Israeli planes hit Gaza in two separate sorties Thursday morning, hours after Palestinians shot three mortar rounds at IDF troops patrolling near the border fence. All three shells exploded near the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip, in the southern Eshkol region. There were no injuries or damage. The Israel Defense Forces said it hit a terror cell near Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip just before noon. There were no reports of injuries. Earlier in the day planes struck a group of people on a three-wheeled vehicle, injuring three, according to Palestinian sources. The army said it had

“intercepted terrorists during their final preparations to launch rockets toward Israel.” It added that it held the Strip’s Hamas rulers responsible for the attack. “This ongoing conflict that we are facing on a daily basis cannot be endured by Israeli civilians,” IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said in a statement. ”It is the IDF’s obligation to operate to the best of its abilities to prevent such malicious terroristic intentions from terrorizing Israeli civilians and assaulting IDF soldiers. We will continue in our activities to deter all threats originating from the Gaza Strip.”

Hamas officials in Gaza said they freed seven imprisoned Fatah members as part of an effort to repair relations with their West Bank rival. "The release of these condemned men comes as part of the prime minister's decisions to strengthen national reconciliation," Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman Islam Shahwan told Middle East Online. "More positive steps will follow." The men were released Wednesday, two days after Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya said that Fatah members who fled Gaza when Islamists seized the region would be allowed to return. Tensions between the two Palestinian groups began during fighting in 2007 that left the Islamist movement in control of Gaza. The two sides have made many attempts to reconcile, MENA reported.

One of the key issues he discussed with both men was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s demand for recognition of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people. Kerry has adopted Netanyahu’s position on this issue and is interested in including such recognition in his

proposed framework agreement, as he has become convinced that without Palestinian recognition of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people, he will find it very hard to get Netanyahu either to agree to conduct negotiations on the basis of the 1967 lines or to demonstrate flexibility on the issue of security arrangements. But Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has told Kerry he

won’t accept such a provision, arguing that it would undermine the rights of Israel’s Arab citizens.

Kerry therefore asked the Jordanian and Saudi monarchs to help him secure Palestinian consent to this provision by promising to back Abbas if he does agree, or at least by promising not to torpedo such a move.

Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Kuwait next week to meet with representatives of the Arab

League’s Arab Peace Initiative committee to discuss the ongoing peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. According to a State Department statement released Wednesday, Kerry will fly to Paris and Kuwait from January 11-15 and update the Arab League “on the ongoing final status negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians, as part of his continued engagement with our Arab League partners on the issue.” The statement came shortly after a Palestinian news outlet reported that the US is exploring the possibility of altering language in the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative to include recognition of Israel as a Jewish State should the country reach a peace deal with the Palestinians. -Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant are left in Aleppo, a Syrian NGO said Wednesday after the fall of ISIL’s headquarters there. “ISIL withdrew from the Inzarat area after clashes with fighters from rebel… brigades, and the post office building was taken over by Islamist rebel fighters” who had been battling ISIL, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. “There are hardly any ISIL members left in the city of Aleppo.” The ISIL headquarters was seized earlier by fighters from several Syrian rebel brigades. “Fighters from several Islamist rebel brigades took control of the children's hospital in the Qadi Askar district, which is the headquarters of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the city,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. ISIL on Tuesday urged its fighters to “crush” other rebel groups in Syria, in an audio message from the group’s spokesman. ISIL’s threat came hours after a rival al-Qaeda group said it has joined forces with other rebel groups in fighting ISIL.

