A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Peru  March 15, 2014.  The epicenter of the quake was located 53 miles (85 km)northwest of Arequipa, Peru, at a depth of about 52 miles (84 km), according to the USGS. A potent threat of major earthquake off California’s northern coast

If a 9.0 earthquake were to strike along California’s sparsely populated North Coast, it would have a catastrophic ripple effect. A giant tsunami created by the quake would wash away coastal towns, destroy U.S. 101 and cause $70 billion in damage over a large swath of the Pacific coast. More than 100 bridges would be lost, power lines toppled and coastal towns isolated. Residents would have as few as 15 minutes notice to flee to higher ground, and as many as 10,000 would perish. Scientists last year published this grim scenario for a massive rupture along the Cascadia fault system, which runs 700 miles off shore from Northern California to Vancouver Island.

Direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel began on July 29, 2013. In December 2013, on a visit to Israel, Secretary Kerry promised that he and President Obama were committed to pursuing recognition of Israel as a “Jewish state” in a final agreement with the Palestinian Authority:

And I join with President Obama in expressing to the people of Israel our deep, deep commitment to the security of Israel and to the need to find a peace that recognizes Israel as a Jewish state, recognizes Israel as a country that can defend itself by itself, and that is an important principle with which the prime minister and the President and I are in agreement.”

What exactly do YOU think will happen to America now?

Before we go onto the latest salvo of rocket fire, take a look at the big picture of the Psalm 83 War:

To start at the beginning:

Egypt:  Protests and citizen anger at the running of their country leads to President Mubarak stepping down in February 2011. On June 30, 2012 Mohamed Morsi was inaugurated as the 5^th president, only to be deposed by a coup on July 2013.

Syria:  Protests and citizen anger begins on March 15, 2011 with the army firing on protestors in April 2011.  This is an ongoing civil war.

Lebanon: Beginning in February 2011, ongoing protests were seen against the country’s sectarian political system (this is when Hezbollah took over the Lebanese government by appointing Mikati as their Prime Minister. Mikati stepped down in March 2013 and Lebanon has been operating in a deadlock ever since) These protests have descended into secretarian violence with people fighting over pro & anti Syria stances.  It has also become a daily battle in in this country between Hezbollah, Al-Nursa and the Lebanese Army.

3 countries down- 2 to go:

Jordan:  signed a peace treaty with Israel in October 1994.  Lately though there has been much ado about nullifying this treaty.  What is very much bothering Jordan is the Temple Mount.

Nsur’s comments, quoted by state-run Petra news agency, came as Jordan’s parliament voted unanimously Wednesday to expel Israeli Ambassador Daniel Nevo and recall its own envoy. Yet following the fierce reaction to the Knesset discussion across the Arab world, Israel said it would not change its policies on the Temple Mount. Jordan is the custodian of Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem under the 1994 peace accord.

Jordan’s parliament voted unanimously to expel the Israeli ambassador and recall its own envoy on Wednesday, a day after Israeli lawmakers debated a proposal to take over a Jerusalem holy site administered by Jordanians. The vote by acclamation in Jordan’s 150-seat parliament is not binding to the Cabinet, which is keen to maintain diplomatic ties with Israel and, according to an official who spoke anonymously because of the issue’s sensitivity, plans no action before the Knesset debate concludes. Israeli lawmakers have not voted on the issue and it is unlikely to pass as the majority does not want to antagonize Muslims.

Now we see protests over the shooting of a Jordanian judge.  Judge Raed Zeiter, a Palestinian judge from Jordan, who was shot by Israeli soldiers at Allenby Bridge after the man tried to seize a soldier’s gun and then threatened two soldiers with a metal bar

Saudi Arabia:  Israel and Saudi Arabia do not have diplomatic relations. However, both countries are allies of the United States and oppose the expansion of regional influence by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Saudi Arabia has supported Palestinian rights to sovereignty, and called for withdrawal from the Occupied Territories since 1967. In 2005, Saudi Arabia announced the end of its ban on Israeli goods and services, mostly due to its application to the World Trade Organization, where one member country cannot have a total ban on another. Saudi Arabia played an active role in attempting to mend the schism between Fatah and Hamas, most notably when King Abdullah invited the two factions to negotiations in Mecca resulting in the Mecca Agreement of February 7, 2007. The agreement soon failed, but Saudi Arabia has continued to support a national unity government for the Palestinians, and strongly opposed the war in Gaza in early 2009.  You can Google Saudi Arabia and Frank DiMora to see all I’ve said on this topic.

