Headline: Abbas says he seeks to move Arafat shrine to Jerusalem
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that he intends to move the shrine for late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to Jerusalem, the Bethlehem-based Ma’an News Agency reported Sunday. Speaking during a memorial marking 10 years since Arafat’s death in Ramallah, Abbas said Arafat should “remain immortal in the hearts of our people.” Abbas spoke Sunday night at the opening of a museum to Arafat in Ramallah. A memorial to the former Fatah leader was cancelled in Gaza after a series of bombings targeted the homes and vehicles of 15 senior Fatah officials in the Gaza Strip on Friday. The site in Gaza City where the rally was supposed to take place was also targeted. Fatah has held Hamas responsible for the bombings, saying they were aimed at preventing the rally from taking place.

Headline: UN to open ‘internal and independent’ probe into attacks on its Gaza facilities
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced Monday that an “internal and independent” board of inquiry would be established to probe the damage caused to various UN installations in the Gaza Strip over the course of the war this summer, despite Israel’s intense efforts to prevent this line of investigation. The UN Headquarters Board of Inquiry will also investigate instances in which weapons were found in UN facilities in Gaza, Ban said. The board “will review and investigate a number of specific incidents in which death or injuries occurred at, and/or damage was done to United Nations premises,” the announcement said. “The Board will also review and investigate incidents in which weapons were found to be present on United Nations premises. The Secretary-General expects that the Board will enjoy the full cooperation of all parties concerned.”

Headline: Israeli Police up Alert Level After Arab Protests
Headline: Netanyahu invites Israeli-Arab protesters to leave Israel
Israeli police went on heightened alert Sunday following protests across the country over the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old Arab Israeli who appeared in video footage to be retreating from police, as the prime minister vowed a tough response to any further unrest. Thousands of Arabs took to the streets Saturday to protest the shooting, with many hurling rocks and firebombs at police. The protests continued Sunday with a general strike called by Arab Israeli community leaders and demonstrations outside universities and other institutions. The tensions add to those already raging in Jerusalem, where Palestinians from the eastern part of the city have been clashing almost daily with police over access to a disputed holy site. Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police have beefed up security and raised preparedness to its second highest level — the country’s highest since the conclusion of this summer’s 50-day Gaza war. The weekend protests included some marching with Palestinian flags and calling for an uprising.

Headline: Netanyahu summons defense chiefs for emergency meeting to discuss wave of terrorism
A Palestinian stabbed and critically wounded an Israeli soldier near a Tel Aviv train station on Monday, police said, as anti-Israel violence that has raised concern about a new Palestinian uprising in the making reached the country’s business capital. Police said the attacker had stabbed the soldier several times and they arrested a suspect, a Palestinian from the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. They said the assault was apparently politically motivated. “These are difficult days in Israel. Today there was another terrorist attack, on a soldier. We must fight terrorism,” Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Israel’s chief peace negotiator in talks with the Palestinians that collapsed in April, said on Twitter. There was no immediate Palestinian comment.

Headline: Islamic Jihad Claims Gush Etzion Attack
Shocking footage has emerged showing the moment an Islamic Jihad terrorist launched a murderous attack on a group of civilians waiting at a bus stop outside the town of Alon Shvut in Gush Etzion. The video shows how Maher Hamdi al-Hashalmoun first drove his car into the bus stop, knocking over and injuring his victims. Chillingly, the CCTV footage then shows him running up to one of them – identified as a 25-year-old woman – and stabbing her to death as she lay injured on the floor. He then attacks another passerby, who briefly struggles with him as he stabs and slashes with his knife. Finally, a guard from the gate of Alon Shvut runs to the scene and appears to shoot the attacker, who runs away as the guard gives chase. Al-Halshamoun was shot several times in the chest and died of his wounds en route to hospital.

Jordan’s Prime Minister, Abdullah Nsur, on Sunday criticized Israel over its actions on the Temple Mount, but ruled out the possibility that his country would cancel the peace deal with Israel, the Xinhua news agency reported. Severing the deal will cause political, security and military consequences, he said, adding, “This issue is not under discussions at this stage.” If one needs to cancel the peace treaty, there should be an alternative, he added, according to Xinhua. Nsur also said, however, that the ongoing tension over the Al-Aqsa mosque compound is inflicting a “stab wound” on the peace treaty between the two countries. “Israel and Jordan are committed to peace and to respect the peace treaty, but this commitment is not just applicable to one side, it is a commitment by both,” Nsur was quoted by AFP as having told reporters in Amman.