Russia has once again blocked an anti-Assad resolution before the U.N. Security Council, Fox News has learned, in the latest setback ahead of Secretary of State John Kerry's mission abroad to pursue a Syria peace plan. United Nations diplomats tell Fox News that Russia blocked the British-drafted measure condemning Syrian government attacks on the city of Aleppo with Scud missiles and explosive-filled barrels. The attacks have killed more than 700 people. The Russian Mission to the U.N. so far has not responded to a request for comment from Fox News. The U.S. supported the British proposal, but it needed a consensus to pass. This is the second time in a month that Russia has brushed off western efforts to condemn forces loyal to President Bashar Assad for using indiscriminate air assaults on Aleppo, killing and wounding scores of civilians. Russia has been a consistent supporter of Assad, using its U.N. Security Council veto power to block three resolutions on Syria.

Syria on Tuesday started the movement of chemical weapons materials out of the country in a crucial phase of a disarmament program that has been backed internationally. The plan had been earlier delayed due to the internal political conditions and bad weather. The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said on Tuesday that "priority chemical materials" were transported to the port of Latakia and onto a Danish vessel which was now sailing towards international waters.

Under a deal proposed by Russia, Syria agreed to abandon its chemical weapons by June after an August 21 Sarin gas attack. The deal was strongly backed by USA. A December 31 deadline for the removal of the most deadly toxins from Syria was missed due to War, bad weather, bureaucracy and technical issues.

There are major differences between the Psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel 38 war which shows us they are not the same war. Here are a few major differences. At the current time Israel is still calling for Peace and safety and they have bars, gates, and walls to protect them from the PLO. The told Ezekiel this war will take place when Israel is living in peace and feeling safe. As long as the enemies of Israel listed in the Psalm 83 war are working to wipe out Israel, Israel will never feel safe enough to remove any of the bars, gates, or walls which shows us the Psalm war has to take place first. Another major difference between the Psalm war and Ezekiel war is the nations who attack Israel are different. In the Psalm 83 war you see the nations that border Israel attacking her. The nations listed to attack Israel in the Ezekiel war do not show any of the nations which are listed in the Psalm war. Why? The answer is simple. Israel will already have destroyed the nations who attacked them in the Psalm 83 war

and they will make no other to attempt to wipe them out. When the nations listed in the Ezekiel war see what Israel did to their Brothers listed in the Psalm war they in turn will pick up the tor

ch and try to do what the Psalm 83 nations couldn’t do, wipe Israel off the map. How will this Ezekiel 38-39 war end. God tells us that 5/6 of the entire army that attacks Israel will be killed. At the end of the day Israel will have won the Psalm 83 war and the Ezekiel war. In the Psalm 83 war the IDF will have defeated their enemies. In the Ezekiel it will be God who steps in to wipe out all the armies who try to wipe out Israel. The current events you are now witnessing in the Middle East is setting up the scene for both the Psalm war and Ezekiel war.

Centrifuges are machines that purify uranium for use as fuel in atomic power plants, or, if purified to a high level, weapons. "This issue (centrifuges) was among the main factors in stopping the previous technical discussions on Dec. 19-21," a Western diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity. The Iraqi government previously has asked Congress and the White House for permission to buy military aircraft. Iraq signed a contract for 18 F-16 warplanes in 2011 and signed another in 2012 for 18 more. None have been delivered yet.

Clashes continue between South Sudanese government forces and rebels backed by former Vice President Riek Machar. According to South Sudanese military officials, fighting was still taking place on Wednesday for the control of Bor, the capital of Jonglei State. Battle was also underway in the oil-producing state of Upper Nile. Philip Aguer, a South Sudanese army spokesman, has confirmed that clashes were going on near Bor. On Wednesday, a spokesman for the rebels fighting against the government said that there would be no imminent truce unless the government in Juba released 11 detainees accused of planning a coup. Meanwhile, mediators in Juba say the detainees are against deadly clashes for their release and are seeking a political solution to the situation in the country.

The government says the detainees will be released through the procedures of the judicial system.

