Headline: Arab MKs Threaten Israel with ‘Intifada’ on Sukkot
Islamic Movement officials have threatened Israel with a third intifada to begin on Sukkot, against the backdrop of so-called Israeli “attacks” at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. In an interview with a Turkish news agency, translated by The Middle East Research Institute (MEMRI), the Islamic Movement’s Northern Branch chairman Sheikh Raed Salah warned that “if Israel’s violations continue, a third Palestinian intifada will break out in the West Bank and Jerusalem.” Salah, who was convicted in 2003 for funding Hamas, then called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to pressure Israel with international lawsuits, and also demanded that Jordan be more forceful in its condemnation of the Jewish state. The Islamic Movement’s Jerusalem advisor, Ali Abu Sheika, also joined the act, warning of “a genuine intifada against the occupation in late September on Sukkot” as a result of the “critical and dangerous situation on Al-Aqsa.”

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! 2 For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. 3 They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. 4 They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” (Psalm 83)

Headline: Hezbollah welcomes Russian buildup in Syria, says U.S. has failed
Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah on Friday welcomed Russia’s military buildup in Syria in support of their mutual ally, President Bashar al-Assad. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said in an interview with Al-Manar TV it was the failure of a U.S.-led campaign to defeat Islamic State that had pushed Russia to become directly involved in the conflict. Meanwhile, An agreement was reached Thursday between the warring parties in Syria for a six-month truce in the rebel-held town of Zabadani and two Shiite towns in the northwest, a monitor told AFP. “A ceasefire in Zabadani and the villages of Fuaa and Kafraya was agreed under the sponsorship of the UN,” Rami Abdel Rahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told the news agency.

It said two masked assailants shot dead two Saudis in Al-Shamli, in the Hail region, on Thursday and a gunman killed a policeman at the traffic police station in a second attack in the town half an hour later. The news agency gave no motives for the attacks but said an investigation has been opened.

Headline: Hamas Threatens Egypt Over Gaza ‘Moat’
Hamas on Thursday accused Egypt of besieging Gaza by flooding its smuggling tunnels and building the infrastructure for a moat of sorts on the border area to the south of the terror enclave. Egypt has been carrying out digging work in the area for several weeks that Palestinian Arabs believe is intended to flood the last remaining tunnels between Gaza and the Sinai, where jihadist fighters have been battling Egyptian forces. Palestinian Arabs say such moves will further isolate Gaza, where Israel is imposing a naval blockade to prevent the influx of weapons, and is inspecting goods passing through the land crossings – Israel already foiled numerous attempts to smuggle weapons materials. Egyptian officials have declined to comment on the work criticized by Hamas, the Gazan offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood that enjoys de facto control over Gaza, where residents have reported water seeping over the border. “Why are they digging those trenches and those water pipes around Rafah?” Hamas’s terror chief in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, said during a speech to commemorate the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday. “And why discard neighborly relations and the history of Gaza, which has always defended the regional security of Egypt and Arab countries? We are telling our Egyptian brothers: Stop this project. We will do our duty against those who besiege Gaza and plot against it.”

Syria Headline: New Russian Activity in Syria: Istamo Weapon Storage Facility SE of Latakia
Before dawn on Thursday, Sept. 24, Russian marines went into battle for the first time since their deployment to Syria, debkafile’s military and intelligence sources reveal. Russian Marine Brigade 810 fought with Syrian army and Hizballah special forces in an attack on ISIS forces at the Kweiris airbase, east of Aleppo. This operation runs contrary to the assurances of President Vladimir Putin to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sept. 21 – just three days ago – that Russian forces in Syria were only there to defend Russian interests and would not engaged in combat with the Syrian army, Hizballah or Iranian troops. The ISIS force defending the air base is dominated by Chechen fighters under the command of Abu Omar al-Shishani, who is considered one of the terrorist organization’s leading commanders in the last two years. The 27-year-old al-Shishani hails from the Chechen enclave of Pankisi in Georgia, like many others who joined ISIS from 2012. However, targeting Chechen fighters was not the only reason for the order given by Russian command in Syria to attack the air base. In DEBKA Weekly 678 of September 11, we predicted that the first Russian mission in Syria would be to break the Syrian rebel siege on Aleppo, Syria’s second-largest city. As their first step, the Russians would have to prevent the cutoff of highway 5, running from Aleppo to Damascus, and keep it open for Syrian army reinforcements and military equipment to the city.