Are you starting to see the big picture?  How the countries are falling apart and being lined up for this coming Prophetical War?  I won’t get into HOW this happened- just that it did.  The Lord God’s Words WILL come to pass- there is no doubt!  Do you think He didn’t see this coming and used it all to proclaim His majesty?  “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:18) The Lord Jesus told his disciples that not one “jot” or “tittle” will pass away from the Law until all is fulfilled. The word translated “jot” (iota in the Greek New Testament) refers to the smallest Hebrew letter (“Yod”), and the word translated “tittle” (keraia in Greek) refers to the “horn,” or smallest stroke of a Hebrew letter. Interestingly, when visiting a Jewish synagogue, you will see them use a YAD (Hebrew: י ) to point to portions of the Torah (the 1^st 5 books of the Bible or Tanakh).  The YOD is the tenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and is thought to have originated with a picture of a hand.

And onto the Palestinians, which includes Hamas who rule Gaza and Islamic Jihad who are currently firing into Israel:

Lebanon to allow citizens to resist Israel‏

Lebanon’s Cabinet approved its policy statement Friday following hours-long deliberations over the disputed resistance clause. The rival groups agreed to mention “the right of Lebanese citizens to resist Israel, repulse its attacks and recover occupied territory” affirming the responsibility of the state to liberate its land.

**** I’m taking reservations for prophecy seminars after the Psalm 83 War begins.  Although we have seen many times Gaza and Israel trade rocket fire, we also KNOW that the Psalm 83 War will come to pass!  With all the other events happening in tandem and those that are coming- April blood moons, the peace talks falling apart, elected officials calling to retake Gaza,  trouble brewing between Abbas & his rival Dahlan- it appears the time is ripe and it is better to be prepared.

Following two days of hostilities between Israel and terrorists in the Gaza Strip, and reports that a ceasefire had been reached, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said Thursday that “quiet would be met with quiet” but he added “if provocations continue, we will know how to pound whoever needs to be pounded.” “We do not seek an escalation but we will not resign ourselves to any provocation from the organizations in Gaza,” Ya’alon said. The defense minister sent “a message of strength” to the residents of southern Israel who faced a barrage of rocket fire over the past days asking them to continue their routine, saying that the IDF would continue to defend them.  Meanwhile, The Israeli Army denied Thursday that Israel has reached a ceasefire with Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip after a two-day flare-up. An Islamic Jihad leader who said on Thursday that Egypt had brokered a ceasefire agreement between his organization and Israel. “Following intensive Egyptian contacts and efforts, the agreement for calm has been restored in accordance with understandings reached in 2012 in Cairo,” Khaled al-Batsh wrote on Facebook, referring to a truce that ended an eight-day Gaza war two years ago. The IDF noted that while Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, Hamas’s control on the region renders them responsible for preventing escalation and terror activity.

Gaza terrorists fired two rockets early Thursday evening at the Hof Ashkelon area, south of the city of Ashkelon on the Mediterranean coast. No one was hurt and no damage was reported. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has accused one of his main rivals, Mohammed Dahlan, of involvement in six murders, hinting that he might also be behind the death of former leader Yasser Arafat. Dahlan, who lives in exile in the Gulf, denied the allegations of his arch foe Abbas, their bitter row now playing out publicly across the Palestinian media and on social media. Once a prominent official in Abbas’s Western-backed Fatah movement, Dahlan was ousted from the group in 2011 following accusations of corruption. He denied the charges and remains a powerful figure on the sidelines, forging ties with numerous Arab leaders and maintaining links with the splintered Fatah. Abbas lashed out at Dahlan, who is regularly cited as a possible future president, during a Fatah meeting earlier this week, with his comments later released to the press. Abbas said an investigation was carried out into Dahlan, for years Fatah’s strongman in the Gaza Strip, during the rule of former president Arafat. “It was found out that six people were killed by orders from Dahlan,” the president said. He added that Arafat had decided not to release the report. The iconic Palestinian leader died in mysterious circumstances in 2004 and many of his supporters are certain he was poisoned. Abbas said he did not have any proof that Dahlan was involved, but he read out several statements in which his 52-year-old rival had allegedly criticized Arafat. “Who killed Yasser Arafat? This is not evidence, but indications that deserve consideration,” said Abbas, who has faced criticism from many Palestinians for pursuing apparently gridlocked peace negotiations with Israel. An angry Dahlan hit back on his Face Book page, saying Abbas’s speech was full of “lies … stupidity and ignorance of the Palestinian reality.” He added that he would also “unveil the lies” surrounding the death of Arafat, calling it “the most important and most dangerous issue of our modern history.”