Greece jobless rate hits record high in October

Official data show Greece’s unemployment rate rose to a new record high in October last year,

highlighting the ravages of a six-year recession. The Greek Statistical Authority, ELSTAT, said on Thursday that the number of jobless grew in October 2013 to a record 27.8 percent from 27.7 percent in the previous month. With more than one in four of the workforce unemployed, a total of 1.038 million people are currently out of work, the agency said. The high unemployment rate is more than double the eurozone’s average of 12.1 percent in the same month. Moreover, people under the age of 25 remain the hardest-hit demographically with their jobless rate at 58 percent, up from 23 percent when the country's recession started six years ago. This is while industrial output fell in November for a fifth consecutive month, dropping by about 30 percent from its peak since 2008.

Poverty level under Obama breaks 50-year record

Fifty years after President Johnson started a $20 trillion taxpayer-funded war on poverty, the overall percentage of impoverished people in the U.S. has declined only slightly and the poor have lost ground under President Obama.

Aides said Mr. Obama doesn’t plan to commemorate the anniversary Wednesday of Johnson’s speech in 1964, which gave rise to Medicaid, Head Start and a broad range of other federal anti-poverty programs. The president’s only public event Tuesday was a plea for Congress to approve extended benefits for the long-term unemployed, another reminder of the persistent economic troubles during Mr. Obama’s five years in office. Although the president often rails against income inequality in America, his policies have had little impact overall on poverty. A record 47 million Americans receive food stamps, about 13 million more than when he took office.

The poverty rate has stood at 15 percent for three consecutive years, the first time that has happened since the mid-1960s. The poverty rate in 1965 was 17.3 percent; it was 12.5 percent in 2007, before the Great Recession. About 50 million Americans live below the poverty line, which the federal government defined in 2012 as an annual income of $23,492 for a family of four.

Amid concern after North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un executed his uncle, Secretary of State John Kerry met in Washington with South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-Se and said there was “not a sliver of daylight” between the two countries. “We will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state,” Kerry said at a joint press appearance with Yun, rejecting a top demand of the communist dynasty. “We remain fully committed to the Defence of the Republic of Korea, including through extended deterrence and putting the full range of US military capabilities in place,” Kerry said, referring to the South by its formal name. “We will continue to modernize our capabilities so that we are prepared to face any threat,” Kerry said. The Pentagon said that the US Army would deploy another 800 soldiers, armored vehicles and tanks starting next month at camps Hovey and Stanley near the demarcation line with the North Korea. The rotational deployment from the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment is part of the US strategic shift toward the Asia-Pacific region “and allows for greater responsiveness to better meet theater operational requirements,” the Pentagon said in a statement. Pentagon spokesman Colonel Steven Warren said that the United States, which already has 28,500 troops in South Korea, would step up its presence through the decision but that the move had “been long planned.”

Two Bay Area women have died so far this year as a result of the H1N1 virus, health departments reported. The Contra Costa County Health Department said on Monday that a 48-year-old woman with underlying conditions has died of the H1N1 virus. The death, which officials said occurred in the past seven days, is the county's first flu-related death this flu season. The woman's city of residence is being withheld by officials at this time. Health officials also report 17 cases of severe flu in Contra

Costa County this season. The Santa Clara County Health Department on Friday also reported its first flu-related death this season — a 41-year-old woman who died of the H1N1 virus on Dec. 23, 2013. Seven other severe flu cases have been reported to date in Santa Clara County.

Marin County says 10 to 20 percent of people who have been tested for flu-like symptoms have tested positive for H1N1. Ten H1N1 cases have been reported there. Seeing an overall spike in flu cases in California and across the country, officials are urging people to get their annual flu shots, the California Department of Public Health recently said. Counties across the state and the nation are reporting an increase in the number of cases, particularly of the H1N1 virus that caused a worldwide pandemic in 2009.