Iraq Headline: Multiple bombings claim 7 lives in, around Iraqi capital
Iraqi security and medical officials say at least seven people have lost their lives and more than a dozen sustained injuries in a spate of bomb attacks in and around the country’s violence-plagued capital. A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a civilian was killed and seven others wounded when a roadside bomb went off in Baghdad’s western neighborhood of al-Shu’ala on Thursday evening, Arabic-language al-Baghdadia satellite television network reported. Security forces immediately cordoned off the site of the attack, and ambulance workers ferried the wounded to a nearby hospital. Additionally, an anti-al-Qaeda Sahwa fighter and his wife were killed when a bomb explosion ripped through their vehicle in southern Baghdad. Their two sons were injured in the terrorist attack. An official at the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research also lost his life in the northern al-Adhamiyah neighborhood of Baghdad on Thursday, when a bomb blast targeted his vehicle. Separately, a bomb exploded in the capital’s western neighborhood of Ghazaliya, killing one civilian and injuring four others. In the town of Madain, situated about 20 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of the capital, two civilians lost their lives and six others suffered injuries when a bomb attack struck.

Headline: Two Turkish soldiers, 34 Kurdish militants killed
Two Turkish soldiers and 34 Kurdish rebels have been killed in fighting in the southeast, where scores of people have died since the July breakdown of a ceasefire, the army said Friday. The soldiers were killed in two separate attacks by the militant Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) near Beytussebap district in Sirnak province on Thursday, the army’s high command said in a statement. The military responded with airstrikes on the PKK’s positions, in which “34 terrorists” were killed, the statement added. It was not possible to independently confirm the losses in the separatists’ camp.

Headline: Turkey Proposes Syria ‘Safe Zone’ in Return for Cooperation With EU on Refugee Crisis
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu wrote to EU leaders this week proposing ideas on how to deal with the refugee crisis, including support for a “safe zone” in northern Syria in return for Ankara’s cooperation on the issue, according to EU officials. In July, U.S. officials said that the Turkish government was considering the formation of a buffer zone in northern Syria. The move was raised by Ankara with the aim of creating an “ISIS-free zone” following the suspected ISIS-linked suicide bomb that killed 32 people in the Turkish border town of Suruc in July and also to counter the advances of Kurdish militiamen along the Turkish-Syrian border against ISIS and split them from the Kurdish PKK fighters who have conducted a number of deadly attacks against Turkish authorities since a two year ceasefire collapsed in July. Talk of a secure zone in northern Syria has since cooled in Washington but Davutoglu resurfaced the idea of the “safe zone” to EU leaders in a three-page letter on Wednesday on the basis that it would help to stem the flow of refugees to Europe’s borders and allow Turkey to resettle refugees within its own territory. “I can confirm that the letter from the Prime Minister of Turkey has been received. A response will be sent in due course,” Maja Kocijančič, spokesperson for the EU’s European Neighbourhood Policy, tells Newsweek by email.

Headline: Islamic Jihad Union claims to control areas along Afghan-Tajik border
Headline: US reportedly considers leaving thousands of troops in Afghanistan beyond 2016
The Islamic Jihad Union (IJU), an al Qaeda and Taliban-linked group that operates in Afghanistan, has claimed it controls large areas of the northern border with Tajikistan. While the IJU’s claim cannot be independently confirmed, the jihadist group released several photos of a small team of fighters purportedly crossing the Amu Darya River in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz. The photographs, five of which are reproduced below, were published on Sodiqlar, the IJU’s official website. Fighters are ferried to a sandbar at a shallow point in the river, and then cross as a group into Tajikistan. The crossing takes place in broad daylight. It is unclear exactly where the crossing took place, but it likely occurred in the district of Qala-i-Zal, the only district in Kunduz that borders the Amu Darya River. The northern Kunduz districts of Imam Sahib and Dasht-i-Archi, which also border Tajikistan and the Panj River, are considered to be contested or controlled by the Taliban. The IJU says it is “controlling many territories bordering Tajikistan,” according to a statement accompanying the photographs. “Our group has many followers and supporters among the locals and it is freely operating on the shores of Amu Darya River that separate Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The mujahideen are monitoring the section of the border guarded by infidels [Afghan and Tajik security forces], studying its weak points and also collecting information,” the IJU stated. The deteriorating situation on the Afghan-Tajik border has forced the government of Tajikistan to consider allowing Russian troops to deploy along the frontier.