Headline: Lebanon army arrests Syria rebel commander
The Lebanese army on Sunday arrested a Syrian rebel commander who was trying to enter Lebanon using fake documents, a security source told AFP on condition of anonymity.
“The army arrested a commander of the (rebel) Free Syrian Army from the Qalamun area” near Lebanon, the source said. “He was trying to enter Lebanon using a fake Lebanese ID. The vehicle he was travelling in was stopped at a checkpoint in the Wadi Hmeid area” near the Syrian border, he added. Speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity, a military spokesman confirmed the arrest. The official National News Agency identified the Syrian as Colonel Abdullah al-Rifai and said he is a top leader of the rebel military council in Qalamun, Syria. Rebels in the Qalamun region have battled both the Syrian army and Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, which has sent thousands of fighters into Syria to back President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Headline: Egypt jihadists seek reinforcements with IS allegiance
Under increasing pressure from the military, Egypt’s deadliest jihadist group pledged allegiance to the Islamic State organisation in a bid to boost recruitment and bolster its fight against the army, analysts say. Ansar Beit al-Maqdis (Partisans of Jerusalem) has waged an insurgency from its Sinai Peninsula stronghold that has killed scores of Egyptian police and soldiers since the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year. In response, the army has launched a huge operation in Sinai targeting jihadists and last month began building a buffer zone on the border with Gaza to stem the flow of militants and weapons from the strip. The military announces the arrest or killing of alleged militants in Sinai on a near-daily basis, in claims which are not independently verified. “(Ansar Beit al-Maqdis) seems to be looking to internationalise their position, perhaps in response to increasing pressure on the ground from the Egyptian security forces,” said H.A. Hellyer, senior fellow in International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute in London. The group’s announcement is the most significant show of support for IS in the region outside Iraq and Syria, suggesting its influence now rivals that of its once-dominant Al-Qaeda rivals.

Syrian insurgents, including fighters from the Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front, seized a key city and other areas of Syria’s southwestern Deraa province on Sunday after five days of fierce battles, fighters in the area told Reuters. A source close to government forces confirmed the advance and said the army had pulled out of Nawa city. The capture of Nawa and surrounding areas will help the insurgents consolidate control of territory stretching to near the Golan Heights. “Some of the (government) soldiers escaped at night, the rest escaped today,” one insurgent told Reuters. “They left their heavy weapons and their military vehicles behind.” The insurgents also seized the surrounding areas of Sheikh al-Maskin, Tal Hauran and a military headquarters known as the 122 Brigade in the major offensive, the sources said.

Syria Headline: Syria’s Assad Gains Ground in Aleppo
Syrian government forces redoubled an air offensive on the outskirts of Aleppo over the weekend in a bid to sever supply routes of rebels battling to topple President Bashar al-Assad. Warplanes carried out a series of attacks in the al-Jandoul and al-Castello districts of Syria’s second largest city, which is besieged on three sides by Syrian government forces with militants of the self-styled Islamic State holding part of the northeast edge. Backed by Shi’ite fighters recruited from Iran and Afghanistan, the Syrian regime has focused for weeks now on the main rebel supply route into Aleppo that runs through the town of Afrin and then north to the Turkish border crossing at Kilis. The Syrian air force also launched ferocious raids on al-Bab dropping so-called barrel bombs and killing 121 people, mostly civilians, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based pro-opposition monitoring group that relies on activists inside Syria for information.

On Sunday, militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) exploded the mosque of Haj Rashad in the embattled city of Kobane, before withdrawing from its major neighborhoods. Iraq Headline: Iraqi military reach Baiji; Baghdadi’s fate unclear
Iraq Headline: Islamic State confirms top leader injured in U.S. airstrikes
Iraqi military forces reached the center of the northern city of Baiji on Sunday in an effort to break an Islamic State siege of the country’s biggest refinery, triggering fierce clashes with the militants, according to an army colonel and a witness. Separately, contradictory reports emerged over the fate of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi after U.S.-led air strikes against the group in at least two locations in Iraq on Friday night. The United States said it had no information to indicate Baghdadi had been hit. State television cited reports that Baghdadi had been wounded. It gave no further details. The colonel said Iraqi troops entered Baiji, a city of about 200,000 people, from the south and west and took over the al-Tamim neighborhood and city center. Islamic State had placed bombs along roads in Baiji and deployed snipers to keep government forces from advancing.