Israel will have “difficulty” approving the fourth batch of terrorist prisoner releases, a “gesture” meant to promote peace talks, if the Palestinian Authority (PA) doesn’t extend peace talks past their April deadline, warned Israeli government ministers Thursday. 104 terrorist prisoners were promised to be released in stages last July. The final batch is set for March 28. However, the PA has adamantly refused to extend peace talks. PA Chief Negotiator Saeb Erekat reported in February that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is only continuing talks in order to free the rest of the terrorists. “As long as we don’t know what is happening — if the talks will be extended — it will be difficult for Israel to approve a move as dramatic as releasing Arab Israelis in the fourth tranche,” said Science Minister Yaakov Perry (Yesh Atid), according to an aide. The two are expected to discuss the state of peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.  Cameron was also scheduled to meet with former British premier Tony Blair, who now serves as envoy for the Middle East Quartet in the region.  Meanwhile, Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas said Thursday that the US had yet to present a framework for a Middle East peace deal, as a deadline ending nine months of negotiations loomed. “Until now, we haven’t received the framework agreement we were promised,” Abbas said at news conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. Israel and the Palestinians have been locked in talks that US Secretary of State John Kerry fought hard to kick-start in July after a three-year hiatus, but the negotiations have faltered over key issues. The negotiations are set to end on April 29, by which date Kerry hopes to have put a framework agreement in place so the two sides can extend their negotiations to work towards a final peace deal. “When the framework is presented to us, we’ll give our opinion on it,” Abbas said. “We have never discussed prolonging the negotiations at all, nor was it offered to us.”

Headline:  Rage in Jordan grows over judge’s killing

Palestinian human rights groups have started collecting as many eyewitnesses as possible regarding the incident in which a Jordanian judge was shot to death on the Israeli side of the Allenby Bridge crossing Monday. The circumstances of the fatal shooting remain unclear. An atmosphere of rage and anger in Jordan grew over the past two days, even after Israel’s official apology and expression of regret. The Jordanian parliament held two emergency sessions regarding the incident, giving the government a five-day extension to carry out its decisions, mainly to recall the Jordanian ambassador and to release the prisoner Ahmed Akasma, who carried out the 1997 attack at Naharayim, killing seven Israeli schoolchildren. He is serving a life sentence. Jordanian government sources said it will not take any steps until it receives a copy of the report on the investigation by the joint committee set up between the two countries.

The two new 1,000 megawatt plants will be constructed alongside the existing power station in Bushehr, which was also built by Russia, Kamalvandi said. Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sought Thursday to mend fences between his mainly-Shiite country and Sunni-dominated Gulf monarchies distrustful of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its support of the Syrian regime. Headline: Violent attacks kill 21 in Iraq

Violent attacks, mainly targeting security forces, killed 21 people and injured seven across Iraq on Thursday, police said. In north Iraq, a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden car at an army base in a village near the city of Mosul, some 400 km north of the capital Baghdad. A soldier was killed and three others wounded. Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces foiled an attempt by al-Qaida militants to storm a police base in south Mosul. The troops shot dead a suicide bomber and blew up his car bomb before he could reach his target. They also captured six other militants who were ready to break into the base. In Iraq’s western province of Anbar, a battalion commander and five soldiers were killed in fierce clashes with gunmen in Albu- Bali, east of the provincial capital city Ramadi, about 110 km west of Baghdad. Three gunmen were also killed. In a separate incident, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive- laden car into an army checkpoint and blew it up on a bridge in the city of Rawa, some 165 km west of Ramadi. The attack killed four soldiers and wounded two others, destroying parts of the bridge. Anbar province has been the scene of fierce clashes that flared up after Iraqi police dismantled an anti-government protest site outside Ramadi in late December last year.

Headline:  Two die in renewed Turkey protest rallies

Clashes have erupted between anti-government protestors and riot police in several cities in Turkey, killing two people, including a police officer. On Wednesday, one protester died of head injuries during protests in Istanbul as Turkish riot police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse thousands of demonstrators. The protesters had gathered in central part of the city for the funeral of a 15-year old boy who had died from his injuries during an anti-government protest in 2013. A police officer was also reported dead during the Wednesday protests after suffering a heart-stroke while confronting demonstrators in the eastern town of Tunceli, according to local media outlets. Similar demonstrations were also held in the capital Ankara and the city of Izmir.

