6.4 earthquake rattles Papua New Guinea in latest Pacific Ring of Fire activity
A 6.4 quake has once again rattled the Pacific Ring of Fire — this time in Papua New Guinea. The quake struck at 9:17 a.m. UTC, on Sept 20 and was felt across the island country. The deep quake struck about 30 miles from Kainantu. The population in this area resides in a mix of vulnerable and earthquake-resistant construction.

Concerns for a possible escalation have increased in Israel after the U.S. State Department issued a fresh set of travel warnings for the Middle East on Saturday. In a warning issued to the Jerusalem and Amman embassy websites, the State Department warned, “Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation. Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions.”
Ukraine fires over 1,000 drones at Russia, including ‘largest ever’ attack on Moscow
Ukrainian forces fired more than 1,000 drones at Russia overnight, including hundreds that were launched toward Moscow, officials said Sunday, as the Kremlin was wrapping up the third and last day of its parliamentary elections. Moscow’s mayor described the wave of drones as the “largest ever” drone attack on the Russian capital and said there had been damage to the Moscow Oil Refinery, which is among several sites that supply the Russian capital, and a residential building.

The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi forces has sharply escalated after a missile attack targeted Riyadh and Saudi oil infrastructure. Although Saudi Arabia said the missile was intercepted, explosions and a fire were reported near Riyadh’s airport, while the Houthis claimed responsibility for attacks on sensitive sites in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu. The United States warned that the fighting could “escalate rapidly”

A Qatari security official revealed that Qatar had preplanned evacuation measures to safely escort Hamas leaders away from the site of an Israeli attack, highlighting the strong connection between the Gulf state and the terror group.
