by oil markets. He and his followers once seized four major oil ports in eastern Libya, accounting for 600,000 barrels of oil, and held them for almost a year. Jathran signed a deal with the government in April to reopen the oil ports and toned down his rhetoric. But now he has ramped it up considerably – he is not known to have threatened to break Libya up into separate states Libya is already effectively divided and turning into a security nightmare for its Arab neighbors and Western powers. Armed groups and Islamist militants who helped toppled Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 are fighting for power and a share of oil revenue.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday launched yet another verbal attack on Israel, this time over its actions on the Temple Mount. According to the Today’s Zaman newspaper, Erdogan slammed Israel over its “raid” on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and vowed to take the issue to the UN Security Council. Addressing reporters ahead of a visit to Turkmenistan, Erdogan called Israel’s actions barbaric and said Turkey will not remain silent. He further claimed that ulterior motives were behind the Israeli raid, saying that whenever the international community pays attention to other parts of the world — referring to recent conflicts in the Syrian cities of Kobani and Aleppo — a crisis like the one at the Al-Aqsa mosque breaks out. “I hope the Israeli government deals with this issue immediately and the Al-Aqsa mosque is opened to all Muslims soon, or Israel will be left alone in the world like it is now in the [Middle East],” Erdogan threatened, according to Today’s Zaman.

Headline: Turkey sounds alarm on Syria’s, Hezbollah’s gains in Aleppo
Turkey has warned that the regime of President Bashar Assad could recapture Syria’s second largest city. Officials said the Syrian Army and Hizbullah were making steady progress in their siege of Aleppo. They said the regime could be aiming to drive Sunni rebels out of Aleppo over the next few weeks through a ground invasion. “We are watching the developments in Aleppo with concern,” Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said. “Though the city is not on the verge of falling, it is under extreme pressure.” Officials said Turkey has been debating measures to save Aleppo from a massive onslaught by Assad and his Iranian allies. They said Ankara could support a truce that might result in the withdrawal of most of the estimated 10,000 rebels from the city. “If Aleppo were to fall, we in Turkey would really be confronted with a large, very serious, worrisome refugee crisis,” Davutoglu said. “This is why we want a safe zone.”

Twenty-one civilians were killed after Boko Haram fighters clashed with troops in the restive northeast of Nigeria, a local lawmaker said on Thursday. The fighting erupted at about 5:00 pm (1600 GMT) on Wednesday in Malam Fatori, a commercial hub known for fishing and farming in the remote north of Borno state near the border with Niger. “Boko Haram tried to attack Malam Fatori… but they met stiff resistance from the Multi-National Joint Task Force who initially repelled the attack after prolonged fighting,” said senator Maina Maaji Lawan. “They pushed back the insurgents and people in the town and the soldiers thought it was over but the insurgents mobilised more men and weapons including an APC (armoured personnel carrier) and launched a renewed attack. “They overpowered the soldiers who were forced to flee. The insurgents went into the town shooting indiscriminately. They killed 21 people.” Local residents put the civilian death toll at 16 and claimed that dozens of militants were killed in the initial military response on the ground and from the air. Luke 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” Luke21:25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring”
Headline: Earthquake swarm near Lakeview: ‘Slight’ increase in likelihood of larger quake, scientists say
Seismologists in Nevada, Oregon and California continue to monitor an intense swarm of earthquakes about 40 miles southeast of Lakeview, Oregon, in the Nevada desert. The magnitude 4.6 temblor late Tuesday night was followed by several quakes or magnitude 3 or greater, officials said. The area is so remote only four people reported feeling Tuesday’s earthquake. Scientists with the Oregon Department of Geology & Mineral Industries said there have been earthquakes of magnitude 4 or greater in the same area in the past week, and 42 quakes greater than magnitude 3 in the past three months. Officials say all told, there have been 719 earthquakes in the area, mostly magnitude 2 to 3, since mid-July. Does the swarm of earthquakes signal that a larger, more damaging quake is in the offing? Using historic data as a model, DOGAMI scientists said the swarm of quakes does slightly increase the likelihood of a larger earthquake. Earthquakes can happen anytime,” Oregon state Geologist Vicki S. McConnell said. “Planning and preparing now helps you be ready.”