Official figures show the unemployment rate in Greece increased to 27.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2013 as the economy struggled to emerge from a protracted recession. Thursday’s figures from the statistics agency showed the jobless rate increasing from 27 percent in the third quarter of 2013 and from 26 percent in the same three months of 2012. Greece, a country of about 10 million people, has 1.36 million people out of work, the figures showed. Young people are the most severely affected, with 57 percent of those aged 15-24 jobless. Greece, which has been affected by a financial crisis since late 2009, depends on rescue loans from the International Monetary Fund and other European countries. In return, it has had to impose deep spending cuts and tax increases.

U.S. stocks declined on Thursday, after the S&P 500 came less than four points from its record close, as worries mounted China’s economy. The United States on Wednesday accused China of raising tensions by blocking two Philippines vessels as it urged freedom of navigation in the tense South China Sea. The United States, a treaty-bound ally of Manila, said it was “troubled” by Sunday’s incident in which China prevented movement of two ships contracted by the Philippine navy to deliver supplies and troops to the disputed Second Thomas Shoal. “This is a provocative move that raises tensions. The Philippines on Tuesday summoned China’s charge d’affaires, accusing Beijing of a “clear and urgent threat” to Manila’s interests. Headline:  Russia deploys 8,500 troops for artillery drills in south

Russia’s Defense Ministry has launched massive artillery drills in the Southern Military District involving some 8,500 troops and a large amount of hardware. It coincides with war games conducted by the country’s Airborne Troops. Artillery units are to be deployed in 10 ranges as part of the training, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. They will demonstrate their tactical, technical and special skills and will carry out more than 50 field maneuvers.  “The event involves some 8,500 artillery troops and a large number of rocket artillery systems, military and special hardware, including Grad-M, Uragan and Smersh multiple rocket launchers, Msta-S 152-mm caliber self-propelled howitzers, Nona artillery systems and Rapira 100-mm caliber anti-tank guns,” the statement said. About half of the shooting practice exercises will be carried out at nighttime. The drills are focused on inter-service cooperation between artillery units and motorized, armor, airborne and amphibious troops, the ministry said.  The artillery exercises coincide with large-scale war games by Russian Airborne Troops currently under way in the south and west of the country. On Thursday, some 1,500 airborne troops have been transported to a range in the Rostov Region for a massive simultaneous deployment.  Those drills, involving a total of 4,000 troops, 36 transport aircraft and 500 military vehicles, will continue through Friday.

The pro-Western parliament in Ukraine has adopted a legislation under which the country would create a 60,000-strong National Guard in an attempt to boost the country’s defenses.  The vote comes three days before a referendum in Ukraine’s autonomous Crimea region on whether residents prefer to join Russia or remain as part of Ukraine’s territory under a new pro-Western government. The self-declared government of Ukraine has decided to form the new National Guard by recruiting some activists who were involved in recent pro-Western protests, which led to the ouster of former president, Viktor Yanukovych.   Ukraine’s national security chief, Andriy Parubiy, said the Guard would be deployed to “ensure state security, defend the borders, and eliminate terrorist groups.” Meanwhile, as Russia’s stranglehold on Crimea tightens, the Ukrainian province to the north is warning it could make life on the peninsula miserable if the coveted region chooses sides with Moscow in Sunday’s referendum. Pro-Moscow officials in Crimea, who favor secession from Ukraine, have said they will seize all utilities and assets owned by the Kiev-based Ukrainian government if the referendum goes as expected. But Crimea’s electricity, freshwater and natural gas all flows in from the province of Kherson, where leaders warn they will shut everything off if the referendum they say is illegitimate, goes forward.

U.S. pastor Saeed Abedini was reportedly pinned down and shackled on Wednesday at an Iranian hospital, where he was also denied much needed surgery. “This morning Iranian guards lashed out violently against Pastor Saeed and an elderly relative who had been able to visit him in the hospital. Pastor Saeed was pinned down and shackled. His elderly relative was roughly handled and expelled from the hospital,” the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents Abedini’s wife and two children in the U.S, stated. According to the law group, Abedini was moved over a week ago from Rajai Shahr Prison to a private hospital in Iran where he underwent various tests for a deteriorating medical condition and received nourishment. And although he was promised that he would undergo surgery to address chronic pain in his stomach area – the result of numerous prison beatings – Abedini was sent back to the prison without being treated and doctors giving him nothing more than pain medication.