Headline: South Sudan army readies camps for pullout from capital
South Sudan’s army said on Friday it was preparing bases outside the capital ahead of a pullout from Juba as part of a peace deal to end a 21-month civil war. “The bases are being prepared outside Juba, as per the peace agreement, ahead of the army moving there in the days ahead,” army information chief, Brigadier General Malak Ayuen, said on Friday, although adding the sites currently have “no water and no shelter”. At least eight sites, in all directions from the capital, had been scouted ahead of a redeployment of troops to within a 25km radius of the city. The army and rebels have repeatedly traded blame, accusing each other of breaking an internationally-brokered August 29 ceasefire deal, the eighth such agreement to have been signed since civil war broke out in December 2013. Despite the fighting, both sides say the political deal remains in place.

Headline: Tensions Rise Again Between Armenia, Azerbaijan
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has expressed concern about an outbreak of violence near the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, in which three people died late Thursday. Armenia says three civilians died in shelling and gunfire in villages near the border with Azerbaijan. Government officials said two others were wounded in the shelling and condemned the incident as an “act of provocation” by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan did not answer the accusation directly but said earlier in the day that Azerbaijani villages near the border with Armenia had come under fire and Azeri forces retaliated. The OSCE said Friday it objects to the use of heavy artillery around civilian areas, saying it represents “an unacceptable escalation” of the conflict. It appealed to both sides “in the strongest possible terms” to avoid civilian casualties. The foreign ministers of the two countries are expected to meet in the coming days on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Headline: German Reporter Reveals ISIS Plans ‘Nuclear Tsunami’
A veteran German journalist who became the first to gain access as an embedded reporter with Islamic State (ISIS) revealed the jihadist terror group plans to bring nuclear annihilation across the globe. The journalist, Jurgen Todenhofer (75), released his findings in a book called “Inside IS – Ten Days in the Islamic State,” reports the UK’s Daily Express on Friday. Todenhofer, who previously was an MP in German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU party before turning to journalism in 2000 as a war reporter, spent ten days with ISIS. He was overseen during his visit by “Jihadi John,” the ISIS terrorist from the UK named Mohammed Emwazi who gained fame in gruesome beheading videos. According to the journalist, the West is unprepared for ISIS. He writes that “the terrorists plan on killing several hundred million people. The west is drastically underestimating the power of ISIS.” ISIS intends to get its hands on nuclear weapons, says Todenhofer, calling the group a “nuclear tsunami preparing the largest religious cleansing in history.” Those warnings are made all the more stark by the possibility of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East sparked by the Iran nuclear deal, with rival states such as Saudi Arabia eyeing their own nuclear arsenal leading to a higher proliferation – and a higher chance that nuclear weapons could fall into ISIS hands.

Donald Tusk, president of the European Council, warned the EU was now facing a “critical point” and that the migrant crisis hadn’t even reached its peak. As he chaired an emergency meeting of EU leaders in Brussels last night Mr Tusk painted a bleak picture of the EU’s future, saying the 28-member bloc was on the verge of breakdown with “recriminations and misunderstanding” pitting nations against one another. The future of free movement was at stake, he said, as the continent had lost control of its borders as well as a “sense of order”. He added: “The most urgent question we should ask ourselves…is how to regain control of our external borders. “Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense to even speak about common migration policy.” He appeared to lay much of the blame with Germany, accusing Chancellor Angela Merkel of exacerbating the problem by sending the signal to desperate Syrians fleeing their war-torn homeland that Germany had no limit on the number of migrants it would accept.

Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:7 speak of nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom in the end times. Revelation 6:3-4 speaks of the fiery red horse given power to make men slay one another and Revelation 6:8 speaks again of this red horse in conjunction with the pale horse of Death and Hades, as the one that has the power to kill by sword. Luke 21:9: wars & commotions; the Greek word here is Akatastasia, meaning instability, a state of disorder, disturbance, confusion (revolutions) Matthew 24:7: the Greek word for nation is Ethnos & refers to various ethnic groups fighting among themselves, where the next sentence in the verse refers to kingdoms (basileiva) fighting one another (not to be confused with an actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom)
Headline: Catalans gear up for de facto independence referendum
Catalans will head to the ballot box on Sunday in a regional election that has become a de facto referendum on independence from Spain. The results could launch Spain into uncharted territoryand plunge the country into one of its deepest political crises of recent years, as Madrid squares off against an openly secessionist government of a region that accounts for 16% of Spain’s population and a fifth of its economic output. With polls suggesting pro-independence parties could gain a slim majority on Sunday, a barrage of warnings was unleashed this week by those opposed to independence. Spain’s central bank said secession would risk exclusion from the eurozone, while the country’s main banks – including two based in the region – cautioned that independence could undermine financial stability just as the country was beginning to shake off the lingering effects of the economic crisis. The Spanish government argued that if Catalans broke off from Spain it would cost them their Spanish nationality, while the president of the Spanish professional football league said Barcelona would be left out of La Liga. “Catalans aren’t being told the real consequences of independence,” the Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, told Onda Cero radio station on Tuesday. “It would leave the EU. What would happen with pensions? There are many more pensioners than contributors. What would happen with financial institutions, with bank deposits, to the currency?” In recent years, his conservative People’s party (PP) has repeatedly blocked demands by Catalonia to hold a referendum on independence, insisting that Spain’s constitution precludes regions from unilaterally making decisions on sovereignty.