Headline: Now ISIS wants to introduce its own currency: Plans to bring back solid gold and silver dinar coins announced in Iraqi mosques
ISIS wants to introduce its own currency and plans to bring back solid gold and silver dinar coins, it has emerged. The Middle East terror group apparently wants to introduce its own Islamic currency as part of its attempts to solidify its makeshift caliphate. Militants are said to want to bring back the original dinar, which is an ancient currency from early Islam, and religious figures in Mosul and Iraq’s Nineveh province have apparently announced its return in mosques. The currency known as the dinar, which once consisted purely of gold and silver coins, is today used by a variety of countries, but the coins are created from different materials to the originals. However, the jihadi group is understood to be planning to return to the original gold and silver coins, which were first introduced during the Caliphate of Uthman in 634 CE. Social media is awash with claims that leading religious figures announced the plans during recent prayers in Mosul and Nineveh province. It is believed the terror outfit wants to use the independent currency in areas it controls as part of its war on the West. The currency, which could be introduced within the next few weeks, will involve changing from regular dinars and Lira to golden dinars and silver dirhams. Last month, it emerged that ISIS, which also goes by the name Islamic State, is raking in money at a remarkable rate – earning about $1million a day from black market oil sales alone. The group extracts oil from territory captured across Syria and Iraq, and sells it to smugglers. David Cohen, who leads the Treasury Department’s effort to undermine the Islamic State’s finances, said the extremists also get several million dollars a month from wealthy donors, extortion rackets and other criminal activities, such as robbing banks. In addition, he said the group has taken in at least $20million in ransom payments this year from kidnappings.

Headline: Worst east Ukraine shelling for month; ceasefire looks in doubt
East Ukraine’s rebel stronghold Donetsk was pummeled on Sunday by the heaviest shelling in a month, and the OSCE said it spotted an armored column of troops without insignia in rebel territory that Kiev said proved Moscow had sent reinforcements. A two-month-old ceasefire to end a war that has killed 4,000 people has appeared shakier than ever in the past few days, with each side accusing the other of having violated the terms of the peace plan. Reuters journalists inside Donetsk, who have been there throughout the fighting, said the shelling sounded more intense than at any time since early October. Sunday’s strikes appeared to come from territory held by both government and rebel forces. Ukraine’s military said its standoff with the Russian-backed separatists in the east had intensified in the past week, which saw the rebels swear in new leaders after elections the government says violated the terms of the truce pact.

Headline: Khamenei: The Only Cure for Israel is its Annihilation
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Saturday once again called for Israel’s destruction. Khamenei’s latest provocation came in a series of tweets in which he launched a tirade against the Jewish state and called to arm Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria. “This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated,” read one tweet. “The only means to confront a barbaric regime like #Israel is arming West Bank,” read another tweet by the Supreme Leader. “We’ve seen 100s of times that #Israel doesn’t abide by #peace. They didn’t even tolerate Arafat who cooperated w/them& poisoned him to death,” charged Khamenei in another post, referring to the death of former Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. “#WestBank should be armed just like #Gaza. Friends of Palestine should do their best to arm People in West Bank,” another tweet read. This is certainly not the first time that Khamenei has called for Israel’s destruction. Last month, the Iranian leader accused Israel of having “no limit or boundaries regarding viciousness, cruelty, and trampling underfoot all human standards and ethnics. Crimes, genocide, mass destruction, the killing of children, women and the homeless…they take pride in.” He previously said on Twitter that the Israel government was “the most wicked terrorist” in the world. Khamenei has also called Israel an “illegitimate and bastard regime,” and further called the United States a “smiling enemy” that is not to be trusted. The latest Twitter rant, ironically enough, comes just days after reports indicated that U.S. President Barack Obama had written a letter to Khamenei in which he indicated that cooperation on ISIS depends on an agreement being reached by the November 24 deadline regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

