Because we just celebrate the resurrection Sunday some are asking the following question. How Jesus could be in the tomb three days if he died on Friday and raised on Sunday? This is a really common and important question, and the answer comes down to how time was counted in the Jewish culture of Second Temple Judaism during the time of Jesus Christ.
1. Jewish way of counting days
In that culture, any part of a day was counted as a full day. This is called “inclusive reckoning.” So even if something happened late in the day, that still counted as day one.
Friday (Day 1) Jesus died and was buried before sunset (which began the Sabbath). Even though it was only part of the day, Friday counts as a full day.
Saturday (Day 2) Jesus remained in the tomb during the Sabbath. This is a full day.
Sunday (Day 3) Jesus rose early in the morning.
Even though it was just part of the day, Sunday counts as the third day.

An American airman who went missing after Iran shot down his fighter jet has been rescued after a “heavy firefight”.
The US president hailed “one of the most daring search and rescue operations in US history” to pull the airman out of southern Iran after he was stranded for around 36 hours.
Donald Trump confirmed US forces had retrieved the weapons officer from behind enemy lines, posting on social media: “WE GOT HIM!”
