Reports that President Donald Trump is considering holding a midterm election Republican convention next year reveal that the nation’s impresario-in-chief continues to think outside the political box. If it happens, it could be a brilliant innovation and give further momentum to a now-developing counter-historical trend that might enable the party in power to actually make gains in the first midterm of a new presidency.
US military strikes alleged ‘drug vessel’ from Venezuela in Caribbean Sea, 11 killed
The U.S. military killed 11 alleged Tren da Aragua members aboard a suspected drug boat originating from Venezuela in the southern Caribbean on Sept. 2. Trump secretly authorized military force against drug cartels in early August. “Earlier this morning, on my Orders, U.S. Military Forces conducted a kinetic strike against positively identified Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility,” Trump said. “The strike occurred while the terrorists were at sea in International waters transporting illegal narcotics, heading to the United States.
Republicans release first batch of Epstein files
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Tuesday made public a batch of files it said it received from the Justice Department (DOJ) in response to its subpoena for documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The committee said the information released Tuesday, posted in multiple files and folders on Google Drive and Dropbox, includes 33,295 pages of material provided to the panel by the Justice Department last month.

Four candidates and two reserves from the right-wing AfD political party in Germany have dropped dead within 13 days of each other — just before elections, according to reports. The Alternative for Deutschland candidates were set to appear on ballots in North Rhine-Westphalia on September 14. Officials said no foul play is currently suspected in any of their deaths, the BBC reported.

Both Xi and Putin are 72 years old. a Chinese official wrote that 87-year-old Gao Zhanxiang, whom he described as having a “sharp mind and a booming voice,” had “replaced many organs in his body” as he “tenaciously fought with illness,” such that Gao himself said that “many components are not his own anymore.” The source of their organs remains a question.

In the posts — screenshots of which circulated on X/Twitter and other platforms this week — Felker-Martin appeared to praise Osama bin Laden for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the US and expressed support for Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, invasion of and massacre across southern Israel.

Trump Demands Hamas ‘immediately’ free all hostages
US President Donald Trump demanded on Wednesday that Hamas “IMMEDIATELY give back all 20 hostages,” issuing the call in a post on Truth Social. “Not 2 or 5 or 7!” he wrote, adding that if Hamas complies, “things will change rapidly … IT WILL END!” Trump’s remarks focused only on the 20 hostages believed to be alive rather than on the total 48 still held in Gaza.

Iran’s looming collapse: Dangers of civil war, regional instability
There is a danger that the collapse of the Iranian regime could lead to a vacuum of governance and subsequent civil war, a report released on Wednesday by the Henry Jackson Society. Only four Houthi ministers remain alive
Reports indicated that among those killed in the Thursday operation were Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi and the Ministers of Economy, Industry and Investment; the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration; and the Deputy Interior Minister. The strike also killed the Houthi Prime Minister’s office director, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the Justice Minister Majahad, and the Minister of Youth and Sports. According to additional reports, the Transportation Minister was also killed.

Chicago police will not collaborate with any National Guard troops or federal agents if U.S. President Donald Trump deploys them to the city in coming days as threatened, Mayor Brandon Johnson said on Saturday. The Democratic mayor, surrounded by other city leaders, signed an executive order aimed at preparing Chicago for any U.S. enforcement operation as Trump has done in Los Angeles and Washington, and urged the Republican president to reverse course.

What did Jesus mean when He gave this warning in 2 Thessalonians 2:11?
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.”
This verse is set in the context of those who refuse to believe the truth of the Gospel and instead choose to embrace falsehoods and deception. It reveals that God allows—or permits—a powerful delusion to overtake those who reject the truth, leading them even deeper into lies. This is understood as a form of divine judgment, a consequence for their willful rejection of God’s truth.
Could it be possible that when the Church of Christ is raptured and taken to heaven, the “strong delusion” will be the lie that those missing were taken by aliens—and that those left behind are actually the “good” people? When, in reality, the opposite is true?