Headline: Fresh clashes erupt in South Sudan despite ceasefire deal
South Sudanese government forces have clashed with rebels in several areas across the country, only two days after both sides agreed to a ceasefire. Fresh fighting erupted in the oil-rich north and in a number of other regions just 48 hours after President Salva Kiir and the rebel leader, Riek Machar, signed a ceasefire deal in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa. Both sides have accused each other of breaching the new ceasefire deal. A military spokesman for the rebels blamed government troops for launching coordinated attacks in the states of Unity, Jonglei and Upper Nile. Lul Ruai Koang said, “The government is entirely responsible for these unnecessary attacks motivated by its desires and attempts to recapture oil fields under our control.” Meanwhile, the South Sudanese army said it repelled an attack that was started by the rebels.

A bomb exploded on Sunday in an eastern Libyan town where a U.N. special envoy was due to meet Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni, but there were no casualties, officials said, according to Reuters news agency. At least one car bomb went off in front of the security headquarters in the eastern city of Shahat, a government official said.“Leon, and a delegation from the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, which he heads, were meeting Libyan PM Abdullah al-Thinni in the eastern Libyan city of Shahat earlier today when they heard an explosion,” Jose Luis Diaz, spokesman for the U.N. Department of Political Affairs, said. Thinni and U.N. envoy Bernadino Leon were due to meet in a different building, and a security official said the blast had been near the venue of a meeting of other government officials. “The U.N. delegation has returned safely to Tunis,” Diaz added in an email. “It’s impossible to say right now who was the intended target. What we can say is that UNSMIL will continue in its efforts to assist the Libyan people in the search for a political solution to the crisis in the country,” Diaz added. Meanwhile, Hassan al-Sghaier, a foreign affairs secretary of state, told the official Lana news agency that the blast is a “terrorist incident,” according to Agence France-Presse.

Headline: Sahara’s Polisario Front threatens new armed struggle against Morocco
The Western Sahara’s Polisario Front independence movement threatened a new armed struggle after Morocco’s king said his country will remain there “until the end of time” in a speech last week. State-run Radio Algerienne cited remarks by Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, the Front’s designated foreign minister, as saying the Sahrawi people “will have no choice but to return to armed struggle”, due to international inaction on the issue and Morocco’s lack of respect for international law. The Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony in north-west Africa, was annexed by Morocco in 1975. The move has not been recognised internationally. A UN-backed process to reach an agreement and referendum on autonomy, semi-autonomy, independence or integration for Sahrawis has remained deadlocked for a decade due to rejections over various concerns by Morocco and the Polisario. The Sahrawi government released a statement the following day saying it “condemns in the strongest manner such an attitude, which is contrary to international legality”, describing the Moroccan king’s statement as a “colonial scheme”. The Polisario Front fought Moroccan troops for a decade and a half until the UN negotiated a ceasefire in 1991. The Western Sahara dispute is the main thorn in relations between Algeria and Morocco, whose common border has been closed for two decades.

Headline: Turkey sets new rules of engagement in Mediterranean showdown with Israel, Cyprus
Turkey has been preparing for a naval confrontation with Greece and Israel in the Mediterranean Sea. Officials said the Turkish Navy has been authorized to stop foreign energy exploration and development in the eastern Mediterranean. They said the navy would operate under new rules of engagement that would protect Ankara’s controversial exploration program near the coast of Cyprus. The Prime Ministry handed over the rules of engagement to the chief of General Staff and the chief of staff handed them over to the Naval Forces Command,” Turkish Navy commander Adm. Bulent Bostanoglu said. “We will act in line with these rules of engagement in the event we face a situation over this issue.” In a briefing on Nov. 9, Bostanoglu stressed that the navy would support Turkey’s claims in the eastern Mediterranean amid energy exploration and development by Israel and the Republic of Cyprus. The commander said warships would secure operations of a Turkish seismic vessel that was conducting an offshore energy survey meant to last until the end of 2014.