First deadly case of avian flu confirmed in North America

Canadian health officials confirmed the first deadly case of H5N1 avian flu in North America, following the death of a person in western Canada after a trip to China in December. Health Minister Rona Ambrose revealed that the individual was a resident of Alberta who had travelled to Beijing, China. During the press-conference the minister added that the case is

“isolated” and the risk to the general population remains low. “This case is not part of the seasonal flu,” she said. “Avian influenza is not easily transmitted from person to person. It is not the same virus that is currently present in seasonal influenza in Alberta,” said Dr. James Talbot, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. Officials will be contacting everyone who was aboard the same flights with the now deceased individual, but believe that no one is at risk. Alberta has recorded 10 deaths from the H1N1 influenza during the current flu season.

The outbreak, centered on a hospital in a Chicago suburb, has infected 44 people in Illinois over the past year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The bug, known as carbapenem-resistant enterobacteriaceae, bears a rare enzyme that breaks down antibiotics. "This is a huge cluster," said Alex Kallen, a medical officer with the CDC and supervisor for the Illinois outbreak investigation, noting that only 97 cases of the infection have been reported to the agency since 2009. The superbug, which typically lives in the intestines and is part of a large family of bacteria, can be spread via fecal matter. It isn't typically transmitted by casual contact outside hospitals.

Giant Sunspot, Larger Than Earth's Diameter, Appears On Sun

An enormous sunspot, labeled AR1944, slipped into view over the sun's left horizon late on Jan. 1, 2014. The sunspot steadily moved toward the right, along with the rotation of the sun, and now sits almost dead center, as seen in the image above from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. Sunspots are dark areas on the sun's surface that contain complex arrangements of strong magnetic fields that are constantly shifting. The largest dark spot in this configuration is approximately two Earths wide, and the entire sunspot group is some seven Earths across. For comparison, another giant sunspot, five to six Earths across, is shown below from 2005. The image was captured by the European Space Agency and NASA's Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. Sunspots are part of what's known as active regions, which also include regions of the sun's atmosphere, the corona, hovering above the sunspots. Active regions can be the source of some of the sun's great explosions: solar flares that send out giant bursts of light and radiation due to the release of magnetic energy, or coronal mass ejections that send huge clouds of solar material out into space. As the sunspot group continues its journey across the face of the sun, scientists will watch how it changes and evolves to learn more about how these convoluted magnetic fields can cause space weather events that can affect space-borne systems and technological infrastructure on Earth.

The Arab Spring in Prophecy

Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword.

I like to call this “The Arab Spring in Prophecy” because for us it is easy to identify- that’s what the world calls it.

Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom) I have tried to separate it into areas that sweep EAST from the point of North America.

Security forces in Bahrain have attacked anti-regime protesters in a village west of the capital, Manama, wounding two people. The Al Khalifa regime has confirmed the incident, which happened in the village of Marakh on Thursday. There has been no word on the condition of the two wounded men. Also on Thursday, Bahraini regime forces arrested Shia cleric Sayyed Mahmud al-Moussawi after storming his house in Bani Jamrah, a village in the northwest of the country. On Wednesday, the Bahraini regime announced that the so-called national dialog with opposition leaders had been suspended. According to the Bahrain News Agency, the talks were halted after the opposition said in September 2013 that it would not participate in the talks.

The opposition’s decision came after the detention of Khalil al-Marzooq, the spokesman for the al-Wefaq National Islamic Society – Bahrain’s main opposition group.

Fresh anti-government protests held in Thailand

Thousands of anti-

government protesters have gathered in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, in a rally aimed at increasing support for the ouster of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. The “practice” rally on Thursday comes days before the opposition plans to bring the capital to a halt for 19 days starting on January 13 in protest against upcoming elections on February 2. The demonstrators plan to prevent the government from functioning by blocking off major roads and intersections in the capital. They also say they will cut off power and water to state buildings. Tens of thousands of anti-election protesters are to set up large stages and makeshift defensive structures at major intersections in order to cripple the capital. In response to the planned “shutdown,” the government said it would deploy some 15,000 soldiers to Bangkok to secure government buildings and prevent possible violence.