Students threw rocks at police, who were trying to disperse them with tear gas and water cannon. Protests were also staged in the cities of San Cristobal, Merida and Valencia. The country has been the scene of violent pro- and anti-government demonstrations since mid-February. The unrest has claimed the lives of 22 people so far.

Headline:  Bahrainis demand exit of Saudi forces

Bahraini anti-regime protesters have once again poured onto the streets to demand an end to the Saudi occupation of their country. During the Wednesday protest rally in the country’s northeastern island of Sitra, protesters chanted slogans against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for helping Manama suppress persisting popular protests against the ruling al-Khalifa regime.  Similar demonstrations were also held in the capital Manama as well as the eastern village of Ma’ameer, where regime forces fired bullets to disperse the protesters.  The development comes as March 13 has been designated by Bahraini protesters as the national day of resistance against Saudi Arabia’s military deployment in the Persian Gulf state.

British Prime Minister David Cameron addressed attempts to boycott Israel in his Knesset address Tuesday, and conveyed a clear message: “Britain opposes the boycott against Israel.” “Britain opposes boycotts,” he said. “Whether it is trade unions campaigning for the exclusion of Israelis or universities trying to stifle academic exchange, Israel’s place as a homeland for the Jewish people will never rest on hollow resolutions passed by amateur politicians,” Cameron said. “Delegitimizing the State of Israel is wrong. It’s abhorrent. And together we will defeat it,” he added. Despite Cameron’s declarations of support for the State of Israel, he also condemned Israel’s construction in Judea and Samaria. The “settlements,” as well as the Palestinian Authority (PA)’s ongoing incitement against Israel, are an obstacle for peace, according to Cameron.

Headline:  Bomb Explodes Outside Israeli Embassy in Cairo

A home-made bomb exploded in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing security sources and the website of the local Al-Ahram newspaper. Security sources said the explosion targeted a police car parked near the embassy, rather than the embassy itself. No one was hurt in the explosion, according to the report. In 2011, in the chaos that ensued in Egypt after the ouster of former president Hosni Mubarak, the Israeli embassy came under attack by an angry mob who tore down the barrier around the embassy and broke in, proceeding to light parts of the embassy on fire and throw documents out the windows. Egyptian commandos rescued several security guards who were trapped inside at the last minute, after intervention by President Barack Obama. The building has not been used by the Israeli embassy since that incident.

In the last few moments Islamic Jihad (SEE NEXT STORY) has claimed responsibility for firing the rockets. “We know that 25 rockets were fired in close succession all over the south,” a senior Israeli official told AFP. Of those, at least five were launched at Sderot; the Iron Dome has stopped some of them from making an impact on Israeli soil, according to the latest updates. Within the last ten minutes, the count has been updated to 30 rockets, according to Israeli media. No injuries have been reported. At least of one of the communities near Gaza has been damaged by rocket fire, according to the latest news reports, though it has not been confirmed which one. Residents are being advised to stay in protective shelters until further updates warrant; the Israeli Police has raised the alert level in throughout the Negev in response to the rocket fire. IAF helicopters are patrolling the skies near Gaza now, as “security forces and the IDF are weighing the appropriate response,” according to Walla! News. The rockets are likely retaliation for IAF airstrikes in Gaza on Tuesday, which killed three terrorists. The Jordanian parliament has given an ultimatum: comply with demands to punish Israel by next Tuesday or else it will vote to topple the government. The lower house of Jordan’s parliament, incensed over the shooting death of a Jordanian judge by Israeli soldiers, demanded Wednesday that the government free a soldier who murdered Israeli schoolgirls in 1997. In a non-binding resolution, all 150 members of the lower house said “we demand that the government release Jordanian soldier Ahmad Dakamseh from jail.” Dakamseh had opened fire on a group of Israeli schoolgirls as they visited Baqura, a scenic peninsula on the Jordan River near the Israeli border. He killed seven of the girls and wounded five more, as well as a teacher, and was sentenced to life in prison. “We also demand that the government expel the Israeli ambassador in Amman and recall the Jordanian ambassador in Israel in response to the killing of Jordanian judge Raed Zeiter,” the resolution said. Jihadists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) executed at least 22 people, including 12 rebels, in the north of the country on Tuesday, a monitoring group told the AFP news agency. “ISIS members executed at least 22 persons with firearms or knives, after taking control of Shuyukh outside the town of Jarabulus” in Aleppo province, Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said. Among those killed were “at least 12 armed rebels,” he added. The jihadist ISIS seized Jarabulus, near the northern border with Turkey, from the rebels last month. Since it joined the civil war in Syria, ISIS has been accused of several human rights abuses, including torturing and murdering prisoners, among them children and teenagers, and forcing Druze men to convert to Islam or die. SIS has been targeted by rival rebel groups. In recent weeks, three powerful rebel alliances – among them Islamist groups – have teamed up to fight ISIS, which they have warned is even worse than Bashar Al-Assad’s regime.