Scuffles have broken out between Indian security forces and pro-independence protesters in the Indian-administered Kashmir after prayers marking Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice), which marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. On Friday, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Kashmir’s main city of Srinagar, situated 648 kilometers (403 miles) north of the Indian capital, New Delhi, and at least two other places in the disputed Himalayan region, waving Pakistani flags chanting anti-Indian slogans and pelting Indian soldiers with stones. Indian troopers, in return, used batons and shot tear gas canisters to disperse the crowds. A police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a protester was critically injured in the town of Sopore, located 50 kilometers (30 miles) northwest of Srinagar, after a tear gas shell struck him. Indian authorities have beefed up security and blocked all mobile and landline Internet services in Kashmir on the eve of Eid al-Adha holidays.

Headline: Yemen: ISIL claims deadly mosque suicide attack
The group calling itself Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a suicide attack that killed at least 25 people and injured dozens more at a mosque in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, on Thursday. Officials fear the death toll from the attack at the Al Bilaili mosque in Sanaa will rise, because dozens of worshippers suffered severe injuries. Worshippers at the mosque, run by the Shi’ite Houthi group, were celebrating the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday. Video taken after the attack showed the power of the blast. Rubble covered the streets. A hole was blown through what appeared to be a thick cement wall. Bits of stone and plaster littered the prayer floor inside the mosque. Blood appeared to have stained the carpet where the faithful would have been praying. And shoes, which Muslims take off before entering a mosque, remained unclaimed outside. The attack is the sixth in three months in which a mosque has been targeted.

Headline: Ukraine crisis: Rebels order UN agencies to leave Luhansk
The UN humanitarian aid chief has expressed alarm after UN agencies were ordered out of rebel-held parts of the Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine. Stephen O’Brien said the agencies had been told to leave by Friday, and several international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) by Saturday. Pro-Russian rebels seized parts of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions last year. Kiev has announced a ban on Russian airlines, including Aeroflot, flying to Ukraine as part of sanctions. In a statement, Mr O’Brien said the “de facto authorities” in Luhansk had ordered the UN agencies and NGOs to leave the area. The BBC understands 10 UN agencies ordered to leave include the World Health Organisation, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), and the UN children’s charity, Unicef. On Thursday the Luhansk rebels refused to register 10 out of 11 foreign NGOs because of “violations”. They accused one of the banned NGOs – Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) – of “illegally storing psychotropic medication”. The NGO denies the allegation. Dr Bart Janssens, MSF director of operations, denounced the decision to prevent operations in the region as “unacceptable given the significant medical and humanitarian needs of people affected by the ongoing conflict”. Mr O’Brien said all UN agency operations had also been suspended in the rebel-held parts of Donetsk.

Headline: World leaders adopt new U.N. global development goals
World leaders gathered at the United Nations on Friday adopted new global development goals for the next 15 years that aim to end poverty and improve lives. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the 17 goals and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030 laid out a “universal, integrated and transformative vision for the world.” Presidents, prime ministers and diplomats from the U.N.’s 193 members stood and applauded loudly after General Assembly President Mogens Lykketoft gaveled approval of the development roadmap. Discussions on how to implement the new goals – expected to cost between $3.5 trillion and $5 trillion every year until 2030 – is expected to dominate the three-day summit that will include speeches by U.S. President Barack Obama, China’s President Xi Jinping and the leaders of Egypt, India, Iran, Germany, Britain and France. Ban told the General Assembly that the test will be implementation, calling for action from all people, everywhere, and high-level political commitment. The agenda “embodies the aspirations of people everywhere for lives of peace, security and dignity on a healthy planet,” Ban said. The goals “are a to-do list for people and planet, and a blueprint for success.”