Headline: Sheriffs Plan Massive Gathering in Washington to Oppose Executive Amnesty
Sheriffs across the country are planning a massive gathering in Washington, D.C., to speak out against President Obama’s potential executive action on immigration. Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson of Bristol County, Mass., sent a letter to organize a meeting of sheriffs in Washington, D.C., on December 10, two days before the existing government-funding bill expires, to meet with congressmen and encourage them to take action to secure the border. “Never before in our nation’s history has it been so important for the American sheriffs to stand united and speak with one voice to secure our nation’s borders,” Hodgson wrote. “Senator Jeff Sessions, Senator David Vitter and other members of Congress have agreed to join us at the Capitol to demand immediate action to secure our borders as the first step in achieving legitimate immigration reform in the future. Several sheriffs have agreed to work in a spirit of cooperation to assist in recruiting at least 200 sheriffs to travel to Washington, D.C. for this historic meeting and press conference with members of Congress.” The timing of the sheriffs’ meeting with conservative congressmen suggests the congressmen may expect the showdown with President Obama over executive action on immigration will go down to the final days before government funding runs out on December 12.

Headline: 90 Killed as Al-Shabab Takes Somali Island
Witnesses in southern Somalia say more than 90 people were killed in weekend fighting that saw militant group al-Shabab retake a key island in the Lower Juba region. Al-Shabab attacked pro-government forces on Kudhaa island before dawn Saturday, seizing control of it from the Interim Juba Administration (IJA). Residents tell VOA that al-Shabab displayed 43 bodies of IJA fighters on the beach after the fighting and later executed nine IJA members and eight civilians accused of working with the administration. Sources tell VOA that al-Shabab lost 31 men in the fighting, bringing the death toll to 91. Kudhaa, located 130 kilometers southwest of Kismayo, was captured from al-Shabab just two weeks ago by pro-government forces. The militants had used the island to export charcoal, a key source of revenue for the group. Pro-al-Shabab media have reported that the militants seized large quantities of weapons in Saturday’s fighting, including mortars and machine guns.

Headline: Clashes between Houthis, militants in central Yemen kill 20
At least twenty people have been killed in the latest round of clashes between Houthi movement’s Ansarullah fighters and al-Qaeda-linked militants in Yemen’s central province of Bayda. A local resident, identified as Fahd al-Tawil, said Ansarullah fighters of the Shia Houthi movement launched an offensive on Monday to push into an al-Qaeda stronghold outside the town of Rada’, situated about 130 kilometers (85 miles) southeast of the capital, Sana’a. Both sides engaged in a fierce exchange of fire, during which sixteen Ansarullah members and four militants were killed. On November 9, a commander of al-Qaeda-affiliated militants, known as Ali Abdullah al-Ba’ni, turned himself in to Ansarullah after the fighters closed in on the terrorists in the town of Odain, in the southern province of Ibb. The development came two days after Houthi fighters flushed out militants from the town of Khokha in the strategic western province of Hudaydah.

Headline: Catalonia: 1.6mn vote for independent state
Over 1.6 million Catalans voted in favour of independence on Sunday (9 November) in an informal poll. More than 80 percent of the 2 million people that cast a vote in the consultation, answered Yes to both questions: “Do you want Catalonia to be a state? If so, do you want this state to be independent?”. Another 10 percent said they wanted Catalonia to be a state but remain part of Spain, while 4.5 percent voted No to both questions. But the vote was non-binding after Spain’s constitutional court forbade Catalonia to hold a formal referendum. Sunday’s vote was also illicit after the court calls for its suspension pending an analysis on whether it breached the Spanish constitution.

The Coming One world religion Revelation 13:12, Revelation 17:1-6 “And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed” (Rev. 13:12) “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. This title was written on her forehead: mystery Babylon the great the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth. I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus.”(Rev. 17:1-6)
Apostasy Amos 8:11 & 2 Peter2:1-3 Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.” (Amos) “ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.” (2 Peter)

Wars & Rumors of Wars Matthew 24:6 , Revelation 6:3-4 & Revelation 6:8 “ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Headline: South Korea troops fire warning shots at North’s soldiers on border
South Korean troops have fired warning shots at North Korean soldiers who closely approached the heavily-guarded border separating the two countries, officials say. Twenty rounds were fired at a group of about 10 North Korean soldiers inside the Demilitarized Zone, with a width of four kilometers (2.5 miles), on Monday, South Korean officials said on condition of anonymity, adding that the North Korean soldiers retreated without returning fire. There were no reports of casualties on either side. The incident marks the second time South Korean troops fired warning shots at North Korean soldiers this year. North Korean soldiers have been found approaching the border on several occasions.

