The man in the picture below is Abdullah Hashem (specifically Abdullah Hashem Aba Al-Sadiq).
He is an Egyptian-American religious figure and the founder of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL), a millenarian new religious movement.
He has drawn widespread attention and criticism for self-proclaiming himself to be various end-times figures, including:
The Imam Mahdi (the prophesied redeemer in Islam)
The Qa’im (the Riser from the family of Prophet Muhammad)
A successor or equivalent figure bridging multiple major world religions
Following the high-profile raids and arrests carried out by Cheshire Police at the headquarters of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL) in Crewe, England, in late April 2026, Abdullah Hashem (along with nine other members) was taken into custody following allegations of serious sexual offenses, forced marriage, and modern slavery.
Here is what has happened since his arrest:
Release on Bail: Following questioning by authorities, Hashem and the other detained individuals were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders (STROs): Cheshire Police applied for civil Slavery and Trafficking Risk Orders against five key suspects at the Chester Magistrates’ Court. The orders were officially approved to impose strict preventative restrictions while the wider criminal investigation remains ongoing.
Strict Legal Restrictions: Under the terms of his court order, Abdullah Hashem is subject to rigorous conditions, which include:
Being prohibited from entering Crewe or organizing accommodation and transport for others.
Surrendering all travel documents and passports, and being banned from applying for new ones or leaving the UK without strict permissions.
Having strict limitations regarding contact with minors, communication devices, and staying at any UK address for more than 24 hours without reporting his whereabouts to the police.
The overarching investigation by law enforcement remains active.