Headline: The Stock Markets Of The 10 Largest Global Economies Are All Crashing
You would think that the simultaneous crashing of all of the largest stock markets around the world would be very big news. But so far the mainstream media in the United States is treating it like it isn’t really a big deal. Over the last sixty days, we have witnessed the most significant global stock market decline since the fall of 2008, and yet most people still seem to think that this is just a temporary “bump in the road” and that the bull market will soon resume. Hopefully they are right. When the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 777 points on September 29th, 2008 everyone freaked out and rightly so. But a stock market crash doesn’t have to be limited to a single day. Since the peak of the market earlier this year, the Dow is down almost three times as much as that 777 point crash back in 2008. Over the last sixty days, we have seen the 8th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis and the 10th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis. You would think that this would be enough to wake people up, but most Americans still don’t seem very alarmed. And of course what has happened to U.S. stocks so far is quite mild compared to what has been going on in the rest of the world. Right now, stock market wealth is being wiped out all over the planet, and none of the largest global economies have been exempt from this. The following is a summary of what we have seen in recent days…

Headline: Malawi Faces Worst Food Crisis in a Decade
The United Nations World Food Program reports it is scaling up life-saving operations for more than 2 million people in Malawi. The WFP said Malawi faces the worst food crisis in a decade following severe floods and drought that have ruined this year’s harvest. The World Food Program warns more than 2.8 million people, nearly one-fifth of Malawi’s population, will face hunger in the coming lean season. This is the period between October and March – before the harvest, and after people have eaten most of their food stocks. Unfortunately, this lean season will be particularly hard. Floods early this year – the worst in living memory – washed away homes and food stocks and ruined fertile land. The WFP notes surviving crops withered away during the intense drought which followed.

A report from the American Center for Law and Justice said shortly after a family visit at the Rajaei Shahr prison in Iran Nagmeh heard news that her husband could face added time for possible new charges on top of the eight-year sentence he’s already facing for his faith. “Yesterday (Tuesday) in Iran, Iranian intelligence officers summoned Pastor Saeed for an intense round of interrogation. Saeed reported to his family that the interrogators were abusive both verbally and physically. During the course of interrogation, the officers repeatedly used a taser gun on Saeed. This new assault is concerning as Saeed is still being denied needed medical care for injuries sustained as a result of beatings in the past,” said an ACLJ report shared with The Christian Post. “The interrogators threatened that Saeed will face new criminal charges. They claimed Saeed has connections with anti-government groups and has made statements and taken actions against the government of Iran. Saeed denied all of these allegations, and once again asserted that he is apolitical and that he has never threatened the security of, made any statements against, or taken any action against the government of Iran,” the reported added. Reacting to the abused meted out to her husband, Naghmeh said it was difficult to endure.

Increase in Knowledge/Mark of the Beast Daniel 12:4 and Revelation 13:16-17 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” (Daniel) “He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” (Revelation)
Headline: Police Program Aims to Pinpoint Those Most Likely to Commit Crimes
The strategy, known as predictive policing, combines elements of traditional policing, like increased attention to crime “hot spots” and close monitoring of recent parolees. But it often also uses other data, including information about friendships, social media activity and drug use, to identify “hot people” and aid the authorities in forecasting crime. The use of computer models by local law enforcement agencies to forecast crime is part of a larger trend by governments and corporations that are increasingly turning to predictive analytics and data mining in looking at behaviors. Typically financed by the federal government, the strategy is being used by dozens of police departments — including Los Angeles, Miami and Nashville — and district attorneys’ offices in Manhattan and Philadelphia. At a time when many police departments are under fire for aggressive tactics, particularly in minority neighborhoods, advocates say predictive policing can help improve police-community relations by focusing on the people most likely to become involved in violent crime. Civil liberties groups take a dim view of the strategy, questioning its legality and efficacy, and asserting that it may actually worsen the rapport between the police and civilians. Ezekiel Edwards, the director of the Criminal Law Reform Project of the American Civil Liberties Union, said predictive policing tended to legitimize the profiling of racial minorities who live in poor, high-crime neighborhoods, and prompted officers to enforce laws selectively.

Headline: Earthquake Injures Dozens in Indonesia
A powerful earthquake off the eastern coast of Indonesia has injured dozens of people and sent startled residents scurrying out of their homes in the middle of the night. The 6.6-magnitude quake struck around 1:00 a.m. local time (1600 UTC) Friday north of the city of Sorong in Indonesia’s West Papua province, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. At least 39 people were injured, some seriously, by falling debris, and at least 200 houses were damaged, say local disaster officials. The quake also caused power outages across the region, including at a hospital in Manokwari city, where patients were forced to evacuate. Some officials say they expect the casualty count to increase. But they say the quake is not expected to cause any tsunamis.