He made the comments in a report to the UN Human Rights Council. “The new administration has not made any significant improvement in the promotion and protection of freedom of expression and opinion, despite pledges made by the president during his campaign and after his swearing in,” Ban said in the report, according to Reuters.

Washington’s decision to provide financial aid to the coup-appointed government of Ukraine goes against the US laws, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said, urging American politicians to think about the consequences of supporting the radicals in Kiev. Ukraine’s ousted president, Viktor Yanukovich, said on Tuesday that the US plans to loan $1 billion to the country’s new authorities are illegal. “Indeed, in accordance with the amendments introduced to the 1961 law (Foreign Assistance Act) a few years ago the provision of foreign assistance is prohibited to ‘the government of any country whose duly elected head of government is deposed by military coup or decree.’ The relevant provision is contained in 22 US Code § 8422,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “Thus, by all criteria the provision of funds to the illegitimate [Kiev] regime, which seized power by force, is unlawful and goes beyond the boundaries of the US legal system,” the statement added. The Crimean parliament adopted on Tuesday “declaration of independence” ahead of the scheduled March 16 referendum, in which the residents of the Black Sea peninsula will to choose to remain part of Ukraine or join Russia. “We, the members of the parliament of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the Sevastopol City Council, with regard to the charter of the United Nations and a whole range of other international documents and taking into consideration the confirmation of the status of Kosovo by the United Nations International Court of Justice on July, 22, 2010, which says that unilateral declaration of independence by a part of the country doesn’t violate any international norms, make this decision,” says the text of the declaration, published by Russia TV website. Crimean Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov said Monday that preparations for the the southern Ukrainian region to become part of Russia are already underway. Crimea was flooded with Russian troops following the fall of the government in the capital, Kiev, last month and a referendum to decide whether the region will become part of Russia will take place on March 16. The peninsula will be ready to begin using Russian law within a couple of months of a pro-secession vote, and the local Finance Ministry is already working on a roadmap for switching from the Ukrainian currency, the hryvnia, to the Russian ruble, Aksyonov said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The referendum in Crimea, where ethnic Russians make up about 60 percent of the population, is widely expected to return a favourable result that will pave the way for annexation by Moscow. Aksyonov also promised that Ukrainian would cease to be an official language if Crimea joined Russia. Western nations have said they will not recognize the vote as legitimate. Russia’s leaders are refusing all negotiations with their Ukrainian counterparts, Ukraine’s acting President Oleksandr Turchynov has said. He told AFP news agency that Ukraine would not intervene militarily in Crimea, even though a secession referendum there was a “sham”. Meanwhile interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is travelling to the US to meet President Barack Obama. On Thursday he is due to address the UN Security Council in New York. He said that Sunday’s referendum in Crimea – in which people on the peninsula will decide whether or not to become part of Russia – was “a provocation” that would be boycotted by most people. “The Russian forces don’t intend to hold a referendum, they’re just going to falsify the results,” he said. Capitalizing on the popularity of Apple’s soon-to-be-released techie eyewear, Atheer Labs has created a set of eyeglasses that give users “immersive 3-D,” surrounding them “with information wherever [they] turn and look..” Similar to Google Glass, the Atheer One, as the glasses are dubbed, connects to the web, streams videos, and can act as a virtual calendar and organizer. But in a recent interview with CBS Miami, the company’s founder, Allen Yang, touted the glasses as a new crime fighting tool that will give police eerie Minority Report-like future crime awareness. “In the optimal scenario, [police] can actually get an alert when they’re patrolling on the streets and they can prevent something from happening before even the event happens,” Yang said.