Headline: Ebola cases in Sierra Leone show sharp rise
Headline: Ebola finds new hotspots outside Liberian capital
The number of new cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone has jumped dramatically, putting paid to any hopes that the infection rate is slowing. Official figures released by the minister of health and sanitation show there were 111 new cases registered on Sunday, the highest daily rate since the ministry started publishing figures in August. There were 45 new cases the day before, including 24 in the capital, Freetown. Laboratory results for patients in Freetown, which include the new British army-built Ebola hospital, showed 40 new cases on Sunday. There was also a spike in the number of cases in Port Loko, a district north of Freetown where there is still no treatment centre and where, until recently, corpses were left lying on verandahs, in hospitals and in houses for days before collection. The figures come days after warnings by the UN that Ebola cases in Sierra Leone are being underreported by up to 50%. It is thought that some patients are still not turning up to hospital over fears that they will be turned away because there are no beds or that they will die isolated from their families.

Headline: Fukushima radiation detected 100 miles off California coast
Traces of radioactivity believed to have come from the 2011 Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant accident were detected 100 miles off the coast of California, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) said Monday. The group found traces of cesium-134, a radioactive element released by the power plant, 100 miles off the coast of Eureka, California. The amount of radioactive chemicals in the water is still below levels that are harmful to humans and is 1,000 times below limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency for drinking water. WHOI predicts contaminant levels could increase over the next two to three years. “We don’t know exactly when the Fukushima isotopes will be detectable closer to shore because the mixing of offshore surface waters and coastal waters is hard to predict,” said Ken Buesseler, the leader of WHOI’s monitoring team, in a statement. “We stand to learn more from samples taken this winter when there is generally less upwelling.”

Headline: Chikungunya Fever Rampant In Puerto Rico
The mosquito-borne disease is rampant now in parts of the Caribbean in Latin America with large numbers of cases reported in Puerto Rico. Dr. Nabil El Sanadi, the medical director at Broward Health Hospital System said travelers must be extra careful not to get bitten by mosquitoes. “We’ve seen patients from Puerto Rico, the Cayman Islands, and from Haiti. It’s endemic and a big problem right now,” Dr. Sanadi said. Puerto Rico’s Health Department released figures from last month showing 401 confirmed cases of Chikungunya and 2006 suspected cases on the island. For the year, Puerto Rico reports 3,242 confirmed cases. “It’s something to be aware of, especially for those who are traveling to the island,” said Dr. El Sanadi. If you get bitten while away and infected, there’s a chance you could return home to South Florida sick. So far in 2014, the CDC says more than 1600 travelers have. “If you get bitten by a mosquito, pay attention to the symptoms and seek treatment if you develop symptoms,” said Dr. El Sanadi. Chikungunya symptoms include fever, headaches, and severe joint pain. Health Officials say the pain from Chikungunya in your joints can sideline you for up to a week. Right now, the CDC said there is no vaccine or specific treatment for it.

Headline: School tells kids: Stop praying to Jesus, singing Amazing Grace
Christian students at a Colorado public high school were told they could no longer meet to pray, sing religious songs or discuss religious topics during free time – because such activity violated the U.S. Constitution, a lawsuit filed in federal court alleges. Chase Windebank is a senior at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs. Three years ago he started meeting together informally with his classmates for prayer and religious fellowship. The young people would meet in an unoccupied choir room to sing songs like “Amazing Grace” and discuss the issues of the day from a religious perspective. But all that changed on Sept. 29th when Chase was summoned to the office of Assistant Principal James Lucas. “He was told that he could no longer pray with his fellow students during free time because of the separation of church and state,” said Jeremy Tedesco, an attorney representing the teenager. Tedesco is with Alliance Defending Freedom, a law firm that specializes in handling religious liberty cases. “He was told that he could pray before the school day begins or after the school day ends but he could not do it during the school day,” Tedesco told me. To make sure Chase got the message – he was hauled into Principal Kolette Back’s office the following day where it was “reaffirmed that his religious speech could not take place during the open time” known as a “Seminar” period.
