For Wang, his nanogenerators are the solution to our outlet-tethered mobile existence — an idea he made clear at the chemistry conference. “This development represents a milestone toward producing portable electronics that can be powered by body movements without the use of batteries or electrical outlets.”  Wang’s new device is thousands of times more powerful than previous generations. “If we can sustain the rate of improvement, the nanogenerator may find a broad range of other applications that require more power,” he said.  “Our nanogenerators are poised to change lives in the future,” Wang said. “Their potential is only limited by one’s imagination.”

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday to stop the impending flotilla that is supposed to set sail to the Gaza Strip in May. The Israeli prime minister told the UN Chief that the flotilla is being organized by extreme Islamists that are interested only in provocation.  Prophecy Sign: Matthew 24:7 is also the sign of (pestilences).  Over the past several years we have seen new diseases both in humans and animals.  Today's news reported on another one of these weird diseases.  BEIJING, March 29 (UPI) — Ducks, an important item in Chinese cuisine, have been felled by a new virus threatening Chinese duck farms, agricultural officials in that country say. Last year Chinese farmers noticed their prized birds were producing fewer eggs than usual, and egg production plummeted by as much as 90 percent in some flocks. Ducks were waddling about awkwardly, their coordination hampered, and eating less than usual. Some died within days.  By the end of the year some 4.4 million ducks in the eastern provinces of Fujian, Shandong and Zhejiang, where duck farming is common, had caught the mysterious illness, AAAS ScienceMag.org reported Tuesday. Scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing analyzed the affected animals and discovered an aggressive new flavivirus, a class of viruses that includes those that cause yellow and dengue fevers.  It was the first flavivirus ever identified in ducks."

Here we go again! Recent headline reads, "Highly Contagious AIDS-Like Disease Spreading in China"    "Several Chinese media have recently reported that the Department of Health of Guangdong Province has confirmed that people in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong have fallen ill after being infected with an unknown virus. The patients think they have AIDS, but they test negative for HIV.   Guangdong has organized clinical experts, epidemiologists and psychologists to work together on these cases. The Health Ministry has also selected six provinces with more patients, including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangsu and Guangdong, to conduct epidemiological studies, but there are no results yet, the reports said. In most of the 30 cases investigated by New Express Daily for its March 24 report, people said their relatives and friends are also infected. Most of the 30 patients were infected through sexual contact. Some experts diagnosed them as having AIDS phobia.

However, the disease seems to be highly contagious and can spread by contact via any bodily fluid—through kissing, shared utensils, sweat, and even protected sex. Once infected, the immune system appears to be attacked, which results in a decrease of white blood cells and the body’s ability to defend against infectious disease and foreign materials.

In the past, official health agencies have only conducted HIV tests on these patients and have not checked for other, similarly pathological viruses. With HIV results coming up negative, many patients then stopped taking protective measures with their relatives. Subsequently, all their relatives and friends were infected, many have said.  One infected man told The Epoch Times that the disease is highly infectious and hard to prevent. His wife and two-year-old child both appear to have it. The child has lip and skin blood spots, he said.  A retired officer in his 40’s told The Epoch Times for a previous June 16, 2010 report that he had been infected with a disease with similar symptoms in 2009, at a get-together at a friend’s house. “I thought it was just a cold at the time, so I still participated in all kind of gatherings. Consequently, over 100 of my comrades in the army, relatives and friends were infected by me,” he said.

The countries will be the last to emerge from the dry weather linked to La Nina, a cooling of the Pacific Ocean, and the conditions may linger for two more months, said British Weather Services and Telvent DTN Inc. Wheat may average $8.50 a bushel in Chicago from now to June 30, said Abah Ofon, an agricultural commodity analyst at Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore. That’s 12 percent more than the price today.

Wheat climbed 5 percent yesterday as grain prices soared after U.S. corn stockpiles dropped to 6.52 billion bushels at the beginning of March, the lowest for the date since 2007, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Global food costs climbed to a record in February, the United Nations estimates, contributing to unrest in northern Africa and the Middle East and helping oust leaders in Tunisia and Egypt.

“If it takes another two months, we’re going to be in serious trouble,” said Jim Dale, a senior risk meteorologist at British Weather, in an interview. “Time is of the essence. If you lose time, you’re losing money, quantity and quality.”
