Germany: “Owing to work migration of the 1960s and several waves of political refugees since the 1970s, Islam became a visible religion in Germany. As of 2004, there are 2.6 million Muslims (3.2% of the population). After the Protestant and Roman Catholic confessions, Muslims are now the third largest religious group in the country. The large majority of Muslims in Germany is of Turkish origin (over 90%), followed by smaller groups the former Yugoslavia, Albania, Arab countries, Iran and Afghanistan. Most Muslims live in Berlin and the big cities of former West Germany” (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2006).
According to facts taken from the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia on April 11, 2014 we learned that “Christianity is the largest religion in Germany with roughly 50 million adherents or 62% of the total population, The second largest religion is Islam with 4 million adherents, making up 5% of the country's total population As you can see from 2006 to 2014 the number of Muslims has grown very fast in a short period of time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Germany
The facts in the Wikipedia are very close to what was reported in the February 6, 2014 report entitled: “Germany Aiming to Become More Muslim Friendly”. I quote, “Among other policy initiatives, Maizière says the government plans to change German immigration laws to make it easier for Muslim immigrants to obtain dual-citizenship and thus to maintain religious and cultural links to their countries of origin. Germany's Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière met on January 28 with German Muslim leaders to discuss the next German Islam Conference. Maizière also says he intends to give Muslims more say in setting the agenda of the government's ongoing dialogue with the Islamic umbrella groups that represent the estimated 4.5 million Muslims now living in the country.” http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/4155/germany-muslim-friendly
Information at a site entitled: “Muslim Statistics” on March 9, 2014 gave us the following facts. I quote, “Despite the limitations of the underlying data for Europe, it appears that Germany is home to more than 4 million Muslims – almost as many as North and South America combined. This means that Germany has more Muslims than Lebanon (between 2 million and 3 million) and more than any other country in western Europe. This also puts Germany among the top-10 countries with the largest number of Muslims living as a minority population. While France has a slightly higher percentage of Muslims than Germany, this study finds that it has slightly fewer Muslims overall.1 The United Kingdom is home to fewer than 2 million Muslims, about 3% of its total population.
